Hope you don't feel pressure to try to make Ear canon in any AU! I love cute kid OCs and seeing what characters could be like as parents as much as anyone else but I know some people can get overly insistent that artists give their characters kids as soon as the idea comes up. That being said I do have to admit what little you've shared about how they'd be as parents sounds very heartwarming. I'm a sucker for when someone is determined to make sure a kid has it better than they did when they were young like Machete would be, and how that can sometimes help to heal pains from their own childhood. Vasco would be wonderful too of course! He may have had a better childhood but I'm sure there are things he struggled with or wished could've been different. All fun ideas, but if Ear remains as just an idea that is absolutely okay!

Aw it's okay. A tiny bit pressured but in an encouraging/inspiring way, I don't think I'm going to lose sleep over it.

It would be really interesting to see how parenthood would alter their relationship and self-image, it could potentially expand their character into unexpected directions. Ear seems like a likable pup, they'd be a fun character to develope.

On the other hand I'm fond of their dynamic as is, I think they're happy that way. It's still typical that couples are expected to want to have children and start a family, it's seen as the norm and the next logical step after getting married. I like the idea of them feeling content and complete in their relationship even if it's just the two of them, and showing that the absence of offspring doesn't make their union any less valid and committed.

i've been previously complimented on my ability to mimic character voice and prose style (thank you, by the way), and i don't think it occurred to me to explain this because i assumed this was widespread, but this was part of my high school curriculum way back when. is that a thing in other countries? in english class as part of our creative writing we'd be handed a starting page in a particular genre, or tone, or time in history, and it'd cut off mid-sentence and we'd have to continue it. it would test reading comprehension and let the teacher feel out if you had a knack for it before you got moved into a sorted class. you'd get dinged if it scanned wrong and the grading wasn't particularly forgiving. i remember really, really enjoying it. come in, sit down, you're a seventeenth century boatswain, write two thousand words right now

Top 5 artists whose styles inspire you!

Oooh! Five is a lot, I only have a couple that I usually pull out when I get asked this question for homework XD Time to go find a few more good examples!

If it wasn't clear from my gushing about On A Sunbeam, Tillie Walden is at the top of this list. She has absolutely had the strongest influence on the kind of art I make & want to make. Color, style, overal Vibes. I have created multiple different projects in high school and college that drew inspiration from her work.

The other one I usually mention is Malika Favre, for her use of color and limited color palettes. She plays with negative space in ways I do not even aspire to, but I do hope to someday be able to use a simple three-or-four solid-color palette like she does.

Kate Ashwin and her webcomic Widdershins ( @katedrawscomics ) are in many ways Goals for me as far as stylization and overall comic composition things. I really want to improve at moving away from my comfort zone of realism and into more stylization, and it's not that I want my style to look exactly like Kate Ashwin's, it's more that I aspire to the level of comfort and consistency with it that she has.

Likewise, Adrien Lee, creator of the White Noise webcomic ( @thephooka ), has such a comfortable grasp of style and anatomy and emotion. I want to be able to draw (and write) characters that feel as real and expressive as the characters in White Noise. Also comic paneling/layout is an art that I feel I have only begun to grasp at, and he is incredibly skilled at using it to further his storytelling.

Semi-recently I started following several different people who do SFF book cover illustrations on instagram, and ooohing and ahhing over their work. (I found several of them from the Hugo noms lol.) So I'm gonna call this a three-way tie between Eleonor Piteira, Tran Nguyen, and Rovina Cai. Their work all feels well out of my skill level right now but I would love to create gorgeous book cover art like theirs someday.

Sometimes I wonder how quickly during/after the events of Revenge of the Sith Obi Wan put the pieces together and realized he had lied to Anakin, gotten himself shot and then imprisoned, completely changed his appearance (including actually shaving his head/face), almost got killed by Anakin - twice, ingratiated himself with ruthless assassins and bounty hunters, survived a death box, and figured out yet another Dooku trap... All to save Supreme Chancellor Palpatine from Palp's own plots.

Also wonder how long it took Obi Wan to grow his hair and beard back out.

they're all... super different from one another lol. but i'm happy that i experimented so much. and that i've made so many finished pieces compared to the past :)

Back to. What I do best. Which is low to no effort comics. I still feel like I should redesign my teatime Moe BUT... the mental image of this playing out was so powerful.

I've said in the past that a focal part of the dynamic is both of them managing to be extremely affectionate with each other while hesitating to act on their feelings -- however, I also think it's just as important. The fuck around and find out factor. The way Alfonse will just choose violence, sometimes. The way Moe can be really forward (jokingly or just completely forthcoming about it), but gets skiddish and jumpy when that affection is returned. AND. AND. The way Alfonse will just. Do The Most. MORE than The Most. He is returning the energy tenfold. One thing I believe in my heart is that if you think you're weird for something, Alfonse can and WILL prove to you that he can get Weirder about it. This here is a tame example all things considered, but it is an example!
