Hi, this is a bit random, but you mentioned working on your thesis (good luck with it!) and it reminded me of my thesis (I'm in the early stages, deciding on a topic) and was wondering (because you've mentioned that you are from a german-speaking county) if there are any german gothic or german realist works you really love (both two topics I'm very interested in and although I've read a lot of german lit, I don't have clear favourites). I hope this isn't too much to ask, hope you have a wonderful day regardless!<3
thank you <333 ngl i broke my brain trying to think of books to mention here but i came up empty. i barely read german novels and german classics are few and far between…. my favs are probably heinrich kleist (but he was a romantic writer) and ödön von horvát (but he’s not what you’re looking for either)….. i have a shelf on my goodreads that has a very eclectic selection of german books i have read but, again, i don’t think that it will be of much help. i am so sorry :/
((and if you have any german book recs PLS let me know!!! i‘d love to hear about the books you’ve loved))

It Starts with Us by Colleen Hoover
Genre: contemporary romance | second chance
My ratings: 3.5/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
My thoughts:
I've had this book on my list for a long time and finally got around to it! As a fan of Colleen Hoover, I love how her books are such captivating page-turners. "It Starts With Us" continues the story from "It Ends With Us," focusing on themes of domestic violence in families and relationships. I enjoyed spending more time with Lily and Atlas and watching their love story unfold. While I feel that a whole book may not have been entirely necessary, I still appreciated it and admired Lily's strength and courage in providing a safe home for her daughter.
Favorite character:
Atlas
Favorite dialogue:
"Paris. Rome. London. I have no desire to sit on a hot beach somewhere. I want to see all the romantic places in Europe and make love in every city and take pictures kissing in front of the Eiffel Tower. I want to eat croissants and hold hands on trains."

lmao i call it “easy reading” and then i’m sat sobbing over a YA book for an hour when i finished it today which gave me a headache haha i take everything too seriously to actually have easy reading
i’ll be reading and scream and my roommate has to come check on me because i get so invested in books even if they are really just silly
THIS IS REAL ASF OMGGGGGGG
I'll tell myself it's not that serious but....but it is
