“Is that why you didn’t call me? Because I’m an idiot?”
“No.” Magnus strode toward him. “I didn’t call you because I’m tired of you only wanting me around when you need something. I’m tired of watching you be in love with someone else—someone, incidentally, who will never love you back. Not the way I do.”
“You love me?”
“You stupid Nephilim,” Magnus said patiently. “Why else am I here? Why else would I have spent the past few weeks patching up all your moronic friends every time they got hurt? And getting you out of every ridiculous situation you found yourself in? Not to mention helping you win a battle against Valentine. And all completely free of charge!”

Tis time for an update because in the past few days I have felt very overwhelmed. It's been an intense couple of days made of big decisions. After a very emotional session with my therapist and talking with my parents I came to the conclusion that the healtest thing to do now is to take a break from studying and try to recover from this burn out. I decided to drop out from my class, I will take the exam with more materials like people who don't follow lectures, and I will be doing that in the future. I am now going to take the next month to rest and not study, and after this pause I will plan my next moves and exams. I will have to fight my guilt response a bit but this is truly the only thing I can do to mend my health right now. Hopefully taking this month off will get me back on my feet because I am not in a great place right now. To avoid making this update too negative here are some happy things that happened in the past few days:
met the two tiny goats my uncle got, got to cuddle one and she fell asleep in my arms
had a lovely walk in the woods which felt very healing
redescovered cross stitch embroidery as an hobby and it's sparking so much joy
had a trip to the bookstore with my mom and got a couple of graphic novels
talked to the professor of the class I am dropping out of and she was extremely comprehensive and offered so much help in case I will need any
had yet another friend date that was very recharing
helped my brother with painting walls at his place

so. I read Dionysus in Wisconsin in one sitting and I cannot believe none of you nerds told me about this?? I had to stumble on this at a tiny local book fair? why aren't you all shouting about this already? this book is
gay
hilarious
full of phenomenal side characters
made up of a delightful diversity of magic types
did I mention gay
these men are so cute for each other I stg
it's literally about Dionysus what more do you want
it's about self and identity and relationships and fucked up families and deciding who you get to be and I'm going to be screaming about it for the rest of my life
and it's also about dreadful magic and blood and fire and violence <3
there's demons there's contrived-meet-cute-to-lovers there's an ex kgb babushka there's a motorcycle there's door county cherries what more do you want
my main complaint is that some absolutely phenomenal sounding retellings of Shakespeare plays were mentioned and I don't think they exist irl and I NEED to see them immediately.
(my second complaint is that it sounds like there just was affordable housing on the isthmus back in the 60s and I'm so so so jealous about this why can't I find a place to live that doesn't cost my entire paycheck and my firstborn)

“Alec?” Magnus was staring at him. He had dispatched the remaining Iblis demons, and the was empty but for the two of them. “Did you just—did you just save my life?”
Alec knew he ought to say something like, Of course, because I’m a Shadowhunter and that’s what me do, or That’s my job. Jace would have said something like that. Jace always knew the right thing to say. But the words that actually came out of Alec’s mouth were quite different—and sounded petulant, even to his own ears. “You never called me back,” he said. “I called you so many times and you never called me back.”
Magnus looked at Alec as if he’d lost his mind. “Your city is under attack,” he said. “The wards have been broken, and the streets are full of demons. And you want to know why I haven’t called you?”
Alec set his jaw in a stubborn line. “I want to know why you haven’t called me back.”
Magnus threw his hands up in the air in a gesture of utter exasperation. Alec noted with interest that when he did it, a few sparks escaped from his fingertips, like fireflies escaping for a jar. “You’re an idiot.”

The past couple of days have been filled with lots of reading, good food, and increasingly better weather. The sound of cicades plays in the backgroud continuously and I can feel my body slowly realxing as it should. After finishing Nona The Ninth, I read and fell in love with A Psalm For The Wild-Built. That little book brought me so much joy and peace, and I think it will stay at the back of my mind for a good while. At last yesterday I decided to pick up The Poppy War, and today only I read 150 pages. For some reason I was expecting to find some difficulties getting into the story, but I am glued to the pages, and I don't even realize how fast I am reading it.
Chill hobbit summer things of the last few days:
Drinking tea and eating raspberry jam in the morning sun
Reading at the beach while blasing music in my earphones
Listening to podcast as I color mandalas (I am caught up with re:dracula, and ethics town, and I also started and got caught up with the antiquarium of sinister happenings)
Enjoing good food
Keeping up with my daily practice of Irish on duolingo

It’s been a minute.
The end of the uni year exhausted me mentally and physically, I can just now feel the fog clearing.
I start summer class soon, which I’m thrilled for, despite the university year being over personal interest study never ends.
My current sociopolitical reads:
No Modernism Without Lesbians, Diana Souhami
Fabulosa!, Paul Baker
The Women’s Bible, Elizabeth Cady Stanton

"So that the revolution does not completely rot I leave you with a message I am old And your utopia is for future generations There are so many children who will be born With a little broken wing And I want them to fly, comrade I want your revolution To drop them a piece of red heaven So that they fly." - Pedro Lemebel from A Last Supper of Queer Apostles
