Wip Wednesday!

With this, I'm almost done with the Christmas gifts! Though I will admit I really like how this came out and I lowkey wish I could keep it for myself lmao.

Anyway the pattern is Homespun Easy Triangle Shawl by Lion Brand Yarn but I'm a lawless being so the material is actually Rico Design's essentials super chunky. It works up very quickly and it's super soft and warm, highly recommended.

good news! i'm slamming through little holiday knitting gifts at the speed of sound!

bad news! i have nowhere to store the finished objects! and gifting is four (4) months away!!

#text #personal #knitting #ive made so many glovvies and a couple hats and a scarf now!!#im combining the mindless knits with the stare out the window during drafting hours writing time #dual wielding works well for me (love a hand debuff activity while percolating on sentences)#unfortunately. if i keep going at this rate. ill be out of mindless projects too quick lol #and then all ill have left are the big complicated scary ones....#i still need to do gloves and a big shawl and figure out some colorwork #i think everything else should be pretty easy/straightforward #but counting stitches is not conducive to sentence percolation #i finished a scarf today that i thought would take me the rest of the weekend 🫣

I’m trying to create a knitting pattern for a thing because I can’t find one that is exactly what I want and the math is killing me. I can visualise exactly what I want it to look like but the math for the pattern is ???? I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve miscalculated the increases I need

How's the cleaning going? Thanks for asking! Actually I'm a quarter way through knitting a shawl :)

#i have four days off of work #the life of someone with a part time job #but i decided to unpack and tidy my room #cuz ive lived here for nearly a month and nothing. literally nothing. is unpacked.#but then i saw some pretty yarn i bought years ago and decided that i had to pearn how to knit a shawl instead #thats right. learn #i learned a new knitting skill for this #instead of cleaning i improved my knitting skills #i can do a yarn over now #if you know how to knit. you know how easy that is #but a few months ago when i tried to knit a shawl i couldnt figure out how to do a yarn over #so here we are #procrastination breeds innovation or something #its also 1:30am and i could realistically finish this shawl that i startwd tonight #god my brain is a mess

Small thing I am VERY happy about tonight: found a skein of yarn that was I was missing!!

I've been thinking I might like to knit a shawl ( which at my speed of knitting and actually getting projects off the ground won't actually even get started til armageddon aka p much never) and I wanted to use three of the skeins of this very cool neon pastel adjacent yarn I got this summer - but that since I only had three skeins of it, I'd need something else to augment the yarn supply for it.

I knew I had purchased some yarn last year ( i told you - i buy yarn and then it sits there because i am a lazy knitter) that would be perfect- slightly off-white base but speckled with nearly neon like blue, pink, and yellow speckles! However- i kept finding just three of the four skeins I had purchased. I even checked the account I had with the place I got it from ( knitpicks) to confirm my memory was right - that I HAD purchased 4 , not 3, skeins! Memory was right but also lacking because I still couldn't fine the last skein.

UNTIL TONIGHT!!!! I found it in an incongruous place probably just a place i put it to keep it from being damaged while i was cleaning. BUT point is- I FOUND IT AND NOW I HAVE ENOUGH YARN TO MAKE THE SHAWL I WANTED TO MAKE. No we will just have to see if i can get this off the ground and not mess it up - heh. Anyway though for tonight - I am focusing on the joy of found yarn!!

Here are all the skeins together on the bed - so you can see my insanity over colors and names in action:

#knitting #yarn #the four speckled skeins are Muse from Knit Picks - aran/worsted weight in colorway glee speckled #the other three are from wildflower yarn - also aran/worsted in colorway ( :DDDDDD( UNICORN POOP #who doesn't want a shawl made of speckled glee and unicorn poop???#idk how this will work up as a whole - i will likely make it as easy as possible - and not do funky transition sections - i'm too n00b #but ideally i want to be able to wrap myself up in an obnoxious rainbow #will it be sophisticated? NO. Is that the point of s project like this? NO #if i wanted that then i could probably go out and buy something sophisticated #but obnoxious and semi-pastel-neon rainbow fun and loud in MY SIZE???? darling - that's much harder to find #and if i wear the shawl with like a black or navy top with jeans - fuck it will make me smile -AND THAT IS EXACTLY THE POINT #so yay for finding what is lost and taking joy in the small things - and then i suppose making an overly long post about said things lol :D

i’m limping bc i kicked my moms door yesterday which yippie yappo gonna pretend im spider man and got injured on idk patrol or some shit not that kicked my moms door bc i was angry that she got legitimately upset wit me for needing to use the restroom and couldn’t wait till i was done to do her hair dye stuff but my coworker noticed and now i gotta kill myself

#personal #i told her about it and she was like justified #i do feel childish for kicking her door #it was childish and stupid i was just so upset yesterday #i slammed my door and knocked my own stuff around which great so mature and such a good perso #by knock around i mean my spider man lego fell and i tossed my phone so hard at my pillow my phone charm broke off #easy fixes both of them and only left a scuff on my moms door #i just fucking hate that she called it a lecture when i was saying i need the bathroom #i just hate it so much i can’t talk to her at all #like anything i bring to her attention is a lecture #doesn’t matter if i said one word doesn’t matter if im actively trying to see it from her POV #i’m giving her a lecture and don’t understand i’m the child and she’s the adult #i’m just a stupid child #and even if it isn’t any time i talk to her she doesn’t even look at me #try telling her about my day and she’s watching the shopping channel and i have to repeat myself several times #she’s said she doesn’t think conversations with me are intelligent and she doesn’t think i’m funny and no one likes me #but then she’s always coming to my room and grabbing me to talk about her stuff if i’m not actively trying to talk to her #i get ranked number one at the office out of 19 people f #with a 3 month data analysis and she can’t even bother to talk about it longer than a minute #just about how people complimented her dress and she needs this shawl in a different color #and i know i need to move out but everything seems impossible and i just want to sob #my body hurts so much i still have a head ache from yesterday im cold and my work #is making us track how many pages per task we’re printing alongside everything else we have to track #i wish i had my noise canceling headphones.#it’s just a bad day continuation from yesterday it’s fine i’m just upset and in pain #anyway am i leaning hard core in spacing out to cope with my issues and work through my feelings #and it’s little pathetic but i’m dealing with my mom treating me using the rest room like i’m going specifically against her #AGAIN. repeat performance when i was a kid and using the rest room when she got home from work was reason enough to cuss me out #weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerr
