i was talking to one of my fav regulars at the bar and i started talking about all for the game because i was telling him i’m really into this series about a fictional sport and i wish the sport was real so i could watch it and he said “are there like rules for this game? does it make sense?” so i pulled up the extra content doc i have downloaded and let him read it and he said “the goal is that tall? how does that make sense?” and then i got to tell him about the five foot tall goalkeeper like “yeah!!! and get THIS!!!!!”

Usan snorts.

He actually snorts, and it's evident with the horror on his face he has never done that- or at least not in front of those few wonderful people he meets such as her. He laughs, a wickedly sweet smile staying on his face as he looks down to the floor; eyeing his shoes, finding the floor to be more interesting than looking at the barista.

"Thank you, I'll be sure to send you my regards soon..." He proceeds to take a bite. "Can I buy you a cake? What's your favorite?" He asks with slight hesitation, still wary of the price of the delicacy. He wanted to eat though, so he takes the chocolate cake, picking it up with pale hands. He takes a bite, and has to cover his mouth to hide his messy smile. He quickly wipes his face of any crumbs, not minding the fact his sleeves are muddy in appearance.

"This is wonderful, thank you..." He returns to being shy, but still honored by the peaceful gift. "At least let me buy you a coffee!" He insisted with another bite of cake. What are the chances, that this sparks the fire that'll keep him warm for at least the walk home.

The girl stood there watching her own hand. The words were heavy, she didn't know how to explain... she didn't know if she could explain. Nith had been sweeping the floor when she noticed the silhouette of the man in the distance. He was not of great height, but his muscles were to be admired. Although that might be what caught some people's eyes at first glance, there was something about his posture that she could recognize, something in his eyes... Loneliness? Sadness?

She didn't understand it herself... It was easy to ignore him and continue working, it was easier to pretend she hadn't seen him.

Is that how others felt when they saw her?

Then, she put down her broom and took a piece of cake from the display case without permission. Most people loved the chocolate one, though of course she hated it.

"It's on me. But next time you must tip me well..." -she joked, reinforcing it with a slight smile.

"Don't worry, I'll settle for the smile I just saw. That will be my payment."
