BOW AND ARROW | Kenshi Yonezu
未来を掴んで 期待値を超えて 額に吹き刺す風 今に見なよ きっと君の眩しさに 誰もが気づくだろう 相応しい声で 視線追い越して 虚空を超えて行け 見違えていく君の指から今 手を放す

everyone who took tashi extremely literally when she told patrick he can go crawl back to his rich parents for money any time he wants is misreading patrick's situation (tashi has resentment and derision for rich white boys, in case that wasn't clear)
you think a guy raised rich doesn't know the comforts of money? you think he's performing the cracked phone, the shit car, the people rapping on the window waking you up, labeling you undesirable? you think any human person would voluntarily choose the dehumanization of poverty?
he's the starving artist archetype. either he gives up tennis or he gives up money. he gave up money because yeah, questionable life choices, and he fucking revels in the freedom to choose them. (also he's obsessed with tennis but don't tell him that.)
but genuinely. there is a reason people will not go to their own parents when they are at the brink of bankruptcy. and I don't know how to explain this if you already don't understand, but there is always a good reason when you're avoiding parents who can give you monetary security.
#successful tennis stars are born when they have full support from parents partners friends coach crew etc#literally anyone who's taking first place in competitive sports will thank their support system#you think anyone who has access to that kind of privilege will voluntarily eschew it? are you serious?#challengers#challengers 2024#my thoughts#patrick zweig#read a bad take and now I'm pissed I guess#wow parents with money! I WONDER WHY HE ISN'T USING THAT MONEY. 'oh a performance of hardship' are you serious#'art is being misread' 'tashi is misunderstood' where are my 'patrick is literally the broke athlete archetype' crowd

asking serbian eurosport once again when are they planning to hire me as their fogure skating commentator because the current one doesn't know shit.
#she if someone falls in the program: ouch what have they done just now 🫤🫤#she is someone goes clean: ohh what have they just done ☺️☺️#not to mention out of date info on coaching changes etc.#i would do sooo well#i would shut up during the performance unless something literally insane just happened on the ice#and then during the replays i would be explaining shit in sooo much detail and also providing tea that's available by#a) me a national judge going to the isu seminars b) a friend of mine just passed the international tests in september#you won't be seeing him on the panels tho my country sensd like one junior per season to one jgp event#but i'd have soo many interesting things to say to the viewers i'd make it into the most watched sport on our tv#figure skating

Maple Leafs discourse on their team social medias makes me lose brain cells because wdym they're first in their division and coming off a 5 game win streak & people are commenting that the top players are only in it for the money and have no drive, that particular players are useless and need to be traded asap, that they're a garbage team, that they'll never make it past the first round just because they lost one game.
Apparently because they are being payed handsomely the players must be mindless automatons who perform perfectly every night. It drives me absolutely nuts how quickly alleged fans will completely turn on their own team.
#i cannot understand how some people can't seem to comprehend that the players are still human who will have off days and make mistakes#regardless of their work ethic or drive or passion#it's not actual critiquing either it's basically just grown men cyberbullying other grown men#over a GAME#& they have a ton of people in the organization to critique and help them improve! have you ever heard of a coach!#it's like people want to assume the worst so when the leafs perform badly in the playoffs they aren't upset about it bc they see it coming#but they clearly are upset about it because they're commenting on the leafs own social media pages#& these losers never seem to realize how their own behaviour does actively make it harder for the players to perform#maybe some players will not want to play in Toronto because the pressure is so insane & the fanbase can be so toxic!#it really just is bullying#& those people think it's completely fine & warranted because they don't know the players personally & they're famous & rich#maybe try basic human decency for a change? & not letting yourself get super angry about a game?#& just the bad faith element of it all...#it makes it not fun! this is supposed to be entertainment!#stop assuming the worst#some of these people even assume the worst when things are going well! wdym jt is only playing well bc he knows his contract is almost up#isn't it more interesting & inspiring that someone legitimately improved through hard work & the power of the amulet#to the benefit of your team#let's bring back being a fan of your own team ok?#we are basically already doing that with the lb#(affectionate)#thank god for us!#toronto maple leafs#tml#leafs lb#my thoughts

the main takeaway from f1: the academy is why the fuck has bianca not hired a social media manager
#nightfalcon posts#f1: the academy#f1 academy#bianca bustamante#she really does need a social media manager if her racing is so impacted by her trying to manage her social media and sponsorships#read an article a few months ago where someone interviewed abbi and bianca about how they do it#and abbi is like 'i don't have time for it i prioritize racing and hope the results attract sponsors'#while bianca is running around snatching as many sponsors as possible and we can see the impact on her racing#2023 bianca was a decent driver but that was before her account got huge and she went to SNAFU after SNAFU#also that old man of her performance coach wasn't helping either

A competitive athlete must walk the line between mental and physical discipline, maintaining both in a way that allows them full control over themselves and the ability to use their own body as a tool. The body is not just a vessel for the person within, but a partner the athlete must work with and against to achieve what they need to. And Yuuri Katsuki feels this dissonance strongly, I am sure of it.
Anxiety alone impedes his ability to have full control over himself. It is irrational and sometimes impossible to predict. It eats up your life in the worst ways, forcing you to doubt yourself and your abilities in a way that is especially damning for someone that needs to have faith in themself to perform well. When you should be focused on conditioning, throwing everything you have at your body and ensuring it comes out the other side stronger and more capable, you are instead locked in your own brain.
Yuuri gains weight easily. He has to be constantly vigilant with his diet, careful about what he ingests and aware of its impact on his body. When I tell you that athletes, especially top athletes like Yuuri, are eating near-constantly, I mean it. To be in a never-ending war with your weight and muscle tone is not only mentally exhausting, but incredibly difficult to manage when you are training. Most people I know (myself included) developed very fast metabolisms, but those who did not (Yuuri) struggled terribly to keep up with their bodies demands.
Yuuri must fully master the physical side of skating to accomplish what he wants to. And in some ways, I think that makes Eros an even more compelling program. I often view it as a dance between Yuuri and Viktor, the sort of back-and-forth Viktor won’t stop pushing for and Yuuri hesitates to engage in, but it is just as important that it represents a battle Yuuri fights internally. Katsudon is his initial muse; the thing that makes him lose control. Food has been a consistent issue for him throughout his athletic career, something he must conquer if he wants to move forward. Eros is about temptation and seduction, his chance to fully understand his body and its demands. The lack of harmony between Yuuri’s body and mind has plagued him, and this routine is his opportunity to face it head on and emerge with the knowledge he needs to persevere.
#and he can’t just force past it either#it becomes a dance#he goes to minako to learn how to move like a woman#to master that gentleness that gives his performance a whole new quality#yuuri does not do well with aggressiveness which we see with viktors failed coaching strategies#to understand himself he must be soft towards himself#yuri on ice#yuuri katsuki#yuri katsuki#yoi meta

Arleen’s dynamics with other coaches!
cygnus: i’ve had a headcanon for a while that he discovered her architectural skills and took her under his wing for a bit as an intern of sorts. that’s her weird bisexual steampunk uncle that’s his weird angsty teenage niece they’re so dear to me
iluquim: do NOT let them interact they WILL get into a fistfight in the alphabet tumble parking lot
the performer / agent d: arleen had a fatass crush on her while agent d was in carnivallium laying low no i will not elaborate
