OH GOD THE RAPTURE IS BURNING (Table of Contents)
While this book has many names and many people in it, all the events and opinions portrayed are fictitious. Some real names were used, with permission, but only for aesthetics’s sake. People often express confusion over some of the emoticons in the story. Most are self-explanatory, but just bear in mind that every one has eyes and a mouth. .w. has the periods as the eyes and the w is related to the "kittyface" of :3, with the former emoticon intended as an expression of humble happiness (something like "Aw, shucks!"). The < in <:D is intended as eyebrows, not a party hat, no matter who tells you otherwise. This story is long. The first draft was started in 2011 and continued until 2013, the second draft finished the story in 2013, the third and fourth drafts were refinements of the whole and came around 2014. The fifth draft added a lot more content, introducing an element you'll see as the "Attacheds," and this came in 2015. This formed the basis for the sixth draft in 2016, which was published on Amazon as the First Edition. That draft saw refinement and tweaking for several years (the seventh draft). What you are looking at now is the Second Edition, the eighth and final draft. The point of all this is: I have had many opportunities to change this story. I have taken many things out. The content and how it is treated will make you uneasy, somewhere, somewhen. It is best to read this story by yourself, where you can feel your emotions rawly and give them space. Privacy is a theme here. There are many more themes for you to discover. Good luck.

devotion by Bernard Trippett, Jr
Rest well.
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” Matthew 11:28, ESV.
Learn to rest well. It requires us to submit to His will and His righteousness and to live with whatever results they bring into our lives. As long as you have done what God has asked you to do, you can rest well because you know what your end will be. Your end will be good because He is good. Based on His character alone, you can know it will turn out well.
You’ve done what you know to do about it. You’ve obeyed God and done your part. God says now step back and let Him do His. Now, rest well.
Prayer: Father, I give you praise today. I thank you that I don’t have to fight or struggle with this. Help me to do what you said, and learn to rest knowing you will handle it, even when it comes to the hearts of others. Help me to submit to your will and righteousness. I will do my part. I give you great praise for doing yours. I trust you, and I choose to abundantly rest. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Study: Matthew 6:33 & 11:28-30, Exodus 33:14, Psalm 37:7 & 127:1-2

THE ALL-IMPORTANT APPOINTMENT!
THE ALL-IMPORTANT APPOINTMENT
Hebrews 9:27

An appointment! We all make appointments for all sorts of things, and the spiritual realm is no different. We make important appointments and ensure to keep them either because they impact and affect other things or because we’ll be penalized for not keeping the appointment. Some appointments are hard to secure and must be met once secured, while some are paid for, and people don’t naturally want to part with money. Therefore, they endeavour to keep these sorts of appointments.
Essentially, we try to keep every appointment we make. Unfortunately, we don’t apply this principle to keeping spiritual appointments.
Even the Lord makes and keeps appointments with us and went as far as creating a space for that to happen in Exodus 25: 17-22. Do you make and keep your appointments with the Father?
Everything in life is appointment-based, declares Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, and then the Lord goes further in Habakkuk 2:2 to understand that every appointment is timed and occurs at its appointed time.
The Bible tells us that each human being has an appointment with God. This appointment is an opportunity for God’s will to be done in our lives, involving acts of love, guidance, and sharing the good news of Jesus Christ.
But these appointments don’t just happen. We must be intentional and deliberate in keeping every divine appointment needed to help us keep the all-important appointment of eternity.
“It is appointed for people to die once—and after this, judgment.” God also has an appointment with His people to meet with Him at a special time, a set time that is out of man’s control and manipulation. Moreover, it is different from other times, even as one’s appointment with a professional like a doctor, dentist, or lawyer is different from another. We must learn to keep divine appointments with the Lord in our prayer time, Bible study, worship, and even the gathering of the saints as seen in Leviticus 23:4 and Hebrew 10:25, respectively.
Job 14:5 says, “Since his days are determined, the number of his months is with You; and his limits You have set so that he cannot pass.” Unlike natural and professional appointments that we can pick, organize, and make ourselves, no mortal man can work outside the limits that God has set and determine their divine appointment. The initial divine appointment is first made when we accept Christ as Saviour, but the responsibility to maintain the appointment is on us.
God is always working to bring about His sovereign purposes in our lives. And according to Romans 8:28-30, God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love Him and are called according to His purpose for them.
In the same way, the Lord has mandated an appointed time for His will to come to pass in our lives. God requires us to wait for those appointments, in whatever capacity we need, to happen at God’s designated time. We must avoid becoming overly preoccupied with dramatic divine appointments, looking for them at every turn. Our sinful nature may be tempted to seek signs and confirmations from people who make us feel especially loved by God and significant in His kingdom, but we must learn to not just wait on God but wait for and keep divine appointments.
The woman at the well had no idea that she had an appointment with Jesus at the well, but how glorious that she kept that appointment and surrendered and drank from God’s eternal fountain of living water in John 4:7–38.
The most crucial divine appointment of our lives is the moment we responded to God’s voice calling us to come to Him, repent of our sins, and be saved as seen in John 6:44 and Hebrews 3:8. Every day and every moment in our relationship with Jesus is a divine appointment. Make the appointment, and keep it as declared in Psalm 118:24.
PRAYER: Lord, help me to always keep my appointment with you with the hope of making the all-important appointment of eternity in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Shalom

God’s Anointing and Power in Our Lives
Mankind in a fallen, captive state, is incapable of rising to the high stature, high calling of God. Thanks be to God, for the anointing that removes burdens and breaks the yokes of sin, that keeps us bound.
God anointed Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, with the Holy Ghost and with power, who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him. (See Acts 10:38)
"The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound; to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all who mourn, to console those who mourn in Zion, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified." (Isaiah 61:1-3)
At God's appointed time, "The Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil." (1 John 3:8)
Jesus who appeared in the flesh, and was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin, was able to resist the devil, and cast Him out of many, for He was full of the Holy Ghost and power. This Jesus, is calling disciples to Himself, to live holy lives, and to proclaim the good news of salvation in the earth, with signs and wonders following.
All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:18-20)
"Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the spirits are subject to you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven."  (Luke 10:19-20)
In order to be effective ambassadors for Christ, we must be sanctified and consecrated vessels, reconciled to God, fruitful in every good work; bringing glory to His name.
"And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live." (Romans 8:10-11)
"Do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit. (Ephesians 5:18)
"Now He who establishes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God, who also has sealed us and given us the Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee." (2 Corinthians 1:21 and 22)
A Prayer:
All thanks and praise to God our Father, for Christ His Son: Prophet, Priest and King; for the blessing of the Holy Spirit, and the anointing that breaks the yokes, and sets us free; for the power to daily walk in the Spirit; for a new and living way; for an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, that doesn't fade away. Amen.

Numbers in the Bible are significant! Over the next few weeks I'm going to share the meaning of some of them. (Although, this is just what we humans think they mean. Only God really knows what He means by all the numbers in the Bible. Amen!)
“The Meaning of Numbers in the Bible: The Number 40” By Kevin Halloran:
“Mentioned 146 times in Scripture, the number 40 generally symbolizes a period of testing, trial or probation. During Moses' life, he lived forty years in Egypt and forty years in the desert before God selected him to lead his people out of slavery.
Moses was also on Mount Sinai for 40 days and nights, on two separate occasions (Exodus 24:18, 34:1 - 28), receiving God's laws. He also sent spies, for forty days, to investigate the land God promised the Israelites as an inheritance (Numbers 13:25, 14:34).
The prophet Jonah powerfully warned ancient Nineveh, for forty days, that its destruction would come because of its many sins. The prophet Ezekiel laid on His right side for 40 days to symbolize Judah's sins (Ezekiel 4:6).
Elijah went 40 days without food or water at Mount Horeb. Jesus was tempted by the devil many times during the 40 complete days he fasted just before his ministry began. He also appeared to his disciples and others for 40 days after his resurrection from the dead.
The number forty can also represent a generation of man. Because of their sins after leaving Egypt, God swore that the generation of Israelites who left Egyptian bondage would not enter their inheritance in Canaan (Deuteronomy 1). The children of Israel were punished by wandering the wilderness for 40 years before a new generation was allowed to possess the Promised Land.
Jesus, just days before his crucifixion, prophesied the total destruction of Jerusalem (Matthew 24:1 - 2, Mark 13:1 - 2). Forty years after his crucifixion in 30 A.D., the mighty Roman Empire destroyed the city and burned its beloved temple to the ground.
Appearances of the number forty: The book of Exodus, with its 40 chapters and 1,213 verses, is the seventh longest book. The longest is the Psalms.
From the time they entered the Promised Land, to the time of King Saul, Israel was sporadically governed by a number of individuals known as Judges. Though they did not rule like a king, they nevertheless had a tremendous influence on the people, as they represented God and were inspired to execute his will. Judges who served 40 years include Othniel, Deborah and Barak, Eli and Gideon.
The first three human kings over the children of Israel, Saul, David and Solomon, each ruled for forty years (1050 to 930 B.C.). After the united kingdom split into two separate pieces, King Joash served forty official years (39 actual years) as one of Judah's better kings.
Abraham tried to bargain with God to not destroy Sodom and Gomorrah if forty righteous people were found (Genesis 18:29). Both Isaac and Esau were forty years old when they were first married (Genesis 25:20, 26:34).
God flooded the earth by having it rain for forty days and nights (Genesis 7:12). After the patriarch Jacob (Israel) died in Egypt, the Egyptians spent forty days embalming his body (Genesis 50:3).”
These are just some of the examples of the number 40 in the Bible. And the Bible was written by forty different people! Now, none of this is “coincidence.” Amen!

How does God view our problems?
Tumblr media
Matthew 6:26-30
Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? 1 Peter 5:7
Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about what happens to you. God cares about you and your problems.
Psalm 145:14
The Lord helps the fallen and lifts up those bent beneath their loads.
Matthew 10:29-31
What is the price of two sparrows—one copper coin? But not a single sparrow can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs on your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are more valuable to God than a whole flock of sparrows. Matthew 11:28
Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.". God is not only aware of your problems, he wants to help you resolve them. He is with you in them.
1 Peter 5:10
After you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.
2 Corinthians 4:9
We are hunted down, but God never abandons us. We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going.
Hebrews 4:14-16
So then, since we have a great High Priest who has entered heaven, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to what we believe. This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin. So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive his mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most. God will never desert those who follow him. He doesn’t take the day off and forget about you. When you accidentally cut yourself, you become completely focused on how bad it is and on how to stop the bleeding. All you want to do is get rid of the pain. In the same way, your problems and troubles can focus you so much on getting rid of the pain that you neglect God, forgetting that he has promised to help you in your difficulties. But to abandon you, God would have to cease loving you, and he cannot do that, for he is love.
Exodus 4:10-12
But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m just not a good speaker. I never have been, and I’m not now, even after you have spoken to me. I’m clumsy with words.” “Who makes mouths?” the Lord asked him. “Who makes people so they can speak or not speak, hear or not hear, see or not see? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go, and do as I have told you. I will help you speak well, and I will tell you what to say.”
God specifically addresses your problems with trustworthy, sure solutions. When you take your problems to God, you can rely on him to deal with them. But expect that he will deal with them his way, which is always in your best interests. Often he uses your problems to help you grow.
Acts 8:4
But the believers who had fled Jerusalem went everywhere preaching the Good News about Jesus.
Philippians 1:12-14
And I want you to know, dear friends, that everything that has happened to me here has helped to spread the Good News. For everyone here, including all the soldiers in the palace guard, knows that I am in chains because of Christ. And because of my imprisonment, many of the Christians here have gained confidence and become more bold in telling others about Christ.
Romans 8:28
And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
God may use your problems to lead you in a new direction for a new assignment. The closed door of one problem may reveal an open door elsewhere. He can turn your problems into an avenue for his work.

Is Divination Demonic???
Tumblr media
Every time I hear a Christian or other non-ATR adherent say that divination is demonic, I get frustrated. This is primarily because this sentiment is often directed toward non-Christian forms of divination. Even more, I am confused by their lack of knowledge of the Bible.
Partly, I get it because I was once there myself. I was taught that engaging in divination practices such as astrology, tarot reading, palmistry, crystal ball gazing, and other forms of seeking supernatural knowledge or guidance outside of ‘the God of the Bible’ is evil and of the devil.
However, even then, I was perplexed by the notion that divination is considered evil. That’s because it is performed on several occasions throughout the Bible and even in the Apocrypha. This practice was also ordained by God, and the gift of divination was specifically given to the Levitical priesthood.
Though there were instances where divination was condemned in the Bible. Particularly, this occurred when it was performed by individuals who didn’t follow the Hebrew God. However, various forms of divination were very much so alive and active among the Hebrews. Even in instances where it was condemned, seers, prophets, etc., were deemed to be accurate and skilled in their craft.
In other instances, the ‘God of the Bible’ clearly outlined when, where, who, and how divination should be performed. See below for specific examples:
The Urim and Thummim (Exodus 28:30, Numbers 27:21): The Urim and Thummim were sacred objects kept in the breastplate of the high priest of Israel. They were used to seek divine guidance or answers to questions. Exactly how they functioned is not clear, but they were similar to divination practices performed in ATR.
The Casting of Lots: In several instances in the Old Testament, lots were cast as a means of seeking God's guidance or making decisions. For example, lots were cast to determine the allocation of land (Joshua 18:6-10) and to select leaders (1 Samuel 14:41-42, Acts 1:26). ATR priests and priestesses still cast lots in various forms.
Ephod and Divination by the Priesthood (1 Samuel 23:6-12, 1 Samuel 30:7-8): In the times of the Old Testament, the high priest or another priest sometimes used the ephod, a special garment, for seeking divine guidance. Through the ephod, they could inquire of the Lord and receive answers. This notion is very similar to masquerades used in ancestor veneration practices throughout the continent.
Daniel Interprets Dreams (Daniel 2, 4): Daniel, a prophet in the Old Testament, interpreted dreams and visions. Dream interpretation is still very much an active part of African culture.
The Casting of Gideon's Fleece (Judges 6:36-40): Gideon, a judge of Israel, asked God for a sign to confirm His will regarding the upcoming battle against the Midianites. He requested that God make a wool fleece wet with dew while keeping the ground dry and then the reverse. God granted both requests and through this, Gideon gained confidence in God's guidance.
The Magi and the Star of Bethlehem (Matthew 2:1-12): The Magi from the East observed a star that they interpreted as a sign of the birth of a king in Judea. They traveled to Jerusalem to inquire about this event and seek the newborn king. Their methods involved interpreting celestial signs, which is basically astrology.
There are many more examples of divinatory practices throughout the Bible and the Apocrypha. These were ultimately forms of spiritual communication that had been employed for centuries by our ancestors.
While there is such a thing as spiritual communication with evil forces, similar to Christian beliefs, ATR does not condone or endorse these methods. Such techniques are clearly deemed to be demonic and destructive according to African spiritual beliefs. It is definitely possible to consort with wicked forces for evil purposes.
So, to answer the question, divination can be demonic. However, it should not automatically be deemed as such when performed outside of a Christian context. Our ancestors have been engaging in such practices for centuries. And these practices have brought them solace, comfort, and guidance in their time of need.
Divination is not inherently evil when performed outside of mainstream religious belief systems. Nor is it inherently good when performed within such systems. Seeking Divine knowledge is an age-old practice that has been performed by many individuals since time immemorial.
It is ultimately wicked or evil when done with the intent of connecting with vile spirits for sinister purposes. Likewise, it can be harmful when performed by someone without proper knowledge of what it is or the apparatuses they are using to do it. However, it is beneficial and useful when done to connect with good and benevolent energies to achieve balance, harmony, and wholeness.
