At first he wouldn't care, he doesn’t care what anyone thinks of him, why should he care if you are scared of him? Kaveh is enough work for him.

He would not acknowledge you and would just keep his distance from you, because despite him not caring, it is not his intent to scare you or make you uncomfortable.

When you are home alone with him, because you would often visit Kaveh for help on your assignment or certain events that happen at the Akademiya, you would hide in Kaveh's room, remain quiet and just overall keep your back to the door to not see him.

Overtime, Alhaitham would let his curiosity get the best of him, and ask Kaveh about you, and why you are so afraid of him. When Kaveh told him that it was because he was too intimidating, he was surprised as he never thought himself to be intimadating, just blunt.

At first, Alhaitham would try and continue to not care, however without him noticing, he would try and do gentler things around you, and speak to you more gently and patiently. With a softer voice.

Once he realize he did this, he would lie to himself that "If they are scared of me, then of course other people are, and that is inconvenient to my work appearance, and overall disadvantage of me."

But truly, he does care about you, he likes that you are a intelligent and gentle person. More so, someone who was more emotionally reasonable and mature then Kaveh.

You would bring him a peace of mind, and even over hearing you showing your achievements to Kaveh, he would internally be proud of you too.

He would slowly leave books by the door, leave notes along with leftover meals, secretly cover for things for you.

Once you find out, you started to progress to him slowly, and he didn’t want to admit it, this made him happy. This was progress, he found himself wanting to be closer to you, and hopefully being a safe space for you.

He didn’t know why and how, but along the way, he ending up caring for you, and it felt good to him that you were no longer so scared of him as you once were before.

He would actually be concerned about this right away, afterall Kaveh is his friend, so to have his cousin be so afraid of him, it does worry him to a degree.

He would ask for advice from Kaveh on why you are so scared of him and on what he can do to not be so intimidating with you.

At first he fails miserably with his jokes, as you didn’t often get his joke, or that he was telling jokes with a straight face.

However, once he ask Kaveh on what you find funny or makes you laugh, his jokes actually starts to land with you. Especially the bad ones.

He would try and make you laugh every time he meets you, it was progress, it was a connection.

Then he would try and get you to warm up to him, such as asking about your favorite foods or hobbies.

He would actually explain to you on why he is so intimidating and what his workload consist off, as he felt if you understood more, you would be less scared.

You two would actually become closer, as you would make the effort to see him, and make jokes with him, and even disregard Kaveh at times. This would make Kaveh jealous as he was close with you.

You ended up getting along really well with Cyno, especially since he works for the Akademiya, he was able to help you more then Kaveh on things.

He would even help you feel protected and safe, so if you have someone bothering you and being unfair to you, then he would deal with it for you and swiftly. You would feel safe with him since now he uses his intimidating persona on others for you.

Of course it takes time, but you guys would become friends and Cyno would be very happy as he never wanted to scare you, he was happy you opened up to him. He won’t admit it though, cause WHICH MEN IN GENSHIN WILL EVER ADMIT ANYTHING. FUCKING IMMATURE UNCIVILIZED CAVEMEN HOBOS

you put your phone down with a frustrated sigh, feeling hot tears well up behind your closed eyelids. nothing made sense anymore. why was ajax and venti sitting with kuni? you didn’t even let any of them explain because seeing him there just set something off inside of you. so many past memories with him, good and bad, flooded your mind as soon as you saw him and you just had to get out of there.

a hand found it’s way onto your shoulder, pulling you away from the internal hate directed towards kuni. “i know you said you didn’t want to talk about it, but are you sure you’re okay, y/n?” tighnari asked quietly.

as soon as you left the restaurant, you sought out someone who you knew wouldn’t ask questions and let you in their space without a second thought. and that friend was tighnari. underneath his sarcastic exterior, he cared dearly for all his loved ones, so it was no surprise that he immediately welcomed you in with open arms seeing your solemn frustration. cyno, tighnari’s boyfriend, and collei, tighnari’s younger sister, were there as well. cyno because he lived with tighnari in their apartment off campus and collei because she liked visiting her brother as often as her schedule allowed her to.

allowing yourself a bit of comfort, you leaned your head onto tighnari’s shoulder to which he wrapped his arms around you and started rubbing circles into your back, soon followed by cyno and collei huddling around you to join in the embrace (which was surprising because cyno hated physical contact with people he wasn’t close with). the soothing touches and words from your friends was enough to make a couple tears fall down your cheeks.

“fuck, i didn’t want to start crying about this.” you said with a slight laugh at your own predicament.

tighnari looked down on you with eyes full of concern despite the warm smile plastered on his face. “it’s okay to let your emotions out, you know.”

collei had moved from the group hug to type something on her phone while cyno lingered near the two of you. “yeah, but still.” you sighed, wiping your tears with the back of your sleeve.

”i’m sorry, i’m just upset because i saw my ex.” you admitted, though when saying it out loud, you felt a little embarrassed.

”you don’t have to apologize-“ tighnari started before cyno cut him off.

”i’d be upset if i saw my ex too.”

”you don’t have an ex?” tighnari raised an eyebrow at his boyfriend’s attempt to cheer you up. cyno rolled his eyes with a slight smirk, nudging his foot into tighnari’s side. 

“i ordered us some food!” collei chimes in, draping her arms across your shoulders as she leaned on your back. “so let’s forget about your ex! we can watch some movies or play some games and eat.” she suggested, smile never fading. it warmed your heart that they were caring for you this much, you didn’t think you deserved it since you just barged in on their hangout.

”okay, that sounds like fun.” you nodded in agreement despite the internal debate as tighnari and cyno got up to set up the tv while collei opened a nearby closet and pulled out blankets and pillows.

”we should play sonic adventure two.” cyno said to tighnari which got him a snort in response.

”why? so you can explain the sonic lore to all of us?” tighnari joked.

”yes.” cyno stated, you could tell he was beaming at the idea of showcasing all his knowledge on the series by the way he was inching closer into tighnari’s personal bubble. cyno was never good at expressing himself but you’ve sat through countless amounts of tighnari explaining cyno’s body language to you. you were just that good of a friend.

as tighnari and cyno set up the gamecube and talked amongst themselves, collei snuggled up on your left side and offered you a small plush for comfort. “why did you see your ex? like you visited them or?” she asked innocently, collei always reminded you of a younger sibling even despite the two of you not being related at all.

”well,” you started, unsure of whether or not you wanted to admit your outburst at the mere sight of seeing him. “i was supposed to meet up with my two friends to meet our new roommate, since the three of us dorm together and we needed a fourth since the old one moved out. but then he was sitting there with them — and — i don’t know — i kinda flipped out?” you sighed, leaning the side of your head on top of her own while squeezing the plush closely to your chest.

”ah, i see,” collei started, linking your arms together with a sigh, “that sucks. i can’t imagine how you’re feeling.”

”like shit. ugh, i have to text them back.” you looked over at your phone casted off to the side. “fuck! he even texted me, you know?”

collei looked up with a raised eyebrow, “wow, that’s kinda shitty? after ruining your evening he even texts you…” she scoffs and cyno rejoins you two on the couch while tighnari heads downstairs to get the food.

”he sounds like a bitch. bet i can take him in a fight.” cyno sat by the armrest so tighnari can settle between the two of you. you laughed at his joke (although he meant it) and shook your head.

”id love to see that actually.” you bit the inside of your cheek, “but as much as i hate him for breaking my heart… i was kinda relieved to see him?”

“y/n, you lummox.” you heard tighnari start to scold you from behind as he came back with the food. you daren’t turn and look him in the eyes because you could already tell he was standing with the food in one hand and the other placed on his hip. “don’t you dare tell me you’re missing him after he, might i remind you my dear, broke up with you a week before your birthday?” you heard cyno and collei gasp, forgetting they didn’t know that about kuni.

”oh my gods???” collei’s hand was over her mouth.

”yeah, so, about me fighting him…” cyno mutters under his breath, crossing his arms over his chest.

“guys…” you whined, covering your face with your hands. “i don’t want to talk about this anymore, ugh, cyno why don’t you talk about your sonic fursona?” you decided to change the subject away from you as soon as possible so that you could collect your thoughts.

cyno’s eyes lit up and he sat up almost like a puppy dog seeing treats for the first time.

You smiled happily, taking in the bustling crowd around the stage and the small grin on Tighnaris face. Even if it wasn't his original intention to enter...he seemed happy to be in the competition with so many friends. It made your heart swell knowing he would have fun.

You clapped louder, cheering as Tighnaris name was called out, and for a split second you felt nervous. Everyone was there, Kaveh, Cyno, Alhaitham and all your other friends...would they notice your over excitement? No one knew your relationship with Tighnari had become romantic and it still felt to soon to say it out loud...so you calmed yourself. You didn't want to take any chances...not yet.

After the introductions had ended and the details of the competition had been shared everyone had gathered just outside the stage area. You hurried towards them making sure to stand next to Kaveh rather than Tighnari, unsurprisingly Cyno was the main focus of the conversation as he was hoping to win a limited edition card, which to everyone who wasn't a huge tcg fan felt was less valuable than the money prize.

He seemed to be explaining how the card looked and you couldn't help but be slightly intrigued. You listened intently...until you felt the oddly familiar feeling of eyes on you. You quickly glanced in Tighnaris direction and sure enough his attention was on you, he still had his small smile. As soon as you looked at him he flicked his ears in a certain direction, hinting for you to leave with him.

You blushed slightly before giving a almost unnoticeable nod, you still couldn't believe this was really happening...sneaking off to places with someone you cared about...it was exciting. He slipped away in the direction he had pointed to, his tail swinging as he walked...after a few seconds to not look suspicious you followed after him, leaving the others to talk amongst themselves.

As soon as you were both out of sight Tighnari pulled you into a embrace, placing a small kiss on your forehead. "Enjoying the event so far? Seems everyone's having fun and it really looks like this will be a good opportunity to promote my lecture."

You nodded happily, a slight blush creeping onto your cheeks as you gave him a soft kiss. "Your lecture is going to be a success...though I feel like it would have been anyway. Do you think you're going to win the crown?" You wrapped your arms around his neck, savoring the moment.

"I-" Tighnari started but was cut off by a collection of gasps, drawing both of your attention to the group of people about three feet from you. Both of you instantly pulled away from each other but it was far to late for that.

Kaveh had his hands covering his mouth, Nilou, Faruzan, and Collei were clapping, clearly happy for the both of you. Cyno was the first to actually speak though, "It seems a great injustice to have not told your friends of these advancements. I think you both deserve a couple punishments...get it?"

Despite the terrible joke you found yourself laughing, this wasn't how you expected everyone to find out but it seemed...perfect. By the end of the competition though Tighnari hadn't won you all were sharing a meal together, to celebrate not just the completions winner but also the new relationship which everyone seemed to hope would last a long time.

You experience attraction in a different way than others, a way that leads some to criticize you for not doing what they want. Of course, you know that these people will never accept your existence, but that doesn’t mean their words don’t affect you. The words detailing how no one would ever wish to be with you, how you’ll die without a partner by your side, even going so far as to call you inhuman. It’s no surprise that these words affected you.

Eventually you found them, the person you wish to spend almost all of your time with, the person you love with all of your being. After spending a few months with them as your partner, would it be possible for them to love you, even with the different way you love them? The thought began to eat away at you, and you told them. 

Tears ran down your face as you apologized to them, apologizing for yourself, for your way of loving them. Even saying,

“I’m sorry I can’t be a good lover, I’m so sorry.”

Tighnari shifts closer to you, cupping your cheeks in his hands and wiping your tears with his thumbs. He slowly explains that he doesn’t want you to feel you owe him something. He is not entitled to anything, he just wants you to feel safe and cared for. If you keep apologizing he’ll squish your cheeks together and kiss your forehead saying, 

“Love I will explain this to you a million times if you need, but for now you need some tissues and water. How about we get them together?”

Cyno nabs some tissue nearby before lightly taking your hands that were covering your face, wiping your tears himself. He tells you that he loves you for you, and that doesn’t change because of what others expect of you. Depending on how you respond to jokes in a serious moment he may explain in detail the new amount of joke opportunities with you being ace. He’ll make sure that isn’t all he’s talking about though,

“Dear I’ll love you no matter what the world thinks, no matter what insults they throw at you I’ll counter them with the limitless things I love about you.”

Xiao may need a moment to fully process your explanation. The idea of others despising you enough to throw insults at you for… not doing something so trivial. Alas, he knows just how terrible people can be, and comes to an understanding. He slowly opens his arms for you to hug him, not wanting to pressure you but giving you the option to hide your face. And that’s exactly what you do. He may not be the most experienced at giving comfort but he’s definitely trying his best, with his arms gently wrapped around you he sighs,

“Humans are so terrible to each other, you shouldn’t have to deal with them. I’m more than content with having you by my side, you owe me nothing.”

Albedo takes your hand in his, drawing circles into the back of your hand with his thumb. He explains that others' expectations don’t need to be acknowledged when it comes to your comfort, and that others shouldn’t even be commenting on your life period. He takes your hand and softly kisses it, reassuring you,

“I love you very much dear, and I want you to feel comfortable. You don’t need to feel like you owe me something you don’t want.”

Thoma takes off his gloves before wiping your tears with the back of his hand, not wanting the fabric to irritate your skin. He reassures you, explaining that he doesn’t think low of you in any way, that your being ace doesn’t change his love for you. He smooths your hair, and eventually your crying dwindles down, leaving you exhausted and dehydrated. Thoma sees your state and glances towards the kitchen saying,

“If you're up for it I can make you a warm meal, and then you can take a nice nap, what do you say?”

Gorou looks at you with sadness in his eyes, not with you of course, but with the fact you’ve been so hurt by others. He hesitatingly wipes your tear with his thumb, his own eyes growing teary as well. He takes a bit to come up with the right words but eventually he says,

“I’m sorry you’ve been hurt so much, but please know that I love you the same. No matter what they say, you could never be a bad partner for this in my eyes,” He pauses, “If it’ll make you feel a bit better, you can pet my ears. Just be gentle, they’re a bit sensitive, but I trust you.”

Can I request cyno and jin yuan? I’m not sure about the prompt but who doesn’t want more of those two hot generals!!! (Maybe there dating a subordinate or somthing or like there complete opposite) I dunno!

This will be my first post with Jing Yuan, and hopefully it's at least somewhat accurate to his character haha! It's so funny they actually have the same english va, very fitting given the similarities. Gonna do this where they're courting you and you're trying to keep working, which proves to be difficult in one way or another. Gender neutral reader

Cyno:

He seems to be showing up to your workplace for no real reason. Your colleagues never got any problems with him, never being interviewed, and he was mainly talking to you when he could. What drew him to you, you have absolutely no idea.

All you knew was his presence was causing some drama in the workplace. People spreading rumours about you, saying you were either bribing him with less than materialistic needs to cover for crimes, or saying you were under investigation.

But when he was talking to you, he was always either asking to play a game of TCG or he was cracking jokes. From what you heard of him, he was much more different when there was an investigation going on about a suspect.

When you ask Cyno about why he's there, he is honest and explains he was interested in getting to know you better - as a friend, or as a potential lover. You explain your concerns, and Cyno understands the impression some people seem to be getting.

You'd think he would figure out a location where it wouldn't be suspicious, but you'd be wrong.

Instead, he buys you a starter pack for TCG and he makes you play a round. No, you can't back out, not since you've caught his attention. Now, he finally got to train you as his apprentice in TCG while getting closer to you.

Jing Yuan:

You worked with a team of researchers, in a field you were trained specifically, and before you caught his eye you never had any issues.

This all changes when Jing Yuan starts to go out of his way to chat with you. You all knew you weren't in trouble, but the fact that he was spending so much time talking to you led you to believe he must be slacking off somewhere. It wasn't that you thought he didn't care about his work, but there was only so much he could delegate to other people. Your superior pulls you aside one day, telling you to turn him off as much as you could as this was starting to get in the way of your research.

So, you try to turn a cold shoulder to him whenever he made an appearance. He still spoke to you, but you never respond to his words. When that doesn't work, the next time he shows up you try to hide away or find another piece of work you magically needed to complete urgently.

But he was smarter than you thought.

He insists on you talking to him, stating that it was an order to delegate some of your time to him. Your superior isn't very happy to hear of this, but since this was Jing Yuan they give in.

Jing Yuan still let you do your research when you needed to, but when that was happening he would try and catch your attention however he could.

And yes, he makes sure you get your meals in every day. Even if that means hand delivering the goods himself.

Procrastination. Exhaustion. Forgetfulness. Then, last minute responsibilities.

You didn’t mean to leave things to the last minute. Usually, it isn’t so bad that you would leave such a thing to the day before. Thesis writing, yes— guilty as charged; your closest friends and family have watched you scramble and panic to complete and submit your assignments before their due date, have watched you fly out of the library or out the doors of your house with a thick package in hand containing some kind of assignment. Even putting off doctor’s appointments out of sheer laziness for having to get yourself there became a habit— when was the last time you’d gone for a check-up, anyhow?

But this is different, this time. This, you think, is unforgivable. If it had been anything to do with your own birthday where you’d forgotten something, you wouldn’t have paid much mind nor care much about it. But it’s not. It’s Kaveh’s.

This simple, nearly-overlooked fact is why if anyone decides to walk through your front door, they’d find only chaos within your modest home. Your first attempt at baking a vanilla-flavoured cake from scratch had ended in utter failure, having turned the temperature of your oven one hundred degrees higher than you’d meant to, while the second became due to having slipped on a drop of cake batter and sending the newly-filled cake pan flying through your kitchen and into the brand new diamond-shaped crystal vials you’d purchased to put various types of home-brewed essential oils into. Suffice to say, the strength of your throw meant there were no survivors. Oh… The flowers left out to dry outside had been forgotten about in the meanwhile, and it’d taken only a short sun shower for your plans to make potpourri with them to become completely scrapped.

Broom in hand, you mindlessly sweep up shards of glass from the broken vials into a pile in the middle of the floor.

Anything that could have possibly gone wrong, went wrong. After all the time that it took to find all of the ingredients, all of the flowers for the potpourri and the oils, and all in the nick of time to bring over to Lambad’s for Kaveh’s surprise party— what can you even tell him? Knowing Kaveh, he’d still try to placate you and calm you down when you finally tried to explain the situation to him, that the only reason your efforts ran out had been because you forgot it was his birthday.

Your movements are quick to end the longer you find yourself stewing on things. Because everything really should have been foolproof once you had a plan in place: Cyno and Tighnari would swing by to collect the cake and your gifts and bring them along to the tavern, and when Kaveh was due to arrive a half an hour later under the ruse of you taking him out for a simple dinner, he’d arrive there, pleasantly surprised by the faces of his friends and by the cake you’d painstakingly made. It would be an entertaining night of food and drink and friends, and by the end of it, Kaveh and yourself would return to your own home rather than Alhaitham’s, an arrangement neither of them minded to have arranged.

At least the cake will have made it, you say, glancing to the dome-covered thing resting on your counter. Covered in berries of various types and split through the middle and filled with a vanilla custard, it awaits the arrival of your General Mahamatra and Forest Watcher friends. And when they finally do, surprised is barely the correct word to describe their expressions.

“… under… normal circumstances, I would’ve thought up a joke to try and cheer you up,” Cyno admits quietly, his one visible amber eye flitting about the entirety of your kitchen. “I don’t think this is one of them.”

Tighnari sighs almost exasperatedly at him. “Well, I’m glad to hear you at least know how to tell the difference.”

“Sorry for the mess,” you say from your place at your dining table, a hand still raised in greeting from when they first walked in. “It’s all yours, the cake.” You gesture to the damned thing sitting a few feet away from you. “Thanks for coming to get it.”

“Sure, ______,” Tighnari says. You watch him carefully tiptoe around the piles of glass and batter splotches in order to reach, and just as cautiously lift it from the counter to secure it in his arms.

“Are you sure you don’t want any help cleaning up?” Cyno asks.

“If these were normal circumstances, I might’ve said “yes” to your first offer,” you start to explain, “but since they aren’t, and given the fact that I’m probably going to start crying the second you both turn around to leave, no. I’m sure I don’t want help.”

The two exchange a look with the other, their mouths curved down into frowns.

“After I’m done throwing myself my own party of a most piteous kind, we’ll meet you for Kaveh’s.”

“All right, then,” Tighnari says. “Deep breaths, okay? You're alright.”

“Y-Yeah.” And just as you’d predicted, the second they leave, salty liquid is quick to gather along your waterline and completely spill over and down your cheeks. “Damn it.”

Just once, could something go right? If not for you, then for the things you do for others? You’d swear you’d been either cursed in another life or just saddled with an unfair amount of negative karma in this one, and would give anything for just a smooth ride of a day.

“Deep breaths,” you repeat to yourself, voice thick from your tears, using the broom to sweep up the piles into a dust pan. “Deep breaths, deep breathing, c’mon…”

You manage to tidy up with kitchen with less than a minute to spare; in wiping down the last of the mess off the counter, your front door clicks open, swinging creakily on one of the three hinges and revealing the man of the hour.

“Ah, ______! I’m back.” Per his typically routine, Kaveh rests Mehrak on the miniature settee sitting by the door, hangs your house key on the hook above it, and slides off his flats before moving quickly over to you. Before you can even lift your arms all the way, your movements still delayed, Kaveh wraps his around yours, pulling you tight into his warm chest and placing a lengthy kiss against the crown of your head. “I missed you.”

“Welcome home,” you say, voice muffled by his scarf. “Missed you, too.”

For a moment, he hums, before forcing you away from him to examine you.

“What’s wrong?” he insists. Slowly, you shake your head.

“It isn’t anything special… Just that the things I wanted to get done today didn’t… exactly get done.”

“Oh.” By the look on his face, you can tell he’s trying to stifle his relief. “Were they important things?”

“… yes. I’ll try again tomorrow, but I’m just… still a little overwhelmed by it to go into detail right now.” You sigh heavily, only to collapse back against him. “I really missed you so much.”

Softly, Kaveh chuckles, and gently squeezes you to him. “Thank you. Whenever you’re ready to talk about it, I’m here. Okay?” You nod.

“… it’ll definitely have to wait until later, though. Don’t want to ruin the party’s mood before we get ther—” you instantly seize on the spot, sleep-heavy eyes quick to widen at your blunder.

Sensing you having gone stiff within his hold, Kaveh pulls back and smiles bashfully at you.

“D-Don’t panic!” he says. “I’ve known about it for a little while now. Ah, w-well… sometimes, you talk in your sleep.”

“Ah. Oh.” Damn it. “I’m sorry.”

“Don’t apologize, either.” He plants another kiss against your forehead. “Surprise party or a regular one— I’m happy, regardless. Besides! I’m a good enough actor.”

You scoff playfully at him. “I’m glad I’m here to be able to tell you that you’re really not— everyone’ll know, instantly.”

He huffs. “You don’t believe me, huh?”

“Alhaitham will know instantly,” you decidedly correct. Kaveh purses his lips.

“… okay, fine. Alhaitham will know.” His next breath is harsh. “He’s really coming, too, huh?”

“Now that’s how you should act when you walk in,” you muse. “You’re really that surprised by this?”

“Well… it’s just… it’s Alhaitham.”

“And?”

“A-And—””The two of you were once good friends,” you say, interrupting his lame attempt at reasoning with you. “Just because he’s always short with you or sarcastic, it’s not for a lack of caring. You two being polar opposites isn’t a bad thing. Hm…” An unnameable expression rises onto your face. “If not for me in the picture, I’d have bet you two would eventually start dat—”

“Argh, this again?” You giggle into the hand he’d lifted to cover your mouth. “Anyway… I suppose we should be going soon, or he’ll have another reason to get sarcastic.” Placing a kiss upon his palm and successfully flustering him, you grin.

“Can’t have the birthday boy late for his own birthday, right?”

“Right.” Hand in yours, he leads the way back to the front door, only to pause and look to the kitchen wall. Your eyes widen at the batter splatter you’d missed. “Uh…”

“L-Later, okay?”

As foretold, Kaveh’s acting is below average, but as you both agreed, only Alhaitham is the only one to notice. Arms folded over his chest and legs crossed in his seat, he sends a raised eyebrow and a flat expression in your direction.

To your relief, everyone who had responded to your invitations sent out a month ago had been able to make it.

Cyno and Tighnari and Collei had easily been definite “yes’s”, their answers sent back the very next day.

Alhaitham, you didn’t have to question, despite his response of “if my schedule isn’t full, I’ll make an appearance”.

Dehya and Candace had been a long shot. With Dehya and her commissions, she’d been a little difficult to track down, but eventually, you’d managed to pin her at a desert Eremite outpost during a reprieve. Candace, you knew might’ve been the only flat-out “no” due to her duties at Aaru Village, and had even said she may not be able to send a proper response in time.

Nilou decidedly tracked you down to give you an in-person response, and even tell you she’d work on a dance just for Kaveh.

The Traveler and Paimon, who were only bondable thanks to their connection with the Adventurer’s Guild, managed to find you on the streets of Sumeru at the tail-end of their own commission to tell you they’d be sure to make it.

But certainly, the most surprising appearance goes to the Vahumana representative— Hat Guy. Quite obviously, his name had been a moniker, but even still, you can’t help but to laugh every time you have to say it. Okay, maybe he noticed Kaveh’s poor acting, too. He looks young, but still as though nothing could escape such watchful eyes.

After the day you’d had, yes; it really is such a relief. Even the cake made it in one piece! you happily realize, spotting it over Collei’s shoulder.

You drag your eyes away from the scene and focus them specifically onto Kaveh. He’s glowing. You’d argue that he always does, even on his darkest days. Golden and ruby red— he’s truly dazzling, so much so that you find yourself squinting.

“______?” he calls, and perhaps not too non-suddenly. “Are you alright?”

“I get to spend the birthday of the man I love with them,” you answer proudly, returning the few gentle squeezes he gives your hand with a tug of your own. The skin at the corner of his eyes crinkle when he grins. “I'm great. Happy Birthday, Kaveh.”

Hello, sorry if this request doesn’t make sense but I was wondering if you could do headcanons for Tighnari, Alhaitham, Cyno, and Kaveh (you can just pick one if that’s to many) with a reader who has a younger sister who’s like 14 who that they take care of since they don’t have parents, thank you for your time

A/n: Hello! My apologies for this taking so long, some things ended up popping up. But, I do hope you enjoy these. Just them interacting with your sister. Wholesome stuff. I didn't include Kaveh in this one, simply because I don't feel too secure yet in writing him, but once I know him better I'll see to do a follow up 👀 These are not completely proof read

Characters: Tighnari, Cyno, Al-Haitham

Tighnari:

- Tighnari is arguably the best when it comes to dealing with anyone young. He's got the patience and the needed gentle, but sturdy hand. It's like this with pretty much any kid he comes across, but seeing how close he is with you he takes this even more seriously

- He's caring with your sister from the start, politely introducing himself to her and starting a relaxing chit-chat with her while you go about your business if you're in a rush. He really doesn't mind watching over her as long as he's not in a pinch with the rangers and patrols

- She reminds him of Collei, in a way. He doesn't quite understand why but he pinpoints it onto their shared curiosities for his work. Both girls seem to linger at his back and watch him (and his ears) as he handles plants and papers. He indulges them a little, having them believe that he has not noticed on their clear spying

- Tighnari shares his knowledge with your sister, he enjoys it truly. He loves to share the knowledge that may as well help an individual out - and if your sister decides she wants to be a ranger or some form of biologist, you have Tighnari to blame, or thank. He brings out some specimens to show her if a physical presentation is necessary, or he recommends books for her to read if she's willing to delve further into the subject

- Isn't surprised when she eventually asks to pet his ears or rub his tail. He could practically hear her thoughts when she first met him, but she seemed to refrain from asking on the first meeting. Tighnari would bow down slightly or instruct her to climb up higher if she is really short, and even if she tugged a little, he wouldn't seriously scold her, just warn her not to do it again. Tighnari gives her a small warning just to not be too rough beforehand and that "It's just like any dog or cat's ears", but your sister just seems to find his ears the most special

- It is also no issue if your sister has to stay with him for some time, nights or even weeks if Mora is tight, he would help you both out in any way he can. He has Collei to keep your sister company too, since there is so much he can do as an older person in your sister's life. Collei and she seem to get along very well, so there is no issue regarding their friendship

Cyno:

- Now, it takes Cyno quite some time to come around to have the time to meet your sister. So all she knew about him was what she could hear from merchants or Akademiya students. All the terrible rumors also stick, so it's no wonder when she appears to be too nervous to meet him when you brought it up. She would need some confirmation and encouragement that, no, General Mahamatra is not as the boogeyman most describe him as

- Cyno may come off as unfeeling on the first go, as he is the man of analytical mind and one that isn't too in-tune with his emotions naturally, but also since his job does not allow for such soft sympathies. So the conversation may feel a bit tense or awkward when he sees that his ways are pulling too hard on the reins, and that your sister is tense or even uncomfortable

- He would definitely crack several jokes to cheer her up, and somehow- miraculously - your sister feels at ease when Cyno rushes to tell the jokes and explain them. Her laugh brings a wave of relief to Cyno, he may even mutter something and just exhale loudly before indulging in some food to take a reprieve. This man has the best intentions - please, give him a hand, he is a bit slow with sentimental things

-Now, for later interactions between him and your sister, they all become a lot more casual and friendly, your sister would put a lot of trust in him. If his reputation was not enough to guarantee reliability, the friendship they build over time is. She is much more often with him, and some may look weirdly at your sister and Cyno if they see her talking her mouth off about some off-topic with him wearing a faint smile as they go to find you

-It is a cute sight honestly. And also - Cyno has a habit of picking up small trinkets on his way. It can be anything small as a crystalized shard from the dunes, or some luxurious looking missing vase from the forest, and he brings them all back to you and your sister - giving more romantic gifts to you behind your sister's back

Al-Haitham:

-Is the most jaded out of these three. He is not easily affected by emotions, and as such he can come off as quite rude to others around him, or too strict or too stern. It takes him the longest to get the gist of the kids these days, but he does try. He is incredibly understanding despite outwards impressions, and he understands the struggles you both are going through and he does try his best when he ends up with your sister in his care

-Taking the analytical approach all the time proves not to be affective all the time - and this is something Al-Haitham gets to understand later down the line as he gets closer to your sister

-Similar to Cyno, he attempts to remedy awkward situations with some form of jokes, but his humor at the start just is too stern for a child. His jokes needs more working on than Cyno's. But Al-Haitham is adaptable, and he picks up the humor of the kids at that time and slowly this goes into his advantage when he tells these jokes and funny riddles to your sister

-He is quite protective of your sister from the get-go. Seeing as she is an important part of your family, the last of it, he takes it very, very seriously that your sister is safe and out of harms way. Although the other two on this list are also very defensive of your sister, they are much more calm about it and more casual

-Al-Haitham is very observant, and when you sister is in his care he always has his eyes on her, he makes sure she stays in his field of vision where the space is clear and if any changes happen that could be harmful - he would know

- Just as willing to lend his hand in academic knowledge on all sorts of topics. If you woke him up in the night to ask him about all sorts of academic positions within the Akademiya and what they all do, he would break out into an explanation without any questions, and would go to sleep right afterwards. So if your sister came to him for help, he would do his best to simplify the knowledge so she can better understand. He is very open to any questions, but if your sister did end up asking some silly question he would give her a silly answer before elaborating further, unless she caught onto it herself

Welcome home! dear…fungus?

Characters: Dehya, Tighnari, Cyno, Alhaitham, Nilou x gn! reader (separately, established relationships)

Genre: Fluff, crack

Warnings: None I think? I kept switching between fungus and fungi bc idk what’s correct, (does cyno’s humour count as a warning?)

Summary: Sumeru characters react to you bringing home a new pet… fungus?

Notes: Got this idea after playing the fungus event and thought it would be a good chance to write some Sumeru characters! I’m sorry if it seems rushed I just wanted to get this out there since I haven’t been posting regularly. ㅠㅠ Inspired by my slime fics which you can find here: Part 1 — Part 2 (pls forgive me im so bad at naming slimes and fungi)

Dehya:

“Ah there you are!” Dehya sports a warm grin the moment she sees you. She stands at ease, not on high alert like she normally is. You are more interesting than anything in the background, and she prefers giving you her undivided attention. Of course, should any threat arrive she would be ready again before you could blink.

“I was looking for you everywhere- Is that fungi following you?” In an instant her tone drops into pure confusion. If the two of you were in any situation she would be springing into action, smiting the poor fungi before you even knew it was there. But this isn’t just any situation. The small capped creature is spinning around you, and your face is bright and content as you stand in the middle of Sumeru city.

“Yes! He’s my new companion. I called him Zest! There was an event down in Port Ormos where I trained him for a week, but the little guy didn’t want to leave my side at the end!”

“So… now we have to take care of a fungi.” Her expression is unimpressed, but her voice indicates that she’s intrigued, a little amused even.

“I can take care of it myself if you don’t want to-“

“No! I mean, you don’t have to do everything yourself. We do things together, yeah?” Her sudden interruption makes you giggle, and when she sees your face scrunched up in glee warmth rushes to her cheeks.

“At least it’s not a spectre.” She shakes her head, but your smile is contagious, and she can’t help the twitch of her lips. “Well we’d better go show lil’ Zesty his new home,” she says. With a delighted smile, you link your arm with hers and affectionately push into her side, while your fungi bounces along beside you. Dehya glances at the fungi one more time, before looking at your smiling face. She shakes her head again, but her smile only grows wider. The things love makes you do.

Tighnari:

Tighnari steps into his hut while rubbing his neck, his eyes almost drooping to the floor. He had an insanely busy day, and all he can think to do is have some well deserved quality time with you. He looks up expecting to see you all settled into bed, but instead he finds an electro fungi in his spot and you giving it cuddles. Subconsciously his tail flicks with irritation, but he’s more curious than upset.

“Am I in the right house?” He asks, and though it’s intended to be a joke, his stress seeps into his tone. So much so that it jolts you, and you sit up alert on the bed. The fungi also stops its wiggling, as if mimicking you. He notes that, somewhere in the back of his mind.

“Tighnari! I um… this is, well I found… no I mean I got her from Port Ormos. There was an event and they let me keep her.” Your body is stiff as you attempt to explain the situation. Your words get all tied together, as if you were caught red-handed and were reaching for an excuse.

“I’m sorry if I startled you. Just relax and, well, let’s find this little fungi somewhere else to sit other than my side of the bed.” His tone is no longer taut, only tired, but he still gives you a gentle smile. You get up from the bed and walk over to where he is, the fungi following you. The two of you sit together on the couch, while the fungi twirls merrily on the rug.

“I think I understand the situation, but I’m sure you’re aware of the danger it poses. While it seems very tame now, it’s still a wild creature and can be unpredictable.” He glances between your gentle face and the energetic fungi while talking.

“I know… you’re right. Maybe we can watch it for a few days, and if it seems too unsafe or it’s unhappy we can release it.” You give him a hopeful smile, and since your argument is fairly sound, and he’s too tired to discuss it further, he agrees.

“We can spend more time with it tomorrow but for now, let’s get to bed.” You take Tighnari’s hand and lead him to bed, but he stops and looks at the fungi. It wiggles expectantly and he sighs. “Alright Jitterbug, I suppose you can come too.” He turns to follow you, but you just stand there in shock. Now it’s you being pulled along to bed as you laugh at the nickname and sudden fondness for the fungi. He smiles to himself seeing your joyful face, and he already feels all his stress melt away.

Cyno:

“Cynooo! I’m hoooome!” You call into the empty entryway. Your voice is full of energy, but doubt creeps into your heart as your voice echos off the walls. It’s not unusual for you to arrive to an empty house, but you always call out just in case. You walk further in, a small dendro fungus hovering behind you. As you step into the living area you immediately freeze.

Cyno lays on his back, chest rising and falling in a steady rhythm with an utterly peacful look on his face. Your heart dances at the adorable sight, but only for a moment as he seems to stir from your presence. He pushes himself up a bit and rubs a hand across his face. When he turns to you he smiles, and it fills you with warmth. With how early he gets up in the mornings, his sleepy face is a rare sight, but a beautiful one indeed.

“Oh hello dear, I guess I must have dozed off… and hello there fungus.” He sits himself fully upright on the couch, still waking up it seems. But he soon becomes fully alert.

“Wait… what am I saying?” His gaze drifts from your face to over your shoulder. “Wait! Behind you!” You just stand there and sigh.

“Are you awake now?” You giggle a bit when you see his baffled face.

“I- What?”

“This is our new pet! I got the little guy from an event in Port Ormos! If he behaves well we’ll keep him!” You beam at him while the fungus slowly emerges from behind your shoulder, curiously floating towards Cyno. He blinks at it.

“I’ve never given much thought to keeping pets, but if it’s with you I’m sure it will be fun.” You smile wider and do a little jump with joy, as if having won a prize. In all honesty, and it might only be because of his sleepy daze, you had expected him to deny the creature to even enter your home. When you refocus out of your thoughts you find him slightly poking the fungi, who doesn’t seem to mind, with a slight smile.

“We’re calling it Bud. Get it? Because it’s like a flower bud, but also a companion.” He grins and pats the fungus on the head. And while you’re glad they’re already getting along, you can’t help but sigh at your partner’s blunt humour.

Alhaitham:

The sun casts a peach glow over the city and you walk hand in hand with the Akademiya’s scribe. A cool breeze blows, a sign on the oncoming night. You had surprised Alhaitham at his office just as his work ended, ready to walk him home.

“I have a surprise for you when we get home!” You grin, nearly unable to contain your excitment. You remind him of a pot about to boil over, but he refrains from pointing that out. He merely raises an eyebrow at you, ever the cynic.

“If it’s that Kaveh has finally moved out I’ll be over the moon,” he jokes. You lightly hit him, a slight pout on your face, which quickly changes into a devious grin.

“I suppose it does have something to do with roomates.” To this he finds a slight concern wash over him, but also you lean into him playfully he decides to trust you.

The sun is about to disappear beyond the horizon when you arrive home, and Alhaitham nervously unlocks the door. He instantly notices the lack of signs of Kaveh, and relaxes a little. Until you stand in front of him and call out ‘surprise!’ He shuts the door behind him then looks up, and is met face to face with a floating hydro fungi.

“Is this fungus.. the surprise?” His voice is questioning, reasonably so he would argue. But your grin doesn’t falter.

“Yes! I got her from an event in Port Ormos, so I suppose you can consider her your new roomate!” He stands and watches the fungi float around him, like it was checking him out. It strangely makes him feel out of place in his own home. A part of him wants to lecture you on the nature of fungi, and how they wouldn’t be suitable for keeping as housepets. But truthfully, he can’t think of much evidence to support that, seeing as there hasn’t been much, if any, research done on the subject. He looks back at you.

“Well?” You pry. Alhaitham perceives the slight falter of your smile, the way you seem to be holding together your enthusiasm, and he can’t help but feel his heart swell at your passion for this creature, and your desire for him to accept it into his home.

“I suppose it’s much favourable to that nosy architect. Say, maybe we should train it to pester Kaveh.” Suddenly he finds the idea of keeping a fungi quite intriguing.

“Hey! You can’t just use it for nefarious purposes!” You pout at him again, and he has to raise his hands in defeat. As he does, the hydro fungus nuzzles into his cheek and you laugh at his suddenly flustered expression. He pats it awkwardly before it floats back over to you, and you welcome it with a nuzzle and a warm smile. Maybe it’s not such a terrible idea after all.

Nilou:

The lights at the Grand Bazaar just begin to turn on as the sky darkens. Their soft glow illuminates the stage, making it seem even more magical. Although evening has fallen, a crowd steadily forms, filling the Bazaar with chatter and life. Some people browse, while others just stand and chat, but your focus is solely on the graceful and lithe movements of Nilou’s dance.

It’s merely a practice, but since you finished your errands early you had to come see her. There was nowhere you’d rather be. The moment her dance ends time seems to stop, as she holds her elegant pose in the soft lights, looking ethereal. Then she relaxes, and her eyes find you. Her cheeks heat up and she appears ready to burst with both glee and fluster.

“You’re absolutely stunning, as always. I think I fell in love all over again! Craig loved it too!” You gush with rapture in your voice when she comes down to greet you. Her heart soars at your praises.

“Thank yo- who’s Craig? Did I miss something?” Her glee falters a little, replaced by puzzlement. You swallow, realizing your slip-up. Her gaze follows yours as you cast it to the ground, where a small geo fungus stands.

“Um, Nilou, meet Craig!” You smile sheepishly, finally bringing your eyes back to her. But she keeps staring at the lithic creature, watching curiously as it begins to roll around her feet before settling back beside you.

“A fungi?” She questions, and you begin to fear that this was a bad idea. With bated breath you wait as she intently observes it. Suddenly a smile spills across her face.

“He’s adorable! I didn’t know fungi could be so well behaved!” She giggles, and you feel your whole being relax at her enthusiasm. The creature begins to jump around too, excited by her positive tone.

“I was hoping we could look after him together, if you’d be alright with that.” She meets your gaze and beams brightly, her face nearly glowing.

“Of course! Ooh, maybe I can teach it to dance! It could join the theater!” She giggles again and latches onto your arm, settling herself into your embrace. The fungi leans itself into your leg too.

“It seems I might need to compete for your attention,” she says, noticing the fungi. You smile between the both of them, enjoying being surrounding by their affections. Nilou laughs as you struggle to give them exactly equal attention all the way home.

“Home sweet home,” you say once you finally arrive. The fungi and Nilou enter together, and it warms your heart seeing them already adjust to each other. But what warms it even more is how they both cuddle into you once you’ve settled into bed, and you can’t help but feel that this moment is the definition of contentment.

Genshin Impact - Cyno x Tighnari

Cyno stared at Tighnari in a pure state of confusion. What just happened?

The forest watcher turned his head towards the general, a faint shade of pink covering his cheeks while he used his hands in a silly attempt to protect his ears.

“Ahm…” Cyno chuckled nervously, holding his hand in mid air. “Tighnari, are your ears ticklish?”

“They’re sensitive,” the fox snapped back, slightly leaning his body away from the other.

“But that makes them ticklish too,” Cyno replied, watching the other’s struggle with a grin on his face, “or did you just discover they are ticklish?”

Before Tighnari could hiss something else, the general approached him and grabbed his sides, wiggling his fingers all the way to the archer’s lower ribs.

As the first giggles broke through his lips, his first reaction was to lower his arms again and try to pry Cyno’s hands off his body. Tighnari realized his mistake seconds after as he saw the other moving.

“CynoHOho! AHAha, g-gehet yoHOhour hahAHands ahaWay f-from mehehe!” The fox protested as the general trapped him into a hug and used his free hand to gently trace the inner sides of Tighnari’s ear, but it was all in vain.

“Oh, you are really ticklish here, Tighnari,” he said, ignoring the other pleads and scratching teasingly behind the spot, “you know, not even with my best jokes I could get you laughing like this, but I bet you’d be all ears if I told you one of them know, right?”

“S-shuHUHut uhUHup!” The other cackled, trying to move his head and take his ear away from Cyno’s fingers.

“Ah, Tighnari, there is no need to be so cold ~ Let yourself enjoy it!” The general spoke with his lips close to Tighnari’s ear, letting his breath tease it. He decided to take his digits back to inner side, which seemed to be more effective, and Tighnari could only laugh inside his hold.

“I dohOHOHon’t- ahaHAhah, e-enjohoHOhoy it!”

“Oh, you don’t?” Cyno slowly eased his moves and let the other recover from the ticklish assault, but didn’t let him go, “then care to explain to me why was your tail wagging so much? Did we also discover that this forest watcher here enjoys getting tickled?” He shamelessly suggested, spotting how the redness spread across the fox face, covering his cheeks in that red shade. “But don’t worry, we can keep that between us, ok?”

“Y-you!” He stopped himself, biting his inner lip in embarrassment before Cyno let him go of his hug, chuckling audibly behind his back.

‘You are rather adorable like that, Tighnari’, Cyno thought, changing the topic. He could make use of this new discovery in other times as the fox had enough… for now.

Hello! Thanks for the request! I hope you like it, I wasn't exactly sure how I wanted to have this be since it's supposed to be modern. However, I took it as a challenge! Sadly I don't have a good title for this ;w;

➺ Character: Cyno ➺ Genre: Angst ➺ Warning(s): Character death!

Cyno was a man of few words and relationships. He usually kept to himself and didn’t really branch out much. You’d met him at work and he seemed to be a pretty… interesting individual. He was oddly straightforward, had little facial expressions or emotions… but loved telling jokes. Terrible jokes. He also seemed to take things literally and sometimes things tended to go over his head. But you enjoyed his presence nonetheless.

Cyno, on the other hand, was already madly in love with you from the moment he laid his eyes on you. You were sweet and kind and caring. You always laughed at his jokes, you were always the first to help him with anything he messed up on at work, and you never judged him. You enjoyed the silence he often provided and you learned everything about him. Of course the man would fall in love with you.

What he didn’t know was that you were sick and it was only getting worse. You didn’t air out your issues because you didn’t want people to treat you any differently. You didn’t want that baby type of treatment where the second you were too tired, people were forcing you to bed or something. So… you kept your illness to yourself and only a few close family members. That also meant Cyno would never find out. But you didn’t want him to know. He was so… happy and he never tended to worry about anything and this wasn’t something you wanted to add to his already full plate with work and school.

But then came the dreaded day you had been waiting for. You’d visited the doctor for your weekly checkup and you’d heard the one line you didn’t want to.

“I’m sorry, (y/n), but there’s nothing we can do beyond this point. We only estimate another week or so but this is so sensitive we can’t be sure. Could be more, could be less so… it’s best you stay here in case something worsens.” After that, you stopped listening. Giving the man a smile, you only nodded.

“Ok… thank you, doctor.” He could tell you were upset and stood up to help you lay down.

“We’ll alert all immediate family members, if you’d like.” With your permission, they contacted your family but upon your request… they also called Cyno. He rushed to the hospital, emotions in shambles, and panic written on his usually neutral face.

“(y/n)!” He yelled as he threw the door open, eyes wide with fear. “Wh-what happened?!” He ran to your side and immediately grabbed your hand.

“It’s ok, Cyno…” once you’d gotten him to calm down a little, you proceeded to explain that you were sick. Of course, the main question was why you didn’t tell him.

“I’m sorry… I wanted to spare you the stress. I knew it wasn’t going to get better so… I didn’t want you to worry. What I didn’t realize… was this was too late. I should’ve told you earlier… we could’ve…” you paused, not knowing how to finish your sentence. When you looked at Cyno, your eyes widened. He was… crying. Tears were pooling in his eyes, slowly cascading down his warm cheeks.

“Don’t leave me.” He said as he leaned in, laying his head on your shoulder. You wrapped your arms around him, hugging him as you felt him begin to break down.

“I’m… not gonna be too far, you know. I can’t leave you alone. Who else would you tell your jokes to?” You said, making him look at you. You almost winced at the raw emotion in his crimson eyes. Sadness and loneliness were the strongest. Reaching up, you slid your hand under his eyes, drying his tears but it was in vain. He started to cry again.

“I love you…” he said as he grabbed your hand and touched his cheek. “I love you so much, I-I don’t want you to leave.”

“I…” you didn’t know how to tell him you didn’t feel the same, but from the way Cyno looked at you… he could probably tell.

“It’s ok… I just wanted you to know. You don’t have to say anything. It’s ok.” That was his way of sparing you the pain of rejecting him. You only gave him a weak smile as you leaned your head back on the small pillow. You were tired… so tired. You could hear other voices in the back- mainly your family returning for the umpteenth time but… everything seemed so far away.

Cyno called your name a few times but after a moment, your hand that touched his cheek limply fell. He raced to grab it, bringing it back to his face but pausing. You… wouldn’t want to do that. Slowly, he lowered your hand, his head lowering with it. You were gone.

A ctivities - What do they like to do with their s/o? How do they spend their free time with them?

Cyno, unsurprisingly, likes to play Genius Invokation TCG with you! If you don’t know how to play, he’ll gladly teach you and give you some advice on how to make your deck. He always has his own ready whenever he suspects you’re going to visit him.

Your lover is a busy man and doesn’t have much free time, so besides playing together, he’s willing to do something you like instead. Even if he doesn’t particularly enjoy it, he can deal with it from time to time just to spend time with you. He’d also enjoy traveling with you! For your birthday, he’ll take a few days off, so you can use that time to take a nice trip with Cyno.

B eauty - What do they admire about their s/o? What do they think is beautiful about them?

It’s a difficult question. The General Mahamatra thinks everything about you is beautiful, from your looks to your personality, once he falls in love with you, he can’t think of any other answer. But, Cyno loves your eyes very much, seeing how you are always honest with him.

If you’re with him, that means you have a decent sense of justice yourself. He admires that, along with your morals and your opinions in many topics. And, if you have a goal in mind, tell him. He’ll do everything in his power to support you, as long as you remember that there are limits for everything.

C omfort - How would they help their s/o when they feel down/have a panic attack etc.?

It would depend on your own reactions. Depending on that, Cyno will either offer quiet comfort or try to lighten the atmosphere by telling one of his jokes, and then probably explaining it in great detail to make sure you got it. If he does the latter, you might end up forgetting about what upset you before to try and stop him.

If you prefer someone to listen to you, or hold you in silence as you calm down, he can also do it. He’ll stay with you, gently rubbing your back, maybe leaving a kiss on your head if you let him. Cry, scream, do what you need. Cyno won’t judge you when you trust him to be with you during your weakest moments.

D reams - How do they picture their future with their s/o?

Cyno doesn’t have any expectations about the future, preferring to cherish the present instead of daydreaming about something that might or might not happen. As everyone else, he does have hope, but he doesn’t really think about it a lot.

He would like to be with you but, as mentioned before, he focuses more on the here and now. Your lover prefers to cherish your touch, your smiles, the moments you share together in the present rather than think about what could happen in the future.

E qual - Are they the dominant one in the relationship, or rather passive?

He’s in between. He does take the lead sometimes, but most of the time he prefers to share that with you. Cyno doesn’t exactly care about being dominant or passive in that aspect, he only cares about being with you.

Feel free to take the lead when you want to, as long as you’re respectful of his opinions and don’t try to force something, he doesn’t mind. If you don’t like to lead, he can do it, once again he doesn’t mind. In the end, it depends on your own preferences.

F ight - Would they be easy to forgive their s/o? How are they fighting?

If the fight happened because of something serious, no. Cyno is very firm with his beliefs, and has clear boundaries that will turn the fight into something truly serious. If you overstep these boundaries, it won’t be easy to be forgiven by him, and it’s pretty likely that your relationship won’t continue.

He’s pretty rational and tries to avoid misunderstandings with you, but this doesn’t mean that fights won’t happen. He’s busy a lot of the time and it can cause problems in a relationship, he can take his duty too seriously sometimes. When he’s angry, he doesn’t raise his voice, but when you see his cold eyes you wish he would yell instead. Another thing that may start a fight, is if you put yourself in danger, Cyno can’t think clearly in that kind of situation.

G ratitude - How grateful are they in general? Are they aware of what their s/o is doing for them?

He’s grateful and aware of what you do for him. Cyno knows that it isn’t easy to love him, as he doesn’t really express his emotions often and is a rather… famous person in Sumeru. He appreciates how patient and understanding you are.

Once your relationship turns serious, he’ll try to not spend too much time outside. If you’re doing your best to understand him and love him for who he is, with his flaws and everything, he wants to at least try to spend more time with you. It’s the least he can do.

H onesty - Do they have secrets they hide from their s/o? Or do they share everything?

Cyno tells you everything he can, but has to keep a few secrets. He’s straightforward when he can’t say something, usually because it’s a secret from the Akademiya or something regarding a sensitive topic.

Besides that kind of things, he likes to be honest with you and expects you to do the same. Slowly but surely, he wants to share most of his secrets with you, as you’re someone he knows he can trust with his life. He hopes you feel the same about him, too.

I nspiration - Did their s/o change them somehow, or the other way around? Like trying out new things or helped them overcome personal problems?

Indeed! The General Mahamatra started taking more breaks after your relationship began, to see you more often. You help him a lot when he finds it difficult to relax or sleep. He’s also willing to try new things if you like them, whatever they are, as long as you don’t break any rules.

Cyno would most likely be able to help you with your fears and insecurity. He’ll be there to support you whenever you need him as you fight against something you fear, no matter how silly you may think it is. And, although he does feel a bit… flustered sometimes, he will shower you with honest compliments whenever you’re insecure about yourself.

J ealousy - Do they get jealous easily? How do they deal with it?

Not really. As said before, Cyno trusts you with his life, so he trusts that you wouldn’t cheat on him. He wouldn’t, however, find it amusing if someone ignored your words about how you have a boyfriend and continued flirting with you.

In the mentioned situations, he simply has to step in. Most people, if not everyone, in Sumeru is aware of who he is, so that person will leave after a single glare if they’re wise enough. If not, well… let’s just say that Cyno doesn’t have a problem with showing his polearm. Threatening? No, no, it’s just a warning.

K iss - Are they a good kisser? What was the first kiss like?

The first kiss you shared with him was short and quick, but not less sweet. He wasn’t used to that kind of affection, so he would be a little clumsy for a while. It’s actually cute, as he does his best to learn more about how you like to be kissed.

After he got used to it, it’s safe to say that his kisses leave you breathless. Cyno’s lips start gently touching yours, but his kisses are long and slow if he has the type to spare. Even when he doesn’t, he kisses you with so much passion that you can’t complain. Don’t let his stoic face fool you, he can’t hide how much he loves your lips when he kisses you.

L ove Confession - How would they confess to their s/o?

It would take quite a long while to even think about confessing his feelings. Not because he doesn’t want to accept them, and fear of rejection isn’t the main reason as to why he stopped himself so many times, but because of who he is. As the General Mahamatra, he has many enemies, and putting you in danger is what he’s afraid of.

So, it was most likely a slip up. Maybe in a situation where you put yourself in danger, not listening to him, and it triggers something inside Cyno. His face doesn’t change, but he’s a mess inside, scared of the thought that he could’ve lost you and upset because you didn’t listen. In the end, he accidentally confesses to you. No one would believe that someone like he confessed in accident, but it’s difficult for him to keep his emotions in check around you.

M arriage - Do they want to get married? How do they propose? What would the marriage be like?

Cyno isn’t really interested in marriage, but if you want to get married, he’ll think about it. You’ve had some conversations about this topic, and if your dream is for him to propose, he doesn’t mind. He’s okay if you want to propose to him.

Either way, it has to be completely private. Only a few friends, family members and the like, to avoid making it too known. A private wedding, a day to always remember and a promise to stay together. Even though he wasn’t interested at first, he can’t help but let a soft smile appear on his face at the thought of putting a ring on your finger.

N icknames - What do they call their s/o?

He’s pretty simple with the nicknames… when you aren’t alone, at least. If you’re outside or around friends, he would call you “love” or “dear”. Cyno doesn’t call you by a pet name often though, he prefers to keep most affection in private.

And when you’re alone, he can just drop the cheesiest nicknames you’ve ever heard. Is he serious, or just joking? You can never be sure. But, he does like to call you “honey” sometimes, too, when he’s relaxing against you. He whispers the nickname close to your ear, asking you if you want to rest.

O n Cloud Nine - What are they like when they are in love? Is it obvious for others? How do they express their feelings?

The only one who will notice that you have Cyno wrapped around your finger is Tighnari, no one else can see the signs. They can’t see the way Cyno’s eyes soften ever so slightly when you’re around, how he likes to stay close to you, ready to put you behind him in case danger comes… His expression doesn’t change much, except for the almost unnoticeable gentleness and stares.

He’s pretty subtle, in a way. He expresses his love for you by making time to be by your side, telling you his newest jokes and bringing small tokens he thought you would like. It’s not showy, he’s not singing you praises all day around, but he’s always thinking about you.

P DA - Are they upfront about their relationship? Do they brag with their s/o in front of others? Or are they rather shy to kiss etc. when others are watching?

Cyno has a… reputation, as we all know. As the General Mahamatra, he has made many enemies that hold a grudge against him, so he doesn’t want you to be seen as a target all the time. Therefore, he prefers to avoid most types of affection in public. But, sometimes, he does hold and gently squeeze your hand if he thinks it’s safe enough.

If you’re in front of friends, he’s a bit more open about it. Hand holding, a short hug and a peck are always alright. If you’re with close friends, those you can trust without a doubt, Cyno will even let you sit on his lap if you want to.

Q uirk - Some random ability they have that’s beneficial in a relationship.

He always knows when something is bothering you, especially if it’s something that may cause you harm. Cyno can’t help but notice some of the signs you unconsciously give, be it the way you can’t look at him when he asks you about your day, or anything that may tell him you’re hiding something.

He won’t let it slide. Whatever it is, it’s making you anxious, and he wants to help you. If it’s because of someone, well… he’s a pretty good hunter, and it seems he’ll have a new prey to find. There are barely any limits for him to protect you, and he’ll use his authority to stop whatever is upsetting you if he has to.

R omance - How romantic are they? What would they do to make their s/o happy? Cliché or rather creative?

He can be romantic sometimes, especially if he sees that you like it. Cyno shows it by getting you the prettiest flowers he can find, telling you that they made him think of you. Your lover can be a little cliché, but that doesn’t make his gestures any less charming.

He’s willing to do almost everything, as long as it’s not against any rules and it doesn’t put you in harm’s way. If him taking a break to travel with you makes you happy, he’ll take a few days off to be by your side. And, although he won’t tell anyone, a part of him wants to kiss you under the stars after spending the day exploring together.

S upport - Are they helping their s/o achieve their goals? Do they believe in them?

Of course! Cyno will do everything in his power to help you whenever you need it, he’ll always be there for you. No matter how impossible your goal may seem, he believes in you, and won’t let anyone make fun of you.

But, if it’s something dangerous, you must let him accompany you. As someone who is very stubborn with his goals himself, he knows he won’t be able to change your mind, so he at least wants to ensure your safety.

T hrill - Do they need to try out new things to spice out your relationship? Or do they prefer a certain routine?

A routine may sound boring to some, but your lover is a man who needs to have some time to just relax, to rest without any surprises. It’s comforting to find himself following a routine with you, someone who loves him and stays with him.

Cyno does like to try something new from time to time, from a new game to exploring a place that caught your attention. An activity that isn’t particularly incredible, but creates new memories for the two of you.

U nderstanding - How good do they know their partner? Are they empathetic?

Your lover is a man who pays attention to detail, at least when it comes to people. He unconsciously learns some of your quirks, noticing how your eyes light up when you’re talking about a topic you like, even if you never told him that you did, and the same happens with the things you dislike.

He’s a bit more empathetic with you, a part of him can’t help but soften around you, even though he learned to not let his emotions control him. With you, he can feel himself let his guard down ever so slightly, and he yearns to understand you more and more.

Cyno loves when you fall asleep near him. It shows how much you trust him, letting your guard down knowing he won’t let anything harm you. Sometimes, he lets himself caress your hair, his touch soft as a feather. Sadly, you won’t be able to see the smile on his face.

He also likes to watch you from time to time, but tries not to do it too much in fear of you catching him and thinking it’s creepy. Still, his red eyes always end up staring at your relaxed form, engraving your features in his memory.

In public, not really. Like it was said before, he prefers to avoid most affection outside… but in private, it’s completely different. He loves to hold you and kiss your lips as many times as he can before he has to go.

When you have free time together, his arms are usually around your waist, or his hand touching yours, or your arm, or anywhere as long as he’s touching you. It helps Cyno relax, reminding him that you’re right next to him. If you hold him, he’ll absolutely melt.

Y earning - How will they cope when they’re missing their partner?

Cyno tries to focus even more on his duty, but his patience is noticeable shorter. He wants to finish everything he has to do so he can finally go back home, where you would greet him with a sweet kiss and an even sweeter smile.

If this doesn’t work, he’ll just stare up at the sky, watching the stars and wondering about how you’re doing. He has to force himself to not let his thoughts wander too much, he can’t let his guard down, after all.

Yes, he’s willing to take many risks for you. Cyno won’t hesitate to face the most dangerous enemies as long as you’re safe, and he doesn’t even care about his reputation if he catches someone insulting you.

No matter what, he will protect you. If he has to use his authority or violence, he doesn’t care, no one will touch a hair from your head.

He's such a home slice home bread

Like you'll be chilling when all of a sudden he spits the worst pun you've ever heard, it'll leave you in tears and on the floor sobbing when he tries to explain it on a quantum level.

You'll probably be a forest watcher, traveler or part of the Akademiya to see him in work mode, in which he's less funny but will probably turn to you after absolutely wholloping some guys and make a dumbass pun. Cue Tighnari's pun senses tingling and he cringes in pain and sympathy to whoever has heard it.

Cyno's extremely caring though, and although he may not show it outwardly at work it's the little things when he's in work mode that show it.

He gives you tips and explanations of things you may not understand constantly, so the next time you'll be prepared, mainly in the desert.

Brings extra water and makes sure you're hydrated, even if you're from the desert and know it well, he also makes sure to give breaks if you're beginning to slow down. Especially if you're the type of person to pretend your fine when you're not.

Will 100% bring you to meet Tighnari and Collei if you haven't already, he has high respect for them and wants a wider audience for his jokes.

He greatly respects your decisions and opinions, however, Cyno tends to state this matter of factly and won't sugar coat. If he has any issues he won't be afraid to say it outright.

Imagine as friends but more outwardly affectionate. He's not gonna snuggle up to you and do intense pda or anything, it's more lovingly staring and smiling when it's just you two or when it's with close friends.

Makes puns about and with you, no matter how you crumble in pain when he does, you will probably burst out laughing because it's him.

He's very sweet in a relationship, and although he works a lot, he does try taking more breaks so he can make sure you're okay. However, work is important to him and he won't take long time off, you shouldn't expect him to drop everything for you as much as he'd like to.

Tends to check for injuries whenever you come home if you're an adventurer or anything like that, may accidently treat you like a colleague during this, but it shows he cares a lot.

Makes little snacks and lunches when you go away if you work, or just if you tend to forget to eat when he's away. They can be tasteless and somewhat disgusting depending on what you like, but he's so used to them on missions he tends to not realise and so relies on your opinion from previous lunches he's made.

Would love you to make lunches and snacks for him, especially since he typically has the not so nice lunches and snacks mentioned before. Even if you can't cook, a piece of goddamn lettuce would have him gently smiling on missions while munching away.

Kaeya

Regardless on whether you do or don't drink or are too young, he likes bringing you to the tavern since he spends a lot of time off work there, and you'll probably become friends with Venti and Rosaria as a result since they're his drinking buddies.

If you have a sibling, I imagine Kaeya would judge them on if he likes them or not, and especially if the relationship is strained like him and Diluc. Speaking of, I think it'd be funny if he gets you in on pranks or little jokes with him.

If you're older and comfterable with it, he'll playfully and jokingly flrit with you, stopping if he reconsises that it may be going too far.

He teases you non romantically regardless, making fun of you while you roll your eyes and sigh in annoyance. Kaeya thinks it's funny to poke your face when you're busy or to gently yank on your hair if you won't pay him attention.

Nahh he 100% does that dumb thing where he's like 'we need to talk' with a serious face and somber actions then starts ranting about how Diluc removed his favourite wine.

Honestly, I imagine him to be someone that gets all flirty but the second someone returns that energy he's pausing his sentence and blushing. Kaeya will recover easily, but don't think his blush still isn't visible.

He likes playing with your hair if you have any, it's something sweet and small, a gentle activity at the end of the day for you both to destress. Will lay in bed while telling you of work and how he annoyed Diluc with paying some of Venti's tab. And he does it to get attention sometimes, whenever you're working or talking to somebody else he'll annoy you because he loves you.

I imagine he'd like you to not work, he's perfectly fine with you working though, Kaeya just really likes someone to come home to and to spend his free time with. That or you being a part of the knights. He will be a bit sad if you're too busy with work and they overlap with his free time, but he respects you and he doesn't want to push you to quit.

Disagree all you want, Kaeya likes biting, not always in the thats what she said way, just a lil nibble on the cheek or shoulder and he's happy for a minute before he wants to do it again. Never too hard and if you don't like it, he's chill. Overjoyed if you really like it and will do it back, he 100% will do it in the that's what she said way if you like that however.

Itto

This fool, this blundering baffoon. If you become part of his gang, you'll either be in prison with him awkwardly waiting for Shinobu, or bailing him from prison with Shinobu like five times a every week.

Will pat you on the back with the force of a thousand sun's, you literally nearly die one time because he's unaware of his strength.

Since Itto doesn't seem like he'd warn you beforehand, imagine if you bring beans somewhere and he just starts being over dramatic. Playing up how you totally tried to kill him, after all the jokes over though he will probably beg you to get rid of them.

Forgets his strength and sometimes picks you up like a cat, may accidently trample over you if you're smaller.

BEETLE BATTLES it'd be so fucking cool, if you beat him, dude acts like his pride is SHATTERED. Although I think he might not actually care too much, especially if you're younger because he wants to hype you up.

He's a gentlemen even if he has the brain of a spoon, will help you with whatever chores you need to do or any heavy lifting tasks you can't complete.

Now I don't mean this in the ykyk way, but he's so fucking large, like he could probably pick you up over his shoulder regardless of you weight, height or how muscley you are. Since he's a fuckin oni.

I think oni live longer than humans, in which case, SAD FUCKING TIMES. He realises this after joking you'll stay with him for hundreds of years, and you sort of blink awkwardly. Not wanting to say it before he figures it out.

He then goes on a quest to find a way for you to live longer, he even begs the shogun at some point, one of his lowest of lows in his opinion.

This guy hates leaving your side, and if he has to I imagine he'd be your personal bodyguard, regardless on how strong you are or what battles you've faced. To him you're a fragile human and he doesn't want to lose you.

This man cannot cook for his life, you have to do the food and probably work if you want stable money given he usually pranks people all day with his gang. however, he will clean and get his members to help out if it becomes too taxing.

Failing to push him away - Cyno

You opted not to work anywhere, simply living as a hermit. You had pushed enough people away that you convinced yourself that nobody would come looking for you, and you were no longer going to be a burden on the people who you cherished. You survived off the food in the wilderness, courtesy of the courses Tighnari gifted you back when you weren’t struggling with your mental health as much. 

But your activity was deemed suspicious by the General Mahamatra. Truth be told, Cyno was beginning to sense that there was meaning behind the lies you told. Many people, even before Tighnari, didn’t want to be around you given your reputation of making up lies that you calculated to eventually backfire. Cyno had plenty of experience when it comes to people lying, and he hadn’t found anything to pin you to a crime. 

So, he starts to conveniently come across you during a walk, inviting you to a game. You reluctantly agree, knowing Cyno likely was bored and needed something to do. After the game, he left, and you thought that would be the last time you saw him.

However, you were proven wrong. Cyno showed up quite often, always inviting you to a game. Over time, you started to indulge in conversation, listening to his jokes and reacting to them as appropriate. You knew it wouldn’t be long until your mental health took a dip again, the loneliness not helping, so you wanted to enjoy your limited time with Cyno.

Since nobody else walked along to talk to you, you decide to lie directly to Cyno about hating him. You figured he would just nod and walk away, no pushback, and leave you as he rants to Tighnari about how horrible of a person you were.

Yet, Cyno knew much better than you did. He figured out why you lied to people after Tighnari spoke about how you lied about him. It was clear to him that you were trying to make a poor image of yourself, and from your first interaction it was obvious to Cyno your self esteem was rather low.

“Do you wonder why you can’t get anyone else to play another stupid game with you?” You spit out, Cyno not flinching nor showing any reaction to your comment. “You’re boring, that’s why.” You try to jab at Cyno, Cyno not reacting at all. “Are you listening to me, or are you zoning out to not hear the truth?”

“No. I am ‘zoning out’ because I know you’re lying to me.” Cyno calmly explains, your form sitting upright as you try to rack your brain for ideas. “Isn’t it lonely to push people away with lies that tarnish your reputation?”

“Isn’t it lonely to...to...” you trail off, trying to think of something horrible to say to push Cyno away. “To be...”

“Stop.” Cyno continues to talk. “You’re normally lovely to be around. I know your mental health contributes strongly to your negative actions. You need help, and I want to help you.”

“Why? I’m an anchor on everyone I’ve ever interacted with.” You croak out, tears starting to fall. “You have more important things to do as the General Mahamatra.”

“I hardly think saving you from yourself is not worth my time.” Cyno refutes. 

“Well, I can’t take back any of my lies. It’s not like any of the people I care for will give me a chance to redeem myself.” You explain quietly. 

“If you trust me, I’m sure I can explain the situation to Tighnari.” Cyno offers.

“There’s no way he’ll understand it.” You refute, Cyno shaking his head lightly. 

“Tighnari is open minded. I’m sure with the evidence from articles I discovered over the years, he will come to the same conclusion I have.” Cyno states. “Now, let me take you to a doctor. They can discuss treatment plans with you.”
