Legend says that for a brief period of time, Penny had a TV at the Hard Deck.

She installed it because Sarah suggested it as Admiral Tom Kazansky was going to appear at Congress and they were going to televise the intervention.

It was very convenient because Mav was gone with Ice and the Dagger Squad was left behind sad. They were hoping to support his new dad, but the Navy need them in Miramar. And, somehow, Warlock convinced Cyclone to give them some time off to follow Icemans intervention.

So, the Dagger Squad found themselves w Solomon and Beau (bc they were out in the wild and not at work) watching how the congress “worked” and admiring the pose and grace of their Admiral.

Until...

Well, it wasn't exactly Bradley's fault, and neither was Jake’s. But one thing led to another and there was some competition involved and some backhanded comments about some members of Congress and...

They took a shot every time that:

Any member of congress asked a stupid question

Iceman made any person rethink what they were going to say with just a glare

Make someone stutter, etc

There were more rules but thirty minutes in they had to amend the list as they were getting too wasted and Cyclone was threatening to fight personally anyone who dared to disrespect his Admiral.

By the time the intervention finished, Penny had cut them the alcohol and she was threatening to ban the entrance to her local. Cyclone had to take care of the bill. Warlock tried to charm Penny to get them of the hook and the daggers...

They never had a clear idea of how they managed to get back to their accommodations. But Amelia got richer that day, taking advantage of her new driver's licence and Bradley’s Bronco to drive off the affected aviators.

The TV disappeared after that and nobody questioned it.

WIP Game Propaganda - 5 Times Cyclone Ignores IceMav

Propaganda for the Cyclone fic in the WIP poll! This one is apparently currently doing very well, but I figure to be fair I should give you a sneak peek ;)

None of the medics on board would dream of kicking the COMPACFLT out of medical if he didn’t want to be kicked out. Beau was pretty sure that’s why he got called in the next morning. There weren’t any complaints, exactly, but even Beau wasn’t such a hardass he needed to know that the fucking Commander of the Pacific Fleet was still parked in a chair in the same room he was in ten minutes ago, and a half hour before that. Beau wasn’t sure, exactly, what they thought he was going to do about it. If Kazansky didn’t want to move, it was technically currently his fucking carrier.

He held firm for another half an hour, when one of the doctors actually called him, just in case he hadn’t gotten the message the first fifteen times.

“Fine,” he said, and could almost hear the doctor slump in relief. “I’m not making any promises, but I’ll see if I can lure him out to the mess. The man traveled for ten hours and then sat in a chair for another eight, he’s gotta be hungry.”

“Thank you, sir,” the doctor said.

“Don’t thank me yet,” Beau grumbled, and hung up.

He gave himself exactly thirty seconds to feel very sorry for himself and the workload that was just multiplying exponentially before his eyes, and then he got up to go to medical. Why not? He was only fucking air boss, clearly he had nothing better to do with his time.

When this was over, though, he was taking some leave and going to Fiji. He fucking deserved that.

I feel like, in RTC, Ocean’s character development is really fascinating. Particularly, I love how it’s showcased through the parallel between “What the World Needs” and “It’s Not a Game”.

“Oh, isn't someone keeping score?”

Versus

The different tones when talking about scores just scratches my brain the right way.

Like I had a massive resurgence of my Percy jackson phase in early 2021 and it hasn’t gone away and I’ve infected two of my friends (ones a show fan ones a book fan) they’re also my two best friends, I wonder why

Sometimes I just think about ride the cyclone and then I watch its slime tutorial for the rest of the day

Ofc hunger games phase had a BIG resurgence when ballad’s movie was announced that it was in the works (around early 2023 or late 2022)

Okay so the cast album recording of It’s Not a Game/It’s Just a Ride (MAKES ME FUCKING WEEP EVERY TIME I HEAR IT) has Emily Rohm (Jane Doe) sing alongside the rest of the cast, despite the fact that in this point in the show, Jane has been revived as Penny Lamb and lives a new life.

So I interpret it as after Karnak has his final line, “Be sure to ride the Cyclone,” it’s established that Penny’s death the second time around was of old age. So after Karnak’s death and his magic is no more, Penny also arrives in the afterlife with her friends as a teenager again, and the six of them spend their time in the afterlife together as one big happy found family
