Exactly 40 years ago today at 4pm on October 9th 1984, Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends made it's television debut with a double bill of Thomas & Gordon and Edward & Gordon on CITV and a legend was born. So here's to 40 years of Thomas. Dry rails and good running!

So, I finally watched Georgina's entire Stop/Eject interview, and this subsequent rabbit hole was the result. She was simply the luckiest kid in the world and she did such a good job <3

NOSTALGIAMARE ENTRY 40
NAME: KING ARTHUR'S DISASTERS
COMPANY/FRANCHISE: CITV
NICKELODEON UK
NEPTUNO FILMS
CAKE ENTERTAINMENT
CATEGORY: TV SERIES (ANIMATED)
YEAR: 2005
DESCRIPTION: A BAFTA nominated parody of the Arthurian legends complete with some 20th century influences. The show follows King Arthur who is sent on quests by the Princess Guinevere in order to retrieve a valuable item in exchange for the princess's hand in marriage. Usually accompanied by Merlin the sorcerer, Arthur and his companions often find themselves surrounded by ridiculous hijinks, death-defying dangers and "dark forces" just to meet their goal. The series also features Arthur coming face to face with many rivals that will foil his endeavours, most regularly the rebellious and arrogant Sir Lancelot, his slightly ditzy and spontaneous samurai partner Sir Martyn, and the overly-exuberant and showy Robin Hood.
MOD THOUGHTS:
1: How to make your low budget and initially weak show win the hearts of the public:
Step 1: Get Rik Mayall on board with the project.
Tumblr media
Step 2: Have fun soaking in the ratings.
2: Watching this show is like playing a drinking game. Take a shot every time:
Merlin goes on about "DARK FORCES!!!"
Lancelot says "Oh blow/double blow!"
King Arthur acts like a simp
Guinevere is a totally spoiled girlboss and girlfailure (because she's both)
Guinevere isn't satisfied with what Arthur gets her
Robin Hood sings
Anyone gets hurt
The cast visibly carries the show on their backs
3: (An almost word for word exchange from episode 2)
Arthur: When will we marry?
Guinevere: Uh soon my dear.
Arthur: Ha! Excellent! Then it's settled. And don't worry about the cost, I know a priest who owes me a favour.
Guinevere: Uh, no wait wait your majesty wait!
Arthur: What?
Guinevere: Have you remembered to ask my father?
Arthur: Your father?
Tumblr media
Any Arthurian fans out there, tell me if this is the first time Arthur's expressing bicurious thoughts and is this enough proof to say that he's not straight.

Welcome to Jungle Run!
This is an incredibly self-indulgent blog where I post polls of trios and you vote whether they would win the golden monkey or not. The golden monkey is the top prize, and your team must use your speed and wits to get to it in time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now, wtf is Jungle Run?
Jungle run is a game show that aired 1999-2006 where a group of kids do challenges and are rewarded with monkey statues. Each monkey statue gives them 10 seconds in the final temple where they have up to 3 minutes to complete 4 challenges. After completing each challenge they will get, in order: The Stone monkey, Bronze monkey, Silver monkey and the Golden monkey.
The goal is to get as many monkeys as you can, and bring them out with you before you run out of time and the door to the temple closes.
You can watch the first episode on youtube (and many more)!
Tumblr media
The voting options
Yes, with the golden monkey They have enough time to complete all the challenges, take each monkey and get out before the door closes
No, they lose at the final riddle and get silver The final challenge in this season is to solve an easy question with a 5-letter answer, and each person has to stand on the right letter at the same time (on different platforms) to spell the answer.
No, they lose at the cog puzzle and get bronze A lot of kids have lost to the cog puzzle. You have to use your smarts to put a few cogs in the right place so you can spin them and make the door open.
No, they lose at the jigsaw puzzle and get stone A surprising amount of kids lose to the jigsaw puzzle. It's a large 6-piece puzzle. There are faint marks that show where each piece goes. You probably lose here if you're panicking, uncoordinated, or have never done a jigsaw puzzle in your life.
No, they lose at the ball maze and get nothing The "ball maze" means they have to tilt a platform with a maze and a ball in it until the ball goes into the hole, similar to the Myahm Agana Shrine in BOTW.
No, they run out of time and get locked in It doesn't matter how many monkeys they got, because they didn't make it out in time. Maybe they got too greedy or were too slow.

Submission rules
Of course you can submit your own trios to compete. Here are the rules:
Submit through my ask box! You can include a picture and/or propaganda if you want.
They should be a trio. I can make occasional exceptions if it's a 4 person group (because early jungle run had groups of 4!) and maybe if it's a funny "could they solo jungle run". But generally just 3 characters. Also, they don't have to be associated in canon, you can make up any team you like.
Any ages are ok, even though it's a game meant for kids.
Real people are allowed at my discretion.
dividers used are by plum98.

What do YOU miss about TV?
we see it all the time, "I wish Cartoon Network still did City promos", "I wish Disney Channel still existed", "I wish Jetix was still around", "I wish YTV would 'keep it weird' again", "I wish CITV didn't die", "I wish POGO was like it used to be in the 2000s"
What was it about these channels that drew you to them? Why as older teens and adults, with streaming legal or otherwise available to us, do we still wish for scheduled programming?
Do you miss the presentation in between the programmes? Do you miss waiting for a new premiere? Do you miss having a channel dedicated to a certain subgenre of programme? Do you miss having a curated list of programmes that you could watch at the same time with millions of others?
Is it all of the above? What would a block or channel have to do to get you to tune in again?
I'd really love to know, I think about it all the time.

am i the only 1 who has heard of/remembers the horrible histories cartoon/horrible histories 2000?
Tumblr media
"The problem with being a kid today is that you grow up too quickly! There's just not enough time!...well, for some kids, that is." - narrator in the theme song.
its bout 2 kids, stitch (voiced by billy west, whos more well known for voicing fry in futurama) and mo (voiced by cree summer) who get randomly transported through time by the narrator (also voiced by billy west.) to help them learn somthing or solve a problem in their lives. usually caused by the 2 kids rival, darren dongle. (voiced by jess harnell)
the show had a uk dub. where mo was voiced by jo young and the narrator was voiced by stephen rea. stitch kept his original va though.
despite its choppy animation, in meh opinion its pretty good. and pretty funny at som moments.

Hollie why tf do you even care about it being on itv?
Ok so when Ninjago first started airing in 2011, it aired on Cartoon Network which was a paid channel, if you only have free view TV you couldn’t watch it. ITV is a free view channel, when ninjago started airing on it in around 2017-18 it meant so many more kids could watch it, so I will always support it on itv over Netflix. Yes I know it’s more convenient watching it on Netflix as there’s no Ads but I’ll be honest I don’t trust that it’ll always stay on Netflix with the amount of shows they get rid of on there. (I heard they are deleting Voltron soon??? Their own show!?!?!)
Anyways I’ve seen a lot of people mad about the fact that it’s not on Netflix yet, (there’s also a rights issue which is why it airs on ITV first) but yall there’s nothing stopping you from watching it… it just has a few 1 minute ads sometimes.
Anyways I’ll always support it being on free channels over it being on subscription services
