My process for figuring out their redesigns
They needed a lot more thought and note taking than when I did Violet's redesign, since they are the primary colors, they're kinda the main ones, and I wanted to do them right
But also the themes were a lot more vague than Violet's, so i had to figure that out too

The Colosseum, Rome by Hubert Robert
This canvas depicts the Flavian amphitheatre in Rome, known as the Colosseum due to the giant statue of Nero that was located nearby. Robert was notably familiar with recent archaeological discoveries and was able to imbue the building with a particular visual charm. He emphasises its monumental scale, albeit ruined by the passing of the centuries, which contrasts with the tiny, incidental nature of the figures.

Marble statue of a youthful Hercules
Early Imperial, Flavian 69–96 CE
Roman copy of a Greek original. Restorations made during the early 17th century: head and neck, right arm below the shoulder, left arm and shoulder, right leg below the knee, left leg, tree trunk, club, plinth. H. 97 3/16 in. (246.9 cm)
This statue was part of the collection of antiquities acquired in Rome by the Marchese Vincenzo Giustiniani during the first third of the seventeenth century. It must have been made as one of a pair with the over-life-sized statue of a bearded Hercules displayed across the courtyard. Both may have been excavated in the remains of public baths originally constructed under the emperor Nero in A.D. 62, which were located in the vicinity of the Pantheon.
from metmuseum, New York.

The color guys! They got redesigns!
I kept looking back at my BRY redesigns from last year and I felt like these three were some of the characters that really needed a stronger theme and in general just more interesting designs. And they do now!
They kinda got a shared theme, which is concept - theory - practice, or also heart - brain - body. In this case Robin being concept, so he's poet-like/ a hopeless romantic, Douglas is theory, so he's more studious and grounded looking, and Flavian is practice, so he's more hands on, kinda engineer-like/ready to work on something.
Admitedly, Douglas doesn't fully show that part of his theme, but also it's kinda hard to do that without changing a lot about him and taking away the idea that he is always dressed in a cozy way, he's always comfortable, since they also embody other aspects of their colors, not just this theme. So might come back to him, but I'm happy for now
As for Robin, he got the biggest glow up, I think. He never even...had much of a personality before I went more on the poet/imaginative/impulsive/hopeless romantic route. I also tried to make them all reflect their shapes better, which helped him a lot.
And Flavian just needed a few tweaks, I already liked his design quite a bit, just needed some theming. I did make him a bit more skinny and with wider shoulders, but that gets a bit obscured by his outfit

informal flaviane coining post because i keep forgetting lol
flaviane is like, an inviane subterm for when your gender/allion/etc simply is a flag, and that flag can be anything. like country flags, identity flags, ship flags, etc, the identity doesn't have to relate to what the flag means it just has to relate to the flag itself
flaviane terms don't have their own flag due to their nature but could definitely have a symbol! if anyone's willing to make one go on ahead and tag me or reblog this :> (note; don't put the flaviane symbol on a flag to make it that flag's flaviane flag - that makes a flag lol /lh)
the individual terms don't really have to exist, but it could be something like [flag name]flaviane or flavi[flag name]
the umbrella term stuff would be like flavigender/genderflaviane, flaviallion/allionflaviane, flavivesil/vesilflaviane, etc!
if anyone wants to flesh anything out go on ahead :> if this gains enough traction i'm willing to make a carrd for it

Omguflaviane-
When one identifies with the flags of all genders one identifies with, like identifying as catgenders and the flags for those catgenders
The name comes from 'Omni' 'Sugu' and Flaviane, omni meaning all and sugu meaning gender, source for sugu(link)
Flaviane coined by @liomstargloww

A ROMAN MARBLE PORTRAIT HEAD OF A WOMAN
FLAVIAN PERIOD, CIRCA LATE 1ST CENTURY A.D.
5 1/8 in. (13 cm.) high.
Depicting a mature woman, the sitter is portraited with signs of age, including heavy-lidded eyes, sunken cheeks and prominent naso-labial folds. Her elaborate coiffure of center-parted wavy hair is pulled back, braided and then coiled into a bun at the back of her head. This hairstyle confirms the Flavian date for this portrait.
