ZUTARA AGAIN! :D!

It's been a while I didn't share something here on tumblr so... Hi hi!

I forgot about zutara week and when I remembered I was sketching this and realized it didn't match with any day theme. q_q

So here it is! A day later, a momtara and dadko argument with poor Sokka in the middle! LOL

If someone it's interested, here is my art process:

Looking for Ursa right after being banished had some...wildly unexpected results. One: Zuko actually found her. Two: she wasn't alone. Three: leaving her children behind in order to protect them was, apparently, just something she did.

Looking at the bright side, Zuko now had a three-year-old younger brother to look after. Looking at the dark side, Zuko now had a three-year-old kid he needed to parent while also keeping him a secret from his father because—may Agni help him—the Fire Lord would have to go through Zuko first if he dared to even look at Lu Ten II.

(AKA an AU in which Zuko is a good big brother and doesn't want another kid to grow up like he did.)

dad!zuko means so much to me bc his father was so cruel and heartless so everything he’s learned about being a father was from iroh.

when zutara’s first child is born, zuko cries buckets. he hardly puts them down. even when the baby sleeps, he holds onto them and keeps them warm.

he vows to love his kids unconditionally.

zuko is such a great father, so loving and supportive bc he never got that from ozai.

he never wants his children to think, even for a second, that he doesn’t love them.

katara has a whole scrapbook of zuko with their kids just being cute as hell. zuko looks through it quite frequently.

Izumi is constantly embarrassed by her dads

I think Zuko would be reluctant to have children and spend years agonizing over it out of fear that he’ll be anything like his own father. Even after he decides he’s ready, he still has that lingering fear.

But as soon as he looks into baby Izumi’s eyes for the first time, Zuko can finally put that fear to rest. That’s his baby, his daughter, and he instantly knows he’d die for her. He loves her so much and he knows in his heart he could never ever bring himself to hurt her.

'Zutara should've happened to subvert the 'hero always gets the girl' trope!!!''Bad boy always gets the girl' is also a trope and one with significantly more misogynistic history than the hero one.Kataang itself is a subversion of how it's usually potrayed to make it feminist with specific writing points to switch up the gender dynamics and thus defy gender roles and sexist stereotypes,including that Katara is also the hero of Atla as much as Aang is,while Zutara calls for the bad boy one to be played straight in a classic faux-feminism move and false attempt at challenging cisheteronormativity.Also Zuko wouldn't have gotten Katara a statue 'unlike Aang' not just because he canonically didn't but also because she would never want one and there is no evidence to suggest she would nor that she finds manliness on men attractive nor that she's a preppy good girl nor that she enjoys playing into maternal roles to anybody except her actual kids or sees Aang as her son nor that she hates other girls her age nor that Zuko wants to burden his girlfriend with all his emotional problems nor be a 'female fantasy' for any girl instead of his girlfriend's boyfriend👍🏼Projecting is for film and y'all're M.Night Shyamalan

Yes, I'm here for Zutara. No one can change my mind. I've been shipping them since I was a kid, long before I knew about shipping and fandom. When I re-watch ATLA, I shipping them even more. When I watch Zutarian art and video, I shipping them even more. When I read Zutarian meta, fanfic, or headcanon, I shipping them even more. Even when I read canon shipper points, I still love and shipping Zutara even harder. I mean, just look at their chemistry! And some people still denying.

At Toph and Aang's wedding, Zuko filled in as father of the groom and Iroh had the honor of being the father of the bride. Meanwhile Katara took on both roles as mother of the bride and mother of the groom.
