Chapter 3 - The Belle of the Ball

TIt's Stella's time to shine: a Princess Ball happens only once in a lifetime! Little did she know someone would try to steal her sparkle and cloud such a happy day

"exactly. it's good work gossip fodder to discuss - especially since it seems like we pretty much all have quite a few disastrous dates." ellis chuckled, liking the other's point of view on things. selene didn't seem overly sentimental about things, but optimistic enough for her to enjoy having a conversation and share. and ellis had to admit that she liked the way they were so sure of themselves, leading the way and the conversation. chuckling, her eyes narrowed as she mentally went through her different trips - not that there'd been too many. "it's probably not too original but i did go to mauritius just before residency with a few friends from med school and it was amazing. we did a five hour trek through the mountains and ended at a waterfall we could five from. i've never felt so relaxed and .. free." she was rambling and hope that the other didn't mind. looking around as they entered a very chich lobby, she turned to selene. "what about you? i'm sure you've visited some incredible places."

"Oh of course! There's nothing better than hearing a disaster date story that has a happy ending surprisingly attached to it. I wouldn't say I'm a particularly positive person but I do think it's important to try and look on the bright side in situations like that. Being maudlin doesn't help you." They explained. If only their brother would take the advice. Hands held, Selene led Ellis back to their home, the bar Selene had found her in surprisingly close. They kept up a simple but pleasant conversation as they walked. Selene was itching to know more about Ellis, from her favorite color to how sensitive her neck was. "So where's the best place you've ever been on vacation? What was the coolest thing you did there? I'm very curious about you." Selene asked as they approached a high rise. Walking through the quiet and elegant lobby, Selene swiped a key for the elevator.

i think it's a little peculiar but also funny that petetronic just isn't in the em2 paint ending with the other petes. did they fr just leave bro out of their evil plans? did the paint get to him? we will never know

Going back to my love for cartoons for a bit here: random idea/ramble regarding Ortensia and sort of epic Mickey as a whole.

In Epic Mickey there's of course the drama regarding the heart and fame, yadda yadda you get it. Now of course Oswald was never truly forgotten however they still use the term forgotten because truth be told he didn't really have any fans before Epic Mickey. Like sure people knew of him, of course they did, he's a big part of animation history and his loss lead to Ub and Walt making Mickey Mouse. The reason why he was labelled as "forgotten" despite never truly being forgotten is actually brought up in the EM comics tales of wasteland comics

It's acknowledged people DO remember him but because Oswald has very little actual character in the classic shorts he was reduced to nothing more than "the first Disney Mascot!" (Julius was a side character in the Alice Comedies he does not count, shush) but back to what I was saying: this actually does a good job explaining that Wastelands' label of being "forgotten" is sort of loose and means just they don't have any actual fans because before Epic Mickey Oswald truly didn't have any fans, what was there to be a fan of? I thought of this recently because it brings up an interesting dilemma with characters in the EM universe. Like this is getting meta here but logically because of EM's existence Oswald does have proper fans now, he would logically be out of wasteland and he would have a heart. Wanna know who wouldn't though? Ortensia and the bunny kids

Like considering we never got an EM 3 with a playable Ortensia which would probably have her story actually give her some character and depth she is still kinda forgotten? Like yeah we do have bits and pieces of what she's like but sadly nothing really in depth? Like yes, she does have fans and she's certainly not forgotten but compared to Oswald who has depth she never got proper screentime to shine. Setting aside headcanons and fan made media, what do we have of Ortensia? We have comics from Tales of Wasteland, we have the one Christmas comic, and of course the knowledge of her status in EM as the queen of Wasteland implying she is married to Oswald. Comparing her to Oswald once more she has basically nothing of substantial character other than "she's Oswald's wife who is sweet but also logical", we don't see much outside of that and it's disappointing, same goes for the bunny kids who we have literally nothing of. We know of them, we know there's a singular daughter amongst the 419 boys, that's about it.

Anyways I thought of this in the first place because there's probably a very tragic truth that while Oswald would now be able to leave wasteland his wife and kids wouldn't. They're still stuck there being forgotten because we, the audience, have nothing really to be fans of other than shallow details of who they are. There's very little separating Ortensia from her appearance in the classic shorts which once again—holy fuck I'm sad we didn't get an EM3 the concept art of her is awesome. But ya know with that being said this sort of dynamic with Oswald now having a heart makes for the very sweet idea that he is now capable of leaving wasteland, but he doesn't. I imagine Oswald wouldn't, he wouldn't abandon his friends or family and currently continues to reside as a ruler choosing to use his ability to travel to and fro purely to help the denizens of wasteland. He remembers where he came from and he knows where his family is and wouldn't want to have it any other way.

(also the little prick has his imagery plastered everywhere, despite having a heart you cannot tell me he would choose to live in toon town where other toons probably don't care about him, he loves to be the center of attention lmao)

How did I miss last night's update ughhh , I screamed when I saw that you released the first chapter of em3 !!! And let me tell you , you did not disappoint , I love the way you showed the friendship between all the girls I love how you show the friendship between Stella and aisha and tecna because we don't see much of it in the show , but like it's the first chapter and radius and luna are already fighting they can't let poor stella breathe even before her princess ball and I love luna but no matter your problems with your ex that is not a reason to disregard one of the biggest days of your daughter's life especially not when her friends , boyfriend and entire kingdom are going to be present and ask why you are not here with your daughter on this big day . Chimera is such a liar and a hypocrite what do you mean "I did not engage" ???? , you call stealing her pizza , fighting with her over a dress not engaging !!?? but frankly her mother is worse than her , how dare you traumatize me like that!!! I had the biggest jumpscare of my life "Cassandra had been extra generous with Radius that night" when I tell you I gasped , I screamed my jaw was on the floor , that woman looks like a mummy from ancient Egypt,looking at her makes me wanna vomit 🤮, how can you go from luna to THAT the downgrade , on another note I wonder just how and when they met valtor ? since in the show they met valtor right before stella's ball .

Anyway that chapter was fire and I can't wait to see what what you have in store next.

I love exploring the different dynamics the girls have built. they are all so different it's a challenge every time!

Radius and Luna can be worse than toddlers fighting over toys when they want to be. Will Luna attend the ball? Only time will tell.

Chimera is the worst, but she didn't lie. I decided to ignore that whole part with the pizza and the clothes because I didn't really like it, so they will meet for the first time at the ball. (Poor Stella)

CASSANDRA IS THE WORST. No redemption arc for her. Not from me.

next chapter starts with a (FOUR PAGES) flashback that will tell you all about Cassandra/Radius/Chimera/Valtor

I finally did it.

I finally finished.

I had now finished Epic Mickey Rebrushed on my Switch.

I must say, I've been begging to play Epic Mickey for years now, and Rebrushed did live up to the hype. The game was pretty good, and I might replay it for the Thinner route, since I mostly did the Paint one.

Now, I hope for an EM2 Rebrushed and an EM3, and I'm good.

But for now, I must venture back into Hyrule, and finish all the Zelda games I have in my Switch library.
