"The story tells a cartoonist, Dermdem (Gap), who grew up in an orphanage, saw a stray cat, and brought it home. One day, the cat became a man. Apparently, he came from A Miao, a boy from the ear tribe of the "Ear Tribe". The arrival of A Miao disrupted Dermdem's boring life, and the earth-shaking changes also triggered a series of ironic anecdotes. In the process of running in, Dermdem learned the true meaning of life, and also felt the feeling of warmth and happiness."

I've only watched one and a half episodes so far but its PERFECT and I LOVE IT

Meow Ears Up ep. 3 mini review ✐∗  ˖࣪ ༻

rating 𓄷 9.5 - same score last week. I'm trying to understand how I can become so attached to a series that is idiotic in plot, yet so heartwrenching in the feels department.

spotlight trope of the week 𓄷 Backhug (please, the lip-pout I gave when Meow went to hug Dermdem 😭)

spotlight actor(s) of the week: Gap (Dermdem) -- beautiful performance of pretending to be okay with Meow leaving, but inevitably breaking down the minute he does.

Review:

God, I really don't know what it is about this series that I'm just utterly in love with. I can remember my initial ick of it being about a cat falling for a human, but this week, I managed to get rid of that ick, and now I think I've.... normalized it...?

Faiyen was a gem. I loved his smile, and he was doing it constantly. While I wish they would've taught him and his buddy a thing or two about basketball, it was still fun to get to see his character and his love at first sight trope that's happening with Mr. teacher.

I thought we were done having to see any more characters with these pitiful wigs, and then they go and put it on the children...sigh.

I don't know what my soul did when Dermdem yelled at Meow and his excited face turns sad with the little ear droops. I can't handle it. Jams is doing a good job at being cute and constantly bubbly, it was weird to see something different (nevertheless, it was enough to almost bring me to tears).

Meow smelling (?) that Dermdem was sad was quite..well sad. We already knew that Meow wasn't actually going to be gone for long, but part of me wanted Dermdem to chase after him after finding himself lonely as hell in the house. Anyway, Gap put on a heartwrenching performance. There was nothing sentimental about something so small as a hat, but it meant a lot to him, and now it means a lot to me.

We get some GL next week! Yay! I'm kind of hoping she ends up being Meow and Faiyen's sister or related to them in some sort of way. She's too cute.

Okay Meow Ears Up is mind numbingly adorable but how much does Dermdem (Gap Kittichat Techahuasing) look like Tay Tawan’s younger brother?

Meow and why its wonderful

Been thinking about this a bunch, because I’m known to like my BL on the steamier side, or the complex emotional journey side.

So why do I love Meow soo soo much.

And it’s all about Dermdem. He has basically been in love with Meow since almost first sight, and yes he spent some time figuring out his feelings but then most of the time has been him as an older person, navigating how he feels and what kind of relationship he can have with a younger, innocent and neuro-diverse person.

And it’s wonderful. It’s sweet and sensitive and its conceivable, given who Meow is as a (cat) person that their relationship may never be intimate but Dermdem just wants to be with Meow. Their relationship as it is is enough and he controls his own interest in sexual intimacy (which you can see in his adult self sometimes) because what they have is special to him.

This show, in my opinion anyway, is exploring something romance often doesn’t, which is relationships between non-standard people and how they can be fulfilling and meaningful. I really like what the show is saying underneath the surface cuteness.

I started watching Meow Ears Up and I love it! It's funny and sooooo cute!

I have some doubts about the plot, Dermdem was surprised for like 2 seconds, then he just accepted the fact that there is a cat boy in his house. Never asked any questions afterwards. And shouldn't they be searching for Meow's brother? But I don't really mind.

Besides, as a person helping stray cats on a regular basis, I'm happy that the show approaches the topic in a right way. Yes, cats need proper food, yes, cats may destroy things, yes, cats need attention and care. It may sound obvious but believe me, there are people who can throw their cat out on the street because it scratched their favourite sofa or woke them up at night. It's a small thing but it's so nice to see it in a show.
