Esctemplate Ghost Tweaks
Hello! Do you make DST modded characters? Have you noticed that the Esctemplate Sample Character is missing several character parts?
Some friends of mine got frustrated that Esctemplate’s ghost was missing the ability to have hair. So I fixed it!
This version of the ghost build adds the ghost_Hat symbol to ghost_esctemplate_build.scml. You can grab it here!
To add it to an existing mod:
Add the “ghost_Hat” folder to your character’s ghost folder.
Rename “ghost_esctemplate_build.scml” to match the name of your character’s existing ghost build.
Replace the old build with the new one.
Compile.
You can then go ahead and alter ghost_Hat as you please.
This isn’t a difficult thing to do, but I hope this helps someone who wasn’t sure how to do it themselves!
EDIT: Fixed an issue where the hair was misaligned in Spriter, whoops.

my journey in DST modding: day 7
yes, today is the final day for art. the "Tale of Tails" didnt end exactly how i wanted it to, but it was the best i could do with what i had.
.
first thing i did was tackle the ghost part: i cut her horns from the headbase, resized the ghost pngs and pasted them on there. with a few adjustments. but of course resizing the fucking file means i have to edit the eye placement.

my first try vs messing with the pivot point in under a minute:
a good start already.

i changed some minor stuff in the other files (added the modicon, silho, swap icon, etc), but now im proud to say that i have a working, fully animated demon girl:
obviously she doesnt look perfect, but at least it's decent.

some problems that i havent been able to fix:
the scale. she looks fine next to wilson, but hats still look fucked up on her.
the fact that some things STILL move out of place. the back view is the worst of all three because there are too many things moving all the time. as much as i tried to camouflage the tail into the coat, it still moves on its own cause thats how it's animated. (would be awesome if yall just ignored it)
she can't wear any skins. all the parts are too dependant on each other for that to work, especially the tail.

i can't believe this is finally over. it's been one hell of a week. we are still not done, but now it's out of my hands and into my friend's. ill keep you posted of anything that happens.

Playable Monster Maxwell progress! I guess weekends are alternating between Retorateras and mod progress.
Here we have his death animation and running animation! The running is particularly hard with him and his awkward torso but... hey, I'm trying my best here.

my journey in DST modding: day 6
these are the last few days of making character art for this mod. im pretty hopeful that the "Tale of Tails" will finally come to an end!

but first, there's some stuff i need to tweak. when i tossed her into the game, i noticed the game itself adds a filter that makes her hair way too light. i did desaturate it a little but with the filter on, it looked almost white.
then i just darkened and saturated it a little more just so see if that would fix it. here's the before and after:
it's not a BIIIG change, but to me it looks much better. excuse the difference in the tail, i remade the tip so it wasnt curved. from the front, she looks perfect. but today is the day we conquer this damn tail layer.

i tried to look for the animation template in the Klei forums (again), but the files werent available for download, then i added it to the game via steam workshop....but the game said it was crashed and it was disabled.
.
i found another one in the workshop that i was able to download and look inside its files, but god fucking damn it, there was NO layer in the place i needed, and if i have to rearrange layers again, id rather just stick to what im already doing.

but now ive got an idea and that will be my last ditch effort. i just made a backup for the entire folder and here i go.

i redrew the tail in a way that mimicked the back of the coat. but i had to make it so the tail is coming out of it. it looks a little weird but it's what i got.
time to jump back into the game! im sure it's gonna look a little fucked up when the torso animates from the back and distorts a little. but whatever i just want this to be over.

the first screen looked really promising, but i fucked up the pivot points for the hair and tail again. but that's absolutely fixable.
i think i have to make the braids even shorter and get the pivot points working again, but hey, that wont take too long. and things are looking up.

eventually i fixed it, but there are two things left still.

the ghost, and the big portrait.

it was hard to mimic the art style but i think i managed:

theres only the ghost left, i think i'll have to resize the png and straight up paste the elements i need. but its getting kinda late. tomorrow will be the last art day, actually. have her page in character selection as an extra:
