Roots & Futures: The Afro American Wellness Journey
Tumblr media
Introduction
In the heart of urban landscapes across America, a powerful movement is taking root among African American communities—a resurgence of ancestral health practices that promise not just physical well-being, but profound healing benefits, energy renewal, and a deeper connection with love. This revival pays homage to the rich heritage of African ancestral traditions, adapting them to the rhythm of modern urban life. As we delve deeper into the essence of urban ancestral health, we uncover a holistic approach to wellness that intertwines the physical, emotional, and spiritual, offering transformative benefits that have stood the test of time.
Historical Context and Relevance
The journey of African American health practices is a testament to resilience and adaptability. Traditionally, African ancestors relied on a deep understanding of nature and spirituality to maintain health and heal ailments. This wisdom, passed down through generations, was not just about curing diseases but fostering a harmonious balance between the body, mind, and spirit. The great migration and urbanization presented new challenges and adaptations for these practices. Yet, the essence remained—rooted in a profound connection with ancestral wisdom.
In urban environments, where the hustle and bustle can detach individuals from their roots, the relevance of ancestral health practices becomes even more pronounced. They serve as a bridge, connecting urban dwellers with their heritage, offering solace and healing in the concrete jungle. This link to the past empowers African Americans to reclaim a sense of identity and wellness that urban life often strips away.
Health Benefits
Ancestral health practices offer a holistic approach to physical well-being, emphasizing prevention and natural remedies. Central to this is the traditional diet, rich in whole foods, plants, and herbs, mirroring the eating habits of ancestors who consumed what the earth naturally provided. This diet is not just about nutrition; it's a form of medicine, reducing the risk of modern diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and heart conditions that disproportionately affect African Americans.
Herbal medicine, another cornerstone, utilizes plant-based remedies to treat and prevent illnesses. These natural concoctions, steeped in tradition, have been validated by modern science for their healing properties. For instance, the use of bitter leaf, moringa, and ginger in traditional remedies is now supported by research highlighting their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and immune-boosting effects.
Healing Benefits
Beyond physical health, ancestral practices offer profound mental and emotional healing. The African American tradition of storytelling, for example, serves as a powerful tool for emotional catharsis and resilience building. Sharing stories of struggle, triumph, and hope within the community not only preserves historical memory but also fosters a sense of belonging and identity.
Community gatherings and traditional ceremonies provide a space for collective healing, allowing individuals to connect, share experiences, and support each other emotionally. These practices, deeply spiritual in nature, help heal the wounds of isolation, stress, and urban life, reinforcing the community's fabric and individual's sense of self-worth and belonging.
Energy and Love
The concept of energy in ancestral health practices transcends the physical, encompassing spiritual and emotional dimensions. Practices such as meditation, yoga (with roots in ancient African spirituality), and dance are not just physical exercises but rituals that cultivate life energy, or "chi," promoting harmony and balance within and with the world.
Love, in the context of ancestral health, is both self-love and communal love. It manifests through practices that nurture the soul, affirm one’s identity, and reinforce connections with others and ancestors. This sense of love and belonging is fundamental for mental health, combating the feelings of alienation that can prevail in urban environments.
Modern Adaptations and Incorporations
In today’s urban settings, African Americans are ingeniously adapting these ancestral practices to fit contemporary lifestyles. Urban gardens and farms reclaim the tradition of growing one’s own food, connecting with the earth, and fostering community through shared spaces. Workshops and social media platforms have become modern-day storytelling circles, spreading knowledge of herbal remedies, traditional recipes, and healing practices, making them accessible to a wider audience.

This journey from the ancestral lands of Africa to the urban landscapes of America has not only preserved a rich heritage of natural remedies, dietary wisdom, and spiritual practices but has also adapted these traditions to meet the challenges and opportunities of modern life.
The resilience and creativity of the African American community have ensured that these ancestral health practices continue to thrive, blending seamlessly with contemporary wellness movements. By embracing the lessons of the past, we unlock the potential for a healthier, more sustainable future. This journey underscores the importance of community, sustainability, and wellness as pillars of our collective well-being.

Together, we can create a legacy of health and wellness that will empower future generations.

Scorpio energy is sacred, otherworldly and undefinable🎴
Breaking down each Scorpio House Placement N what it means for you 🩸
Tumblr media
Scorpio in the 1st House
You destroy who you used to be in public, over and over. Identity is a battlefield. Every reinvention starts with shedding old skin. People never meet the same version of you twice, and that's the point. Power comes from your own rebirth.
Scorpio in the 2nd House
You transform through loss of stability. Money, worth, and possessions are often ripped away until you stop depending on them to feel safe. Rebirth comes through finding value in what no one can take—your essence and inner self-esteem.
Scorpio in the 3rd House
Your thoughts and words are reborn after deep betrayal or mental breakdown. You experience mental ego death through communication, secrets, and truth. Rebirth happens when you speak your darkest truths without flinching. Your voice holds power.
Scorpio in the 4th House
Your roots were born in survival. Family pain, ancestral trauma, and emotional abandonment shape your identity. You experience rebirth when you build your own version of home and redefine safety on your own terms. The inner child gets remade.
Scorpio in the 5th House
You destroy old versions of self-expression. Love wounds, betrayal in romance, or lost passion force you to confront what you give and why. True creative rebirth comes when you create without fear of rejection. Pleasure becomes sacred again.
Scorpio in the 6th House
Your daily life becomes a battleground for control. Health, habits, work—they all demand death of routine and rebirth through discipline and surrender. Rebirth comes when you stop micromanaging pain and instead integrate it into healing.
Scorpio in the 7th House
You face death and rebirth through relationships. People mirror your shadow, betray your trust, and strip your defenses. But rebirth happens when you stop giving away your power in love and start becoming the partner you always needed.
Scorpio in the 8th House
You are transformation embodied. Death and rebirth are constant, intimate, and emotional. Pain makes you real. Loss makes you sharp. You rebuild yourself in the dark and rise ten times stronger. Nothing superficial survives your soul.
Scorpio in the 9th House
Your beliefs get destroyed before they can guide you. Faith is earned through crisis. Rebirth comes through questioning everything and burning outdated truths. You transform when you stop running and live by the wisdom pain gave you.
Scorpio in the 10th House
You face death through reputation, failure, and public collapse. You're reborn when you stop chasing power for approval and build legacy through truth. Real success happens when you stop hiding and show up raw in the spotlight.
Scorpio in the 11th House
Your social world breaks you before it elevates you. Friendships, networks, and collective ideals betray you or abandon you until you lead from the ashes. Rebirth happens when you serve from your scars, not your need to belong.
Scorpio in the 12th House
You are reborn alone, in silence, in darkness. Your psyche holds lifetimes of endings. Spiritual death happens often and unseen. Rebirth comes when you surrender control of the unseen and trust the void. You transform through surrender, not force.

Ruler of the 8th through the houses
8th house ruler through the houses, aka: the hidden thread in your chart that reveals your relationship to power, transformation, death/rebirth, intimacy, shadow, sex, money, and healing. This house does not play. It’s where the real sh*t happens behind closed doors — emotionally, spiritually, sexually, financially. When we look at where the ruler of your 8th house is placed, we see where and how you face your edge.
8th House Ruler in the 1st House
You are the transformation.
Death-rebirth is part of your identity. You carry an aura of intensity, and people project deep, powerful energy onto you. You’re the kind of person who’s lived 9 lives already. Heals through: Self-awareness, embodiment, personal power. Shadow: Taking on others’ pain as identity. “My presence alone shifts energy.”
8th House Ruler in the 2nd House
You turn pain into value.
Money and self-worth are tied to your transformation journey. You may receive support or inheritance from others — but your challenge is learning to stand firm in your own power. Heals through: Grounding, self-trust, embodiment. Shadow: Over-reliance on others for security. “What I’ve survived is my currency.”
8th House Ruler in the 3rd House
Your words carry weight.
Your mind is deep, and communication is a transformative force. You may talk or write about taboo topics, secrets, or emotional depths. Nothing about you is surface-level. Heals through: Honest conversations, storytelling, expression. Shadow: Mental obsession, spiraling thoughts. “My voice is my shadow work.”
8th House Ruler in the 4th House
Your roots hold your transformation.
Family, ancestry, or your inner emotional life is where your shadow work lives. You may inherit trauma, gifts, or secrets. You need safety + solitude to process. Heals through: Inner child work, home, ancestral healing. Shadow: Clinging to emotional patterns. “My bloodline speaks through me.”
8th House Ruler in the 5th House
Your power is in your creativity.
You transform through passion, art, love, and even heartbreak. Sexual energy is sacred here — you alchemize pain into self-expression. Love can be dramatic, karmic, intense. Heals through: Creation, romantic catharsis, pleasure. Shadow: Addicted to intensity in love. “I turn heartbreak into masterpieces.”
8th House Ruler in the 6th House
You heal through service.
Your work or health journey is tied to deep transformation. You may work in healing, therapy, or behind-the-scenes spaces. Your shadow shows up in your routine, stress, and body. Heals through: Daily ritual, helping others, somatics. Shadow: Self-sacrifice, burnout, martyrdom. “My pain becomes purpose.”
8th House Ruler in the 7th House
You transform through relationships.
Love is your mirror — and sometimes your battleground. Partnerships trigger your deepest wounds and your biggest breakthroughs. Intimacy is your initiation. Heals through: Deep connection, forgiveness, sacred sexuality. Shadow: Power struggles, fear of abandonment. “Love strips me down to rebuild me.”
8th House Ruler in the 8th House
You’re built for the underworld.
You naturally swim in deep waters — psychology, shadow work, the occult, death, sex, healing. You may be drawn to spiritual or energetic work. Your power is undeniable. Heals through: Embracing intensity + owning power. Shadow: Addiction to chaos or emotional extremes. “I’m not afraid of the dark — I am the dark.”
8th House Ruler in the 9th House
Transformation comes through truth.
Your beliefs, travels, or spiritual studies catalyze your rebirths. You seek answers to life’s mysteries — and may be a seeker, guide, or philosopher of the taboo. Heals through: Wisdom, travel, expansion. Shadow: Escaping pain through idealism. “I turned my wounds into worldviews.”
8th House Ruler in the 10th House
You alchemize through ambition.
Your career may involve transformation, crisis work, or helping others heal. You could become known for your resilience. Power plays or hidden battles might shape your path. Heals through: Leadership, visibility, long-term goals. Shadow: Authority issues, overworking to avoid pain. “I built an empire from the ashes.”
8th House Ruler in the 11th House
You bring depth to the collective.
Friendships, social change, or online spaces may be the ground for shadow work. You’re meant to help your community evolve — even if that means stirring the pot. Heals through: Advocacy, networks, innovation. Shadow: Fear of rejection or hiding in groups. “My vision is radical and real.”
8th House Ruler in the 12th House
Your transformation is sacred + hidden.
You move through karmic, spiritual, or ancestral healing. Alone time is crucial. You may be deeply psychic, and drawn to mysticism, dreamwork, or the subconscious. Heals through: Solitude, surrender, spiritual practices. Shadow: Escapism, secret pain, past-life trauma. “I dissolve to be reborn.”

(these observations are general and do not cover all aspects)
♏︎ pluto shows where we burn, toughen, and become resilient. reaping the fruits of this process can be strenuous, and might be seen better in hindsight.
♏︎ the energies can be raw and primal, given pluto's urgency and intensity. centring obsession, compulsion, paranoia, etc.
♏︎ it can feel as though you symbolically enter a wound, refracting its pain back to you upon contact. the energies can be vile, and gory.
♏︎ pluto compels us to confront our deepest wounds, and demands us to see where our perception is tainted by trauma. it is an undercurrent, nudging us to the edge to fall (confront) - and rise (heal).
pluto in the first house
♏︎ a dominating placement since it falls in the house of 'identity', creating a deep resonance with plutonian themes. there's frequent retreat due to an early disillusionment about people's intentions - leading to relying on oneself. can detach from people and be cautious, extremely observant. you can find a detailed description on pluto conjunct the ascendant here.
♏︎ during transit: change in appearance, often 'darkening'. can be a time of vitality, endurance, and determination. coming out of introspection - redefining oneself.
pluto in the second house
♏︎ compulsively chasing security and resourcefulness, focused on materialism and control, fear of scarcity and being dominated – dealing with cyclical loss, creating a fear of losing ones foundation. this loss can range from opportunities, careers, assets or wealth to the loss of an identity or person (core wound).
♏︎ during transit: reclaiming what's been taken from you, having firm boundaries, accumulation and loss of wealth, defining value, learning that abundance starts from within.
pluto in the third house
♏︎ sensual voices - talking oneself into positions of power, feared for their intellect and silenced by those less competent. often critical of institutions. requiring depth and versatility - jack of all trades. loving banter and debate. intrigued by intelligence, quick and instinctual.
♏︎ can be extremely critical of themselves, downplaying their achievements even if they are exceptional. longing to be heard and valued.
♏︎ during transit: intellectual obsessions, craving taboo or occult knowledge, communal differences - questioning one's belonging, focus on mental health and what doesn't serve you.

pluto in the eighth house
♏︎ sexually reserved, treating sex and intimacy as something sacred or ritualistic. casual sex and intimacy drains them and generally can't be sustained. once committed they are bound. can have obsessive tendencies and high stamina. desired and charismatic, however out of reach.
♏︎ can be calculated and sense opportunities to gain power. psychological affinity allowing them to recognize patterns and behaviours. deeply tied to wealth (currency of power), either born into influential families or striving to attain status.
♏︎ during transit: having power and losing it, being stripped of everything you thought was yours. letting go of conditioned shame. financial dependence, trauma being centred (actively or in hindsight). intimacy, few but significant connections.
pluto in the ninth house
♏︎ the occult, philosophical expansion and psychic abilities - abundant yet compromised by structure. seeing past division and aching over discrimination, hatred, and coldness. receptive to transcendence, deeply wounded by closed hearts.
♏︎ when restricted or bound to a place the jupiterian expansiveness turns inward (mental). they are curious, wise, artistic, philosophical, and energetic. attempting to compromise their nature makes them burst (and leave).
♏︎ during transit: desire to attain higher education or specialising in a field, craving intellectual depth and mental stimulation, change of perception (also ideologies and religion), experimenting despite resistance.
pluto in the tenth house
♏︎ stunted legacy - often hindered by authorities or outer circumstances to achieve greatness, putting them at a disadvantage despite their capabilities. opportunities can be disproportionate to their potential. think of an excellent communicator working in a call centre. having to work harder than the average person.
♏︎ during transit: focus on public sphere and reputation, facing scrutiny and striving to be respected, peaking. can be about inheritance, passed on legacies, scandals, and authority. be strategic of what you put out, esp. online with pluto in aquarius. defending one's principles.
pluto in the eleventh house
♏︎ intelligent and analytical, craving originality and detecting lies without trying. can appear vain due to their selectiveness, needing mental stimulation, bored by repetitive and constructed thoughts. can be isolated - principle above sympathy. detached when nothing piques their interest.
♏︎ during transit: focus on higher concepts - disconnect that brings awareness to societal structures, innovation, and the subconscious. peak social awareness and calling out misbehaviour. pioneering esp. in tech and humanitarianism. decentralizing status, prioritizing impact.
pluto in the twelfth house
♏︎ being intertwined with the world's suffering and consumed by agony that isn't theirs. pain can be unrestricted since it transcends the material. the veil, to both humans and the otherworldly, is thin. feeling out of place, or surreal.
♏︎ mesmerizing eyes, and an existence between the worlds. characterised by sensitivity and wisdom beyond their years. esp. dominating when pluto in the 12h is conjunct their ascendant.
♏︎ during transit: loss of unity with their pain concentrated inward, can feel cataclysmic and fated. confrontation and healing of trauma. fear over losing our cognitive abilities and originality due to advancements, esp. ai.

When you are vulnerable enough to permit your body to have an orgasm or multiple orgasms while your breasts are being sucked as some form of penetration is also occurring, it’s an accelerated way to clear the debris and stagnation from around your heart lingering from past experiences, including ancestral and sexual trauma, so that your heart can really open up more which creates a natural radiance, mainly because your energy is now flowing again from root to crown. When your energy is less contracted and stuck, your organs can now be infused with more light. This altered state of consciousness experience results in: clearer skin. Shinier hair. Better breath flow and digestion. Clearer eyes. More relaxed energy. With more relaxed energy, some health issues like cervical dysplasia can be mystically resolved. Money can start to flow in mysterious ways as welll. You can lose weight around your belly without working out. Etc. That’s why the common misconception that you need to be “fully healed” in order to love someone is such a Western perfectionist fallacy. And there is really no such thing as a fully healed person. Who you are right now, in all your beauty, mess and imperfections, is incredibly lovable— worthy of love and being made love to. And love and loving are some of the highest and most naturally healing frequencies on the planet. Engage breast alchemy as often as possible like you are in the loading phase of taking new herbs and vitamins. We don’t need to be heal to love. We need to love to heal. Consistency is incredible. —India Ame’ye

🦇spooky season astro observations part 2🦇
Tumblr media
🕸️Mars in the 8th house signals a strong connection to the occult, death, and transformation. People with Mars in the 8th may have an intense drive to uncover hidden truths, and they may be drawn to witchcraft or other forms of shadow work. Their energy can be magnetically dark, with a fearless approach to taboo topics.
🕸️Moon in the 6th house deals with health and routines, and the Moon here can bring a strong connection to emotional healing through ritual. Individuals with this placement may be drawn to herbalism, crystal healing, or other forms of spiritual wellness. Their intuition is heightened when caring for others.
🕸️Scorpio inner planets placements is the ultimate placement for those drawn to the darker, transformative side of life. Sun in Scorpio individuals are often fascinated by death, magic, and the unseen world. They thrive on digging deep into life’s mysteries and may have a natural gift for divination or witchcraft.
🕸️With Capricorn Venus love feels like a haunting echo from the past, bound by ancient karma. You’re drawn to the eerie beauty of time-worn places, old cemeteries, or crumbling ruins. Relationships may feel fated, almost as if you’ve been tied to your lover through lifetimes of karmic debt. There’s a cold, gothic romance in your heart, where love and death are intertwined.
🕸️ Saturn in Aquarius can be a sign of the occult scientist—someone who wants to apply a structured, rational approach to magical or esoteric studies. These individuals might be drawn to astrology, tarot, or numerology, using logic and systems to uncover deeper truths about the universe.
🕸️With Pluto Square Ascendant you radiate a dark, haunting energy that others find unsettling. There’s an aura of death and rebirth around you, as if you’re always walking with ghosts. People sense something powerful and dangerous lurking beneath the surface. It’s as though you’ve been touched by the underworld, and those around you feel compelled—yet afraid—to dive into your depths.
🕸️Neptune sextile Pluto aspect pulls you into the depths of the collective unconscious, where the boundaries between life and death dissolve. Neptune’s ethereal influence combines with Pluto’s underworldly energy, making you a natural channel for spirits or ancestral energies. The occult comes to you not as a study, but as a calling from the depths of the unknown. Here, magic isn’t a practice—it’s a descent into a labyrinth of shadows, where the answers you seek may come from voices long forgotten.
🕸️Moon sextile Pluto is a restless spirit, constantly seeking the unknown. Strange dreams haunt your sleep, filled with symbols and omens. There’s a wildness to your emotional world—Uranus shakes things loose, making room for paranormal experiences and unpredictable psychic flashes. It’s as if your soul is tuned to the frequency of the strange and the uncanny, always ready to hear the whispers from beyond.
🕸️With Venus trine Neptune love becomes a ghostly whisper, something otherworldly and untouchable. Venus trine Neptune connects you to love that feels eternal, as if your heart beats in tune with the spirits of long-lost lovers. You might fall in love with the idea of someone rather than their flesh and blood, forever chasing shadows in the mist. There is beauty here, but it’s veiled, as if you’re dancing with phantoms in a moonlit graveyard.
🕸️ Lilith in the 4th house brings forth ancestral shadows and hidden traumas, making you deeply aware of family secrets and the haunting legacy of those who came before. There’s a sense that your roots are tangled in dark magic, and the walls of your home may hold the spirits of your lineage, forever seeking to communicate their untold stories.
🕸️ With Lilith in the 7th house, relationships become a cauldron of dark magic and transformative energy. Here, individuals may attract partners who challenge them to confront their shadow selves, revealing deep truths and hidden desires. This dynamic often feels like a mystical dance between power and vulnerability.
That’s it for part two. Take what resonates and leave the rest.
Much love🥀 -mercurianchild

week of january 26th, 2025
these are written predominantly for the *rising* signs but they are also intuitively "channeled" enough that they should work for any dominant energy you have! (try your sun if you don't know rising, or more advanced readers can try moon, anywhere you have a stellium, etc and see what works best for you!)
aries: your week is a little bit, i'll just say, wimpy? there are many good aspects coming up but none that particularly energize you, especially with mars in his current state. so do not expect yourself to be up for a lot, but do surround yourself with life's small and simple pleasures.
taurus: it would take me a long time to list out the individual aspects affecting you this week but let me at least say they are all empowering, and mostly not too difficult. if you're not feeling a bit electrified, by love or by the revolutionary spirit or by magic or something, you likely have your mind on things that aren't in alignment with your true desires or path.
gemini: focus this week on your highest ideals, be they spiritual, philosophical, or academic. whether you're the most devout nun in the cloister or the staunchest atheist out there, you have some ideals and if you don't, you need to be looking harder. bonus points if you set some intentions about these ideals to follow through with over the coming few weeks.
cancerians: the new moon this week makes you magical. like in the witchiest and most esoteric of ways. so, do with that what you will. you also benefit a lot from this week's piscean activity, especially if you have placements in the last few degrees of this sign.
leo: your relationships, the committed, serious ones, are in focus this week. your romantic partner, your business partner, your best friend, whoever you are really in a solid commitment with, to each other, these relationships get a lot of fresh air in a lot of good ways. unrelated but simultaneously you may find yourself more clairvoyant than usual so don't take those dreams and visions to be silly. they are not.
virgo: your partnerships get a big blessing this week especially if you are in a romantic relationship and especially if that relationship has been defined and committed to. but this does apply to all forms of partnership. it may be obviously miraculous or a smaller occurrence, and it is just the beginning.
libra: if you're not having fun - at least making some fun for yourself! - you aren't doing this week right. if you haven't been in a while, set serious intentions about it this week and follow through. you may also see an increase in your health and wellness, a very sacred ritual you can incorporate into your routine, or develop a gym or workplace crush. if so it's not a bad idea to entertain those newly open paths.
scorpio: expect (or cause!) changes to your partnerships, and to your home life. one thing that looks quite possible for you is a romantic choice. you have someone you've long been committed to on the one hand and someone new or very interesting on the other, or if it's not people it may be passion projects, for example. it's not an easy choice but whatever you choose at this time gets a little venusian blessing as long as you are following your heart and not just social rules.
sagittarius: you have two major quests this week according to the planets. first, take care of things at home or with your family of origin, or your ancestral line, whichever most calls to you at this time. second, be in your community helping the sick, the poor, the elderly, whomever is needing it.
capricorn: although there are many pleasant aspects this week there are not many that touch your sign directly. however your ruler saturn is in pisces and pisces is an epicenter for a lot of good, even miraculous things at the moment. plus mercury into aquarius this week is good for your money, resources, and assets - perhaps your time, most of all.
aquarius: it's a very busy week, for everyone, and you more than average. so you have things to say and it's not going to work for you to wait around for a better time to say it, get it out. set intentions that improve yourself and your lot. a change may be made for you, like it or not, in your home life, ie in your abode *and/or* involving your family of origin. but you have all the resources needed to handle any obstacle in your path even if it seems to require a miracle.
pisces: your inner world, and your psyche, may be more active now than the three-dimensional scenery around you. but you are like a magician, or even more than that. venus and neptune conjoin in your sign. the former is exalted and the latter in domicile. for a little while they even involve the moon. trust your intuition and your dreams but don't trust that people's motives are as pure as they may seem. you are the microcosm and the macrocosm here, so they may symbolize some troublesome part of you, but the best way to reap the (immense!) benefits of this period is to remember that they are part of you.
watch the transit posts in real time to have the best guide through your week. want a little more? have a look at my patreon.

Astro Note for 6/9/2025
The big news of the day is Jupiter moving into the self-sustaining water sign of Cancer! Many people in the astrological community have been looking forward to this benefic changing signs, as Jupiter is considered in detriment in the sign of Gemini, where it spent the last difficult year. Now in Cancer, Jupiter is exalted and happy, jovial and abundant, and is ready to dole out blessings. And, Jupiter will stay in the sign of receptive, feminine Cancer until end of June 2026.
For many, the personal focus will now shift and hone in on our feelings, home, hearth, family, ancestral issues, and overall health. Self-love and self-acceptance also come center stage, for without a solid base in these key areas, we really can't properly address all the rest.
Jupiter will also quickly square Saturn and Neptune, however, in the early degrees of Aries, and the tension of what could be meets both the potential of dreams (Neptune) and the desire for practical structures (Saturn). This is a square in cardinal signs, so we will feel the pressure to get things moving in our lives, in ways that are ultimately helpful for our own needs. Forward momentum will feel very good at this time.
Mercury, now in Cancer, also squares Saturn and Neptune in Aries. This can make it a bit tough to conceptualize and communicate about our hopes, dreams, visions, and aspirations. There is a tension here, but again it is a cardinal signs square. We will feel compelled to press forward anyway, to resolve that tension.
The Venus-Pluto square continues, and is exact starting today. You want your dreams now to come from a place of hope for your future, and not a place of fear (the Underworld of the psyche) for what the future could bring. Ask yourself where you are coming from in your planning... Are you planning your next steps in life based on what you truly hope will occur? Or, are you planning your next steps based on what you're afraid might happen, so you're trying to avoid it?
In the later part of the day, we move toward a Mars-Chiron trine that can help soften some of the harshness of these energies. We may have the opportunity to take the lead, or to take action, with matters that lead to healing, cleansing, or teaching. This transit opens us up to regeneration and repair.

What is an Ancestor...?
Tumblr media
Tip Jar | Paid Services | Donations of support to $MELANINFURY
ANCESTORS are the ones that come before you. At times they can be your greatest connection to unconditional love or an experience to release and patiently grow in a new direction. Ancestors represent the experience and in between of LIFE & DEATH. An ancestor can be more than one thing, more than one person and more than one meaning. Lets explore the endless possibilities.
THE BLOOD
* Ancestors are directly linked to you by connection of soul, some are bloodline ancestors directly linked through lineage passed down from offspring. This is a potent and profound connection, here lies the source of alot of elevation and inheritance - that is directly. * This is the part of you, for example that has gifts like your blood grandmother, sight or spiritual talents are passed down this way. This is the inheritance, this isn't always a blessing. If someone curses you or passes down a generational curse those may also be apart of the gamble.
THE WISDOM & GUIDANCE
* The ones that came before you have experienced this life and died to tell the tale. Sounds quirky but in many ways we rely on our ancestors to move forward, we use their history and records in the free world to continue the very evolution that brought us about today. * Ancestors are the people who carry the wisdom of the lineage. This connection is your source of guidance when you have no where to turn too. * Spirits see and talk too, they have eyes and connection in places you cannot reach. Beyond being the embodiment of an older version of your bloodline, they are still linked to you in death. They often show themselves through intuitive nudges and guidance. * The ancestors are just that, the ones who came before but in all honesty many will not show up as the "MAIN". They come and go as they please and have the ability to show up at parts of your journey where they connect with you the most. Example: (Referencing Ancestral Practices) A grandmother who was good with money but had bad mental health, if you get into ancestral practice logically are you gonna call on her for guidance with money not for mental fortitude and tips on thriving mentally....same thing applies to how they may show up for you. Their guidance isn't all encompassing, they may not be elevated but they are your greatest source of reference. Call on the right one for the right things and do so respectfully if you ask.
THE ROOT
* You are as strong as you are grounded and they are as strong as you. * They are the ROOT of your family, their energy and past can shape your ROOTS in every way moving forward. One decision can lay a root of success, healing or destruction. * What is the ROOT of the “why” they and you continue to leave legacy or live on. What does that answer mean to your great-great-great grandmother? Ancestors bring the ROOT of your soul purpose to the forefront especially through elevation. * The ROOT of your spirit is the fruit that will bear. This applies to the ancestors and your relationship with them. They are the ROOT of your Tree, The seed of your balance.
FAMILY
* ANCESTORS do not have to be blood, the most high will move in mysterious ways. The FAMILY you’re born into is just that, lots of family are made. FAMILY and ancestors are made through unconditional love. FAMILY is also your Ancestors. * They do NOT have to be blood to be your Ancestor. I have had more than one ancestor that is not blood related but are my ancestors just the same. They support you and are they for you in the ways that can and cannot be explained. True Love and dedication. * They are honorable and deserve more honor from you, because they move and work on your behalf even in death. Even through every possible barrier in this universe they remain, strong and right by your side. That bond isn't a given its cultivated by you and them. In many cases it takes its time and comes right on time, but when its there solid.
Tumblr media

Tumblr media
Generational planets tell a story of generational experience based on prominent and repeated aspects. The inheritance of signs is also a study that I am exploring with my own lineage. Spiritual lessons of the family line including generational curses and divine healing can be seen from here.
PLUTO:
* In terms to ancestors DEATH & REBIRTH can be seen in this generation planet. I closely associate plutonic energy with how you process the most intense and deepest connections, emotions and change in life. * Death which is not an endings but a cycle of new beginning in hoodoo and many cultures closely associates with ancestors. * This planet shows the necessary changes needed on the steps to enlightenment. * The generations strengths yet weakness within their own intensity. Example: A great example is this opinionated yet innovative generation of Pluto in Sagittarius that dominates the commentary/online space regarding culture/religion/politics/Ideologies/Societal Rules * Trauma and Intense Experiences impact generations, though Pluto it can be seen through placement and its aspects within the natal. If you are a descendant of violence, s*xual trauma and generational trauma.
SATURN:
This planet is connected to karma and generational structures. The lessons and wisdom of the ones before you can be seen here. Patterns and Roots to most experiences in the ancestral line can be traced and resolved with this planet. Another inheritance of wisdom, hardships and lessons. The most karmically bond planet in terms of ancestors. One of the strongest ways they communicate their guidance in a natal chart It takes full maturity (30 years) to master this part of your life, looking at the Saturn return journey when this planet cycles back to make sure you've been tending to your lessons and development. The energy of Saturn pushes for success like a diamond being pressured by the tides of the earth. Mastery and Recognition are key, in terms of ancestors the journey of purpose and mission aligns with these themes almost seamlessly. * The literal Grandfather Planet. The most hidden spiritual and universal planet i've seen in my studies. You can see alot regarding ancestral wisdom and mastery here. The hermit card closely associated with its solitary focus and deep journey into self, Saturn is the key to master in the natal chart. Example: Saturn in Aries - Self Mastery & Discipline , Saturn in Cancer - Tradition & Maturity, Saturn in Taurus - Stability & Fulfilment * The planet of your Spiritual Journey, Life Lessons & Wisdom. Key - Self Mastery, one of the keys to exploring the ancestors.
NEPTUNE:
* This planet shows inherited dreams and imagination. This can be a fine line between dreams and illusions, the grand fog in the brain but lets explore. * This is the planet associated with pisces and the spirituality that connects us. The weave in the tapestry of the universe. * It shows your intuition and spiritual abilities which are passed down and also uplifted generationally. * Strong indicator for spiritual gifts and talents, especially foresight and promise in regards to ancestry and the past. * Lots of lessons from the past life station here.
URANUS:
* The generational planet of Innovation, Chaos, Rebellion and Revolution. * This the true fire and divinely guided experience that you don't speak or work into existence it just is for you. This is your revolutionary vision that your inherited from the warrior or seer before you. This is the most profound experience in the natal chart. 🌪️: Aries Rising -> Money moves, baby. You could get a surprise check, raise, or a wild idea that turns into income. BUT it might also shake up your spending habits. You’re being pushed to create more financial freedom, not rely on the old hustle grind. Sudden value shifts too; what mattered yesterday may feel irrelevant now.
🌪️: Taurus Rising -> You’re the main character of this plot twist. Your identity, appearance, and self concept could go through a glow up or total reinvention. You may feel restless AF; itching to break free from anything or anyone limiting you. People might say you’re acting “different”. You are. You’re becoming more you.
🌪️: Gemini Rising -> Spiritual awakenings, intuitive downloads, and secret revelations are on deck. You might feel called to go ghost for a bit or cut off low vibe energy. Dreams could be intense and eye opening. A hidden truth could drop like a bomb and set you free. Spiritual clean out time.
🌪️: Cancer Rising -> A friend, follower, or group might shake things up either by inspiring a bold new dream or showing their true colors. You could go viral unexpectedly or get involved with a radical new community that aligns more with who you’re becoming. Expect the unexpected with social media & networking.
🌪️: Leo Rising -> Big boss energy! Your public image, career path, or authority figure could shift overnight. You may get shocking recognition, quit a job out of nowhere, or launch something bold. People are watching so be ready to shock and awe in the best way. You’re stepping into your true calling.
🌪️: Virgo Rising -> Your beliefs, worldview, or even your literal location could shift. This is “I booked a one-way flight” energy. You may feel the urge to break free from rigid thinking or traditions. School, teaching, publishing, or travel plans could pop off or change last minute. Major spiritual awakening energy too.
🌪️: Libra Rising -> Rebirth time. You’re not just transforming, you’re mutating. This hits your 8th house of intimacy, sex, shared money, and deep fears. You may cut cords, receive unexpected cash, or dive into something taboo. It’s a shedding of the old skin, especially around power dynamics and emotional bonds.
🌪️: Scorpio Rising -> Plot twists in love, contracts, or key partnerships. A sudden breakup, meet-cute, or redefinition of “relationship goals” could shake things up. You’re craving freedom and authenticity in how you relate. If it’s not aligned, it’s gone. If it’s electric and real then it’s on.
🌪️: Sagittarius Rising -> Your daily routine, job, or health habits could change out of nowhere either by force or by epiphany. Maybe you quit the 9-5. Maybe you start biohacking. Your body is a messenger right now so listen to it. You’re learning how to rebel against burnout and find balance in chaos.
🌪️: Capricorn Rising -> This is your wild creative spark moment. Love, fun, and your inner child are lit up. An unexpected crush, pregnancy news, or passion project could swoop in. You’re being urged to create from a place of freedom, not perfection. Life is about joy, not just legacy.
🌪️: Aquarius Rising -> Your home, family, or emotional world is getting a shake-up. You could suddenly move, redecorate, or confront ancestral patterns that need breaking. An emotional breakthrough could rock your foundation in the best way. You’re creating a safe space that honors your individuality.
🌪️: Pisces Rising -> Your voice is electric right now; don’t sleep on your power to shock, teach, or inspire with your words. Sudden news, a random DM, or a wild convo could be life-altering. If you’ve felt muted, this is your throat chakra going supernova. Speak your truth even if it surprises people.

Pick-An-Icon: How can you show up for your ancestors during Black History Month?
(Left-to-Right: Pile 1, Pile 2, Pile 3)
In honor of Black History Month, I wanted to start a Pick-A-Card series dedicated to Black Americans. I want to highlight icons in our community while simultaneously offering advice for any Black Americans who seek guidance about how to honor their heritage. If you're a Black American and you're reading this, this is for YOU! With the usage of the special Hoodoo Tarot deck, I will present you with ways to honor your ancestors. If you read this and enjoy and/or resonate with the reading, I encourage you to book with me! Thank you in advance!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pile 1: Cards Used - Eight of Knives, Railroad Bill, Three of Baskets, Nine of Baskets, Two of Baskets, Nine of Knives, Gullah Jack and John Horse.
Affirmation: It is easy for me to take control of my narrative.
If you chose the image of Chaka Khan, then you resonate with her feisty, raw energy. This pile is for the creatives who are unsure of their talents. Your ancestors want you to know that there is more than one way to skin a cat. Introduce original ideas to the forefront. One way you can honor them is by not allowing time to limit your abilities. You put in so much work only to feel limited by a man-made construct. It doesn’t matter how old or young you are, you will always have time! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I channeled this old interview of Prince saying how he doesn't celebrate birthdays because it keeps him younger. Take on that carefree mindset of not applying the norm to your life. Your time is now! Another way that you can honor your ancestors is by setting up an altar. I get the sense that this pile is very secretive with their spiritual practices. Adorn your altar with foods, drinks, jewelry and other belongings of this loved one. They will appreciate it dearly. If you've lost someone recently, my condolences. But definitely keep in touch with them. I get the feeling that this is a young man, like an older cousin or brother. Keep the memories of you two alive so that he can peacefully cross over into the afterlife. Lastly, being a class act is a great way to honor your ancestors. Refusing to sit back and allow injustices to happen will make your ancestors proud. You have a voice! Use it! Organizing protests, sit-ins, even crowdfunding will make your ancestors proud. Combatting the capitalistic nature of society by collaborating with those in your community will hep you get in touch with your ancestral roots. You're naturally a giver, I can tell.
Pile 2: Cards Used - Nine of Knives, Two of Coins, Five of Sticks, Strength, Daughter of Knives, Aunt Caroline, Ten of Sticks, Six of Knives, The Garden and Seven of Coins.
Affirmation: I deserve to move through life with ease.
Hello, Pile 2. Off rip, I get the feeling that this is my pile of overachievers. I also believe that this is the pile that people who identify as LGBTQIA+. You resonate with the energy of Lauryn Hill's mysterious, intellectual nature. Why do you feel the need to carry so many burdens, Pile 2? One way to honor your ancestors is to lighten your load. They see that you struggle so much because of the amount of responsibilities that you carry. They had to go through similar things and they do want to witness their struggles in your lifetime. Ask for help, please. If you do not ask for help, then you will implode and we want to avoid that as much as possible, yes? You do not have to be the strongest in the room. Who are you trying to prove yourself to? It would be best that this pile talks to a mental health professional to receive guidance and proper medical treatment. Another way that you can honor your ancestors is by blowing off steam. Let your emotions flow. Slam the doors. Scream in pillows. Remove the mask and don't allow your emotions to consume you. You are allowed to be angry, my love. You have a lot to be angry about. Finally, the last way that you can honor your ancestors is to explore. You put in so much work, it's only right you get rewarded for it. Book that spa day. Go get a mani-pedi. Take the weekend off and go into hiding, you deserve it. Go somewhere you haven't been before. Your ancestors want you to relax and wind down.
Pile 3: Cards Used - Ten of Coins, Father Simms, Mother of Knives, Four of Coins, Dr. Grant, Six of Sticks, Six of Baskets, Six of Knives, Nine of Knives, Miss Robinson and Five of Coins.
Affirmation: I am doing perfectly fine in the present moment.
Alright Pile 3. You choose the image of Donna Summer, which means you resonate with her sultry, bold personality. This pile already has a close relationship with their family/ancestors, specifically the maternal side. To honor your ancestors, you must keep it this way. Learn about the traditions of your maternal side. Preserve recipes, photos and jewelry of your maternal side. And most importantly, gatekeep these things! You don’t have to share everything with everyone! Some people who choose this pile will have ties to Houston, Texas or currently live there. If you’re thinking about moving there, you should! It will help you mature. Another way that you can honor your ancestors is to receive compliments of comparison to a family member of yours well. You may not like it, but it shows your ancestors that you have respect for their features and/or personality. If you look like Aunt Linda or Uncle Jermaine, then that’s absolutely fine! Don’t deny it! Embrace it! Lastly, don’t let money consume you! I channeled the scene at the end of Players Club where Diamond visits Ebony at her new job in the shoe store. Diamond tells Ebony to “make that money, girl but don’t let it make you.” You don’t have to keep up with the latest fashion trends. You don’t have to have a job in tech or have a “lazy” desk job. It is perfectly fine to work at McDonald’s or work in retail. You’re making an honest living and that’s all that matters. Accept things as they are. Your ancestors made something out of nothing, and so can you. They are proud of you! Keep going.
