sonic is the ulitmate photobomber, there has been millions of photos across the planet with blue streak behind them and there no way to plan for it, he is fast enough to pose for the picture and be gone before you even turn around, there a ton of then

Remember that Sonic X episode where Sam challenged him to a race and it appeared to be a tie so they checked the slowed recording frame by frame? Yeah, he does stuff like that on the regular. This is what happens when a silly teenager who loves having fun is given super speed

He'll infiltrate Eggman's base and make faces at every security camera while running past them. They're a little secret 'gift' if Eggman or Metal ever reviews any footage

He'll be like a little cryptid ghost urban legend in places where he never frequents but shows up in the group photos of teams like them unsolved mystery pics where a person who's supposed to be dead is in picture taken after their death kinda deal but like, more cool than scary.

What is Sonic the hedgehog doing at our wedding? Why is he amongst the graduates? Etc. Most of the people don't mind getting photo bombed by Sonic, they are instead excited.

The people who'd actually be most annoyed are his closest friends because his bombs in such pictures are so hilarious and half the time his expressions are those of a little menace enjoying causing them misery. (He's reclining over the Master Emerald in the picture Knuckles had asked Tails to be taken for commemoration and record. He's grinning evilly from behind with mints in hand as Tails captured some images for his video's thumbnails. He's blowing a raspberry at Abraham Tower in the official picture of Team Dark receiving some award. He's playing dead in the background of his friends' selfies, he's moonwalking on Tails' live stream and disappears before Tails reaches the lounge, he teams up with Charmy to ruin Espio's timer photos of cool ninja poses, he shows up in one of the images of Amy's picnic with half the deserts gone and stuffed mouth while giving a deer in headlights look at the camera, she turns around after checking the photo and nothing is there but half the deserts are gone. )

Imagine being Gerald Robotnik. You love your granddaughter so much that you build an entire colony in space just for her so she can have a chance at life. You sanitize it, sterilize it, ensure nothing can get in and make her sick. You live up there with her, sacrificing everything you might have loved on Earth, and stay in the same isolated area for 16-ish years to ensure she’s taken care of. She’s so important to you that you work day and night to create a cure, but it’s so impossible that you have to risk destruction of the entire Earth by getting an alien involved because how else will you create a living being? And sure, it’s dangerous, but it can’t be helped. You love your granddaughter above all else, and you create this life form just for her. Then as a safeguard, you develop a cannon that can destroy the alien comet to ensure the planet she loves so much has at least some form of protection. All of this is long, hard, grueling work.

And then imagine she dies anyway. She dies because of your research. She dies because of your creation, the one that was supposed to save her. She dies because someone you trusted, someone you hired and brought into her life, tipped G.U.N. off about what was going on. She dies in a horrible, painful, agonizing way because you weren’t there to save her.

Imagine being Maria Robotnik. Knowing how hard Grandfather worked for you, how much he sacrificed and made happen for you, how you wouldn’t be here at all if it wasn’t for him. And that means you can never complain. You’re not allowed to be resentful and bitter about being stuck in here, missing your childhood, feeling lonely, isolated, bored. You’re not allowed to be unhappy because how can you make Grandfather feel bad after everything he’s done for you? So you smile. And you tell him how grateful you are. And you hide how much you want to scream and cry and rage.

Imagine being Shadow and seeing all of this firsthand. And probably having so many emotions of your own but bottling them all up because Maria and the professor have enough to deal with.

Is 'Shadow and Jolt' ongoing? I'm curious how their relationship will grow. I like that you made Shadow so calm and always a little sad (and also somewhat clueless toward certain social cues, this make mim more, how to say? 'human?') instead of the boastful psychopath jerk like the one of the IDW comics. I like you showed us Shadow can work fine with light hearted/funny situation without losing his cool.

I would be interested about also how Jolt will develop, who she is. Usually I don't like Sonic fans characters, but this one caught my attention. I would like have her among sonic's friends instead of Silver, the chaotix and virtually all post Adventure series characters.

It most definitely is still ongoing! Just on hiatus as of now. The next update's very slow-going but I've been tinkering with it in its digital drafts.

Wow, thank you so much for your kind comments! Shadow is such a great character and it was important that his best traits are captured as accurately as I could make them.

Cool characters with reserved, straight-man personalities work well in comedy where silliness happens TO them rather than them intentionally causing it. It doesn't mean they have to be completely humorless though. Shadow's capable of cracking a sarcastic quip here and there or doing something funny at the expense of an enemy (kicking Infinite's teeth in for example). He's just not an enthusiastic, jovial type like Sonic.

It's a big relief that you noticed the nuances I'm attempting to carefully weave in. It's not perfect and there's always room for improvement but it's nice to know that the effort is appreciated. And I'm so happy that you look forward to more of Jolt! Sincerely hope the story is worth the wait for everyone invested in seeing her grow. Thank you again. <3

Some people seem convinced that G.U.N. knew it was Shadow who stole the Chaos Emerald in SA2 and were deliberately framing Sonic as a cover-up rather than just confusing the two by accident. And while I get that this is definitely something G.U.N. would do and it’s an interesting idea, I’m not sure it holds up under scrutiny.

Because the thing is, if no one is actually confusing the two and it’s all a cover-up, how do you explain Amy mistaking Shadow for Sonic? Because she’s definitely not framing Sonic for anything, and she was right behind Shadow in broad daylight, whereas the soldiers would have been farther away and at night. She doesn’t even seem to realize her mistake until he actually turns around and looks her in the eye.

Eggman also makes the same mistake when he first wakes Shadow up. His first words to Shadow are “Is that you, Sonic? Are you trying to spoil my plans again?” And while Eggman is the type to frame Sonic, at that point in the story there isn’t anything to frame him for. Shadow hasn’t committed any crimes yet, he literally just woke up. So Eggman has no reason to pretend to think that Shadow is Sonic, which means his confusion is real.

And if the genius doctor, who knew about Project: Shadow and was directly descended from its creator, could make that mistake, why couldn’t the soldiers? Just because they know Project: Shadow exists doesn’t mean they know he’s a hedgehog. It would have been beneficial to G.U.N. to make everyone think Project: Shadow was the Biolizard since that would be a lot scarier and therefore what happened on the Ark would seem more justified. In fact, that’s probably what happened, given that the Biolizard is the only thing Rouge finds when she starts looking for information. She’s a government spy who’s working for G.U.N., and even she seems surprised to find out that Project: Shadow is a hedgehog and not a giant lizard. And again, she has no reason to fake that surprise.

In Sonic X, Chris and Chuck, who are undoubtedly on Sonic’s side, confuse them too. And in Sonic Prime, Nine says, “You could be twins.” So I think people do just genuinely mix them up.

Also, for what it’s worth, I’ve seen several people in real life point to my Shadow plush and ask, “Is that Sonic?” So it’s not an impossible mistake to make for someone who’s not familiar with these guys.
