not to get too into the lives of his friends but a bunch of them are studying abroad this semester so that’s why he’s there. he’s visiting for spring break but they still have classes, so i guess he went with them. the fan said that he was behind her during class lol

#answered #ns #i hope he learnt some spanish but idk if it’s like in my college where foreign exchange students still received classes in english lol #i never went abroad while i was in college but i have the most random anecdotes like i said in my college we were mandated to take at least #3 classes of our major in english so there are always classes in english available so they would usually send the exchange students there #and one day it was raining and some guys that i think were french were at the lobby and i heard about how impressed they were by the rain 😭😭#it was like they had never seen rain before lol idk but i found it hilarious and cute #and i have a friend who went abroad for like two semester straight to switzerland and she got a boyfriend there and they dated for like 2yrs #like i’m not kidding the guy travel all the time and visit her here lol #so yeah guys go abroad for a semester!

Year abroad declaration of intent due in 12 days and I'm kind of freaking out about it 😭

#this isn't my official application but it's telling my uni what i intend to do and somewhat committing to a path #the reason i'm stressing is that teaching assistant is my first choice of option but if i get rejected from that (not unlikely if they can't #find a school able/willing to accommodate my stammar) then i won't have an easy time getting into study abroad as a backup #but if i list study abroad as first option then i can't apply for teaching assistant #so if i get rejected from teaching assistant then it's very likely i'll end up in a uni i wouldn't have chosen in the first place #it's only a year of my life. worst case scenario i'll stick it out and be done with it #besides the real point is to improve my french so as long as that happened then it's grand #but idk there's so much hype about the year abroad and former students saying it was the best thing ever that i'm very scared i'm gonna be #disappointed when i struggle #one again having thoughts of Maybe I'm Too Disabled For This. which is obvs stupid because many people in france have stutters too #idk man i'm so so grateful my french tutors are all going above and beyond to support me in class and for my year abroad application #but it feels very isolating being the only one in my cohort going through this and even though my friends are understanding it's.....yeah #i'm tired of putting on a brave face about it. i'm so scared and i feel so incompetent. i don't wanna be an inspiration #well for other people w speech problems wanting to do languages yeah. but not for able bodied people (aka my family 'you're overcoming so #many challenges')#i know they mean well but i'm tired. i'm so tired. i wish i was able bodied i wish [redacted] didn't happen so i wouldn't talk like this.#ellis exclaims

what level of french had you reached and why did you leave it?

Six years in total from middle school + high school... I left it because I really didn't have a need or desire to study it any further after I graduated and thought it more useful to study Japanese in college... also after six years of studying and still not being remotely able to speak French in any real way I was like oh well that's that then.

i'm sorry i'm feeling slightly on edge because i did not pay attention to any grammar lesson ever in my life in any language i've ever taken but now i'm an adult who tries hard in classes i pay for to do in my free time and the professor started talking about the akkusative but in German and i was so kindly absolutely crashing out in the middle of class trying to both google and pay attention

I'm a fairly emotional person to begin with tbf but yesterday at breakfast I tried to start reading the impossible art and had to put it down bc I was abt to start crying in the middle of the cafeteria

#I want to sing in more operas so badddd #and the more I do voice lessons and sing in front of friends and other students and professors-#the more I feel like it might actually be possible. even if it's just a small community opera kinda deal. crazy #like I've somehow been holding my own in these classes w/ students 3-4 years into vocal performance degrees prepping for solo recitals #despite the fact that I've been farting around in rock land for the past 4 years hitting stuff with hammers and using excel #and just doing choir and trying to learn handel arias on my own for funsies because I will literally go insane if I don't sing regularly #chat do we think I majored in the wrong thing.#also I'm going to start learning french properly I think... I wanna be able to sing in french better bc my diction's not super clear rn #in italian and german it's a lot better and I think that's just bc I've studied them each for years atp #so I feel more comfortable really enunciating #rambling
