Here we go again--
TRIP ABROAD TURNS INTO BUTTERFLY EFFECT
First thing worth mentioning is that the prime color in this artwork is pale blue. I feel like it's quite rare, most of INPLICK arts for Link Click have the same palette: burgundy red, shades of gray and black (except for the whole Surprise Beat thing which is splashed with flashy pink). All but this one:
(probably when they were 17 or sth)
Tumblr media
For the sake of the argument, let's say it is a significant distinction to make. The reason is simple: the teaser of the airport scene and the trailer prove that shit started three years ago, when CXS and LG made a trip after graduation. If this chronology is correct, then blue probably symbolizes Lu Guang's innocence or happiness. Blue used to paint Lu Guang but now he only sees the world in black, white and red. In the birthday official arts, blue is associated with his character. His flower is freaking Forget-Me-Not; Myosotis.
So yes, that's why I think the color palette here is relevant to the time period we're going to explore in the Yingdu Chapter.
Tumblr media
The couch itself is blue when we're so used to the pair sitting on a brick sofa. The cakes and the flowers are the usual shade of red, though.
On the table: red roses in a vase. Petals are all over the place. Ominous.
On the trolley: 1 bottle of wine, 2 CXS's feet, 3 glasses, 4 cakes, 5 individual desserts. The glass half full is Liu Xiao's, since it isn't on the trolley in the original artwork he is absent from. I said it in another post but the plate counts 4 portions, as in 4 antagonists, while the pudding might be Lu Guang's. The cakes are probably metaphors for timelines/curves, clocks dressed as desserts with a red fruit representing a dead Cheng Xiaoshi. V and VI are the only missing parts, just like Qiao Ling's one. CXS put his feet on the trail and I think it's both funny and tragic. I believe the correct saying is "put his foot in his mouth" but in french we say "mettre les pieds dans le plat", which literally translates "to put his feet in the plate" (to say something brutal with no tact or to do something stupid without thinking it through). He has both feet nearing timeline cakes and his head is five inches away from doomed flowers.
On the floor: 1 vintage phone. 1 camera. 2 envelopes, 3 pages of letters. 4 polaroids. Probably: 2 magazines and 3 pages of newspapers. The vintage phone could be relevant to THE TIDES, era-wise. The camera is taking polaroids and two of them are still dark, meaning they just took a shot and are yet to be revealed. The rest must be related to this chapter's plot. So much for holidays, guys (are they investigating CXS' missing parents?)
If you look closely, you'll see four different mentions of time:
Lu Guang's watch (hold this thought)
The polaroid: Big Ben
What looks like newspapers
The hourglass
We also have four mentions of information/communication
Letters
The polaroid: a public telephone box
Newspapers/magazines
Vintage phone (I was wondering why the phone had twelve numbers but after some research, I realized that some of them had # and *)
On another note, I don't know if their hands--
Tumblr media
I mean, there's something definitely happening here but let's say for the sake of my sanity that what is supposed to be noticed are the sunglasses. If I'm being honest, this is the real oddity here and the teaser weirdly showed them off?? They're standing out because everything else is so blue for one thing.
Tumblr media
They're pink-ish, which is close enough to magenta, so one of Lu Guang's colors (cf. Dive Back In Time). The color itself is weird for sunglasses. Lu Guang doesn't care about fashion, he wants practical. As a girl who loves pink sunglasses, I'll tell you: pink is shit at doing sunglasses' job. CXS told him to wear a cat hat, okay, but did he choose every other accessory?? My guess is that the pink served a purpose in connection with light.
And why is Lu Guang's watch on the other wrist in the artwork? I checked and LG wears it on his right wrist in the donghua and manhua. It can be the opposite for some artworks though... Or blocked from view for some reasons. It's almost as if we're not supposed to know which side is the actual reflection. 👀
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Something else is reversed here, actually: the colors AND the pocket of Lu Guang's shirt. It could be a mistake, though.
Tumblr media
>>>>> Basically, I think the artwork is telling us that the Yingdu Chapter is going to hurt and make us cry. If we're indeed about to see Lu Guang lose his humanity to try and save Cheng Xiaoshi for the first time therefore destroying worlds, I have no doubt it would be after Infinite Sadness™.
The real question this teaser isn't answering is either we'll go through the original timeline or a rewind. The last episode of season 2 makes me frown. How to be sure that the Lu Guang who dives exists before and not after the events we see unfold for two seasons? Is Yingdu Chapter a flash black or an actual dive itself? Lu Guang seems to be determinate and in a bad mood in the PV after all, could directly happen after one of CXS's deaths.
EDIT: someone mentioned that LG wears his watch on the left wrist when we get images of CXS getting stabbed. (It hurts right here in my meow meow)

Des oiseaux Paolo Roversi
Texts : Chiara Bardelli Nonino, Guilhem Lesaffre
Atelier EXB, Paris 2023, 88 pagine, 20,5x26cm, copertina rigida, fotografie a colori e b/n, lingua inglese, ISBN 978-2365113854
euro 60,00

For this fifteenth title in the collection, the great fashion and portrait photographer Paolo Roversi invites falconry birds into his studio and produces an intriguing series in which owls, owls and falcons appear drenched in saturated light on large-format Polaroids. The Italian photographer's signature minimalist approach to portraiture and monochrome tones reveal these birds of prey in all their majesty. Installed on a stool or the back of a chair, the birds pose elegantly, their eyes sometimes astonished to have become subjects worthy of attention. Time seems to stand still: in shades of violet or almost old gold with a patina, the birds' quiet presence, sudden flight and surprised gaze almost verge on the painterly. This new series by Roversi offers a new way of looking at birds: their relationship with man, as an artistic model.

Snapshots of the Soul
Note: Second short story I revised! I added a bit more description to this one, and the ending is a bit different, because it literally wasn't finished in my docs. I think it's close to what it originally was though, may be even cuter.
Ben pulled out a small polaroid camera. The black paint covering the body was starting to rub off revealing the metal body underneath. The scratches, dents, and old yellow stickers decorating it showed the true age of the camera, having been around long before Ben was born.
His grandmother had given it to him for Christmas years ago , and had laughed when he had seen his strained smile when the box was fully opened.
“I know it might not seem like much now” she said, “but wait until you see what it can do.”
Needless to say that he treasured it much more after that.
Ben now pointed the camera out the window at an old lady walking across the street  and waved his younger brother, Dan, over.
The boy moved across the room, standing right next to him, and Ben gestured for Dan to look through the camera in his hand. He does so and Ben starts to speak
"So, you see that small oval-thing right over her heart?”
Dan looked for it in the camera and when his eyes lands on it he nods.
"Well, that is her soul. It is what makes her, her.
Dan continues to look, fascinated by the various colors that swirled in the soul.
"All those colors you see are the main aspects of her personality. Here…"
Ben went over and took a picture of the lady, before she could make it across the street and out of view. He looks at it and shows it to his brother. The colorful soul was still present in the picture and he pointed to the most prominent color in the soul, a beautiful ruby red
“This color is her main trait, passion. She cares very deeply about people in her life, and the hobbies she pursues. “
The red in her soul lightened into a bright sunflower yellow as you got to the middle of it. Ben points it out to his younger brother.
“And this shows that she is an outgoing individual. That usually pairs well with passion, though some people may find it obnoxious.”
“What does that color mean?” Dan said pointing to a small forest green green part on the soul. While being a contrasting color to the warm hues on the soul it blended effortlessly with the other colors.
“That would be envy. She’s often jealous of other people.” Ben said matter-of-factly.
Dan looked up at his brother shocked, how could someone with all those good traits have such a bad one ?
Ben, noticing his brother's internal plight, began to speak.
“Over the past few years I’ve had this camera I have noticed two things,” He holds up a finger, “One, every good person I meet has at least one fatal flaw.” He holds up a second finger, “ Two, every jerk has at least one good trait that, if they acted on more, would make them less jerk-ish. Some eventually learn that acting on their more positive impulses make themselves and the people around them happier. Others learn through punishments and losses. Some never learn at all.”
Dan thinks on that for a little, staring at the picture of the old woman once more.
Suddenly he bounds away from the window and stands in the middle of the room.
“Take a picture of me,” He says, “ I want to know what my fatal flaw is!”
Ben smirks, “No need, I already know what your fatal flaw is.”
Dan squints, wondering when his brother had unknowingly snapped a picture of him.
“Really, what is it?”
Ben leans down and flicks Dan’s forehead, “You’re annoying.” He laughs and dodges a punch aimed at his arm, before rushing out the room.
Dan chases right behind him, trying to grab at his hoodie.
“Get back here!”

prompt idea: 5 times andrew and neil kissed in secret while there were other people around + 1 time they got caught
this is pure uncut fluff and EXACTLY what i needed this weekend tysm.
in which Neil and Andrew are disgustinglyin love, Neil flusters Andrew with tender smooching, and Andrew takes advantageof Neil’s Exy kink to get some sweet, sweet lovemaking. (not explicit)
-1-
Thelights outside smeared, soft and still altogether too bright for the late hour.Neil leaned his face against the bus window, his hair dried in funny tufts fromshowering after the game.
“Goto sleep, Josten,” Wymack grunted. “We can go over strategy in the morning.”
“I’mfine,” Neil said, and immediately yawned hugely.
“Sureyou are,” Wymack said, not letting his eyes leave the road for a second.
“Shutup,” Neil muttered, but heaved himself up off the seat behind Wymack andcarefully made his way to the back of the bus. The Foxes lay in various statesof unconsciousness in their seats. Renee rolled her head up and gave him adrowsy nod from where she sat, squashed between Allison and one of the freshmengirls.
Neil’smouth curled up at the edge as he dropped into the back seat. Andrew glancedover at him, his cheek red from where he’d been leaning it on his hand.
“Can’tsleep?” Neil asked softly.
“Tooloud,” Andrew replied.
Neilnodded. Since getting sober, Neil didn’t think he’d ever seen Andrew sleep infront of the team; it left him too vulnerable. “You played so good tonight,” hemurmured, scooting in a little closer.
Andrewscoffed, but he shifted to accommodate Neil. “You scored a few goals yourself.”
“Oh?”Neil asked, a small smile tugging at his lips. “You were watching?”
“No,”Andrew said, and before Neil could call him out on the obvious lie, his handgrabbed Neil’s hair, tugging their lips together.
Neilsighed happily and nosed in closer, parting his lips to breath Andrew in. Heatbloomed in his exhausted body like sunlight soaking into a cold day. Andrew’sfree hand slid up his thigh, fingers kneading into Neil’s sore muscles.
Thebus dropped beneath them with a crash. Neil’s forehead smashed into Andrew’s ashe was thrown sideways. Groans echoed up the bus as the team grumbled at therude awakening.
“Pothole,”Wymack called, his voice barely audible all the way at the back. “Go back tosleep.”
Neilgrimaced, rubbing his face ruefully, and looked down to find himself halfwayinto Andrew’s lap. The red lines on Andrew’s cheek from before had been joinedby a darker mark just above his eyebrow. His hands were tight on Neil, holdinghim in place.
Hisgrip eased as Neil settled himself back down onto the seat. He brushed hisfingers over the red mark on Andrew’s forehead, unable to stifle a small smile.“Oops,” he said.
Andrewhuffed, letting go of Neil and shuffling so that he could lean against thewindow comfortably. “He’s right. Go to sleep.”
“Hmm,”Neil said, propping his head sideways against the seat. “Okay.”
Andrewshot one more irritated glance at him, then reached out and tugged Neil down sohis cheek rested against Andrew’s shoulder. Neil made a small, happy hum, squirming into a more comfortable position, his forehead tucked into the crookof Andrew’s neck.
“Sleep,”Andrew said again.
Neilsmiled and brushed a kiss over Andrew’s exposed throat. “Okay.”
-2-
“Ihate these things,” Neil said, flopping into the chair next to Andrew andshoving two fingers under his tie to loosen it.
“Finallygot tired of playing nice with the other teams?” Andrew said, pushing his glasstowards Neil.
Neilpicked it up and sniffed it, getting a whiff of the distinct bite of hardliquor mixed in with banquet punch. Normally he’d say no—he’d just neverdeveloped a taste for alcohol—but after two hours of Kevin bullying him intosmall-talk and networking with the other teams, he took a quick swig, making aface as the sweet-sharp taste slid down his throat.
“Disgusting,”he croaked, placing the glass back on the table and glancing over at Andrew. His eyes were fixed and intent on Neil, staring at his rumpled suit jacket.“What?” he asked. “Do I have something on my suit?”
“Moron,”Andrew muttered. “Yes or no?”
Neilfroze, mouth still open. His eyes darted around; there were hundreds of peopleon the repurposed court, but most of them were on the dance floor, bouncingalong with the beat of the shitty pop music blaring over the speakers.Christmas trees speckled the sparsely occupied tables, partially blocking theview.
“Neil?”Andrew interrupted.
“Hm?”Neil said, eyes returning abruptly to Andrew. “Yes.”
Andrewstudied him for a second longer, as if to verify that he really was comfortablewith it, before leaning in and looping Neil’s tie around his hand, pullinglightly. Neil followed his lead easily, letting himself be drawn into a searingkiss.
Andrewpulled back after only a second. “So,” Neil said, trying to keep his breathingeven, “you like the suit?”
“Ugh,”Andrew said, releasing Neil’s tie and shoving him back onto his chair.
“Youdo,” Neil said, a smug grin on hisface.
“Fuckyou.”
“Maybelater.”
“Ugh,”Andrew repeated, and reached for the spiked punch on the table.
-3-
Christmaswith the Foxes was a lot better than Christmas with the Ravens.
“Asliterally anyone could have told you,” Andrew said, when Neil expressed thesentiment. After two hours of sitting through an intense round of gift-giving,Abby’s living room was littered with the detritus of torn apart wrapping paperand empty mugs of hot chocolate. Each Fox had been tasked with gettingsomething that could go to anyone on the team, so that they could each blindlypick a gift. It had quickly devolved into a cutthroat game of barter and theft.
Neilhad given Andrew his gift—a package of bath bombs—without much thought, andleft Andrew to the complicated negotiations with Nicky that seemed as muchcoercion as commerce. Most of the others had by now headed for the kitchen forAbby’s attempt at Christmas pudding.
They’dagreed not to get anyone personal gifts, but the couples had all exchangedgifts, and Matt had warned Neil that Nicky was hoarding “New Years Evepresents” in their dorm room. Dan had slipped Neil a wrapped box just momentsbefore disappearing into the kitchen, dodging his protests that he hadn’t gother anything. He ran his fingers over the wrapping paper, still a littleoverwhelmed.
“Areyou going to stare at it, or are you going to open it?” Andrew said, grufflyimpatient. Neil knew he wasn’t really upset; he’d bargained his way up to afancy set of whiskey stones in the gift exchange. Even Allison had admittedthey were pretty nice.
Neilplaced the box on the table and turned to face Andrew. “I didn’t get youanything,” he said.
Andrewnodded, unruffled. Neil checked the door covertly and slid his fingers intoAndrew’s hair. It slipped through his fingers, soft and a little sticky fromthe heat of the fireplace.
Voicesclamoured from the kitchen, Kevin’s strident tones echoing over thegood-natured griping of the others. Neil leaned forward, a question.
Andrewleaned in to meet him, answering him with a light nip and then nudging his mouthopen. Neil melted into the kiss, tangling his fingers deeper into Andrew’s hairas their tongues slid together, familiar and still heart-stoppingly new.
Abump from the hallway stopped the kiss before it could grow too far. Neilrested his forehead against Andrew’s. “I bought the whiskey stones,” hemurmured.
“Iknow,” Andrew said, and got to his feet. “It’s a camera,” he added, jerking hischin towards the package on the table. “I overheard the busybodies talkingabout it last week.”
Hefollowed the voices into the hallway. Neil picked up the gift again, his lipcurled up on one side. He wondered how much had been overheard and how much of the idea had been planted.
Hetore open the wrapping paper to reveal a brand-new Polaroid camera. A smallnote on the side of the box read:
To keep the wall going,
Love Dan
-4-
Snowsprayed up into the air as Neil careened to a stop. He paused for a second tocatch his breath before twisting around, the skis under his feet limiting hisrange of motion.
Kevinskidded in behind him a second later, cursing loudly. “That doesn’t count, youcut me off.”
“Areyou trying to call a foul on me?” Neil asked, a grin splitting his face. Thecold air nipped at his skin, bright and sparkling. The ski lodge behind themsat caked in over six feet of snow.
Kevinscooped up a bit of snow and tried to fling it at Neil, but he overbalanced, his skis slipping backwards. He hit the snow hard, spluttering.
“Betterluck next time,” Neil said, popping out of his bindings and leaning his skisand poles against the rack. Day three of their skiing holiday had brought outthe competitive spirit, not that Neil had any illusions about being thefastest.
Reneeand Allison waved as Neil stomped inside in his heavy boots, the steamy heat ofthe lodge instantly fogging up his goggles. He pulled his helmet off andunzipped his coat as he made his way to the table they’d claimed.
“Whattook you so long?” Renee asked sweetly, eyes sparkling over a steaming mug ofapple cider.
Neilscrunched his nose up at her and dumped his helmet on the table, stripping offhis snow jacket. “Kevin needed to be taken down a peg.”
“Whendoes he not?” Allison said, shoving her plate of fries towards Neil. “We’re goingto the spa for the rest of the afternoon.”
“I’lltell the others,” Neil replied, dropping into the seat opposite. There was noservice at the lodge, which meant everyone had to pass messages along in personlike a convoluted game of telephone. Neil was secretly kind of pleased to spenda few days without being pestered about having his phone turned off.
“Ta,”Allison said, standing up and pulling Renee along with her. Renee shot Neilanother cheeky smile and followed Allison out.
Kevinclomped his way in a second later, Andrew on his heels and his jacket stillcovered in snow all up one side. “You shouldn’t be eating that,” he said, pointing at the plate of fries. “We’ve got a game in just over a week—”
“Iwill shove snow down the back of your neck,” Andrew warned, dropping into thespot next to Neil.
Kevinscowled, but stomped off towards the cafeteria without another word. Neilpushed the plate towards Andrew, studying the faint redness of a goggle-shapedsunburn on Andrew’s cheeks.
“Allisonand Renee are turning in for the afternoon,” he said.
“Hm,”Andrew said.
“Doyou want a hot chocolate?”
Andrewhummed another affirmation. “Okay,” Neil said, rising and rummaging through hiscoat to find his wallet. “Sandwich?”
“Chicken.”
“Alright,”Neil said. He tried to head for the cafeteria, but was stopped by a slight tugon his sweater. He turned, tilting his head to look at Andrew’s hand, tangledin his hem.
Andrewgave another light tug and Neil followed, stepping in close so that Andrew hadto tilt his head back to meet his gaze. Neil hummed, sliding his hand overAndrew’s and feeling his sweat-damp skin. “Do you want to turn in for theafternoon?”
Andrew’seyes darkened imperceptibly, his grip on Neil’s sweater tightening. “Dowhatever you want,” he said.
“Ithink I’ve had enough skiing for the day,” Neil said, a sly smile pulling athis lips. He ducked his head, planting a quick, warm kiss to Andrew’s lips. “I’llget lunch.”
Andrewreleased him and waved his hand dismissively. Neil’s stomach squirmed happilyas he spotted Dan and Matt leading a bedraggled Nicky into the lodge. He gavethem a quick wave and headed to the cafeteria, already looking forward to alazy afternoon.
-5-
Neilshovelled his notes into his bag and slung it over one shoulder, shoulderinghis way into the crowd already thronging around the door. It wasn’t like he hadanywhere urgent to be, but the hallways near his second-year calculus class gotabsolutely manic around lunch, and he wanted to find a table to study at forhis hour-long break.
“Neil.”
Neilcame to an abrupt stop, his attention magnetically drawn over to the side ofthe hallway. A guy bumped into him from behind, looking annoyed at his suddenstop, but when he saw the scars on Neil’s face he rethought whatever he wasabout to say and hurried on.
Neilcut through the stream of people to where Andrew stood, a pillar of stillnessin the surrounding chaos. “Shouldn’t you be in class right now?” he asked.
“Cancelled,”Andrew said, and shoved a paper cup into his hand.
Neilhid his smile in the rim of the cup, inhaling the smell of rich, warm coffee. He took a small sip. “Do you have any more classes today?”
“No.”
“Mm.I have stats in an hour.”
Andrewonly hummed in response. Neil took another sip of his coffee, admiring theslight flush to the tip of Andrew’s ears. He was bundled up in their matchingcoats, though Neil didn’t have his today; it wasn’t so cold he couldn’t managewith just a hoodie. He had a second cup in his hands, probably containing somesugary monstrosity. “Want to go get food?” Neil asked.
“Okay.”
Neilled the way through the press of people. The line outside the campus café wasalready about a mile long, so they walked five minutes off campus to one of thediners off of Perimeter Road.
Theline was still pretty long, but Neil didn’t mind waiting. The cold air hadbitten a spot of red onto the tip of Andrew’s nose. The others would probablyconsider this a date, he thought idly. He didn’t hate the idea.
“Hey,”Neil said, leaning in. Andrew blinked up at him, unimpressed. “Yes or no?”
Mostof the other diners were hidden from view behind a shelf of coffee, but Neilstill waited. A small crease formed between Andrew’s eyebrows as he nodded, slowly.
Neilpressed a small kiss to the red tip of Andrew’s nose and pulled back, smirkinginto his coffee cup. Andrew’s shoulders hunched, his chin tucking into hisjacket as two spots of colour rose on his cheeks.
Neilgrinned, knocking his shoulder against Andrew’s lightly. Andrew scruncheddeeper into his coat, eyes hooded.
Notthe worst way to spend a Tuesday, Neil reflected, as the door opened behindthem, bringing in a group of college students and a gust of cold air. Not evenremotely.
+1
Danpunched Neil’s shoulder, a fierce grin on her face as she led him back into thechangerooms. “We’re going to finals!”
Neilgrinned back, elation thrumming in his veins. Even the blood-hungry mediacouldn’t dampen his mood. He glanced back at Edgar Allan Stadium, soaking inthe glory of the ten-six score one last time.
Danheaded straight for the women’s changeroom and Neil stopped in the waitingroom, spinning slowly. Every decoration on the wall was meant to be a taunt, areminder of the Ravens supremacy: banners, championship photos, trophies. Itfelt more than a little ironic, now that the Foxes were moving on to finals andthe Ravens weren’t.
Heturned back to the door and found himself facing Andrew. His hair was stillglued flat to his head from his helmet, sweat drying tacky and shiny on hisskin. He’d taken the time to get out of his bulky armour, but he was stillwearing his orange jersey.
“Youwere fucking incredible,” Neil said, crossing the room in three strides. Andrewcaught him easily, snagging his armour and spinning him back against the wall.“The look on their faces when you shut them out—”
Neilcouldn’t even finish his statement, he was grinning too hard. Andrew pressedhim into the wall and Neil let his helmet and gloves drop from under his elbowso that he could rest his arms over Andrew’s shoulders.
“Wewon,” he said, unable to contain it.
“Yes,”Andrew agreed.
“DoI owe you a favour this time?”
Andrewtilted his head up so their noses brushed. Neil watched his eyes dilate in thepartial light, the pupil reflecting a glint of Neil’s reflection. “The Ravensyou can have for free.”
“Fuck,”Neil mumbled, pulling Andrew into a heated kiss. His body felt leaden from thebrutal second half, but Andrew held him up, his hands rough and hungry againstNeil’s jersey. His knee found its way between Neil’s legs, grinding againsthim. Neil bit back a moan and rocked once, the heat of Andrew’s bodysurrounding him, caged against the wall.
“Oh,fuck, Andrew,” he said. “We should—”
Andrewbit his lip to silence him, slipping his tongue inside his mouth. Neil tangledone hand into Andrew’s hair, the other wrapped around Andrew’s neck to hold himclose.
Someonesqueaked.
Andrewwhipped his head around, his grip on Neil tightening. Neil sucked in a gulp ofair. Nicky had both hands over his mouth, sudden terror overcoming hisfeatures. “Oh my god—guys don’t—”
Kevinshoved Nicky aside impatiently and made it halfway into the room before spottingNeil and Andrew, still entangled against the wall.
Herolled his eyes. “Can’t you wait for the hotel?” he groused, dropping onto acouch and folding his arms.
Andrewreleased Neil, stepping back out of his space. A slow redness crept over Neil’sface as he spotted Matt and two of the freshmen standing behind Nicky in thehallway.
“I,um, Andrew, I’m so sorry—” Nicky said, eyes wide with fear as Andrew turned toface him.
“Nota word,” Andrew warned.
“Right,of course, just gonna zip those lips, ha-ha—”
“It’sfine,” Neil said. “Don’t worry about it.”
“Neil,I—”
“Isaid it’s fine,” Neil repeated. “I’m just going to go—shower.”
Hehurried out of the room, Andrew a step ahead of him, hoping against hope thatnobody would notice the rather compromising state the front of his jerseyshorts were in.
“Don’ttake too long!” Kevin called after them.
“Fuckoff,” Neil shouted back, grateful for knee-jerk response. Matt gave him a grinthat was equal parts surprise and congratulations, and a big thumbs up whichNeil kind of wished he could un-see.
Thechangerooms were pretty much empty, so Neil quickly stripped off his gear andpiled it into his bag, wrapping a towel around his waist. He felt Andrew’s eyeson him and glanced up, spotting Andrew in a similar state of undress.
Helicked his lips, eyes darting over to where a couple of the showers were stillrunning. “Hotel?”
Andrew’sgaze slipped down his bare chest to the slight tent at the front of his towel.Neil felt molten, his body tingling and a little shaky from the unexpectedinterruption. Andrew reached out, slow and deliberate, pressing his fingersinto the iron scar on Neil’s shoulder. Neil’s heart kicked up another gear, thetips of Andrew’s fingers like tiny, burning stars on is skin.
“Hotel,”Andrew agreed, dropping his hand. Neil blinked rapidly, his chest stuck andpulse pounding.

Loonshots: How to Nurture the Crazy Ideas That Win Wars, Cure Diseases, and Transform Industries
Safi Bahcall
Instant WSJ bestseller
Translated into 18 languages
#1 Most Recommended Book of the year (Bloomberg annual survey of CEOs and entrepreneurs)
An Amazon, Bloomberg, Financial Times, Forbes, Inc., Newsweek, Strategy + Business, Tech Crunch, Washington Post Best Business Book of the year
Recommended by Bill Gates, Daniel Kahneman, Malcolm Gladwell, Dan Pink, Adam Grant, Susan Cain, Sid Mukherjee, Tim Ferriss
Why do good teams kill great ideas?
Loonshots reveals a surprising new way of thinking about the mysteries of group behavior that challenges everything we thought we knew about nurturing radical breakthroughs.
Bahcall, a physicist and entrepreneur, shows why teams, companies, or any group with a mission will suddenly change from embracing new ideas to rejecting them, just as flowing water will suddenly change into brittle ice. Mountains of print have been written about culture. Loonshots identifies the small shifts in structure that control this transition, the same way that temperature controls the change from water to ice.
Using examples that range from the spread of fires in forests to the hunt for terrorists online, and stories of thieves and geniuses and kings, Bahcall shows how a new kind of science can help us become the initiators, rather than the victims, of innovative surprise.
Over the past decade, researchers have been applying the tools and techniques of this new science―the science of phase transitions―to understand how birds flock, fish swim, brains work, people vote, diseases erupt, and ecosystems collapse. Loonshots is the first to apply this science to the spread of breakthrough ideas. Bahcall distills these insights into practical lessons creatives, entrepreneurs, and visionaries can use to change our world.
Along the way, readers will learn how chickens saved millions of lives, what James Bond and Lipitor have in common, what the movie Imitation Game got wrong about WWII, and what really killed Pan Am, Polaroid, and the Qing Dynasty.
“If The Da Vinci Code and Freakonomics had a child together, it would be called Loonshots.” ―Senator Bob Kerrey

James Welling
James Welling (born 1951 in Hartford, Connecticut) is a postmodern artist. He earned both a BFA and an MFA at California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, California, where he studied with, among others, Dan Graham. He emerged in the 1970s as a postconceptual artist for whom photographic norms and the representational field itself were and remain contested and problematized. Welling lives and works in Los Angeles.
During his career, Welling has experimented with different photographic mediums, including Polaroids, gelatin silver prints, photograms, and digital prints.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
“ I want to record things in the photograph that unfold over time. The ideal work for me is a photograph that takes the viewer through several stages of understanding in untangling it. Experience is layered, so the goal is a layered photograph that could work on a couple of levels of meaning, not simultaneously but sequentially. You think about it, you walk away from the picture, you come back to it. Things that are interesting to consider visually reveal themselves over time. I have a photograph called Baffle, which is a nice wordplay on the subject. I photographed a grid over an elevator light, which is technically called a baffle. But it’s also baffling to make visual sense of. The picture you mentioned earlier, Bike, has a baffle in front of it too: it’s a honeycombed wall that allows you to see through it. It’s like the structure of the photographic negative itself, where molecules of silver cast shadows on paper to form an image.”

Laura Davis and Dan Devening at 65Grand in Visual Art Source
Recommendation by Robin Dluzen
Tumblr media
Laura Davis, "Password," 2018, knitting needles, aluminum, earring, found photo, 6 x 4 x 4". Photo by Robin Dluzen
Continuing through January 12, 2019 Chicago artists Laura Davis and Dan Devening seem to come from very different aesthetic camps. Devening is a cool formalist, while Davis culls from the sentimentality of mementos and found objects. Despite the differences in content, this pairing of artists forefronts the more nuanced characteristics that they have in common. Placement, perspective and temporality are the subject matter of this exhibition of both Devening’s collaged, two-dimensional works and Davis’ slight, sculptural assemblages. Both Davis and Devening favor an informality that belies the rigor of their practices. A pattern of circles provides the framework for Devening’s series here, a rather minimalist appearance that complicates as the viewer moves closer. At a short distance, the smudges, smears and splatters on the paper are obviously studio debris, cut out and flatly layered, with oversized paper clips securing the edges. Likewise, Davis’ assemblages reveal more when viewed from every angle. In “Password,” a Polaroid of a street view is only visible when we lean on the gallery wall and turn our face back outward toward the gallery. The haphazardly painted ovoid board hanging from the ceiling in “Kiki” is revealed to be the cut-out of a woman’s head from a Man Ray exhibit poster, suspended by an earring. While there is an aura of nonchalance in the construction of both artists’ works, the end products display light yet superbly deliberate gestures.
