What are html meta tags?
Html Meta Tags are HTML elements which are used to provide metadata about an HTML document. Metadata in HTML refers to data that provides information about other data within an HTML document. In simpler terms, it's data about the HTML document itself. Metadata doesn't appear directly on the web page but is typically stored and hidden in the <head> section of the HTML document.
So, Basically meta tags are useful to both search engine and user to analyse the HTML document. Some of the meta tags influence how our website appears in the search engine results page and some tags inform the type of content present in the html document to the search engine.
Meta Title
In HTML, the <title> tag is used to define the title of an HTML document. It's located within the <head> section of the HTML document. The text enclosed within the <title> tag appears in the title bar or tab of the web browser when the page is loaded and is also often displayed as the title of the page in search engine results.
Example: <title>Example Page - Meta Title</title>
Meta Description
The meta description in HTML is a meta tag that provides a brief summary or description of the content of an HTML document. It is typically included within the <head> section of the HTML document and does not appear directly on the web page itself. Instead, search engines may use the meta description to display a snippet of information about the page in search results.
Example: <meta name="description" content="This is an example of a meta description. It provides a brief summary of the content of the web page.">
Meta Robots
The <meta name="robots"> tag in HTML is used to control how search engine crawlers or robots interact with a web page. It provides instructions to search engine bots regarding indexing and following links on the page. This meta tag is placed within the <head> section of an HTML document.
Example: <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow">
Meta Googlebot
The <meta name="googlebot"> tag is a specific meta tag used to provide instructions to Googlebot, Google's web crawling bot, about how to handle the indexing and crawling of a webpage. This meta tag is part of the broader set of instructions known as the "robots meta tag."
Example: <meta name="googlebot" content="index, follow">
Meta google
The term "meta google" in HTML typically refers to meta tags that are specific to Google's search engine and other Google services. These meta tags provide information to Google's search crawlers and may affect how Google indexes and displays your website in search results or other Google services.
Example: <meta name="google" content="notranslate">
Meta google-site verification
Meta Google verification" refers to a specific meta tag used to verify ownership of a website with Google Webmaster Tools, which is now known as Google Search Console. This verification process allows website owners to access data about how Google perceives their site and to take advantage of various tools provided by Google for webmasters.
Example: <meta name="google-site-verification" content="your-verification-code">
Meta Refresh
The <meta http-equiv="refresh"> tag in HTML is a way to instruct the browser to automatically reload or redirect the page after a specified period of time. This can be useful for various purposes such as automatically redirecting users to another page, refreshing dynamic content, or implementing timed redirects.
Example: <meta http-equiv="refresh" content="5;url=http://example.com/">
Meta Charset
The <meta> tag with charset attribute specifies the character encoding for the HTML document. The character encoding determines how characters are represented in the document. For example, UTF-8 is a common character encoding that supports a wide range of characters from various languages and symbols.
Example: <meta charset="utf-8">
Meta Rating
In HTML, there isn't a specific "meta rating" tag. However, you might be referring to a meta tag used for specifying content ratings or age ratings for web pages. This is typically done using the "content rating" meta tag.
Example: <meta name="rating" content="general">
Meta Viewport
The <meta viewport> tag in HTML is used to control the layout and scaling of a web page's viewport on mobile devices. It allows web developers to ensure that their web pages are displayed properly and are easily readable on various screen sizes and resolutions, especially on mobile devices with smaller screens.
Example: <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0">

Should I learn JavaScript or PHP first?
Both JavaScript and PHP are widely used programming languages and have different uses. JavaScript is primarily used for front-end web development, while PHP is primarily used for back-end web development. If you are interested in building dynamic user interfaces and creating interactive websites, then JavaScript might be a better choice for you. If you are interested in server-side scripting and working with databases, then PHP might be a better choice for you. Ultimately, the choice between the two languages depends on your goals and the specific projects you want to work on.

“I Need Your Support to Continue My Studies and Build My Future from Gaza🍉🍉

My name is Mahmoud Naeem Abu Hatab, from Gaza.
I am a university student majoring in Software and Databases at Al-Azhar University. Since the beginning of my academic journey, I have been passionate about User Experience (UX) and User Interface (UI) design, as well as website development. These fields inspire me, and I dream of advancing my skills and building a professional career in them.

Unfortunately, during the recent war, I lost my laptop, which was essential for both my studies and work. I was forced to flee my home and relocate to southern Gaza due to the difficult circumstances. Despite my efforts to replace my laptop, the financial situation has made it impossible to afford a new one.

Without a laptop, continuing my studies or seeking job opportunities in programming and design has become extremely challenging. This directly affects my academic progress and future career.

Today, I am reaching out to ask for your support to help me purchase a new laptop. Having a laptop would allow me to resume my studies and work on programming and design projects that are crucial for improving my skills. It is a vital step towards completing my education and pursuing my dream of becoming a professional in programming and UX/UI design.

I know that the situation in Gaza is difficult, but I believe education is the only path to building a better future for myself and my family. If you are able to contribute any amount to help me get a new laptop, it would be a real opportunity for me to get back on track academically and professionally.
I am determined to keep learning and working despite the challenges, but I need your support to achieve this goal. Every donation or act of help, no matter how small, will make a significant difference in my life.
If you’d like to support me, you can donate through:
GoFundMe
OR
USDT

If you can assist in any way, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you for your support and kindness! 🌿

hey do you guys want to play a fun prank on me
i recently had to turn in a bunch of documents to redetermine my medicaid coverage and i told them i'm no longer doing freelance art and have devoted myself entirely to gig delivery work because my spirit has been broken, so it would be sooo funny if i got a bunch of art commissions all at once and had to turn in new paperwork. it would be such a great goof. ohh you could get me so good. i would laugh and slap my knee and yell "oh man you got me so good"
if you want to play this very funny prank on me and give me money to make art you can click on this link to look at samples and prices and how to contact me
come on guys it owuld be so funny
#commissions#my art#all my commission posts need to be jokes so i can modulate my expectations#but i very much do end half my delivery shifts wanting to drive my car into lake monroe#so some commission work would be. really great actually.#i can also do front-end web development

i find it annoying when on google i search something like "how to make an artsy personal website" and lots of the results will be like "use wordpress" or "make sure it's good for search engines", like shut your fuckin' mouth, i wasn't lookin' for that, i was trying to figure out how to build and design a website that isn't boring looking. literally every html/css tutorial i've been on has taught me how to make your basic website but not how to make it look less boring. i wanna have stuff like the snazzy websites people have trending on neocities plus more accessibility but i can't figure out how to do that with the knowledge i have currently.

let today = new Date(14 May 2023);
Perks of having your sister work at a cafe: free study space + discounted coffee
Today I'm catching up on some emailing, writing, and coding. And! Going bouldering later, the official sport of tech ppl lol.
Tomorrow we're starting a new course which will be about creative programming and I'm so excited! There's so much i want to do, especially since working with three.js.
It's nice feeling this motivated, cause honestly I've had a hard time coding as much as I want, and mental health is (as always) a struggle. I want to be as unfiltered as possible on here, because not every day is me checking off points on my to-do list and having a cute latte at a café, many days i just lay and decompose in bed lmao, but that's ok! Life is not all or nothing; just because i can't get out of bed one day, doesn't mean i can't get up and work the next one. I would show those days too, but i don't have any aesthetic pics from then, so you're just gonna have to believe me :p to anyone else struggling with mental health: we're in this together! (':
♫ Been listening to Traveler's Encore by Andrew Prahlow non stop the last month, it's been great for my anxiety ^^

That post from like a month ago (I was planning to write this the day after and then immediately forgot and this has been in drafts since lol) about web devs not having some basic knowledge of the web has been stuck in my brain for a while because they are correct as I said in the notes but it's the landscape of web dev right now that's causing it and I don't see it stopping anytime soon.
I've been a professional Front End Dev for just over 7 years at this point (now a UX Dev working on a design system), and while I have a good chunk of experience under my belt, I've gotten to the point where I realize just how much shit I do not know and it's a LOOOOT.
The current landscape of web dev is that most projects and products are robust web apps that, in the absolute best case scenario, are gonna require, at minimum:
User experience research and work (UX)
User interface design (UI)
Front end with accessibility and mobile responsiveness (I am here)
Front end interactions and state management (JS engineers)
Backend database and API work
Backend infrastructure work (including setting up the dev and QA test environments)
QA testing
Developer experience to make sure devs/engineers are working efficiently with the tools they have
I'm sure I've missed some roles here, but you can see why people end up specializing when they work on bigger projects and products. The web is so unbelievably JavaScript heavy nowadays that all these specializations are Kind Of Required™, but that's absolute best case scenario. A lot of companies simply do not have the budget (or desire) to fill all these roles. So then you have a bunch of people who are kinda okay to mediocre at multiple of these things instead focusing on being good at one or two things. And then put in timeline requirements. AND THEN you have some companies who have different philosophies on how to build their core product: some are very UX focused and will put time into making sure that's present, others are not and will not care about UX in the slightest and thus those roles may not exist there at all. And...well things aren't going to be as quality as you expect when you consider all of those points.
The web is full of applications now that require a lot more expertise in different fields than just a basic static site with no data. That's not to say static sites don't exist or have no place anymore, tho. But this is where we are. It sucks.

my homepage journey: entry 2
...plus other shenanigans
soo, yesterday's update was a right mess, reasonably so. but today? i'm honestly just chilling.
first i wanted to note that i've actually switched the website i'm using to host my website from neocities to nekoweb, not to say that either is "better" than the other, nekoweb just suits what i need in a hosting service more!
moving on, i unfortunately had to scrap my own css animation for a marquee effect with another. in which case, i ended up using the lovely resource that koba over on nekoweb has provided
unfortunately, i haven't quiet figured out how to implement a way to still pause the animation play state on hover without it kind of breaking the marquee, but hopefully i'll figure it out eventually?
next up, i still have not found a solution for playing a sound upon a button click which sucks. i honestly have no clue why it's not working but no matter what tutorial i try and reference it just does not work for some reason.
but now we go back to good news!! i actually have a way to make draggable windows now thanks to sadgrl's drag and drop snippet however i'm still trying to find a good way to make them open and close with a function concerning display and whatnot. objectively it should be easy to do but i want there to but two buttons, one like a desktop icon to open it, and then a close button on the window itself to, well, close it. i don't know, i'll figure it out eventually.
anyways, besides continuing to work on my project yesterday, i also officially joined the melonland forum! so that's cool. melon has a lot of sick projects in all honesty.
that's all for now! i'll try and keep up with updates, but no promises.
#unfortunately no visuals this time because i'm lazy#but basically if i just do a normal .marquee:hover pseudo class and set that to animation-play-state: paused;#the looped marquee portion will just continue to go and then when you unhover it becomes SO messy#it looks great though#also i'll return to neocities eventually but i'm only focusing on my homepage for now#also i dont need to use the rss feed workaround to display the status.cafe widget on nekoweb lmfao#work smarter not harder kids!!!#coding#front end development#web development#nekoweb#neocities#webpage#man i need a nap#anyways yeah thats all bye

An Introduction
Hi, I'm Kira! I like coding. I started lessons a few months back, got pretty far, and then burned out. But I'm back again because I'd like to switch-up with my career for something that I really like.
I'm interested in front end development.
I'm very familiar with HTML. I'm still fine-tuning CSS. And while I can go through Javascript exercises, I'd like to see it in real time use to understand it, you know? Anyway, I'd love accountability and to meet more programmers that are of color, of the lgbtq+ community, or are women.
Nice to meet you all~
