Alright, so my partner's birthday present to me arrived today, and it's time to curse the Dash with a Vonny lore dump to express how amazing this present is to me.

I've been writing and drawing since I started elementary school. Not very well, mind you -- but that's not the point. As one might expect of a kid, my way of "learning" to draw was by imitating what I saw.

Early on, I started collecting things like strategy guides for games(especially Zelda and Final Fantasy), both to read them as if they were books, and to use the artwork and screenshots within them to practice drawing. As I got older, I started collecting artbooks for games and manga, too. Even as time went on and for one reason or another I began to draw and write less and less, I still collected these things, and I still cherished them, because inspiration.

Okay, I could go on and on, but I'll stop being sappy. The tl;dr is that my birthday gift arrived, and I'm having An Emotion because... yeah.

I'll take everything out of the box later and probably grab some pictures of everything piece by piece, but. Yeah. Phoenix knows me well lol.

dante is gentle in every aspect. as a child he found it hard to navigate the world with claws that no one else around him had. it took time and a lot of 'thinking before doing' but he finally managed to take someone's hand without accidently scratching them. his touches are always gentle, maybe overly so but he'd much rather be that way than accidentally hurt someone. he is very mindful of his strength and may come across soft but he simply doesn't want to cause harm. especially with humans . . . he still doesn't know very much about them other than the fact that they are fragile beings. dante doesn't like causing unnecessary pain and will continue to always be gentle.

Okay I know I need to pump the breaks on IF HALBRAND ISNT SAURON WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE as obviously he could also be the witch king or the king under the mountain, etc. and I need to guard my heart from disappointment.

BUT an excellent counterpoint I heard on the Ringerverse podcast was this: we have tv literacy, right??? So when Adar is like ‘no but for real for real who are you?’ and Halbrand just pauses before ghosting him — that means Halbrand is someone known in this time period and all the theories around him being a third age villain are then not really valid. HE HAS TO BE SAURON OR WHAT ARE WE DOING HERE. I AM FAILING AT PUMPING THE BREAKS. 😭

✩ . — His lonesome figure stood out within the canvas of white, it was a familiar sight that Hook managed to chance upon from time to time, whenever he came to visit her. Yet, despite all of that— his silhouette being present was something she looked forward to always. Hook would admit that she did not know much about his past, but he treated her well and that was enough.

His smile was as gentle as the sun rays that cascaded past the clouds, a soft warm touch to the skin. It was a rare sight, and yet— this memory of their first meeting was deeply etched into her heart, a treasured memory...filled with tranquility and yummy candy. He was a good person, and no one could convince her otherwise.

On this day, the little girl enjoyed his company like always, even when silence seeped in between them, it was still comfortable. Yet, the sky had started to dim, rendering a gradient of orange and blue. It had been many hours since she had been out, was it already time to head back?

Wavering honeyed eyes turned towards him with disappointment peppered along her expression. Hook did not want to leave him yet in this cold, alone with no one else but the stars.

Her gaze lowered in sadness upon hearing what he said, the man was urging her to leave and insisting that he would be fine. But gloved hands soon came up to latch onto him, tugging him along and refusing to let go.

❝ No! J-Just because it's fine, doesn't mean it's right! ❞ Yellow hues returned to red ones, a new-found determination could be found within her stare, ❝ Hook is not leaving Big Brother! I still have to bring you on an adventure with me... so, let's go to Boulder Town together! ❞

And within the never-ending picture of ashen, the shadow that had once stood alone was accompanied by a small dash of yellow.
