Hey, I did previously mention an AU where Viktor gets taken in by Benzo and acts as a big brother to Ekko and later becomes one of the Firelights did I? He doesn't go to the academy either and meets Jayce under different circumstances too (The bridge battle specifically and yeah that'll be rewritten somewhat in a way that Jayce tries to participate or oversees things at first before being forced to intervene himself as he's part of the council by this point). I guess he also awakens as a mage this time without Hexcore interference too? I haven't fully figured it out yet admittedly. ^^;
Just enjoy the edit anyhow! ^_^

So this is admittedly coming from me using my engineering paper to do art studies (which actually has been very helpful for proportion consistency and understanding why something looks off to me)
But I agree that Gideon is actually a fairly decent artist who has whatever the equivalent of an engineering notebook in Avantris is, full of drawings, blueprints, and schematics.
While most of these are of equipment, rides, and gadgets he's either seen or been wanting to make if he ever had the resources for them there are some of people and creatures that catch his eye.
Now, these drawings tend to be very technical just basically replicating exactly what he sees down to fine details. They're not gonna be hung up in museums or aiming to express some deep, symbolic meaning.
They're are as direct and to the point as the man holding the pen drafting them. More akin to biological illustrations or engineering drawings. Little distinction between drawing a person to drawing a machine.
It can come off quite cold, actually. Maybe even unnerving to see yourself dissected and pulled apart into components.
It's why Gideon doesn't consider himself much of an artist. To him, this isn't art. If anything, it's closer to copying or tracing in his mind.
Initially, when Kremy finally got to see these drawings, he was a little disappointed with how stiff and clinical they all looked. He particularly didn't know how to feel about all the ones of him from angles he personally found unflattering or the ones that were side by side comparisons to wild alligators.
And maybe perhaps previous romantic notions of a hidden page of him rendered with soft strokes and reverent shades of charcoal were quickly erased, but at least Gid got his snout shape correct.
It does ease his mind at least that the rest of the crew gets the same treatment. Sure, there are still more pages of him than anyone else, but Kremy boils it down as a product of near constant proximity than one of muse. Otherwise, his interest in the notebook fades. The illustrations are still impressive within their own right, and he makes sure to tell Gid that whenever he finds him angrily ripping out a page that he's spent almost an hour over correcting dimensions on.
It really isn't until he finds a page on Torbek that wasn't there before that Kremy starts to pay it any mind. There's nothing particularly special about Torbek's page. It's the same clinical breakdown of his physiology and of his attire.
But it's there now when it wasn't there before in all the time they've known Torbek prior to the Faewild. Then, another page appears with Twig and all her little details pinned to the paper.
That's when it finally occurs to Kremy. Gideon, a man who prides himself in living to the fullest. Never slowing down as he races from one moment to the next. Is taking the time to notice and jot them down to memory.
These are not quick, sweeping scratches of lead. But meticulously measured lines calculated to take on the form of their visage. Every flaw, every nick, every piece that comes together to make them a whole, living mechanism perfectly replicated and accounted for.
There are no vibrant hues or eye-catching gestures that make one feel like they were sculpted from silk, but there is beauty in the exact distance between your eyes.
And if Kremy instinctively begins to still at the sight of a ruler taking his measurements from a distance, to afford time to a man who's only ever had it taken from him well that's between him and the good Baron.

And yong loves the new cool nickname a lot <3

Having Mr D thoughts.
What if he's like. Extra Bitter about his punishment because:
1) These modern demigods have it so easy, with Camp and Thalia's barrier and the Mist and the monsters' reduced powers and on and on with all of the world's developments
Like, yes, this batch in particular got impossibly unlucky, with two wars and the Triumvirate's bullshit happening in the span of not even a decade, but they still get to go to school. Sure, there's always a monster here or there, but that's nothing in light of having a home where they feel safe and not having to constantly travel because if just one monster finds where you're staying, you're doomed so you have to leave immediately. And the monsters are weaker now, too, because people don't remember and believe in them in the same capacity as back in ye' old days!
And there's always something around, some building or bus or whatnot the demigods can use to their advantage, rather than being stranded on a mountain or in the middle of a forest. They don't even have to hunt, or go hungry for months at a time, because there's food everywhere — sure, there's demigods Fated for some dumpster diving and nights in sewers, but that's a minority.
And the humans around them are better, too! Child protection and the legal system are far from perfect, but for the most part, people won't turn a blind eye to you being tied up and kidnapped, or beaten into a pulp in the middle of the street for stealing.
(Your mother won't be convinced to disintegrate with you in her womb)
(You won't be confused about your very being during your childhood because you must hide from your stepmother, your identity unimportant in face of fear)
(Your aunt and uncle won't be driven to insanity and murder with no repercussions)
(You won't be hunted down since before you were even born)
But also
2) It still isn't easy, and they're still living in pain and dying young, and can the gods (him included) really not do anything about that?
The other gods don't get children in the way he does; they see extensions of themselves, weapons, people ready to take up arms in their name. But Dionysus once gnawed on fabric dolls and wooden teethers just the same as these new demigods, and though it's been millennia, growing up with death on every step leaves a lasting mark — especially when he has found kin in his wife about it.
So he knows: the eight-year-old girl is not stupid, immature, or cowardly for crying upon the first stains on her sword; the eleven-year-old boy is not defective because of a burst of random emotion; the fifteen-year-old girl is not foolish for clinging to her toys whenever she can; the sixteen-year-old boy is not weak for getting hurt and not remaining stoic about it.
He was like that once upon a time, too, and is the point not for it to get easier? Has it really not yet been enough time for it to be easy?

and another rough character design ! it's my bedtime i'm so sleepy so i hope to refine this more in the morning but here's one of the other characters , she is an immortal with Alternate Universe Accessing Powers , older sister of our protagonist immortal guy with the Time Warping Powers . she's not present in the story that much because the whole point is that the siblings had a fight and she sealed herself away in a chrysalis (don't worry about it) and now the brother is trying to reunite with her etc. etc. i'll explain more later once i design all the characters

Here's another Veilguard Critique:
I wish there were more opportunities for approval/disapproval, but not in the sense of like "I want to be rude to my companions!"
I like approval/disapproval systems in the sense that they're an additional level of character-building. I think this is something BG3 did very well- small actions, dialogue options, and ways you interact with the world (even when not plot-relevant) trigger minor amounts of approval/disapproval, which very much informed you of the type of people your companions are and what they value.
It doesn't always land- for example, in DAO, Morrigan disapproves if you reject the Tevinter magister's deal to use blood magic to empower you at the cost of the elven slaves he's captured. When you're playing a Tabris Warden, that disapproval strikes a very odd chord because it makes it feel like Morrigan is disapproving of you literally saving your friends, neighbors and FATHER over empowering yourself. Given her line of dialogue beforehand, it's clear she thinks it's interesting from a magical perspective and we know blood magic isn't like. Inherently evil? But the disapproval still feels extra off-putting in that situation.
That's one of the approve/disapprove system shortcomings- it can't always take into account the nuances of player character decisions/backstory and how each player roleplays their MC. This is one of the reasons I think BG3 manages ok- the MASSIVE amount of choices gives it many opportunities to come up, which I think allows for more space for nuance because of the sheer variety of things people are reacting to.
And this is something that I wish Veilguard had a little more of. Not in the same sense as BG3- I don't need my companions having an opinion on every minor decision I make ALL the time or anything- but like. The only thing I can think of off the top of my head that's a major chance for companion disapproval is how you decide to deal with the First Warden. I've run into a few small dialogue options that trigger disapproval (one where you joke about Lucanis during the funeral arrangements with Teia, and one in the Taash-Emmrich squabble) but otherwise there's not a lot in there.
I get why the game is the way that it is- it's a hard line to walk with "are there consequences for too much disapproval" and "we need all of the companions to trust Rook as a leader in order for the story to work" and I think they did the best that they could.
It's not a "the game is overly positive" problem for me so much as it is I wish we got a little more insight into what the companions like and dislike with it. It's an extra dimension of character building that I'm not sure the game utilized to its fullest.

Just realized that the first person to know Kurapika was going to have a baby would be Melody. Poor Melody, having to keep quiet until Kurapika and Leorio found out for themselves XD

tried watching the ml london special but MAN does this show continue to give me such conflicting feelings
because like...if i ever found out my girlfriend lied to me that my dad hadnt been akumatizing people and recklessly played around with peoples lives - including mine - to get my mom back, and severely emotionally neglected me during all that time and had instead been some martyr who defeated the big bad to save the world (instead of BEING the one who needed to be defeated) i would never be able to forgive her no matter her kind intentions
im not even trying to blame marinette here because holy fuck what would you DO if you were in her situation?? but it definitely sours their romance for me
ill wait and see until more episodes air, maybe ill change my mind, who knows? but for now i dont feel...great... about it
