#Fictif Rainier

Is anyone still interested in Monster Manor? I still love it a lot, and I just had the idea to make my first Love Interest OC!

It's very much in the works, but I'll show my progress so far!

The idea is a ghost LI that would occupy the uppermost floors/attic of the House, and would come around after Rainier is a resident. Once Rainier realizes there are four table settings, and that leaves the room for another. (I know there was hints at a third LI but I'm driving the creative boat at the moment since Dorian has walked the plank.)

I'd like to bring in my Victorian/Edwardian interests, and have this LI be haunting the floors since the 1800s. So a little after Casimir, maybe she climbed in through the window or snuck her way in, idk-

I suppose she would need to be a monster, though- I'll also figure that out too! But for now, I'm not sure which design I like best.

Took a little break from the Arcana hell so have some monster men

Hey guys, it’s been… a minute. The last time I posted on this blog, the Dorian takeover hadn’t happened yet, Fictif was still been actively updated, and I was working on analysing the results of a survey about Rime. That kind of fell apart when the app collapsed, but I was going through my phone today and I still have so many screenshots from Fictif stories that I initially intended to post. And I figured… why not still post them, y’know? Why not celebrate what enjoyment the app did bring? So long story short, prepare for some Fictif spam today – a year delayed, but no less important because of it. We’re kicking off with the rest of my Rainier content ❤️

For my amazing friend @bennytotting Happy birthday!! I hope I did Althea justice, and I hope you have a fun, happy and wonderful birthday!

Everything was almost complete. It would just be a matter of minutes, now. It was Althea’s birthday, and the two monsters of the House had already planned long before to make it a memorable birthday. 

As best as they could, anyway. Neither of them had actually celebrated their own birthday, but Althea was special to them. They were determined to try their best. 

Casimir followed the smell of baked goods--Sweet and airy, and the warmth of the oven opened, just as he suspected before peeking around the kitchen door. 

He wasn't quite prepared for the feast set out across the kitchen island; Tiered cakes, roasts, ranging from tooth-aching sweet and delectably savory, all aesthetically pleasing to the nines. 

"Nom de Dieu. When you said you would handle the food, I didn’t expect you to go this far.”

“Is it too much?” Rainier’s eyes widened. Casimir quickly shook his head before Rainier’s spirit could be dampened. 

“Not at all! I’m just surprised, is all. The dining room is all decorated, everything is ready.” Although Casimir feared he would need to set up even more tables than the four he had already arranged. He walked around the kitchen island, peering at the multi-tiered birthday cake.

"It seems like you're almost finished?"

"Not even close!" 

Casimir's eyebrows raised; Rainier was focused more on working, but the shock in his voice was clear. 

"Humans always have huge feasts, right? And birthdays are important? And I like to cook! Win-win."

"I suppose. I cannot remember the last time I celebrated my own birthday… Is there something I can do?"

He wasn't sure what exactly he could do, as all that seemed left was the guest of honor to be celebrated. 

Before Rainier could answer, Casimir's stomach  growled instead, and Rainier's ear twitched, a grin blooming on his lips.

"If you want to, I'll handle everything here. You can find Althea, and bring her here. Oh, but keep it a surprise! Is that alright? Are you hungry now? I can hurry if you're hungry!"

"Non, that's alright!" Casimir quickly interluded, shaking his head. "I, ah- I'll let you finish in peace. It looks fantastic, Rainier."

Tail thumping against the counter, Rainier's grin stretched even more. Casimir took his leave, ignoring his stomach growling again, to duck out of the kitchen and wander the House once more.

Quiet sounds of paper filled the room, as Althea carefully removed faded wallpaper from the empty room, lost in her thoughts and the task at hand.

She jumped slightly when Casimir knocked softly on the doorframe, relaxing her shoulders when she realized who it was. 

"Good evening, Casimir." She smiled, setting tools aside to rise. "What's got you looking like that?"

"Like what, mon cher?" Casimir asked, although he was failing to hide the soft smile on his lips as he watched Althea's face warm. "Seeing you simply makes me happier than ever." 

He leaned over, lacing his fingers with theirs and planting a kiss on their cheek, then the other. Althea squeaked, covering her face with her elbow to hide her flustered state. 

"Casimir!" 

She squeezed his hand, taking a moment to come back down before facing her love. "You're up to something."

"Me? How so?" Casimir hummed, and Althea poked his chest. "I only came to remind you that dinner is almost ready."

"Is Rainier cooking?" Althea parted from Casimir to tidy up their workspace, listening to Casimir as she did so. 

"He is. It's quite significant this time, he says. A spring festival, I believe."

"That's the only occasion?"

"Hm...I believe so." Casimir cleared his throat. He waited patiently for Althea to clean up, before extending his hand once more in invitation. 

"You've been working all day. Let us take a break tonight, and celebrate something special." 

Althea gently took his hand, smiling at their fingers intertwined. "That sounds lovely, Casimir. I'm excited."

Casimir smiled. He felt a little bad about dodging the real purpose of the dinner, but he remembered Rainier's request to keep it a secret. 

Together, they headed back through the halls of the House towards the dining room. 

Althea could smell Rainier's cooking from a mile away. Always delicious, but there was an air of difference--She glanced at Casimir, tilting her head. She passingly remembered it was her birthday, but as long as she could spend time with Casimir and Rainier, she was content and satisfied. 

Casimir stopped at the doors, knocking first. Althea tilted her head. 

"Is it a surprise?"

"You could say that." Casimir said, before the doors flung open inward, and Rainier scooped up both Althea and Casimir in his arms.

"You made it!!" 

Althea peeked over Rainier's shoulder and her eyes widened. 

'Happy Birthday!' banners fluttered, strung up across the room with balloons in her favorite colors, hanging decorations and galore, including the mind-boggling food set out across multiple tables.

"Wha...?" Althea blinked as she was set on her feet again, one hand in Rainier's and the other in Casimir's. 

"It's your birthday, right?" Rainier said. "Casimir and I made this for you!" 

Althea's face exploded in blush, and even Casimir's face reddened as he cleared his throat. 

"We, ah- We wanted to give you a proper celebration. You deserve it, after all."

"I don't know what to say..." Althea felt her chest flutter with so many emotions, all hard to contain, but she smiled, hoping she could show it through her shyness. "Thank you both, so much."

Rainier's tail waved with glee. "Did you see the cake? Do you like it? Do you want to eat? I hope I made enough for everyone."

Althea glanced between Casimir and Rainier, laughing quietly. "I love it so much. Are we ready to eat?"

"Yes, please." Casimir's stomach growled again. "I'm starving."

“You light the candles on the cake. Every year you add another candle to wish upon, and one more for the next year.” Althea explained, gently pushing colorful candles into the cake. 

Rainier watched with awe, and Casimir hummed as he helped Althea. 

“Now…” Althea stepped back. “We light it. Ah…Would you like to do the honors, Rainier?” 

“Please be careful.” Casimir warned, not wanting to see the table be set aflame. Rainier puffed out his chest.

“I was made for this! Watch!” 

Althea could see Casimir tense as flames billowed out, lighting all of the candles in one breath (And melting some of the candle wax, and the icing…). She laughed, winding her arm around Casimir’s, her other hand embracing Rainier’s. 

“It’s perfect. Um…” She took a deep breath, looking at the both of them. “I can’t thank you both enough. This is…This has been really special to me. I don’t usually celebrate my birthday but…I’ll definitely remember this forever.” 

Althea closed her eyes, her chest warm and fuzzy. “I wish…” 

For all the things she could ask for, she couldn’t think of much that hadn’t already come true. 

She took a deep breath, and made her wish.

Trying out Fictif and like… Can I date both Casimir and Rainier? Can we be a polycule? I would very much like for us to he a polycule, Casimir and Eainier have such good chemistry together

Redesign of rainier (fictif, monster manor).

Wanted to make him look more dragonborn, also gave him two outfits: first is the armor he wore when he was working for the magister (i have a concept of him (name: grimsbane) under my fictif tag as well), second is just a casual outfit.

All you Arcana fans, I mean this in the best possible way, but shut the fuck up.

I mean it. Shut the fuck up.

You guys have nothing to worry about— and I say this as an Arcana fan myself. Yeah, maybe it sucks that any new “content” is gonna be on Dorian. It does, I get it— and I’m on your side, I think Arcana content should be on the original app that was made for it.

But that doesn’t fucking matter. You know why? Because at the end of the day, the storyline is over.

Each of the love interests have either learned their lessons in their respective upright routes, or they’ve gotten worse and doubled down in their reversed routes with the apprentice. They’ve each told us they love us. We’ve been with them every step of the way.

They’ve had their stories, their happy endings, and their sad ones.

You know who hasn’t had those endings?

Sage Lesath. Anisa Anka. Felix Iskander Escellun. Casimir de Gévaudan. Rainier. Fin Derodine. The MCs of those stories.

There are Fictif storylines that are still unfinished, and none of those endings are going to be on Fictif. None of those endings are going to be with those beginnings. We don’t even know if they’re GETTING endings at all.

The Arcana has had its time and its storylines, and while it’s sad, I think it’s time we laid the canon content to rest. That doesn’t mean the fandom has to die, it doesn’t mean we have to stop talking about it or making content. But the story is over.

Fictif’s stories aren’t.

Renovating is pretty exhausting so of course a lot of work means a lot of rest. There's many ways to do so such as sitting down with some tea and snacks, reading together or to each other, cuddling or watching movies; either way you spend this time together quite often 

speaking of movies, movie and show nights! At first at least there might be more of Casimir nerding over the technology than watching though /hj. Someone just please show this man the Beauty and the Beast. Or Transformers. First one is self explanatory, second one I just think would be funny. Also maybe Howls moving castle. That might be super far fetched but I think he'd like studio Ghibli. 

Bonding with Mimi! Casimir really wants to gain back her trust and having you be there calms him Mimi. Though it's better than it used to be already there's still some tension between them and you're definitely helping. You also get to spend time with both of them so that's definitely a win!

You cannot convince me this man doesn't go into hour long rants and rambles about his interests after you asked one simple question. He can get pretty lost in it once he started and tends to get a little embarrassed about it once he realises. Cmon, he was all by himself for multiple centuries, he's not used to people being around. You encouraging him to go on, asking questions or referencing things he told you later on means a lot to him. 

Of course it goes both ways, he absolutely loves listening to you talk, especially about things you're passionate about and will try to bring it up again later or engage in your hobbies with you together. He genuinely wants to know about you and your interests, for one he hasn't really heard from/about anyone else for a very long time (not counting cats and buildings) and also you're, of course he wants to hear everything you have to say

Okay okay okay this one's my personal favourite: hide and seek.​ I actually might write a whole own thing about that at some point soon because it'd just be so much fun!​ The house is quite big with super many hiding spaces. Now it's not something he'd suggest and yeah it might take some force persuasion to convince him but if you ask him really really nicely hell probably say yes, or just annoy him till he agrees (even more effective if Rainier joins). Alternatively just hide somewhere so he has no choice but to search (you definitely gave him a heart attack the first time you did that)

Casimir is old fashioned (I mean- how wouldn't he be) so your regular date nights are pretty classic. Usually it's a romantic dinner (brought to you by The House TM), sometimes it's dancing (like that one paid scene(? Is there one? Or am I mixing something up? Idk); he was taught to be a gentleman and he's gonna use that /hj

Bringing him modern things from shopping trips. It started off by you bringing him something he was curious about after you mentioned it and quickly developed into a habit of you bringing him trinkets whenever you're out. His curiosity makes you much more aware of how interesting even little thins can be and soon turned to you coming back from trips out the house with a bag of things like toys, gadgets and other fun things from the dollar store or similar. You then spend the day looking at what you brought, how it works and so on. Imagine spending the day with Casimir trying out a bunch of toys you bought or found with your old stuff (the type for children, don't think wrong here)

adding onto this because I love the idea of doing fun childish things with him (you'd have to be the one to initiate them though, potentially ‘force’ him, but he secretly enjoys it). Silly sleepovers with pillow forts, movies, teeny magazines (I want to just hand this guy a stack of these teen magazines and see what happens so bad), and snacks! 

related a bit to the one above but spa days! He definitely needs some more self care. I do kinda think he likes stuff as skincare and and used to have a routine (nobility and stuff) he likely had to cut short or even drop it completely with the house's hostility. But now you're there and not only are there so many products your world has for this, it's also much more fun together, leading to entire days planned only for spa and wellness activities (like doing each other's nails, I have a little theory connected to Casimir and acrylic nails but that's all I'm saying on that)

what IS wrong with a headcanon of Asra being afab and autistic?

Well hi there ✨

Let me explain why this is wrong.

Understand that no hate comes from my words and I am simply trying to explain. If afterward you disagree with my statement feel free to ( nicely ) explain your point of view. I will not go in a debate but I would be interested in reading it to understand.

I have neither read the routes nor the synopsis of the routes so I can't judge based on what is actually in it, it can be good as it can be bad but I am not focusing on that I am focusing on what is used for promotion.

For starters, there is nothing wrong with having personal headcanons that aren't hurtful so, in the case I saw someone saying they hc Asra as autistic because of an observation they did then there would be no problem but the afab one is hurtful. For a reminder to people who are unaware Afab stands for Assigned female at birth and Asra is canonly Amab ( assigned male at birth ) BUT nonbinary. His identity is a representation of the nonbinary community and a good one as it's casual and goes against the stereotypes that "you need to be androgynous or not pass as your assigned gender to be nonbinary." "having any feminine trait or action makes you a woman."

The term trans and nonbinary can be used differently from person to person but what I telling here is that Asra has a specific gender identity that matters to many. A lot of people misgender him because there either are not aware of his identity or because they are against it, changing it is erasing it.

Making Asra afab is erasing his already queer identity, it put the stereotype that nb people who show signs of feminity or androgyny are immediately considered girls. Taking away an already existing représentation to put another one instead is hurtful.

Nope it is canon and comfirmed :

There is no subtext or signs that Asra may be afab and if you want you can compare him to Rainier ( from monster manor, fictif games, written by one of the Arcana writers ) Rainier is canon Afab trans, it's here in subtext and it got confirmed by the creator when people started to make the hc.

Do you want to hc Asra as afab because you like the character and want him to be closer to you? Sure, that's your business but this does not apply here and let me switch to the main reason :

This headcanon is promoted as the same level of canon on the main Instagram account to attract a specific type of people with the marketing that queerness and neurodivergence are trends.

I would have not had this réaction if it was someone going on their days and having those headcanons. I would have still tought about what I said about erasing Amab's nonbinary identity but it would not have mattered because in that context it's a personal creation and I have no right to dictate how people have to feel about their personal creative space.

This is not the case, Dorian is promoting it on the main account that has 117k of followers. This is not simply doing headcanons, it's having your headcanon put in the spotlight with the idea of it attracting people through information that is not confirmed.

I have a big dislike for the Dorian marketing tactic of using the fan content of a well-known ID to milk them more audience but they are a company and this tactic works for them and for people using it to get big promotions and that a fact.

By doing so there is a mix of what is canon and what is not, blurring the line between personal interpretations that can hurt some community and real content that has been the fondation to create a community.

Yeah that's what I do, I do not engage with Dorian's content but you can't force me to turn a blind eye on the immense game that is the arcana.

The arcana is and has been notorious for being queer-friendly as a well-known free Otome. The fanbase is HUGE and you can't deny how it impacted a lot of Otome players (like myself). This was one of the most important queer spaces for otome players and still is. It helped people figure out their queer identity ( like me figuring out I was nonbinary after learning that Asra was and doing research afterward ) and have representation trough an enjoyable fiction. As someone still in the otome community and in fandoms that is close to the arcana ( last legacy on Fictif and Touch Starved by red spring studio ), it would be impossible for me to never look at what it become. The og game had its problem that I acknowledge but one thing it got right was its queer representation.

Now going back on the main topic.

Dorian is not Nyx Hydra. Nyx Hydra had its wrong with the promotion of some queerbaiting stuff but at its core, promoting queer games in an environment where there was almost none was a good thing. Dorian does not promote queer content because they want it to be seen and help the queer community, they are promoting queer content as a marketing strategy with the idea that queerness is marketable ( view this tactic as the same as a company selling pride stuff because it gives them a good image ). This applies also to neurodivergence.

Neurodivergence has never been a focus in the Arcana but is a perfectly good topic to explore in fan space. Why? Because it does not have to be focused on, it does not have to be put in your face. The story has never been about autism in any way and the only reason they would put it on focus is because they apply the same tactic as with promoting queerness: it's marketable. Making Asra autistic is not a problem it would be delightful to have a canon autistic LI in a big game ( like cove holden yes I am doing the olba propaganda here ) but it is not canon and trying to squeeze it as a main topic 7 years after it's release feels like an add on rather than a real representation.

Because queerness and neurodivergence are more talked about nowadays media companies are jumping on it to promote themselves. People against it are gonna drag the game and in that way make a promotion out of it and people in this community will check it out because they want to be represented. Again I am not talking about the routes themselves, I don't know the writers, and I don't know their content I am talking about Dorian.

Those promoted headcanons harm the queer community. We already have an existing queer story, changing it with new things on an almost canon level ( because it's promoted by the owner of canon content ) is erasing what we already had and making the new queer labels look bad. Think for a second, some people are gonna see the afab tag and get angry about it because "hey it was supposed to be a man nb" and start to hate on the creators, people who like the hc and possibly afab arcana creator with stigmatization. I am not even exaggerating, this can create hate within the community and even if it comes from a good heart this is not the way it should be added in the fandom.

I think I came across all the points I wanted to try to explain and I tried to really make it understandable to someone for who English isn't their first language.

All my opinions and views on that matter are not to be taken as an exact voice, I am only one player along with thousands of other people but if someone like me feels it should be addressed it's 100% sure that at least a couple of other people feels the same way or agree on some statement.

If you read this far this is a reminder that this is not an open door to start harassing or spreading hate to anyone and I hope my post helped understand what I tried to communicate. Always have critics on what you like and understand it's wrong and good.

Alright, so I've been pretty busy with uni work, BUT from what I've gathered, both apps, The Arcana and Fictif are no longer going to be updated?? All updates will be on that new platform AND I also read that if the apps aren't updated after a certain period of time, they get deleted... Is that true? Am I truly going to lose both Asra and Felix? And Rainier? Their stories?

Move With Me! (Monster Manor)

It's the end of a long work day, and the most recently renovated room is particularly empty for once. But it's no mistake--This room is meant for exercise! It's a perfect way to bond, break shells, and wind down after a day (or years) of built up energy.

I was so worried that this was gonna be mid, but that's because it was in my notes--The first draft. I revised it and changed the POV to second person, which made it flow SO much better!

Finally, you could take a deep breath, and inhale fresh, clean air--No dust or debris to be seen. The walls rippled and new wallpaper smoothed out flush to the frames of the house, light and airy in color, a dark brown floor going still--No cracks or holes to fall through. 

It was the most recent room you had finished renovating, on your “day-off”. You just couldn’t help working on the last bit of repairs, and as light poured in from the expansive, open window, it was already turning out to be a high reward. 

Although, one thing was a little strange; Through other transformations, the House provided nothing short of new appliances, furniture and miscellaneous things to make the room feel comfortable. You walked the perimeter of the room, arms open at the vast space. Only a few potted plants reached towards the sunlight, coiled in their ceramic pots. 

“Am I missing something?” You asked aloud, glancing around at the floor, the closet and the door. “It’s…Too big to be a bedroom. A living room? But it’s still quite…Vacant.”

In reply, a rustling came from the double-door closet. It unfolded on its own, and brightly colored, rolled up mats tumbled out, a giant yoga ball rolling away in bliss. 

“...Oh!” It finally clicked as you stuck out a leg to catch the ball. “That makes so much sense! What a great idea!”

The House settled back, a satisfaction apparent in its creaks. 

Each mat was a different color and pattern; You chose your own favorite color, and gazed at the others. The fourth one, in particular. 

After meeting Casimir, Rainier only showed up a few days later. And it was a few weeks after you discovered a fourth seat at the dinner table. Strangely enough…No one had shown up, yet. 

“Four of us, won’t that be something? Will there be more after that?” You glanced up at the ceiling, but the House was quiet. 

“Huh…Guess it’s not the right time.” You shrugged, and started to pick up the strewn exercise materials. 

A shadow passed across the room, a shadow with particular horns. “Good afternoon, MC! Woah!"

Rainier peeked around the doorframe, and his eyes lit up. "It's so much nicer here! I can unfold my wings! I could even transform if I needed to!"

“Do you exercise in your bigger form?” You wondered, pausing. Rainier shook his head. 

“That would make it trickier. But I do like exercising! Is that what this room is for?”

“Seems so!” You considered it, and then dropped two mats. What fun is it if you don’t try out some exercises at least once?

“Care to join me?”

The faint ache in your shoulders seemed to say otherwise, but Rainier nodded eagerly, setting his belongings in a cubby before joining you in the middle of the floor. 

“So…What are we doing?”

"Good question. Maybe we shouldn't overdo it, but...Have you ever heard of Yoga?"

"Yoga...Nope. What is that? It sounds like...Yogurt."

"It's a series of stretches, they help you in balance as well! Some of it can get pretty complex, but that's way too much for today."

"Balancing is essential for flying, I'm great at that! Can we try it now?"

You began to nod, but suddenly remembered that renovation clothes were made for moving--Moving furniture and repairing broken appliances. Trying to do yoga in your patched overalls and worn shirt would be very uncomfortable in a tree pose. 

So you would need to change, and Rainier might find something suitable for aerobics, too. “Let’s change, and meet back here. Ten-ish minutes sound good enough?”

“Sure, MC!” Rainier said, and his shoulders lifted as a light bulb went off. “What if Casimir joins us, too? We can both learn from you!”

It definitely wasn’t a bad idea, and you couldn’t argue against it. “I’d love that.” You grinned, and winced slightly as you rose to your knees, then feet, and you parted ways with the dragon. 

In your own room, the House was already prepared, with new clothes for the occasion, warm from the laundry room with a smell of fresh linen and lavender. They fit your shape, and it was nothing less than impressive to try a few lunges in, stretching your arms over your head. 

Maybe this wouldn’t be so bad after all! 

The only thing to do was to unroll your mat, and wait for Rainier and Casimir to return. You couldn’t help but wonder if Casimir would show up in his noble attire…A small part of you was eager to see the both of them flex the muscles that one showed off quite often, and the other hardly mentioned. 

Voices and footsteps grew louder, and you perked up to listen better. 

“I still can’t move past this…It’s so…Fitting! There’s no sleeves, nor even breeches! ”

“Isn’t that part of it? Though, I guess you are kinda used to puffiness. Maybe you can ask MC if they make those kinds of things in their town!”

“It’s-” You could hear Casimir’s flustered state through the wall. “It’s not puffy, it’s just-! Ah, nevermind. I feel quite out of my element, is all.” 

The level of curiosity skyrocketed, waiting on bated breath for the door to open. Rainier popped his head in again, never failing to stay on the bright, unabashed side of things. “We’re ready!”

Rainier had no problem showing off his outfit, wearing a tanktop that definitely would not have made it onto Casimir’s chest- The shoulder straps were thin, and the color a dark blue, but it fit him as well as anything could, and hid no muscles of his abs or arms. 

You gave a small applause, smiling. “Looks great! Casimir?”

Blushing to his ears, Casimir’s arms were folded over his chest, taking glances at his bare legs. He was only wearing a regular fitness shirt and long shorts to his knees, but it was more natural skin showing than he probably ever wore in his life. 

You could still see the build of his upper arms, and the form of his chest, and you couldn’t help but grin; Although, for his sake, you gave him a warm smile, nodding approvingly. 

“I think you look very handsome, the both of you. It’ll help you breathe more comfortably, I promise. And if you still want something different, I have no doubt we can find something better for you. 

You glanced over him again, frowning slightly. “Are you comfortable, Casimir?”

He sighed quietly, slowly lowering his arms. “It’s…Just very different, is all. Yes, I’m fine.” He passed back a small smile, taking a deep breath to soothe his nerves.

“I promise we won’t go overboard today. I’m not exactly a yoga trainer myself…” You mumbled the last part. “But it’s not so bad! It goes kind of like this…”

It didn’t take long to roll everyone into the hang of the movement. Good stretching was the first step, and you explained each part, trying your best to remember a particular Trainer’s soothing voice as she repeated her poses in simplicity, effectiveness. 

The only hard part was trying not to smile at how determined Casimir was at following; How Rainier seemed already very skilled and flexible, and was just happy to put it to a different use. 

Your thoughts trailed off quickly--Maybe we should do this more often. Casimir looks really good in that shirt--No wonder he could pick you up so easily--What kind of exercises did Rainier do in his homeland? How does dragon-exercising work? Are there Olympics-

"MC." Rainier opened one eye and grinned. "You're leaning."

Your thoughts came to a careening halt, and you laughed airily, readjusting your arms. “I’m getting a little tired.” 

“Don’t worry, you both should take a break, anyway. I’m still good to keep going! Do you want to sit on my back as I do some push-ups? The extra weight is good for me.”

Rainier changed forms entirely, swooping low to do push-ups instead. His hair fell down from behind his neck,  long white strands among his golden eyes, sparkling as he met your gaze from below. “What do you say, MC?”

Your face--You couldn’t tell whether it was red from exercise, or from Rainier. You cleared your throat, giving a flustered smile. “You bet! You’ll have to teach me how to do proper push-ups next!”

Casimir had held up the pose as long as he could, a good few moments before slowly drooping, frowning as he struggled to stay in balance. “I think I’ll pass for now…”

You turned your eyes to Casimir, and reached out to gently squeeze his hands, bringing his arms back down to his sides with a laugh. "You can relax for now. You did great for the first day."

Like a mirror, Casimir’s face lit up in bright red, but he squeezed your hands back, before letting go to rub the back of his neck. You could still feel the tingle of contact like the ghost of warm stars. 

Pride was something you couldn’t hold back, looking at both of them fondly as you made yourself comfortable on Rainier’s back. 

“I hope this made you both feel better. Being able to move freely, I mean.” 

"It was a wonderful first class." Casimir returned the warm smile. "I look forward to many more with you both."

Rainier nodded in agreement, and even the House seemed to enjoy the space; Its frame was particularly silent, but a relief washed over you, a feeling that was more than just a passing thought, but a certainty. 

It was meant to be. Happiness shared, no hostility or lingering grief, but a peaceful space in a House that was, day by day, becoming more and more peaceful.

And whoever that fourth mat was built for, the empty room, the seat at the kitchen table, well--You could only wait eagerly for their arrival to the found family.
