The first Dune book is so narratively tight it makes me feel like I’m missing something with Dr. Yueh. First off, the Suk conditioning that’s supposed to make him incapable of harming the Atredies is introduced in the same breath that the Baron says Pieter has found a way to break it. Feyd-Rautha goes ‘Woah, no way, that’s impossible!’ to let us know this is impressive, but still, we are given zero time to consider Suk conditioning outside of a time where it’s not working. This is the Worf effect to the extreme. This is like if the first time Michael Douglas walks on camera Wesley Crusher beats him up for his lunch money. If you call that guy an unstoppable security officer, immediately inverting that is gonna seem like it’s a punchline. 

That’s not even the worst part. We’re told that it was the sick genius of the twisted mentat Pieter DeVries that managed to outwit the Suk conditioning. The thing is, instead of going the Lovecraft route and leaving the reader to imagine what horrors the Harkonnens are capable of, we’re told exactly how it was done. Any time Yueh is in the room he’s thinking about how much he doesn’t want to betray anybody, but the Harkonnens have his beloved Wanna and he really has no choice.

So in the thousands of years the Suk school has had this reputation, never before has there been a mastermind so devious and sick as to put a loved one under duress. That really makes it seems like the kids gloves are on for all this espionage and intrigue. Yeah, the Harkonnens will brick a dude into a wall to pilot a little stabby drone into your teenage son’s nervous system, but they need to bring in a guy with a doctorate in Fucked Up Shit before they can puzzle out extortion. 

Maybe I’m giving too much credit to Herbert here, but this just feels like such weirdly out of place sloppy writing I feel like I’m in the wrong here. Like maybe he’d just written himself into a corner needing a traitor when Paul and Jessica have preternatural truth-sight. If I’m being generous, Yueh is maybe a foil for Dr. Kynes, another scientist with a complicated relationship with loyalty, but I’m reaching there. I am half hoping there’s some sort of secret lore on this, because honestly I feel like I would be rolling my eyes less if this was some sort of secret Bene Gesserit conspiracy than how much I’m rolling them taking this at face value.

i'm spamming a bit but what a great race. 8/10 teams in the top 10 (now 7 with lando's penalty) good ferrari strategy, ALEXANDER ALBON, hamilton and alonso kind of fighting, the drs train, kev mag and devries fighting for their lives, max laughing at almost breaking his car, alexander albon, ocon's rear wing belly dancing, george kissing the wall and blaming the wall, alexander albon, lando absolutely crushing it in overtaking and alexander albon.

Honestly as a Max fan, there is nothing to talk about. He is insane. Pitting at the last laps to get fastest lap for the vibes is just way to mean to others. The way he pits because hw wanted to, he comes out, charles is literally behind him, he waves the car to get heat on them in front of him, slows down at the line like its a damn quali, starts his lap, takes the fastest lap and makes a 5 sec gap, wins, leaves. Zero mistake, he is just driving on pure vibes. Cant wait to see him race when he leaves f1 and actually go to do wec because 71 laps is just NOTHING to him.

Sainz was absolute monster destroying Charles for the whole weekend. But at the end Ferrari made the right choice to not swap drivers because Carlos got a penalty, actually very smart of ferrari. Good job.

No words for Perez once again. How can you be so ass. Truly a car merchant, at least use it well. Everytime he drives I keep thinking that Max would win from his position. Battling with Sainz was embarrassing. He kept giving him the DRS and couldn't make the move. The fuck? Commentators couldn't have enough of making fun of him and tbh deserved. Max needs to teach him how it works because I'm sure everyone was...I wonder if his engineer told him, because when pundits asked Christian about it he converted the talk to praise Max instead. LOL. He needs to go, wasting that seat.

I dont know what Lewis fans expected from this weekend. The fact that Austria was never his good track, did he even have a win here before? Anyways, his radio was funny. Toto had to do him that dirty and I enjoyed that. His fans need to see who is the real enemy here. Wake up call you guys!

Lando was pure vibes as well, good job to him. I wish Perass got a pen so he would get a podium somehow. He really is good around this track and cant tell if their upgrades are working because of to that.

I won't even talk about other midfield and backmarkers. Devries has to go. Ocon is onto some weird shit with track limits. Aston Martin bottled their pit strategy but won due to track limits, they are serious at least.

Kloktober 2023, Day 12: Favorite Villain: Brendan Small sounds exasperated at Dr. Rockso's continued appeal to Metalocalypse fans in the post-AotD special Dethklok edition of Revolver Magazine. I wish I could be part of the solution rather than the problem, but I start giggling as soon as the 'K-k-k-k' starts up and keep going straight through his exaggerated walk and falsetto voice and the reactions of utter disgust that everyone in-universe besides Toki has every time he crashes a party. In spite of all that, I appreciate Dr. Rockso's various attempts at sobriety / harm reduction / going to DeVry, learning to be an IT Tech, getting his sh!t together, baby!

ROUND 3 - AUS GRAND PRIX

the Australian Grand Prix was dramatic and deffo a race to remember! On first corner we had Leclerc out, after a collision with Stroll. Which as a ferrari fan, i was not very happy and screamed at my lovely tv:,) But after that Hamilton got a much better start than Verstappen but in first DRS-zone the sucsesful Redbull driver opened DRS and quickly flew past Hamilton, but the sadness from Mercedes dosent stop, a couple laps after hamilton got overtaken George Russel went out due to a engine faliure which led to the car being in small flames right before the pit entry. With Verstappen P1, Hamilton P2 with a good gap to Alonso in P3, Carlos Smooth Operator Sainz had to fight with Pierre Gasly for a Top 3 result. But not soon after we got one of the safety cars & many red flags of the evening, where Kevin Magnussen drove into turn to and lost his right rear tyre, and spread debris everywhere. Then not soon after we had a race-restart where there was A LOT of drama about Carlos drove a little into Fernando Alonso. Then a few seconds after we saw the to french men crashing into eachother while Pierre Gasly and Esteban Ocon was out of the race imitedly, but then again again we had some drama and that wass when Logan Sargent got into the back of Nyck DeVries car which also had an effect on Sergio Perez!

A LOT happened this race and i probs missed a lot in this post but i hope it made a little sense, and sorry for not posting ive had exams and been in the hospital so i will just write a couple post now!! Good day/Night and please like or follow if you enjoyed it just a little bit!!
