So... 2024.

- Barney C.

- Learned some Blender basics

- Went back to Seattle and ECCC

- conceived and oversaw installation of massive new interactive exhibit at work

- conceived, designed, and produced massive temporary centennial display at work

- scored a Marriott room first try for D*Con 2025

- interviewed for and got senior curatorial position at work

- lost one of the horses to a terrible bout of colic

- lived in a cabin on an island for three days

- lost my new (very cool) boss five days ago in a climbing accident (still processing that one)

- met some of THE coolest possible people at D*Con this year

- half-assed a Blue Shift!Barney cosplay

- printed and built a whole-ass AR2

- rescued a very fresh calf that had spent the night in the ditch outside the barbwire fence

- acquired a resin printer and learned how to print 3D stuff in resin

- learned basic electronics for cosplay bullshit

- Barney's Civil Protection helmet

- got marginally better at running

- took lots of naps with the cats

- climbed one (1) mountain with @veradune

Not sure why I started butterflies with the Nymphalidae which easily have the most complex wing patterns when I could have started with the sulphurs or blues and had a much easier time lol. But they are really satisfying to make and I hope you're enjoying them!

Premise for a fictional movie:

This is a standalone Alien spin-off. Set in Egypt during the 1920s, a team of archaeologists, treasure hunters, and explorers discover the long-lost tomb of Alexander the Great. Unfortunately for them, while exploring the tomb, an accident occurs that leads to the entire party being trapped inside.

To make matters worse, the group discovers this bizarre structure that the tomb was built over. Unbeknownst to them, the structure is an Engineer ship that crash landed on Earth centuries ago. And the Xenomorph eggs are still active…

Current body count:

1) The British lady financing the trip (played by Imelda Staunton) is the 1st character to die. She got too close to an egg and ended up getting Facehugger-ed.

2) The archaeologist couple, husband (played by Kit Harington) is the 2nd character to die. A Xenomorph wakes up from hibernation and kills him, along with the next character.

3) The American treasure hunter (played by Michael Cudlitz) is the 3rd character to die. A Xenomorph wakes up from hibernation and kills him, along with the previous character.

4) The scholar and secret lover of the archaeologist wife (played by Dev Patel) is the 4th character to die. He is killed by the Xenomorph that emerged from the British lady.

5) The Egyptologist and head of the expedition (played by Willem Dafoe) is the 5th character to die. During the last stand, he dies from acid blood after shooting a Xenomorph that snuck up behind him.
