“WINNIPEG FLOODED WITH BOGUS COINS,” Montreal Star. June 26, 1931. Page 8. --- WINNIPEG, June 26 - (C. P.) - An agent for two counterfeit gangs, one believed operating in Montreal and the other in Chicago, was sought by police yesterday following a bank warning to merchants to watch out for spurious 25 and 50 cent pieces. Some are bogus United States coins and some Canadian and the city has been flooded with them during the past two weeks.
The work of masters in the illegal trade, police are certain the coins were not manufactured in Winnipeg. They are identical with those that were passed-off in Montreal and Chicago recently.
Recently arrests were made in both Montreal and Chicago, local police said, but the actual counterfeiters escaped, only their agents being captured.

British Columbia is proposing legal changes that would allow the government to regulate the supply of electricity to cryptocurrency miners. A statement from the Ministry of Energy says cryptocurrency miners consume large amounts of electricity to constantly run high-powered computers while creating very few jobs or economic opportunities. It says the legislative amendments would allow the government to prohibit or restrict the provision of electricity to cryptocurrency miners because “unchecked growth” of the sector could make it challenging and more costly to provide electricity to homes and other businesses.

Money is fake because when someone pays with a Canadian quarter I still accept it as being worth the same as an American quarter, the bank will still take a Canadian quarter from you, most stores will accept a Canadian quarter as having the same value of an American one. The only places that won’t accept it are atms and the government because “technically” they don’t have the same value. Even though the entirety of society can accept a Canadian quarter and an American quarter and being worth the same amount

Now that we have more free time (and access to the family's smart TV with basically every subscription service..) what are some things y'all recommend?
Doesn't have to be recent, just stuff y'all have enjoyed.
Actually, bonus points if it's already completed.
Not going to name EVERYTHING we've already seen but we definitely lean more on the fiction or at least lightheaded side. Love a good romance plot (whatever genders) so long as the slow burn isn't room temperature for 80% of the series.
Extra bonus points if you can name something that takes place outside of Europe, North America, or Japan.

hi there 👋🏻
I never thought I would have to do this but I'm in pretty serious trouble financially I am out of money and my credit card is almost maxed out
I know now is a really shitty time with the holidays coming up and the everything happening in the world right now
I just need to pay my rent in not even thinking about holiday gifts or food at the moment. Landlord said he was going to take a chance on me when I signed the lease and the second I can't pay he'll start the eviction process so my months long panic has launched into over drive
I set up a ko-fi account.
Unfortunately I'm not a writer or an artist, i can do 3D CAD modeling for prototyping, 3D printing etc. Also I'll straight up do your math/physics homework for you or help you with it. Again I know this is a really shitty time but I appreciate even just reading this far thank you :)
I can probably over draft my account a bit so I have

Something I don't get is when someone is talking about things being expensive and then some americans are like, it's not actually a scary $125 guys it's actually only $80 which is still a lot but it's actually kinda reasonable for the item
And it's like no!!! It doesn't work like that!!! Just because it costs less in usd doesn't mean the person didn't actually pay that much!!
If you buy a mug for $125aud, and you live in australia, you're paying that in $125aud, not $80aud!! Currency conversion doesn't matter in the slightest for understanding because in practice it is functionally the same as paying $125usd for a mug in america!!
If I earn $15cad/hr, and someone in Poland is earning 15zł/hr, and they bought an item that was like 150zł, me converting that price into Canadian and being like it's actually not that bad bc it's only like $50cad :), it doesn't change the fact that that for them!! It was a lot more!! Like functionally that's the same as $150cad
Functionally 1cad = 1zł = 1aud = 1usd = 100¥
Like the only time currency conversion is useful is for figuring out how far your coin goes when used in another economy, not for understanding if an item is or isn't expensive for a person living in said economy

thinking about the man who was CONVINCED that prices rounded to the nearest dime instead of the nearest nickel. FIVE YEARS after the penny was abolished and the rule went into effect. he stood at the counter and argued for a good minute. because he wanted the extra five cents rounding up to the nearest dime would have given him. how did he go FIVE YEARS thinking this. who was this man

A sliming scene from a 1982 episode of You Can't Do That on Television was also used in the opening of the 1987 film Fatal Attraction, and references to the series have been used in mainstream U.S. television series ranging from NewsRadio to Family Guy. This aspect of the cult show later became iconized in Nickelodeon's slime logo, subsequent game shows such as Double Dare, What Would You Do?, Figure It Out, and BrainSurge revolving around slime, pies in the face, and other forms of mess, and live events in which participants (including celebrities, particularly at the annual Kids' Choice Awards) would be offered the chance to get slimed or publicly humiliated. In the late 1980s, Nickelodeon and its Canadian counterpart, YTV, even held write-in contests in which the grand prize was a trip to the YCDTOTV set in Ottawa, Ontario, to be slimed. The popularity of Nickelodeon's slime shows spawned imitators such as the short-lived 1988 syndicated game show Slime Time (no relation to Nickelodeon's later Slime Time Live), in which schoolteachers were the victims of green gungings.
The most famous instances of the said gunging tradition opens in 1987 with the first Kids Choice Awards.
In Britain and Europe, in the early 1980s, children's gunge-based game shows were the norm.
