He whips around, ready to snap at yet another person asking him to do something-

It’s you. Your cheeks are the slightest bit flushed. His hackles settle, temper calmed by the nearness of his other half.

“What d’ya need, darlin’?” He smiles as he raises his hand to welcome you into an embrace.

You don’t move, causing him to frown.

“I… uhm, I-” you stumble slightly, your hand unconsciously moving to your neck, where you have pinned a shawl to cover yourself.

Realization dawns on him, and a low, dull ache begins to burn in his gut.

“Y’ sayin’ we need to get away for a few days?”

You sheepishly shake your head. His smile returns and he takes the step to move closer. He wraps his arms around you, clutching you to him. You sigh, and melt into his strong embrace.

“I’m sorry,” you mumble into his neck, shuddering slightly as you can feel your heat closing in on you. Tomorrow you’d be a blithering mess.

Arthur presses his lips to your forehead.

“Reckon that’s the best thing anyone’s asked me to do in a while.”

“You ain’t mad?”

“Am I mad about my partner askin’ me to get away from this shithole for a few days and spend the hours ruttin’ away?”

“I just hate being so… needy. Dumb omega shit.”

Arthur sighs knowingly, then grins as he pulls the shawl down to expose your neck and immediately buries his head against your clammy skin.

You yelp in surprise and arousal as you feel his tongue press against your mating gland - it’s a good thing that he has one arm strong around your waist, else you would be stumbling to the ground.

Arthur groans, squeezing you gently. “I’m yer alpha. Y’know what I need? I need to satisfy you.”

this was the opening scene for a something I started writing after watching the Manben inverview with Nishi Keiko and thinking back to all the classic shoujo manga I stayed up reading back in the day, like damn that's so true Urasawa Naoki

it's partially a love letter to all the greats of the genre that I read, and also to the late night teleseryses that captivated me over the years lmao. it'd be nice to find the time to tackle it properly as a comic, but I'm having fun working on it recreationally :)

watched the play-in games today, had a lot of fun!! that warriors/grizzlies game was fuckin sick. playoff jimmy back at it lmfao, plus steph exploding in the 4th quarter, that game was wild af. cannot wait for the playoffs proper to start. hopefully ja's ankle injury isn't too serious, cuz if he's healthy and the grizzlies get the 8th spot, that western conference bracket looks fucking crazy lol

i mean okc is def the favourite, w/l record and point differential wise they're like a bazillion miles ahead of everyone else, so if i were to pick a team to make the finals out of the west it'd obv be them, but everywhere else is looking like a bloodbath lmfao. rockets/warriors, lakers/twolves and clippers/nuggets could all go either way imo cuz, assuming good health across the board, those teams are all so close together. how good a chance any of them have of beating okc i'm not really sure, but any of them could be good enough to make the conference finals imo (bracket permitting of course, obv in reality la and denver would have get past okc in round 2 to even make the wcf, but my point still stands)

Y'all don't understand how much it means to me that Oluwande and Jim describe each other as their best friends.

There is no doubt that they care about each other, that they would do anything for each other. When Jim thinks back to the Revenge, the first thing they think is Oluwande. Jim is immediately honest with the kissing, and Oluwande is supportive. With a sword to Olu's neck, he says he "wants to grow old" with Jim. When given the choice, Oluwande leaves comfort and stability for Jim.

In end, they ARE best friends! They love each other through and through. I love that their relationship can't be tied down to one label and that it isn't just romantic or platonic. It's both. It's neither. It's beyond that. It's theirs and it's special. It's theirs and I adore it so.

I've never really gone into detail about it but Hoenn's LGBT culture is VERY different from our own. Pride as we know it isn't really a thing in Hoenn. Rather than flags, there's a whole system of symbolism to indicate your orientation to potential partners.

Gay marriage has been legal for millennia and transness was once believed to have been the caused by being blessed by certain gods ( most often a Kyogre-Lugia-Lunala composite deity ) with minor spiritual powers as a result. The trans community also tends to use a term similar to the Hawaiian māhū to describe themselves. Our own lexicon for LGBT identities is actually a very recent import.

The epitome of gay romance is basically a series of ritualized gestures and gift exchanges folowed by moving in together for a year before getting married and building an altar together. It's modernized but the broad strokes remain the same. It's sometimes confuses foreigners if they don't understand the meaning of certain flower gifts yet.
