The Clan Renaissance - Celebrating Two Years Online!

“What if the legends were true? What if we could bring them back?” The Clan Renaissance is a play-by-post roleplay forum set in the world of Warriors by Erin Hunter. We've been running for two years as of August 8, 2022!

In this timeline, the Clans were destroyed by a bloody battle at Fourtrees nearly a decade ago. The remaining cats scattered, and memories of the Clans quickly faded to nothing more than myth. Few cats believe the Clans ever existed, only serving as tales for sleepy kits. After all, how could they have been real?

Now, the time has come for the Clans of old to rise once again. StarClan has delivered a prophecy to a few chosen cats in the hopes that the Clans can become a reality once more.

“Find the stone that gleams and shines, the one that sits beneath the mines. Stars that die and stars that fall, they gather here and sing their call. Find the cats who number four and from the ashes Clans arise once more.”

Set in the old forest from the original series, this takes place in a universe where the events of the books never happened.

hi folks! there's still room in my intensive summer SF writing workshop held in lovely Lawrence, Kansas, over the final two weeks of June

I lead the workshop, and this year's special guest instructor is experimental particle physicist and science-fiction expert Phil Baringer, who's taught university classes and other professional workshops with me before (he's awesome)

I'm an award-winning SF author, educator, and long-time center director, and I've been teaching this workshop since the 1990s. most alums end up publishing or even starting magazines and book publishing companies of their own, and the growing community of alums are super active beyond our time together

we're taking applications for a couple more weeks or until we fill the roster - if you'd like to get that boost you need to start publishing professionally (or just want to grow your skills as an author), why not join us!

THE DYBBUK

This Friday we're watching... wait, what? Another Dybbuk? Aren't we done with it already?- yes and no! Yes, another Dybbuk, but OH BOY WHAT A DYBBUK. Lucky me got her hands on a recording of the critically acclaimed Dybbuk from Gesher Theatre, an award winning theatre from Jaffa, that is based on the same Dybbuk we have seen last Saturday, but this one omits half of the plot and takes a look at the story through a more modern eye, focusing on the characters of Leah and Hanan more than their predecessors and their sins, and thus examining the phenomenon from it's psychological and societal aspects, rather than trying to compete with the well established legend that is Ansky's source material.

It's the youngest... story recorded by camera shown in the club, and you may wonder what an Israeli theatre has to do with the SOVIET Movie Club, but you'd be surprised, because half of it consists of post soviet jewish refugees, and the director studied under TOVSTONOGOV, and it'll be a part of our comparison year :)

Anyway, join us this Friday, 14th of July, at 10 pm moscow time, if you want to see a more modern rendition of the Jewish myth. I'll reblog this post 15 minutes before we start as usual :)
