Zatch Bell 2 Ch. 20 impressions (spoilers):

I was really excited when I first read this chapter, but the more I reflect on it, the more troubled I feel…

ZB2’s pacing has been breakneck from the start, but I was still disappointed by how abruptly this Brago and Sherry mini-arc ended. Maybe it’s because I selfishly want as much time with them as possible, but I’m also worried that Raiku might be juggling too many characters here.

After all, 27 demons are set to return. 27 is an awful lot. And when you add in all the new characters too, that’s a huge cast… Is there really time to give all these lovable characters the development and breathing room (narratively speaking) they deserve?

Of course, it was super satisfying to see Brago destroy the car, and I laughed at Sherry’s little smile. Buttttt I was also hoping to see at least a brief flashback that explains how Sherry ended up in this marriage, or a scene where Sherry finally speaks up for herself.

I have to trust that Raiku is saving those for later. Knowing I’ll have to wait years for the payoff just hurts a little. (This isn’t a dig at the release schedule, btw. I worked on a webcomic for 12 years before throwing in the towel, so I know how exhausting cartooning is.)

The only new thing we learned about Sherry is that she’s definitely -not- in an open marriage, or else she would have intervened when Brago grabbed Claude. So she really was just being cheated on… Guess I was overthinking it with all my convoluted theories. 😅

(As an aside, I follow a handful of Japanese or Korean BraSherry fan-artists on Twitter, and they LOATHED this chapter. Oh, how they hated it. I normally think it's funny to watch people melt down on Twitter, but I ended up having to mute them all because the negativity was overwhelming. I agree with some of the criticisms, but many of the complaints I see seem a little immature, idk...)

One moment I personally liked: Brago refusing to make eye contact with Sherry. Sherry seems to think that he doesn’t want to talk about his death, but as a shipper, I can’t help but wonder if it’s also because he’s in a state of shock about seeing Sherry married with kids.

I was also pleasantly surprised to see that Prof. Riddles would be returning next. Things are going to get really interesting with Vino and possibly White/Clear Note joining the fight. I honestly have no idea wtf is going to happen there, which is always a good thing!

A Cappella at the Rock (Newtown, PA) — VoicePlay live performances

The annual pop a cappella festival at Council Rock High School North consists of a day of workshops and master classes, followed by an evening competition, then a concert from a professional group that includes a special group number with all the students. In 2017, the featured professionals were VoicePlay (with Erik Winger as their substitute baritone). This event was the middle of a whirlwind weekend for the guys, but they always enjoy doing educational outreach.

NOTE: The video quality for most of these recordings isn't great because the audience member was trying to be discreet and respectful of their neighbors. The audio is okay, though.

I love Oliver and sherry here, Oliver has more reason to seek her out "when I was younger I wouldn't leave my house and everyone bullied me for it, one day mark showed up and refused to stop coming everyday until I finally left" he relates to her and after he fights Claude's nightmare he even feels a touch.. jealous at her and her father reuniting if drippys dialogue is anything to go by, maybe thinking soon he'll have that with his mom

Based on feedback to this video, they recorded a full version of "Phantom of the Opera" with Rachel Potter just over a year later.

They partnered with L.A.-based singer AJ Rafael for a beautiful rendition of "Seasons of Love" in early 2017.

"Popular" was, of course, included in their epic 2022 Wicked medley with Emoni WIlkins and Rachel Potter.

○ Friend and frequent collaborator Rachel Potter had understudied Glinda in the second national tour of Wicked.

○ They have since done a few collaborations with John Pinto Jr., a longtime cast member in The Book of Mormon both on Broadway and in the touring company.

○ This medley was included in their setlist for the 2015 Sing-Off tour.

○ The video got a nice feature article on Broadway World.
