Finding a True West Hiking Hiking the Juniper Canyon Loop (Pinnacles National Park)
flickr
Finding a True West Hiking Hiking the Juniper Canyon Loop (Pinnacles National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the west-northwest while taking in views across eroded volcanic formations present in this part of Pinnacles National Park. With this image, I used an idea I got from Flickr and other photography sites to hold a compass in hand with a more distant view beyond. For this location, I used Resurrection Wall and The Fingers as the backdrop.

Just a general reminder to anyone working in a “caregiving” or adjacent field.
Second Hand Trauma is real, and you deserve to take care of yourself
It’s not just doctors, first responders, or social workers - although the amount of trauma they receive on a regular basis definitely needs to be acknowledged and given protection from.
Office workers of any medical field where you regularly need to read and sort horrifying details that is someone’s reality.
Custodial staff, doing their best to keep the living environments hopeful despite the despair around them.
Childcare and school teachers who pick up hints of unsafe family environments, but are powerless to get more than the children and parents can or are willing to disclose.
If knowing other people are experiencing trauma is an inevitable part of your daily job, it takes it’s toll on your.
Compassion fatigue and burn out are almost guaranteed if you don’t mindfully acknowledge and address how witnessing the effects of trauma impacts you.
Don’t berate yourself for feeling bad when “it’s not happening to you.”
Because it’s beautiful that you care, that you have this empathy and sympathy.
But it has a cost, and you need to care for yourself in order to keep caring for those suffering around you.

We all have the power to influence others. It is up to us, whether we are going to abuse that power to manipulate people or use it to help them.

something interesting i realized while on the vessel-making screen in the deltarune introduction is that it's physically impossible to make kris: there is no hair that perfectly matches theirs (none have the cowlick or the right jagged shape on the bottom), and there is no sweater that perfectly matches theirs (none have a single stripe). this is fascinating, as it perhaps suggest that, if we (the player) had a choice, we *wouldn't* make kris. they aren't something we want, or are even capable of wanting, rather something we're stuck with.
and i suppose the fact that they can't be *created* as a vessel is telling, because we didn't create kris -- they weren't made for us, they're not a player avatar. they're a pre-existing person we just happen to gain possession of.
we weren't made for each other; they don't want us, and we don't seem to want them either (if the inability to choose to create someone like them says anything); funny, then, that in a way we're "soulmates"...
(both pictures are from the deltarune wiki!)

At this point, “OP is a Zionist” means “OP is a Jew who has spoken about the rampant and violent antisemitism in leftists spaces and it makes me feel icky that a kike dares to express their opinion because I’m a racist bigot, so I’ll call them a Zio and that means I can get away with being outright racist about Jews because it’s acceptable to hate ‘Zionists’- and if any other Jews call me out, I’ll just say they’re Zionists, too!”
You absolute fucking ghouls couldn’t be more transparent if you tried. You’re not allies. You’re not good people. You do not care about human rights. Your “activism” is the smokescreen you put up to hide the fact that you get off on hating Jews. Your “activism” is about nothing more than making you feel good and getting your little brownie points from other antisemites online.
We see you. We know the deal. At least the fucking Nazis had the guts to say outright that they want every Jew dead. You’re so cowardly that you have to couch it in social justice language and beat around the bush.

Everyone need to stop being so judgy about how bitchy Alpha-17 is, he’s just never gotten to experience the love and joy of having an entire strawberry cheesecake with whipped cream to himself. You’d want to blow up thousands of your unborn siblings intending to spare them from the even crueler hands of the enemy compared the brutality of your creators too if you’ve never had an ounce of sugar in your life, lay off my man.

I Have Found Where I Wanted to Walk (Capitol Reef National Park)
flickr
I Have Found Where I Wanted to Walk (Capitol Reef National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While under the Hickman Bridge in Capitol Reef National Park with a view looking to the north-northwest. My thinking with this image was to try something I'd seen on other sites where a person has had a compass in hand and a backdrop of something iconic or beautiful unto itself. Here I had the eroded sandstone formation of Hickman Bridge with a backdrop of towering cliff walls and then blue skies with clouds above.

Something something Thalia and Alabaster sharing a fatal flaw... something something childhood bestfriends Annabaster... something something Thalia being made Artemis's lieutenant to satisfy her thirst for power and to get her off Olympus's back, Luke promoting Alabaster to General for the same reasons...
Something something Thalia renouncing the kid she knew and cursed the gods with all these years, and not recognising both him and the child they took in anymore

im always going to be a little pissed that shipping and genderbending will always eclipse the fanart conversation when whitewashing/fatphobia is alive and well in art and needs addressing
when art lacks racial representation this conveys that we arent important, insignificant, and it mirrors how we are treated as a second thought to white people, if we are even thought about at all.
when art lacks fat representation it reinforces stigmatizations of our already heavily criticized bodies.
we can do better, be better, about racism and fatphobia but if we're constantly giving our attention to discussions as futile as shipping or genderbending discourse its not going to happen
