The Mortuary Assistant coming to PS5, Xbox Series, PS4, and Xbox One on August 2 alongside ‘Definitive Edition’ update - Gematsu

Publisher DreadXP and developer DarkStone Digital will release horror game The Mortuary Assistant for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on August 2 alongside a free “Definitive Edition” update for existing platforms, the company announced.

The Mortuary Assistant first launched for PC via Steam on August 2, 2022, followed by Switch on April 20, 2023.

In The Mortuary Assistant, you take on the role of Rebecca Owens, a newly graduated apprentice at River Fields Mortuary, but not everything at this job is as it seems. Late one night you are called in to handle some embalmings. When the Mortician, Raymond, calls the mortuary when you arrive, you soon realize this is a night like none other and there’s no escape from the demonic forces plaguing the mortuary. Examine and prepare bodies with disturbingly realistic techniques including cleaning, embalming, jaw-wiring, and more. Some bodies require the basics before returning them to the morgue, while others will need more of an esoteric approach to dispel the demons possessing them.

Tengo muchas reseñas pendientes de juegos, libros y películas que he visto durante este mes de Abril, pero no podía esperar a hacer esta reseña.

Puedo decir con orgullo, que he conseguido jugar y no solo mirar a mi novio jugar. ¿Por donde empiezo? Este juego me ha hecho hasta risa de lo nerviosa que me ponía.

Para empezar: los gráficos. Los gráficos no están nada mal para lo que es este juego, tengo que decir que está bastante bien hecho, exceptuando que nuestra compañera Rebecca parece que flote sobre el suelo. Son gráficos realistas, y la verdad es que los cadáveres están bien hechos. Las entidades también están relativamente bien (p*to bicho blanco). En lo que respecta a las entidades, hay varias ya que se trata de varios demonios, pero creo que los más habituales son una figura negra de ojos rojos que aparece por ahí a sitios donde seguramente tienes que entrar y te quedas pensando “j*der, no”; apariciones del pasado de Rebecca como su padre, o su abuela, su madre o incluso ella misma; y por último el que más miedo pienso que da: el p*to bicho blanco. Este bicho (entenderme, no se que es, yo lo llamo así pero tiene cuerpo como de persona) es blanco como con grietas negras, humanoide y con los ojos salidos y una boca horrenda. ¿Jumpscares? Por un tubo. Este bicho creo que es el que menos y a la vez más jumpscares da. Aparece de repente y sabes que por narices tienes que acercarte a él, pero evidentemente no quieres. Le doy un aplauso al bicho blanco por darme miedo a mi, a mi novio y casi a mi perro, vaya. Realmente es una entidad horrible, entre lo fea que es y que aparece donde menos te lo esperas y cuando menos te lo esperas.

La ambientación está muy conseguida (no sé de este tipo de sitios la verdad) pero el tema de sacar a los cadáveres y la sala de embalsamar e incluso los sonidos de pasos, golpes puertas abriéndose y cerrándose está muy bien; y el proceso de embalsamar también es muy realista (de esto sé lo básico), tanto que incluso da una pereza increíble tener que repetir el proceso 3 veces para encontrar al demonio.

La parte que creo que falla es el asunto de encontrar y diferenciar al demonio, ya que te dan 3 símbolos por los 3 cadáveres que embalsamas, pero hay demonios que son exactamente iguales salvo por una única runa que no te dan, entonces las posibilidades de equivocarte o acertar ya se transforman en un 50-50. Y la verdad es que es un asco equivocarte después de haber hecho el trabajazo de embalsamar a 3 cadáveres y mientras pasar por los sustos. También creo que a veces es bastante complicado diferenciar quien de los 3 cadáveres es el demonio. A veces está muy claro y es evidente, pero hay otras veces que puede llegar a confundirte muchísimo y volver a equivocarte.

También es bastante complicado conseguir los distintos finales (que son 5), a excepción del bueno y el malo de manera genérica.

En general el juego no está nada mal, pero al final cansa un poco por el tema de todo el proceso de embalsamar. Pero como juego corto de miedo está muy bien y muy conseguido.

For context and story: Lady Mairya has gone missing after leaving the saftey of the palace rueled by Smithy's younger brother- Prince Pressley, as she had something seeming to call out to her and wished to see what it was. With her lack of returning within the expected time, an ancient stone grew angry and forced Pressley's hand into seeking her. It was with this forceful push that the stone then used Vane's own weakness against him- infesting his mind with its dark influence to go find his precious sister and bring her back to thw palace at once...

And that's when I realized it was perfect to nail down how my fiance can see how his encounter works. Tad freaky, and refrential of the monsters in Until Dawn and The Predator, since as you see... Vane can see by motion... Do with that battle info as you wish.

I also wanted to draw his little Aeros too, and had their desigh play into a joke that all of Smithy's other weapons call him 'cyclops' and its great. -^^-
