Now I’m Not Saying That I Should Be Allowed To Design Servants For Fate, But....

Summer Unit, Caster Chiron has Arrived! As the immortal Caretaker and Teacher of Mount Pelion, there’s little doubt that he knows all the tips and tricks to survive a coastal month in the sun. What’s that? The Constellation is wrong? Sagittarius? Don’t be silly, Chiron’s always embodied the Constellation Centaurus. Always.

That "Always" bit is meant to be somewhat ominous which hints at the whole "rewriting and creating heroes" idea in my last post about this Eternal Summer Stage event.

And if i am to be 100% honest, I don't quite like the final result still in terms of the toga, however, I know that if I keep working on it it will never get done and that's just the way that artists are lol. The effects and everything else though? Beyond what I was even expecting for it to turn out as.

Anywho.

In terms of design, I was mostly just going for the "Dad who has the Cooler" with a casual look for the first two designs and the costume dress really isn't a drastic change either just being called Hatless. The final ascension was a more divine feel where you get that connection with the stars and space that Chiron has due to his constellations. The Costume change there is just "Divine Blessing". I honestly couldn't pick between the two colors so. Costume Dress.

So. Anyways. Each of the stars in the final ascension design are the major "Centauri" stars within Centaurus, the Constellation that Chiron/his NP is embodying here rather than Sagittarius.

The large star that Chiron has in hand is Theta Centauri, also called Menkent, and then the ones on the staff are Alpha-Gamma Centauri.

The top three stars are Alpha Centauri or Rigil Kentaurus and Toliman, and Proxima Centauri. The three make up the full Alpha Centauri as the two blue stars are a binary system that Proxima orbits

The middle two are Beta Centauri or Hadar and Agena, another binary star pair

The lower two are Gamma Centauri which is another binary star group but are unnamed

Actually, the myth of Centaurus is a little wonky because certain texts refer to Centaurus as the Father of all Centaurs and the constellation is because he put an image of himself in the sky where others point to it being the other constellation that Zeus turned Chiron into instead of Sagittarius. Honestly, I'm more inclined to the latter due to conflicting texts about mount Pelion and the Centaurs themselves as it's implied that Chiron was already on Pelion before the other Centaurs arrived in some texts

("The Kentauroi were spawned by the cloud-nymph Nephele after she was violated by the impious Lapith king Ixion. She deposited her double-formed brood on Mount Pelion where they were nursed by the daughters of the immortal kentauros Kheiron (Chiron).")

So at least in this/my version of Myth/Fate, Centaurus is Chiron as a Caster and Healer but no less a teacher, rather than the more combat-ready and "war-like" Sagittarius.

I don't have everything mapped out, but I do have skills and NP sorta created, if I actually ever get to the full thing, who is to say lmao.

Noble Phantasm: Hunt of Lupus: Protector of Mount Pelion | Quick

A single target Noble Phantasm much like Antares Snipe, however, while Sagittarius uses a bow, Centaurus uses his staff to sweep through and pierce the body of Lupus. This is the story of Chiron. However, here, his job is not finished. The slaying of "Lupis" ends, and thus the Teacher and protector of Pelion returns to those he protects and tends to them.

At its base, one could call it the Single Target version of Geronimo's Tsago Degi Naleya in which it deals damage and heals the party after.

"Entrust to me the stars and my Guiding hand shall lead you, o watchmen of the night. I encircle myself twice with the seven heavenly bodies so that I may continue my role among the stars. You who has woken me, fall. Hunt of Lupus."

Truth be told, still workshopping the Noble Phantasm, but it's fine, it's out there as a concept. It's a lot like Antares Snipe though, I guess? Because I did want to lean into the Greek and Constellation side of things and just. Oh well. Originally, though, I was going to make Chiron and Chariclo one Servant, and then have their Noble Phantasm be Chariclo's ("Lifeblood of Mount Pelion") but then split them up because idk I enjoy hell. They're both casters though, because I refuse to put more Rulers into the already bloated Ruler cast.

I do not have voice lines at the moment despite the fact that I have all of Chariclo and all of Agravain's finished lol

Summer Incarnated Elemental: A+

Transforming her Spiritron Origin into a swimsuit has no bearing on her incarnated Elemental state, but it has slightly optimized her for the summer. Her magic energy absorption efficiency increases when drawn from summer-related environments, such as water from a lake summer spot or dazzling sunlight. This method may seem unbecoming of a blood-feeder, but Yu herself doesn’t seem bothered by it.

Her preferences have not changed at all, so you might see her out sunbathing all the while complaining about the heat.

The Conqueror’s Consort: EX

This is a skill she reacquired after having reunited with Xiang Yu at Chaldea. It defines her position as the Hegemon-King of Western Chu’s wife/lover, as well as signifies the strong bond they share.

Changing into a swimsuit has garnered more unwelcomed attention from others, to which Yu responds with an even stronger assertion: “I am this man’s wife!” In a sense, this may perhaps be a manifestation of her faithfulness.

Dance From the Bygone Days: EX

This skill represents the sword dance she once performed before Xiang Yu. While she is firm with her distaste for human culture and sees no point in imitating them, she would occasionally bend that mindset for her beloved. 

She can’t tell if she’s objectively decent at it. She doesn’t give a damn about how others evaluate her for it. What she does know is that dancing was, at times, necessary. Xiang Yu’s evaluation of her dance and the look on his face as he watched her were between the two of them. That moment, along with this skill, was deeply engraved into her Spirit Origin as a precious memory.

This skill was designed to be sealed and unusable without Xiang Yu nearby. But this time around, the impact of his spear being loaned to her has broken the seal and made it usable through the spear functioning as Xiang Yu’s substitute of some sort. 

It has now been arranged to be a spear dance.

NOBLE PHANTASM

Anti-Fling Rondo (The Spear Dance to End Summer Monsters) Rank: A | Type: Anti-Army NP | Range: 1-10 | Maximum targets: 20

Anti-Fling Rondo.

Fling is slang for “affair” or “one-summer love,” and by extension points to the summer monsters mentioned in the event. The spear Xiang Yu loaned to her, (or as she believes to be) the embodiment of his love, serves as an anti-summer monster measure. It packs an anti-male attack bonus stemming from her over-the-top prejudiced view.

Although Yu had no experience in martial arts or tactics, her love for Xiang Yu turning up a notch was what evoked the memories of the sword dance she once performed before him. This then gave her the idea of rearranging the choreography into a spear dance. For some reason, this Noble Phantasm turned out to resemble pole dancing.

It works in the same way as her original Noble Phantasm “Eternal Lament” in that she lets her magical energy run amok to generate abnormal weather as she destroys her physical form. What makes it different, however, is the use of Xiang Yu’s spear as the axis of her movements: Gaining a spinning trajectory generates a tornado-shaped curse instead of a rain of blood.

Her eternal lament has transformed into a rondo of death.

She’s not much different than usual, except that she is feeling slightly giddier after Xiang Yu loaned her his spear. And because she feels a stronger bond with him than ever, while she still hates humanity as a whole, her mercilessness particularly towards flirts who make advances on her has gone up a notch. Death to flirts.

[Her Noble Phantasm] activates on those (she accuses of) making eye at her even if they never did hit on her. 

Simply put, expect the possibility of a spear flying your way just by catching a glimpse of her swimsuit form. “Well, what can I say? Anything to remain faithful to my Lord Xiang Yu,” she retorts.

〇 MOTIVE/ATTITUDE TOWARDS HER MASTER

She’s not much different than usual, except that she’s even more head over heels for Xiang Yu.

〇 FGO Biography

This version of Consort Yu was one of the Servants featured in the 2020 summer event “Servant Summer Camp ~Chaldea’s Thriller Night~.”

She was all set and ready to head to the Singularity for a vacation with Xiang Yu post-mission. Unfortunately,  Xiang Yu’s calculations led him to the conclusion that, even if he must deceive her, it would be best she Rayshift without him. Shaken, her pillar of support in all this was the spear Xiang Yu loaned to her beforehand as well as the love it emanated.

After all, he did warn her about the dangers of summer monsters.

Yu found herself wondering what the so-called “summer monsters” are, later on finding out that the term is sometimes used to refer to the tendency of getting carried away and being prone to making mistakes such as hookups during the summer. “In other words, Lord Xiang Yu was worried I’d get hit on, so he gave this to me as protection!?” The love she felt has her at a fever pitch.

(The truth remains unknown… Xiang Yu’s calculations did initially inform him of the “presence of threat/s” and the “possibility of said threat/s being monsters,” but he may have phrased it as such simply because it was summertime, not necessarily aware of the definition of the slang.)

While she was utterly dejected that Xiang Yu was not around, she did not dwell on it completely. Using his love as her driving force, she was set on clearing this Singularity ASAP so that the two of them can finally go on a leisurely vacation together… Thus Yu commandingly led her unreliable Kouhai by the hand.

She ended up dying multiple times. Again and again and again as if on a spree. She even split herself in two like a planaria. From the very start of this event, in fact.

Iunno, it’s still static sprites that go on a pre-rigged skeleton. It isn’t that much more work. Source: I’ve literally worked on mobile game that uses similar techniques. That said the characters I worked on aren’t nearly as dynamic as they’re only seen from the waist up, but looking at limbo’s animations they need just a couple alternate arms and hands for the most part. Plus there are three variants it feels like they intended a full separate summer servant and then went with costume instead.

i debated answering this bc if i have to see more posts about this subject ill scream but im tired and petty atm and honestly feel like we're not even asking them to make MORE servants just like

instead of making it so its 7 female summer alts and 3 male costumes just make 6 female alts and one summer male alt as a test drive or something. like its frustrating to see people making posts about how the devs couldnt make more costumes for the men bc of crunch time the extra female costumes are more simple etc etc etc like that isnt really the point? the point is that constantly giving ppl 7 of one kind and 3 lesser versions of the other is unfair and people ARE allowed to wish theyd put a little less effort into one side and more into the other, even if the posts DO get annoying. like the valkyrie welfare has six alts- and yes, yes theyre all very similar with basically only the hairstyle changed but have we EVER had a male welfare with a similar amount of attention given to them? are we now not allowed to be annoyed that they couldnt...idk give tai sui his grown up form as a costume as well (which DOES have a sprite, it shows up in his np, even if theyd have to animate some more movement) without someone coming in chiding us for not being appropriately considerate of how hard the devs work?

i KNOW game development is hard and there's a lot of work that goes into it especially with how detailed and intricate fgo sprites are, but theyve persistently been given feedback that people want this and have done nothing to acknowledge it except doing in-game actions which, to the people who are asking for it, can read a lot like taunting or mockery. yeah, it's nice that they included the extra art hasendow did, but doing it for a wildly popular guy after a tidal wave of people begging for more male alts last year reads a LOT differently than the outfit for shuten douji, who has a welfare alt as well as her 'other self' in the event in a swimsuit. do you understand what im saying? ibuki and douman were released at the same time, and one was VASTLY more popular and profitable, but only one got a multi-ascension alt with a bonus costume and i think it isnt actually unreasonable for his fans to feel put out by that.

like, idk, i just think people are more upset than usual this year bc after all the fallout last year with how bad it was it had felt like fgo was actually getting more equal with how it treated it's cast-and with the announcement that there was going to be three ssrs, i legitimately thought that they WERE going to do a male summer alt, but were worried about the reception so weren't messing with the number of female summer ssrs-and i think other people thought that as well! but instead they continued with the same pattern they've always done, EXCEPT that they made 3 of the summer female alts ssrs instead of 2- which shows they're willing to buck tradition but not in the way people are asking for. the male summer alt thing isnt a new problem, they've had ample time to know that people have really really wanted it, they just dont want to do it, and its really annoying that when you complain about it you get a rush of people coming to defend the devs in various ways-they can't do summer alts of the men NOW bc what about the previous men who already got costumes, they cant do summer alts of the men NOW bc they just changed companies, they can't do summer alts of the men NOW bc they never did before, etc etc etc its just annoying like ok. i get it. you dont want to hear people complain! but if working on all these alts is so hard they can also cut down on the number of female alts...

like does this make sense? i know this is incoherent and probably whiny im just tired of whenever people are like 'hey can we actually change this annoying aspect of the game' people rush in to explain why it's impossible for it to change. they also said that about pity and quick casters and a whole bunch of other stuff that they then changed more recently, people were allowed to get their hopes up even if it was 'premature of them'

I am surprised lb6 didn't get a summer event already. Then again with how things are going it'll just be a Morgan and Castoria event. The devs kind of forgot about the other fae knights.

There seems to be about a 2 year lag on LB servants debuting and them showing up in Summer events - I think I read somewhere that FGO is always about two years or so ahead on its releases, and they probably want to see how well received a servant is before deciding to give them a swimsuit.

Götterdämmerung and SIN late 2018 -> Yu Mei Ren, Bryn unit, Sigurd and Prince of Lanling skin, Consort Yu-centric plot in Summer 2020.

India, Olympus/Atlantis mid-late 2019/early 2020 -> Kama, Caenis, Corday, Achilles & Mandricardo Summer in 2021, etc.

There's definitely a lean towards servants from LBs that released two years prior. That isn't a hard rule though...

That even holds up in Summer 2022; 2020 gave us Heian-Kyo, the Requiem Event and Merlin Prototype dropping in Arcade, and who should show up but Lady Avalon, Summer Ibuki, Summer Erice and a Douman skin.

So if the two year lag theory is true, then British Summer should definitely be next year, once they've confirmed how popular the characters are and have had enough time to write/produce it. The real question is who the welfare and male skins are going to be. Muramasa, CasCu and Percival are all strong contenders...

Also, the Fae Knights featured in the most recent Morgan/Britomart event, though that event didn't have much of a story mode.

I got a complaint for a game you know little about, but DAMN do I hate Fate/Grand Order's summer events. One could argue that other gacha games (Like Genshin or Arknights) are a little more balanced in terms of appealing to both male players and female players

but not FGO, no. Absolutely not. It pretty much panders to male players, and female players get scraps.

Every summer event, FGO rolls out a handful of ladies in swimsuits that are servants on their own (as in, they get new ascension forms and new outfits per ascension stage, unless they're the servant that the event just GIVES you, also known as a welfare servant). This new event has SIX ladies in swimsuits! Six new waifus for the dudes

But us gals? We get 3 male "costumes". They aren't servants on their own, they don't get new outfits per ascension, they're just costumes you slap on your base servant (not saying that that's BAD or anything, it just feels a bit unfair, also I don't know how they choose which dudes get costumes. Like, Okada Izo is one of the most popular male servants and he still has yet to get a swimsuit costume)

And it's not like it's only ladies who complain about this, FGO has a bad track record of pumping out as many lady servants as they can, but if they introduce new dudes during an event, a lot of them get put in NPC jail, even though there's tons of people (all genders) who want them to be servants as well.

But damn, as a lady who plays FGO, you can really feel the inequality here.

Yeah I mean you say Genshin is more balanced but even then it too has a vast majority of female characters and so far theyve got all the costumes with the exception of Dilucs new one (and if leaks are to be believed the next set of costumes are ALSO for female characters)

Thats just the way it goes it seems. Thirsty male players will shell out a lot for their waifus so may as well put your resources into that. Theres also the fact that girls get more leeway with costumes, theyre more versatile.. men dont have as many options.(because people are cowards.)

Because I play both Housamo and FGO at the same time, I have to joke about the fact that they usually have their summer events at the same time and how Lifewonders clowns on Delightworks with their releases of Male swimsuit units + one or two female units. FGO has a forever curse of no male swimsuit units sans Caeneus LMAO

I don’t like to complain too much about summer stuff these days because it does seem a bit pointless, obviously if they haven’t decided to implement summer guys after six years they aren’t going to, but it still grinds my gears when I see people say there’s nothing to be salty about.

1. Took us 3 years to finally get some semblance of summer boys in fgo- costumea instead of proper alts, and only 3 while there are still 7 new alts for the girls.

2. After one year they stopped doing actual swimsuit costumes for the boys, putting them in casual clothing instead, we’re lucky if they’re wearing shorts.

I think it’s perfectly justifiable to be annoyed with the ‘Summer’ guys just wearing regular old outfits for the most part (Gao Changgong and Achilles are the only ones who at least have visually interesting and unique outfits even if Gao Changgong’s doesn’t exactly fit the theme, but then again neither does Sigurd’s so who the fuck cares I guess), while the summer girls get increasingly elaborate designs and just concepts for their summer alts.

The summer girls are great, but it would be great to see that love given to the guys for once- and it’s incredibly annoying that every year without fail we have some chucklefucks scolding people for complaining about the lack of fanservice for male servants during The Yearly Fanservice Event™️. Like wow, the people who get a plethora of cool and hot servants to ogle every year without fail are going to lecture us about not getting content? Okay. Because you definitely know what you’re talking about lmao.

‘Ooooh, but it’s a waifu game, you should be lucky male characters are in it at all!!!!’ Eat my entire ass Kevin, you’re annoying and literally every other gacha game with male and female characters has both male and female summer units, fgo is the outlier here and it’s purely because they’re stubborn and would rather lose money than pander to people who are attracted to men.

I decided that I better post the first and second ascensions before I went insane and did the third fully. Circe’s staff is a placeholder, but once I have all three I’ll post this again lol

Anyways, did you know that there’s almost zero muscular guys with their legs showing fully? I worked with Caligula but it was still a bit of a trial. There’s a lot more of guys who wear armor and leg coverings than you’d think!

I used and edited assets from Summer Robin Hood, Summer Blackbeard, and Waver (shirt), Rider Da Vinci (ponytail... hair not uh, horse tail), Summer Marie, Kiara, and Kiyohime (hat and flowers) , Caligula (as stated above), Summer Costume and Alter Emiya (Torso and cooler), and Lancer Arturia Alter (horse ears). Saddle bag and towel were hand done and everything else was taken and edited from Chiron’s own assets.

Not including the Draft Layers, Two Ascensions end up close to 400 Layers which seems like a lot but when you factor in the combination of color, lineart, shading and the shirt’s texturing, its a lot. Fate’s sprites are all cut up so you gotta make sure it all fits, yeah?

Anyways (again), I have a general plot line for the Summer Event with Caster Summer Chiron (tentatively called Eternal Summer Stage / Lost Summer Stage) and also the individual sets below the cut as well as the taglist

In general, I’m thinking that kinda like the Hawai’i event, this one takes place in Greece, but things are really different — either the nation’s been condensed or it’s impossible to tell where you are in Greece, even for the Greeks.

The premise is that something or someone is creating an influx of energy there, causing an unbalance or some shit but while the threat level is low, allowing for you to take your time (as all Summer events do), it still needs to be dealt with.

Chiron is your main companion Servant though he’s not the welfare one. He, alongside of a rather enthusiastic Li Shuwen and unmasked Berserker Lancelot— both of which are also Summer Servants for the first half wave (Li being either Saber or Berserker) and Lancelot being a Lancer but still Berserker’s more mellowed and gloomy character.

(Costume dress Servants are still up in the air but I’m weighing more on Hans Christian Biggerson and Geronimo, with the long overdue Hawai’i Cu, and Medusa)

Upon arrival, there’s all sorts of plays and performances going on up and down the coast and further inland where there’s a large village up against a Mountain. Both myth and man are mingling, to which Medusa and Chiron both note to be something much out of an ancient sort of tale (hence why Chiron can take his true form and no one cares).

The first half of the event is mostly solving the mystery of what this influx of energy even is— which is where you meet the second Summer Servants for the first half. Technically not Summer in terms of Class change, Ching Shih is the first you meet, dressed in that event’s other Costume Dress for her summer look. She’s happy to help, though there seems to be something a bit off about how easily things start to pop up after that. Plays pertaining to [    ] and other tales, along with even more heroic legends being spun and told. At night, you often run into an unknown woman who sits and chats with you about things as well.

All the while, Chiron seems to become more and more troubled as time goes on.

One night, however, you wander outside the inn because you can’t sleep only to get attacked by rouge Servants. This is when the second meeting happens— and it’s the “Dark fellow” that Ching Shih has been talking about. None other than Sir Agravain of Iron is here.

Though he recognizes you, he doesn’t say much on the matter, simply defeating the rouge Servants and sending them back to the Throne mercilessly. Post fight, Chiron arrives with Ching Shih and Li Shuwen and Agravain is formally introduced.

(There’s an entire thing about him wearing black armor and then you get his costume dress for free)

After that, the reveal that there’s all sorts of half-phantom-half-servants or rouge servants hiding about is finally confirmed though you’ve been fighting shadows and monsters before, the real task is at hand.

In general throughout the farming periods, the Servants will state that they are splitting up to investigate the area, kinda like the very first summer event where each location is a little bit of a sub story (Lancer-lot and Cu are at the shore investigating traces of magical energy with Geronimo, Li Shuwen and Medusa are investigating the plays and performances with Ching Shih, Biggerson and Agravain are in the town investigating there) so that’s there to get the rest of the costume dresses in the shop (Ching Shih, Cu, Medusa, Biggerson, Gero, etc)

The second half has much more to do with Chiron than the first, though he’s your companion for the first half.

Achilles joins the group, though like Ching Shih, he seems a bit odd, but he arrives and arrives with startling news which kicks off the second half of the event— the mountain against the town is Mount Pelion, the Birthplace of Greek Heroes.

This, of Course, has Chiron absolutely of kilter because suddenly he’s home. Ching Shih admits that she feels like a majority of the Singularity’s power is coming from the Mountain but didn’t want to risk going there because it’s crawling with phantom-servants— which only spurs Chiron to restate that he should still go to investigate there.

Everyone decides to go after that, because Chiron clearly isnt about to just up and let it go.

As you go through the mountain you learn a bit more about it from Chiron and Achilles, and Medusa inputs some that she knows. Agravain and Lancelot get into a minor fight, but it’s settled by Hans mostly, the usually in-between stuff.

Oh and did I mention that during this time there’s also cutscenes and non battle story from an unknown person’s POV within another space? Because there is.

In general, I’m still working out the middle chunks, but the ending is pretty much the arrival at Chiron’s Cave, only to be met by the mysterious woman who you’ve been talking to at night. It turns out that she’s Chariclo and she admits— or seems to admit— that she’s been summoning Servants from between the lines of history and Servants that normally have been gotten overlooked for some reason or another due to either being seen as not heroic enough, prejudiced factors, or they’ve simply been forgotten.

Some other stuff happens, and right when she’s about to say something pretty important you’re interrupted... by you.

Another version of you has arrived and it turns out that while Chariclo has been summoning and maintaining Servants, it wasn’t her choice. The other You has been having her do so in order to find [     ] and you know who that is— how could you not?

An argument breaks out, the other You is convinced that Chariclo has already summoned That Man, and while she doesn’t deny it, she states she can’t let the Other You into the Cave because it’ll ruin things. the Other You is determined, and perhaps a bit irrational with obsession to see That Man again and orders the Shadows to attack.

While almost every Servant is there for support, Achilles is not, and when the battles are done you realize why as Achilles stands by the Other You.

Chariclo is firm, continuing to refuse entry into the cave, and the Other You has had enough. Achilles is revealed to have not been Chaldea’s Achilles and apologizes before he’s ordered to kill Chariclo. Obviously, Chiron’s not about that, and takes the blow, severely wounding him.

Of course, this causes a chain reaction, as Li Shuwen and Agravain immoderately go for the kill on Achilles— the Other You makes a move for the Cave, you intercept Yourself because even though Chariclo might not have been a full alley, she had protected the Cave vehemently, Medusa and the others hold off the others are still fighting the shadows, before the mountain shakes.

While not dead, Chiron’s blood on Chariclo’s hands is enough to pull her from her passive state and forge a temporary contract with you. In combination, you and Chariclo stop the Other You and there’s a long conversation about grief and letting go before You and the shadows leave— either fading away or just leaving.

Once gone, Chariclo immediately has you bring Chiron into the cave so she can start healing him.

This is where you meet your welfare— none other than Romani Archaman himself. He’s weak, of course, but there and its a big reunion moment only to be interrupted by the Singularity destabilizing now that the Other You is gone.

There’s conflict, of course. Chariclo wasn’t lying when she said that Romani was too unstable to bring back. Similarly, the only reason she was able to appear, that she knows of, is because they are at Mount Pelion meaning she too is too unstable to follow a Rayshift. Unless a Holy Grail is used.

A choice is presented that you have to make, but all your choices are Romani, no matter how much you or Chiron want to bring Chariclo back as well. When you make your choice, Chariclo will present you a Grail and admit she didn’t use it on Romani at first because she was terrified what the Other You would do when Romani was stable.

With Romani Stabilized, everyone moves to head back down the Mountain for a rayshift back, but Chiron lingers. There’s grief, of course, but the two must say goodbye once more.

... Only, upon arriving in Chaldea, it turns out to not be the case.

Upon Chiron’s injury, Chariclo’s Noble Phantasm, “Lifeblood of Pelion”, quite literally used Chiron’s blood as fuel upon it being soaked into the ground. While they’re not the same as Ryoma and Oryou, as they’re separate Servants, Chiron and Chariclo’s origins linked and allowed for her to exist in Chaldea as another Caster. it’s a bittersweet ending, as Ching Shih and Agravain did not follow— but it’s no worry. Ching Shih stated that she’d see you again, and Agravain, while he didn’t say so, simply nodded in response.

( * Basically Ching Shih and Agravain are added to the permanent summon pool with Ching Shih being a 5* Rider and Agravain a 3* Assassin )

Chaldea Achilles remains extremely put out that he had been the one to harm Chariclo in the Singularity— and also annoyed he couldn’t go because he was busy making sure that Herc didn’t go off the rails.

Post event, the usual collection of the other 4 copies for the np5 welfare are unlocked along with a costume dress for Romani. Who is a Shielder class Servant.

So yeah. That’s basically the bare-bones of the idea. I don’t quite remember where the Shielder Romani idea came from but I saw a post on it and filed it away in my brain forever. The only reason Medusa, Cu, and Gero aren’t full servants is because I really couldn’t think of good classes for them. The only ones I can really think of for Gero is Avenger, and Medusa has alts for lancer and avenger, and Cu has alts for saber caster and berseker... also there’s the Servant pool of Ching Shih, Agravain, Chariclo, Chiron, and Li Shuwen, which is a hefty number even if the first two are perma summon.

If Third Asc Chiron doesn’t obliterate my soul then I’m probably going to work on Summer Li Shuwen next, or the Costume Dress trio of Gero, Medusa, and Cu. Then we’ll see about making those sprites where there’s no character base to use at all.. I might die (jk)

But when I do post the third ascension I’m going to include hatless Chiron because he’s got a lil bow hair tie and the horse ears are CUTE as hell

Alright I wanna preface this: I love what they did with Oberon for the summer event. I love that they made him a grouchy, greasy little freak who holes up in his hotel room pigging out on junk food from the convenience store and refusing to go outside. If you even suggest going swimming with him he growls at you.

Makes me kind of sad FGO would never even dream of having a female Servant like that. No matter how shy, reticent, introverted, she's going to get dragged outside in a skimpy swimsuit and "come out of her shell" and get more flirty and/or concerned about her appearance.

I don't want that. In a perfect world there'd be at least one female character who gets to shut herself away and play video games and read doujins and be gross and weird and lazy the whole way through. This isn't like "Oh this will surely spite the horny males who want to see boobies!" this is like what I, personally, want to see them do with a female character that they absolutely never will.

Having said all that, my hope for the next summer event in Limbus Company is a Faust ID who is just...that description. No, not Kromer Faust, not "goes to her part-time job as a racist cult leader," I mean crawled out of bed with messy hair and an oversized hoodie and sweatpants and all her voice lines are very sleepy and grouchy and all some variant of "Can I go home now?"

Gao’s Wardrobes (Not include: Riyo’s 4th Anniversary Gao | Escape Room Gao | CBC2019 Gao | From Lostbelt Vol.1 Special Costume Gao | Chinese 4th Anniversary Gao | Unused (Error) Gao Design in Material 8) References and Notes Under cut

1. There’s five official costumes, one in Material book, and one unofficial costume in Akira Hou (Official Character Designer)’s FGO fan artbook “RIGHT” , which available here, has been show in pic. Every costumes mention so far has been design and drawn by Hou herself.

2. Every costumes that Hou designed has to have at least flowers symbol or his sigil in the design, this are limited but not including 5th anniversary costume. However, the costume was already associated with maple leaves as his Travel Journal (5th anniversary) art and goods shown. The place present in the art is Momijidani park in Hiroshima.  2.1 The flower, as Hou mentioned in Material 8, is Buttercup. Artist note stated that Buttercups are bloomed around Changgong’s death time. Buttercup is also shown in his Noble Phantasm. 2.2 He also has moon motif in his design too, it’s showed in his 3rd ascension cloaks and Summer Bentenyi. According to his profile, it was unsure if he channels moon’s power for emitting light from his face. 2.3 According to Mandricardo in Old Li Shuwen’s interlude, Changgong was the moon and Mandricardo was softshell turtle. ‘Moon and Softshell turtle (月と鼈)’ is an idiom refers to something that look alike yet so different, like Chalk and Cheese. In the interlude Mandricardo was refer about how they’re both horsemen. 2.4 Yu Meiren also associated with Crimson Moon, being True Ancestor. But while she usually have red full moon and red Poppy, Changgong usually have golden crescent moon and golden Buttercup. 2.5 It’s not weird for ancient Chinese to worship the moon, in Chinese belief there’s also moon goddess name “Chang’e”. It’s not even weird when it come to Nasuverse having a character with moon motif either. 2.5.1 Junko’s voice: Chang’e, are you watching?

3. His undergarments are inspired by this. If you scroll down you’ll see the antique top undergarments that used since Song Dynasty. The record about Chinese male wearing ‘Topbar’ has been existed since Qin Dynasty, which it was normally worn in winter (TBH he should be wearing Liangdian). Chinese horsemen were also said to wear bottom undergarment to reduce friction between horse seat and crotch.  3.1 I added the leggings because it’s obvious he’s wearing them. 3.2 The reason I’m thinking he wears layers of undergarments is because his thighs in ascensions arts are slightly smaller than his summer Bentenyi sprite.

4. His unused design were changed to his 1st and 2nd ascension. It has “apron-like” cloth under his belt along with different bracelets pattern. anything else seem same. It has been reveal in sold Material 8 book copies and TM later apologies and releases the current design online. You can download the current reference sheet from here. 4.1 However, in Lostbelt arc 1st Opening, Gao’s bracelet has the same pattern he has in his old design, so I guess they were using the old one for animation guide. 4.2 Which also mean he meant to have dual swords in his old design.

5. There’s currently 3 designs for his horse, Original one, Summer one and Travel Journal one. His horse’s name is not yet to reveal.

6 Changgong always tends to have new costumes in game event with Yu Meiren. They have 4th anniversary, 5th anniversary, Chinese 4th anniversary and Summer costumes together.  6.1 While CBC2019, where Gao has new costume feature in his CE, suppose to be male-only in game event, Yu also debut her new costume in CE in female-only even Valentine 2019. 6.2 Also in 5th Anniversary PV where it show every Crypter team members having party, one of the animators in that scene said Akuta Hinako’s dress design are inspired by Gao Changgong’s scheme color.

7. His Festival wear (his real SWIMSUIT in 4th anniversary) come with towel. The fastening strap on his jacket written “SUPPORT 🌸 ARTS”, replacing emoji with Buttercup flower. He also has bottle according to Hou’s art in twitter but it got deleted. 7.1 His jacket also have Arts symbol on its left side, but in CE it got covered by his mask.

8. Gao’s sword sheath has his sigil on it, in the middle golden plate. 

9. It’s quite hard to see, but his Travel Journal costume has pattern on inner white Hanfu but the pattern is too vague for me. It become more obvious with Hou’s art in twitter but it also got deleted. Note that with that art the pattern still not detailed enough. 9.1 While Travel Journal costume full CE has his outer Hanfu more red-ish than his Ku trousers, in his acrylic good it actually has same color.

10. His Summer Bentenyi design is the only one that has different sigil design, having the Buttercup replaced with Siheyuan pattern. Buttercup is still presented on his sunglasses’ cord by the way. 10.1 Also in his horse design, while buttercup’s still there, we have white Hibiscus on its seat fabric. 10.2 White Hibiscus is also presented in his card art. 10.3 Summer Bentenyi also come with 2 different glasses, the normal glasses one have Yu Meiren forced him to wear herself in the story.

11 His casual wear design in Hou’s artbook have him holding the glasses, not wearing it. He also have sneakers with his sigil on them, too.

12 His “idle” costume is his 2nd ascension one. There’s one time he presented in his 3rd ascension when he received your chocolate. And one time that he use his 1st ascension when he was “brainwashed” by Xu Fu. His injured sprite also based on his 2nd ascension too.  12.1 (CHALDEA SUMMER SPOILER) he got “Dark Lan” as his boss title while he’s being “brainwashed” too.

small summer fgo rant

ok this summer event is fun but I remember my big complaint about it now ok so you got the typical summer beach episode all your servants are here and and its swimsuit time everyone gets one except the male servants like really even a harem anime puts the males in a swimsuit. 

like blackbeard, fionn, Diarmuid, cu, Kojirou, and Karna are introduced in here and yet even having the story say ”lets change into swimsuits” and yet none of them are in swimsuits. 

like come on you have blackbeard and fionn you could have easily seen that as a challenge in writing to make them a fav for some like you could still have blackbeard the comic relief but not just a neet perv and ill say that in this that even tho it was the same fionn he had some moments where I liked him in this story.  but yeah summer 1 part 2 could have definitely focused on the males instead of the piglets. 

like I would have definitely rolled for kojirou the poor dude needs love.  I remember someone mentioning that the summer is also to show off the growth of the artists (like look how dante summer costume is different that regular dante and even raikou looks better in the second ascension than the regular raikou) and I think that it was a huge let down of not doing that with the boys 

but really why even include them if they aren’t also get a summer change “dont worry about it dias basicly wearing a swimsuit” no hes not he has the same skillset and animations like the rest of you >: ( and its bs just join in on the fun.  sure summer 3 costumes are something but not really because I want my new skills and voice lines and NP and animations.
