Who would have thought (lol) that the man who named his band after a line uttered by Anne Rice's Lestat would make the perfect Loustat feels song? It only seems appropriate.
youtube
Also appropriate that it's a song by a man about a man.

Savage Garden - To the Moon and Back 1996
"To the Moon and Back" is a song by Australian pop duo Savage Garden. It was released in Australia on 4 November 1996 as the second single from their self-titled 1997 album, and was the follow-up to their hit "I Want You" (aka the chic-a-cherry cola song). It won the 1997 ARIA Music Award for Song of the Year, and became the band's first number-one single in their native country.
Their follow-up single "Truly Madly Deeply" became an international hit, reaching number one on several music charts. In the wake of such success, the band decided "To the Moon and Back" had greater potential to become a hit than its first chartings had borne out, and so instead of mining a fourth single from the album as they had for the Australian market, they decided to mix a shorter edit of "To the Moon and Back" and re-release it internationally in 1998. This time the song peaked at number 24 in the US. In the UK, the single debuted at number three, becoming Savage Garden's biggest hit in the country. This prompted the re-release of their debut single, remixed as "I Want You '98".
"To the Moon and Back" received a total of 70,6% yes votes! 💖 Savage Garden's singer Darren Hayes has been featured in the polls before with the title track from his debut solo album Spin (poll #3), but didn't get enough yes votes and is currently the lowest charted song on this poll blog with 30%. :'(

Oh, I’ve posted a bit about him. He’s really been through so much and so much of it echoes Harry’s struggles. Savage Garden was huge, but here in the states Darren, as a solo artist, didn’t have anywhere close to the level of success Harry has now. When you think how much Sony controlled Darren, imagine how much they control an artist who brings in as much revenue as Harry does.
I can’t add all the videos, but follow the link for the rest of them.

Release: January 7, 2002
Lyrics:
When moonlight crawls along the street
Chasing away the summer heat
Footsteps outside, somewhere below
The world revolves, I've let it go
We build our Church above the street
We practiced love between these sheets
The candy sweetness scent of you
It bathes my skin, I'm stained of you
And all I have to do is hold you
There's a racing within my heart
And I am barely touching you
Turn the lights down low
Take it off, let me show
My love for you insatiable
Turn me on, never stop
Wanna taste every drop
My love for you insatiable
The moonlight plays upon your skin
A kiss that lingers takes me in
I fall asleep inside of you
There are no words, there's only truth
Breathe in breathe out, there is no sound
We move together up and down
We levitate our bodies soar
Our feet don't even touch the floor
But nobody knows you like I do
'Cause the world may not understand
That I grow stronger in your hands
Turn the lights down low
Take it off, let me show
My love for you insatiable
Turn me on, never stop
Wanna taste every drop
My love for you insatiable
Turn the lights down low
Take it off, let me show
My love for you insatiable
Turn me on, never stop
Wanna taste every drop
My love for you insatiable
Turn the lights down low
Take it off, let me show
My love for you insatiable
Turn me on, never stop
Wanna taste every drop
My love for you insatiable
Baby, oh yeah
We never sleep, we're always holding hands
Kissing for hours talking and making plans
I feel like a better man, just being in the same room
We never sleep, there's just so much to do
So much to say can't close my eyes when I'm with you
Insatiable the way I'm loving you, oh baby, yeah
Turn the lights down low
Take it off, let me show
My love for you insatiable
Turn me on, never stop
Wanna taste every drop
My love for you insatiable
Turn the lights down low
Take it off, let me show
My love for you insatiable
Turn me on, never stop
Wanna taste every drop
My love for you insatiable, baby
Songwriter:
Oh baby, when I'm looking in your eyes
Insatiable, that we ain't loving you
Ohh, looking at you insatiable, insatiable
For you insatiable for you insatiable
Love for you insatiable
Love for you insatiable
Love for you insatiable
Love for you insatiable
Love for you insatiable...
Michael Woods / Jordan Willey
SongFacts:
"Insatiable" is the first solo single from Australian singer Darren Hayes, the former lead singer of Savage Garden. The song served as the lead single from his debut solo album Spin (2002). It was aired on American adult radio on January 7, 2002 and was released as a CD single in Australia the following week, on January 14. The song topped the New Zealand singles chart for the week of April 21, 2002, peaked at number three on the Australian and Danish singles charts, and peaked at number eight on the Swedish and British charts.
“Insatiable” is in the key of G minor and played at a tempo of 144 beats per minute.
The music video features Darren Hayes watching videos of an actress he is in love with. The video continues with Hayes showing how he grew out his hair and dyed it blonde, which is his natural hair color.
Hayes said in a HuffPost post in 2022 that while US label executives were initially excited about the song itself, after being shown a rough cut of the video, they feared Hayes seemed "too gay" for American audiences. and wanted to “rework” his song. Image “so as not to scare off the fans”.

If I had a nickel every time I got a crush on a guy with amazing vocal skill and gothic vibes who is actually a natural blonde, and gay, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Darren Hayes at the “Frosted Tips with Lance Bass”podcast on September 17, 2023.
“Truly Madly, Deeply . . . excited about this episode for so many reasons!
Plus, he was in one of the biggest bands of the 90s, reaching international fame with huge hits like "I Knew I Loved You" and "Truly Madly Deeply," but behind the scenes, all was not what it seemed.
Darren Hayes, former frontman of Savage Garden, opens up about coming to terms with his sexuality, coping with depression, and the real reason behind the band's bitter split. It's a hopeful story of overcoming adversity and reclaiming the narrative! “
