I can't get over how good the drawfee vaprideity hour was. I watched it live, and then watched the vod on twitch again. it really felt like such a community-centered fundraising campaign, both because of how many community members/friends of drawf contributed to it, and also the overall theming as a community broadcast TV network. like all the sketches and music aggh it really reminded me of the community TV channels I watched as a kid. idk it just felt really nice And was really entertaining. but also holy shit the logistics of getting all of that together and all the different assets as well as running the show live.... literally #kabonacarry I hope she is able to rest and take a break!!! I feel like I'd enjoy parsing out a further dissection of it as well, especially since now "youtube channel charity stream" is like a Genre, so within that context, idk it's a really interesting niche. but I think the vaprideity hour was an example of the best of this niche: authentically celebrating community while raising funds. also damn they raised so much money I really thought it wasn't going to go over 100k cause the economy is SO bad but 170k is unbelievable. feels nice. idk if this is coherent I'm still on pain meds from surgery. but i wanna practice more critical writing cause I miss it. so this is like a placeholder post for future thoughtful analysis.

This is a part of my "bad ending" AU- called "Warmth of Another". I haven't finished the wiki page for it lmfao The basic gist, for those of you who don't know: it's an AU where Doc and Prometheus meet much sooner than the main story, so, when Prometheus dies, it shatters Doc even worse than my canon story. Doc's killing spree ends up being a fuck ton worse (completely drawfing the canon storyline's 50,000+ people in around 60~ish years). It stunts humanity enough that Armstrong's canon host event doesn't happen- humans aren't in space. This allows Armstrong and Tesla to meet long before coming to Earth. Yes, I do ship them together- why do you ask lmfao

Primal Tesla is about 4 ft (about 1.2 m) tall, and Primal Armstrong 14 ft (4.3 meters) tall- hence Tesla looking so tiny compared to Army lmao

I'm A Good Pretender - Chapter 2: I Got Lots Of Problems

My last post was an excerpt from the first chapter of this fic. I've finished it now and I like most of it, but there's something in Chapter 2 that I just have to talk about. This whole fic is a Robin origin story. It has seven chapters, so it drawfs in comparison to the 'Firework' fic by paganpunk2 on fanfiction.net (I posted about that too, maybe my favorite fanfic ever). Still, I really like it. It's written with excerpts from days. It starts with day zero, where Dick's parents are killed and Bruce comforts him. Day one is him meeting Alfred at the orphanage, and it goes all the way to day 262, where Commissioner Gordon meets Robin.

Anyway, in this particular excerpt, Dick is scheming to sneak out of Wayne Manor and kill Tony Zucco himself, and has to guilt trip Bruce in order to be alone long enough to escape even though he feels bad about it. He likes Bruce, but he isn't quite a father figure to him, yet. Dick has inherited Bruce's old bedroom, something very sentimental to Bruce. The excerpt starts with Bruce giving a tour of his old room. Bruce also gave Dick a note, saying to ring the service bell when he wakes up. He does, and it calls Bruce to his room. Dick keeps the note in his pocket. Also, a slight trigger warning for mentions of sexual abuse against a child.

So Bruce awkwardly shows Dick around the cavernous bedroom. The dresser is full of generic clothes in his size and Bruce promises they can get his stuff from their trailer later today and go shopping soon for anything he's missing. He shows him how to work the computer at the desk and the TV on the wall, and even points towards the staff lift at the end of the hallway that will take him directly to the kitchen. The bathroom is in the bedroom and almost as huge, with a sink and toilet and a big shower/bathtub combo already filled with a bunch of different soaps.

"I wasn't sure what you'd need," Bruce mumbles when Dick comments on the variety. "We have different hair types."

That's…surprisingly thoughtful, Dick thinks, and Bruce's folded note feels like it's burning a hole in his pocket.

He ignores the guilt and smiles. "Thanks, Bruce. I appreciate it."

"I want you to be comfortable here," Bruce whispers back, even quieter than normal.

Dick pushes the guilt down, down, down. Now is as good a time as any and Bruce is already uncomfortable. Now if Dick can just get him to leave…

(Never talk about sex, Mama always says, grown ups hate when kids even mention sex.)

"What about rules?" Dick asks, pitching his voice a little higher and widening his already big eyes just a little bit bigger. "One of the older boys at the detention center said rich people only foster kids to warm their beds. I don't know what that means, but I'll try, if you teach me."

And bingo.

Bruce's pale skin goes practically gray and he flinches back until he's outside of the bathroom. "That- No, I- You won't ever-"

"Did I say something wrong?" Dick asks, adding in a small sniffle and not letting up on the eye contact. (He's already learned that Bruce Wayne hates eye contact.)

The man is still backpedaling, now well to the hallway. "No! No. I'll… see you at breakfast." When he steps out of the room, his shoulders sag. "Kitchen. Eight." And then he's gone, latching the door shut behind him.

Dick sighs and flops against the bed. That was almost too easy. He feels… kinda bad.

Still. Eight o’clock. That's just over three hours, according to the clock on the wall.

"Alright," he mumbles to himself and carefully rocks to his feet. "Like Mama says, make a list."

So, he does.

Stretch my poor, atrophying muscles

Catch and murder Tony Zucco

Run away to (re)join the circus 

There, that doesn't seem hard now that he's made a list- Mama's always right.

Something about "I don't know what that means, but I'll try if you teach me," is literally so well written. Obviously, gross, but Dick using something that makes Bruce obviously uncomfortable to his advantage against Bruce is so Dick coded. Dick absolutely knew what it meant and purposefully used it to horrify Bruce. Guilt tripping Bruce Wayne is so easy, as long as you're Dick Grayson. He's a little gremlin and I love it. Also, the list he makes is adorable, literally went from zero to a hundred real quick.

what is a good place to start?

YESSSS join me. now there is Tons and tons of discworld and I haven't read even half of it. they tend to go in series of a few books that have the same characters but they are all kind of stand alone too! All reading guides I can find look very confusing but my recommendation is:

Start with "Guards! Guards!" it's the first book of the watchmen series and it is sort of a parody on police procedurals/detective stories but in a fantasy city. If you like it you can follow this guide here (If you get to feet of clay. there is transgender allegory drawfs there. to entice you further.)

I haven't read any other series yet! but if detective stories aren't really ur thing (tho Guards! Guards! is really very funny and I think even people who don't like detective stories could like it XD) I'd start with the witches arc with "Equal Rites" which I've also heard very good things about! and follow this:

Autumn Hawke and Anders kids

So, I have been plotting out Autumn Hawkes post DA2 life. Mainly because I wanted to give her and Anders kids

I thought it would be interesting to make their kids a sort of almost echo of the Hawke siblings, so... after the evidents of DA2 they have their first son - which means that when Autumn goes to help the inquisition she leaves a kid at home with Anders. Once she gets back from that little adventure they learn that she's pregnant again, this time with twins.

Autumn and Anders kids: 

Eldest Child: Storm

Gender: Male  

Appearance: Strawberry blonde hair, green eyes, fair skin.  

Class: Mage, but trained to use dual daggers for close combat.  

Storm displays an exceptional aptitude for elemental magic, particularly lightning. However, Autumn also insists on teaching him to use dual daggers.

He is calm, protective, and often acts as a mediator among his siblings. However, as he gets older he develops a rebellious streak.

Twin A: Rowan

Gender: Male  

Appearance: Dark blonde hair, blue eyes, fair skin.  

Class: Rogue  

Rowan takes after his mother, inheriting her quick reflexes, quick wit, and pragmatic approach to life.

Rowan has a strong sense of loyalty to his siblings and parents, though he tends to be more skeptical and cautious than the others. He is the most grounded of the three, preferring a practical solution over idealistic dreams.

However, he also enjoys teasing Storm about the fact that despite being younger he's taller. In fact people often assume that Rowan is the oldest and that Storma nd Holly are the twins.

Twin B: Holly

Gender: Female  

Appearance: Golden blonde hair, amber eyes, fair skin.  

Class: Mage, with additional training in hand-to-hand combat.  Her staff has a small blade at one end, and she has been trained to wield it as a quarterstaff - a skill Anders learnt during his time with the ardens.

Holly is fiery and empathetic. Her magical abilities lean heavily toward healing, buffs and defensive spells. However, her parents ensure she is also capable of protecting herself physically, teaching her hand-to-hand combat.

Holly is deeply compassionate, always striving to help those in need, but she is also fiercely protective of her family.

Her personality is a balance of passion and discipline, making her a natural leader despite being the youngest of the three.

Veilguard mentioned below the cut - though I don't think there's any spoilers just a couple of screenshots of the adult Storm as he (after some timeline fiddling) is my new rook.

I've had to seriously mess with the timeline for this part. Veilguard now occurs a fair few years later than in connon...

Storm is a grey warden - much to Anders irritation initially. But they had no real choice.

In a story that very much echoes the start of DA2 and the deeproads expedition, as teeengaers the three siblings find themselves in a situation where they are attacked by darkspawn. Holly is very nearly killed but Storm saves her and in the process becomes infected.

Luckily his both his father and Aunt (Bethany) are grey wardens so it is not too difficult to find a group and get him through the joining. Unfortunately he is not exactly the most well behaved of recruits - it's not until after he leaves home and joins the Grey Wardens that it becomes obvious that he's inherited Anders rebeliousness.

Storm always got on extremely well with 'uncle' Varric whenever the drawf visited - something that's happened less and less over the years but the letters were always regular - so when Varric needed someone to help with the whole stopping solas thing Storm jumped to volunteer.
