Hello love, how are you?
I have a little request for the Arranged marriage Au. What if insted of getting a job, Thena goes to some classes, like fashion dessing or something with art. Maybe something she did not have the resources for before. And i also think she would be very good for something creative/artistic and Gil would be her biggest fan and love everithing she does.
As always thank you for your works 🩷🤍
"Need some help?"
Thena looked away from the map of the sprawling campus. Of course even the smallest university had a complex system of halls, whether just to host basic open classes or not.
"Are you enrolling this year?"
Heavens no, and it was entirely because of teenagers and twenty-somethings - like him - that she wasn't. "No, I'm looking for the open classes that are being held-"
"Oh yes, the community workshops!" the young man beamed with excitement. He was still hovering a little close for her taste, though. "Wonderful idea, if I do say so myself."
"Were they your idea?" she droned, uninterested in speaking with anyone except the actual workshop instructors. She looked behind her.
Gil was parking the car.
He had insisted on driving her to and from, which she had tried to decline. He usually would just send her with a personal driver, perhaps a bodyguard or two. But Gil insisted he do it himself.
He wanted her to have the normal life experience, he said. If she wanted to take a sewing or a drawing class, then he wanted to take her, as a dutiful husband should. She wasn't sure if that was necessary, but she knew it was sweetly intended.
"I'm a graduate, but I still lead the odd lab here and there," the ball of hair continued to try and charm her. He was making it clear he wasn't a student, maybe in hopes of enticing her.
"Congratulations," she grumbled. She still couldn't find what building her basic seamstress lessons would be in, but asking this peacock was simply not an option. Maybe Gil would know. She looked behind her again.
"Waiting for someone?" he asked, even more brazenly, leaning against the map signage. "Partner? Boyfriend--girlfriend?"
She glared at him. She didn't know what had made her seem so approachable to this boy and his hair but she would have to figure it out and dispose of it immediately. "Husband."
"Ah!" his eyes lit up, but she got the distinct impression that it was only because it made her more of a challenge in his eyes. "Married young?--school sweethearts or childhood chums?"
That wasn't any of his goddamn business, now was it? Thena gripped the strap of the bag extending from her far shoulder over to her other hip. "He's...older."
And he was going to cause quite a scene if he arrived to her being harassed.
"Hm," the Little Prince shifted against the sign, sprawling out against the post. He was quite tall, she had to concede, although with Gil in her mind he seemed lanky and stretched out in comparison. "Ever had a craving for something...younger?"
She stepped away from the map. Perhaps it would be better just to wander around until she found where she was looking for, even if it made her late. She could excuse herself upon the mistake, surely.
The last time she took a class of any kind was for basic administrative training, and that was really more about keeping a closer eye on her father than for her own betterment. She had never thought of expanding her own horizons--no time for such things.
"Are you sure you're married?"
She took the bait (unfortunately), spinning around to glare at him. Something about his tone had annoyed her so sharply it was as if he'd poked his finger right into a soft spot. "What?"
He shrugged at her once he had her attention, though. It was like a tactic a little boy would use, annoying her for her attention whether it was positive or negative. He ran his fingers through his hair (he was probably quite popular with the young pups around here). "You've no ring, you're here on your own. I'm starting to think you're just trying to get rid of me."
She didn't have a wedding ring, that was true. Well, they didn't exactly have a wedding, in a sense. She had a piece of paper with their names on it. "Not everyone sees the need for such things."
"I would think a flower like you deserves to be gilded with the finest of treasures," he schmoozed.
"I am not a flower," she turned away from him again, determined to wait for Gil to join her. How far away had he parked the car?!
"No, you are a masterpiece."
Thena bristled. He sounded closer to her, no matter how much she refused to look and verify. "Is telling you I'm not interested not enough?"
"Would your husband let it deter him?"
He had some gall comparing himself to Gil. Gil was many things, and being a law-abiding citizen was not one of them. But she would take his ridiculous penchant for spoiling her any day, only because he was so genuinely kind at heart. And he didn't lean himself into her personal space liberally.
"Maybe he's more boyfriend material," the hairball chuckled at the thought.
"Y'okay, sweetheart?"
Thena brightened as Gil finally strode over. He had his hands in his pockets, but she knew they were balled up into fists. He looked good in the casual clothes she had picked out for him.
In her own words, he couldn't be wearing suits all day, everyday, everywhere; he looked like a mob boss.
"Darling," she smiled at him, and it wouldn't have taken someone who lived with her to see how strained it was.
"Hm," Gil puffed through tight lips. He came right over, extracting his hand to pull her closer to him by the waist. "Who's this?"
"Just offering to show her around," the young upstart spoke for himself, determined not to back down from Gil's intimidation. "I'm Eros."
"Gilgamesh." Thena watched on, some of her annoyance giving way to amusement as the two shook hands. Gil made it clear that he was going to crush this kid into dust if need be. "I'm her husband."
"Ah," Eros made a civil smile, trying not to seem like he was massaging his sore hand. "She mentioned she was married; I admit, I looked for a ring."
"I'm having them polished," Gil was quick to answer. He looked at her with that glint in his eye--the dangerous one. "Our anniversary is coming up."
She shook her head at him microscopically. What a liar he was.
"Shall we?" Gil released her waist only to offer his arm more formally. "Don't wanna be late, hon."
"Of course," she took Gil's elbow, which still required both hands to get around. She nudged him, swerving them away from her new acquaintance.
"I'll be seeing you, lovely!"
"Does he not know how to take a hint?" Gil snarled openly, looking over their shoulders to glare at him and everything.
"Obviously not," Thena tugged at his jacket to turn him around again. This was a good choice; the fabric was heavy but not stiff and the rich black brought out the shades of brown in his eyes and even his hair in the right light.
"Are you okay?"
She smiled at him. He had on his puppy dog eyes, regretting having to leave her side for any reason. "Gil-"
"I should have known you'd draw attention," he lamented, his eyes drifting over her face, making a visible stop at her lips before drifting down her neck and her long hair drifting over her shoulder.
Thena let him lift her bag to pull it out from under the strap for her.
"I was looking at the layout of the school. I never imagined it was quite so vast."
"We're looking for the east hall, named after some old dude named Arishem," Gil snorted. But of course he had memorized the locations of each of her classes.
"I knew you would know."
Gil peeked at her, although she made an effort not to look at him. Sometimes when she did she would feel a little...funny--a little twisting sensation in her naval. It was as uncomfortable as it was intriguing. "You ready?"
She sighed faintly. In truth, she didn't know. But if she didn't do something, Gil would either buy her a business to run or a university to attend, neither of which were appealing. This was simple enough, to learn some basic skills, explore some interests.
He nudged her with his elbow, trying to pull her out of any negatively tinged thoughts. "You'll be designing my suits in no time."
She laughed, nudging him in return. "I will not. I might be able to repair a rip and tear on occasion, at best."
"Well, picking out my clothes is good practice, right?"
She smiled at him again. She was rather proud of her selections for him, actually. He obviously knew it, too, letting her tug at the collar of his jacket. "I won't deny that."
He pouted at her. "Guess I don't look good enough to keep the wolves away from you, though."
She shook her head at him. "I'm sure you scared him well, enough."
"Apparently I have to get you a big, fat diamond for that."
"Gil," she chided him immediately. "Don't--you know very well that I'm not going to wear some behemoth on my finger anyway, so don't bother."
"Fine," he sighed, as if she were telling him to take out the garbage, rather than advising against an engagement ring worth thousands of pounds. "Just a plain wedding ring, got it."
"Gil-"
"We're here!"
She eyed him; she wasn't going to forget this. But he opened the door for her, ushering her inside. "I know what you're trying to do."
"Don't wanna be late," he grinned at her, taking her hand and walking just faster than her by enough to make her have to trot to keep up.
"You've dropped me off, you can go," she urged, before he could introduce himself and make a big show of being her husband to anyone else.
If he wanted her to live a normal, inconspicuous life then he had to stop drawing attention to them.
"What, you don't wanna show off your husband to the other ladies?" he grinned.
"It may not just be ladies," she corrected him, although that apparently was an entirely different trap laid by him.
"Then I've really gotta make sure I walk you to the door."
"Gil," she rolled her eyes at him. But he gave her hand a squeeze.
"Don't be nervous."
He knew her too well. She looked at the walls, with the occasional bulletin board or display of the school's accolades. "I'm not."
"You're terrible at lying, sweetheart," he chuckled and leaned in to kiss her cheek. "You're gonna do great."
She refused to admit that she liked his little affection. Her hand patted his chest. "I'll text you when I'm done."
"Sure thing." He liked living the casual life, she could tell. He liked not having to be 'Boss' or appear cold and dangerous. "Hey."
Thena's eyes went wide, and then closed completely as he pulled her into a real kiss--a much deeper one. Her hand slid up his chest. It gripped his collar at first, but then the kiss made all thoughts leave her mind. Her tongue mingled with his and a sound escaped her that she would not be acknowledging.
Gil pulled away, giving her such a devillish grin that he was looking more like his mob boss self. "Have fun, sweetie."
She huffed, releasing him with a bit of a push. Her face was flushed hot, but she glared at him. "Inconspicuous my ass."
#Thenamesh Marriage Contract AU#thank you so much for the ask my dear!!!#you have such great ideas#I love the idea of Thena getting to experience things she couldn't before#she gets to think about what she really wants to do#how she wants to live her own life#and she has a very supportive husband to help her with it#I love the idea of Thena liking fashion#she is kind of particular about her personal style#and she gets stuff for Gil because she has a good fashion sense#and Gil is like how do you like my new suit my WIFE picked it out for me#he makes the guys working under him admire how his tie matches his cufflinks and they're like.....okay??#anyway Thena takes some classes locally#just some beginner classes on learning to sew and draw and some design basics#she wants to start small#and Gil knows she's going to be admired anywhere she goes#he does look into getting her a proper ring#he wants to get the biggest gaudiest solitaire available but Thena has a point she won't wear it#so he needs to find something sensible#also she's like I don't need a wedding ring we didn't have a wedding#Gil tells her well design your wedding dress and we'll get it done

shout out to that one time I watched the PRISMCorps Magical Girl lore video and the first few episodes of TGAMM in veeery close proximity. too much time on this xP loong ramble in the tags
#crossover#tgamm#prism corps#prismcorps#molly mcgee#scratch mcgee#tgamm scratch#my art stuff#shitpost#ok if you think about this too hard it starts to fall apart I only did this for PRISM Scratch bc its hilarious but the basic rundown is:#the idea behind PRISM creatures are that they basically design the outfit and powers and all that for their bonded magical person#since scratch doesn't really like her at the beginnning so I can imagine that he would've expected her to hate the 'grim reaper' theme but.#of course. she spins it into being a 'grin reaper' to help enhappify brighton because she's that awesome#Being a young Magical girl in PRISM is kind of like being a child soldier so its not a good look for the town huh#UHH ooh their symbol is the weird chairman's face. which I thought would be cute since it already looks like a heart#you can't see her hood but maybe you can imagine she can pull it down to do that weird face shroud with the chairman's robes idk#the lines on her one sock and on her weird jester pants were supposed to resemble smiling sharp teeth but eh#I do like her ghost bun and the mask on her face kinda like how all the ghosts have that. eye. shadow. thing?#First time tackling the shows style so i'll do better next time#i'll do the katscrewmi in this style some other time but I'm done with this for now rghagagaaah

Decided to put white tulips and white roses and lilies along with doves because they symbolize Innocence and naivety . Also added some swans on the second pic just for the Swan lake motif and they're elegant so
Also gave her this regency era-esque clothing just for a gentle nice contrast to her mother's more colorful brilliant silhouette .

Every time I see your sprite work, it just makes me want to make a sprite edit of Akane with the design I made for her in my "She Was Saved" AU (An AU based on the idea of Akane surviving the events of DRA), but I've never done any sprite work so, do you have any tips?
Ok ok so, first things first, i wanna make it clear that none of my sprites are made from scratch, they're sprite edits, hence why i always tag them as such. Every single one of them used some canon character as a base for the base sprite (that one fitst sprite where the character is just standing there with a simple expression) and a handful even have canon sprites uses as bases for poses. Just figured i should make that clear so there's no confusion here.
While I'm not sure if I'm the best at giving tips n stuff, here's what i could think off;
I think the most important tip i can give anyone who wants to get into sprite editing is MAKE A BUNCH OF LAYERS‼️Save things separately just to be sure rather than merging them because that almost always leads to more time spent later down the line. While the amount of separate things certainly varies from artists to artists here's the one i use for my edits.

The app i use (Ibis paintX) allows me to make folders with a bunch of layers to them so i use them to keep stuff more organized.
On the first pic well have a folder with the base sprite, one for the different poses and in Beni's case two for the different eyes she has (one for the normal eyes and one for the ones that are part of the glasses, normally i only have one layer with all the eye variants)
On the second image I've opened the folder that holds the base sprite, or should i say just sprite since it's in this folder that i organize everything that belongs to one specific sprite when I'm making them as to not get myself confused. Anyways, you can't see in the screenshots but the first layer has her glasses, second has her eyebrows and mouth and the third has the eyes.
Fourth has the main body lineart and fifth has the main body colors, please keep those separated as by doing so you make it easier to add those lil effects onto the character's faces on certain expressions + having the lineart of the main body always helps when sketching and connecting the different arms to the main body.
Lastly you got the arms, but ideally you should make the arms/poses in a way they can be placed over the body layers since that just makes things easier to put together, i just have this habit of placing the no pose arms under everything else.
When editing i make the different arms and eyes in advance so that when i start making the different sprites i can just duplicate the canva with the first one a thousand times and everything will carry along with those. Saves time in the long-run + you don't need to separate all layers on them (lineart, colors, shading) since they're just parts there's no problem in just merging them together.
A very important thing to note tho i that if the character has glasses or any accessories that you plan on removing or moving around in some pose/sprite this accessory should be made in a different layer from the main body, this makes editing easier than if you had to just erase and refill the part where the accessory was in the sprite you don't want it to be in.
A similar rule should be applied to the character's hair, if they have short or mid length hair you can just add the whole thing to the main body sprite, but if the character's hair is long you should make this bluk/back part of the hair in a separate layer placed under the main body layers. This also apllies to any back accessories.
Here's Akira as an example; she has one layer for her glasses, one for the back/bulk of her hair and one for the guitar case she carries.

These are essentially the basics of if, so let's go over to some actual tips.
Make the sprites on a small canvas.
Since the Danganronpa another games are made on game maker the size of the character sprites is surprisingly small, while I don't think you should just do it on the same canvas size as the actual sprite, it's good to have a smaller canvas so that the lower amount of pixels gives it a look similar to the in-game sprites + as you can see by mine, they don't actually look low quality at all.
(if curious, the go-to canvas size i use for most of my edits is 773x1020)
Use other sprites as references/bases
Especially if you're just starting on making sprites, use the canon ones for bases, references or even just straight up trace them. This will make the sprite look closer to canon and will start making you undertand the elements that make up the style of the sprite, do it enough times and soon enough you'll be able to make poses on your own without needing a sprite from the game as a base.
Remember! What's wrong about tracing is not the act of tracing itself, as the act of doing so is a great exercise to help you learn, the problem is when you do it and claim you made it 100% on your own. Since these are sprite edits, there's not a problem in doing so.
Observe and learn what makes up the style you're trying to replicate
This is hard to talk about since it really is something that comes with practice, I've been making sprite edits for like 5 years now so this stuff is like written on the walls of my brain by now. Just try to look and analyse the sprites and slowly you'll start seeing patterns and small onto them that you didn't noitce before, like how Linuj's sprites have a bit if line weight to them but are still on the thinner side, how he tends to make the hands a bit on the smaller side, how when he color the character's skins he makes the area near the top of the head a lighter shade than the rest of the skintone, the way he usually makes the character's mouths, and even some more complex things like how the male characters will have very little to no eyelashes while the female characters tend to have a whole lot of them, etc.
At the same time, there's no shame in deliberately ignoring some of these things. Personality the small hands REALLY bother me in a few cases and i tend to just make mouth shapes on a whim instead of trying to stay 100% close to the style. It's just a question of messing around and figuring stuff out, it won't look perfect on the first go, but overtime you'll start to get the hang of it.
#i hope this small sprite editing tutorial helps! if you have more questions feel free to send them#these are sorta all i could think of for now#you did mention that these are for an Au Akane so you could also try editing these out of her sprites themselves#instead of making a whole base and multiple parts just pick the sprites and edit the new design over#it could possibly be easier for a beginner? i do feel like making them in this form leads to better results tho#anyways. fun fact! i used the eyelash thing as a subtle form or trans coding on Akira's sprites :]#i love you small details that people won't notice unless pointed out ❤️#hyena ramblings#sprite edit#edit#sprite editing tutorial

tablets are definitely pushed as mainstream & the standard for digital art these days & im also guilty of being a tablet user but to say theyre required is just a lie. u can draw whatever u want with a mouse or trackpad or some other thing its just a matter of knowing ur tools well enough to make them work for u. and ur patience.
#i have a tablet so my workflow is designed around that & making that work for me to get what i want#if u know ur art program & know what the brushes do and know how to alter them#u can get the exact same results as a tablet user#will it be harder or take longer? perhaps#but it IS possible#so i dont think anyone should be discouraged if they dont want a tablet or dont have the money for one#so much of illustration is knowing what tools do what & how to use them to get results#same with art program u do not need State Of The Art Expensive Program#what u need is to consider ur own workflow & find whatever can be set up around those needs#& from there get familiar with various brushes & functions#i still think about when someone didnt know what art program i use & praised my art#& then turned around and said krita's only good as a beginner level art program. skill issue#art is what u make of it. really. truly.

I watched that video about the hate dw gets and if its justified and i largely agree w it but then one person critiquing it said they hated glisten so thats how i knew their opinion was warped
#they had soooome good points but the one abt the starter toons man i disagree#they said the starters should be tisha cosmo and brightney?#so you could play distractor extractor or support#but i think thats even more confusing? poppy and boxten serve as a baseline for stats and gameplay#that way youre not shoehorned into a toon you dont like playing as if it turns out you really dont like extracting or support#and distractor isnt even an official role really and its also a fairly dangerous one esp for starters who barely know the mechanics#and the beginner unfriendliness isnt a flaw of game design its an issue with the players#nobody can control that. they all wanna replicate floor 100 runs and are hostile to new members#also they wanted poppy and boxtens passives to be in place for every toon like girl i think u just want a new game#theres a lot to critique but i think the set up is mostly ok tbh? its not groundbreakinf but this is dbd for 6 year olds so#also hop off glisten he is cute and funny

hit one-two combo of being extremely discouraged about my character designs and being inclined to sit around and feel terrible in my room while doing nothing
#rot.txt#the character design thing is like. i just remembered how much inspiration i took from this woman when i was a beginner artist#and i know some of those character design things SHE uses a lot stuck around in my art#and then i remember that people have told me my art reminds them of hers#and then i get worried im falling into the same design pitfalls she did#and them im scared all my character designs suck shit and ass#and then i dont want to draw. hey guys what if instead of doing something that makes me happy i just sat in my room not thinking about this#its getting late i think i need to go to bed early. if i do that maybe my pokemon will love me#im also frustrated with myself for sleeping so late so often it not only sets me back in pokemon sleep but also just makes me miserable#its been a very social day maybe thats why im feeling like ass#and ive eaten like nothing today good god how am i not hungry

I think I've said before that what I think is most important in character design is that they're functional-
They're your first impression to a character, so they need to convey information about the character they're representing. Whether that's their personality, their profession, or even what image they want to present to the world.
Sometimes a design is the whole truth about a character and other times its a complete lie. The most important thing to remember is the way someone presents themselves is something that requires intentionality.
It doesn't matter to me if a design is ugly if it tells me what it needs to, but a design that's devoid of personality or overcomplicated to the point of being unreadable that's when it'll start bothering me.
#a design being “ugly” is personal taste so it changes from person to person#but so does a design being pretty#and I don't think a design can skate by on being pretty alone if its devoid of intention or personality#sorry- this is a layover from the beginner artists post from yesterday#and this isn't accounting for more complicated parts of designing a character but this is what I consider a baseline#a style can be not to my taste but if it gives me the info I need thats enough to be considered a successful design to me#yappin'

Love love love watching Pearl, Etho, and Tango talk game balancing and rule clarification. Pearl sees games as a skill to master, and her perspective is concentrated towards what feels both achievable and fair, throughout a journey from beginner to pro. Etho sees games as a puzzle to solve, a system to optimise, and his concerns about game balancing focus on where the loopholes are or what could be exploited in a way that produces skewed results. Tango's role is creating and running a game that is engaging, so he curtails pure 'game design' suggestions by asking if something is going to be fun, for the players of all levels and the viewers, too. In conversations between them, the points they raise are how they show their personal investment in their game and its players. I think that's neat
#massive i am oversimplifying disclaimer#i see people saying they feel bad for tango and sure its hard but its also all love#hes done months on months of game design with his chat hes used to it its how he works#pearl#etho#tango#hermitcraft#pearlescentmoon#ethoslab#tangotek

THE SUN'S JUST STRETCHING OVER the horizon when you slide the storage shed open, sand already warm beneath your feet. early mornings are your favorite. it’s before the tourists clog the water and you’re alone with peace and quiet. just you, the salt breeze, and the steady rhythm of waves crashing in the distance.
you wax your board with muscle memory, watching the shoreline roll in and out. you’ve got a full schedule today — mostly beginners, mostly foreigners who think they’ll master surfing in one lesson because they did yoga twice. you’ve got patience, though.
you’re flipping through the day’s roster when you hear it. laughter, loud and glittery, cutting through the morning silence. then, the unmistakable click of designer sandals on wooden planks.
you look over.
she’s got long legs and longer hair, dark and somehow untouched by the wind. she’s in a bikini that probably cost more than your entire paycheck for this week, designer sunglasses, and a cover up that flows like she’s modeling for a victoria's secret ad.
you glance back down at your clipboard and one name stands out.
sophia.
no last name. no equipment rented. notes: “never surfed, very excited.”
“hi. i’m here for my surf lesson?” she says with effortless charm.
you nod once, pen tapping the paper. “never surfed before?”
“not even once. but i’ve been told i have incredible balance. pilates, y’know?” she beams.
you don’t, actually. but you gesture to the board propped nearby anyway. “grab that one. we’ll start on the sand.”
she eyes it like it might bite her. “that one?”
“that one.”
you don’t offer to carry it and she doesn’t ask. she manages, barely, dragging it over with a slight pout and some quiet struggles. you wait.
“okay. we’re gonna start with the basics.” you say once she’s kneeling beside it awkwardly.
“i love basics.” she says, flashing you a smile that’s probably made hundreds of people fold.
you kneel beside her and demonstrate hand placement, how to pop up, foot position. she nods slow and serious like she’s listening. she isn’t.
when you ask her to try, she steps onto the board and sticks her ass up like she’s arching her back for someone. you squint at her.
“that’s not what i showed you.”
“it’s what you should’ve shown me. ten times more flattering.” she says, glancing over her shoulder.
you don’t smile, but your eyes linger a little longer than they should before you stand.
“let’s get in the water.”
the ocean is calm which is perfect for beginners. still, she eats it on the first wave. and the second. and the third. she’s not even trying to stand by the fourth, just floating there, kicking lazily like she’s tanning.
you paddle over.
“you’re not standing.”
she tilts her head, looking at you through her wet lashes. “maybe i like the view better down here.”
you raise an eyebrow. “what, the seaweed?”
“no. you.” she says, flashing that smug little grin.
you pause.
then you shift your stance slightly, water coming up at your waist as you lean one forearm onto her board. not flustered, but close enough that her teasing falters for half a second.
“you know, most people at least pretend they want to learn before trying to flirt with their instructor.” you murmur dryly.
her smile widens. “but you’re smiling.”
“am i?”
“mhm. right there. barely. but it’s cute.” she pokes your shoulder.
you hum under your breath and shift back to steady her board.
“alright, flirt later. try to stand now.”
she lets out a dramatic sigh. “fine. but only because you asked nicely.”
“i didn’t.” you deadpan.
she smiles again and props herself up like she’s about to finally try — before looking back at you with a wink. “don’t forget to hold my waist.”
you do.
only to adjust her form.
mostly.
and when she falls again, splashing and laughing, you’re the one who reaches out, palm steady under her elbow.
you realize as she flops dramatically back onto her board that this girl is either going to quit in thirty minutes… or book another lesson just to keep flirting with you.
you’re betting on the latter.
