Kallus as a sun coded character because he's gold, because his body is built to react to the sunlight. Because he burns anyone who tries to get too close, because the light in him has only ever been painful to look at, because he's blinded and blinding. Hot tempered, passionate, and singular, but destructive.

Zeb as a moon coded character because his fur pulls so silver, because he's tertiary to everyone else, never getting his chance to shine as brightly, always a shadow in a greater story, even ones that can't be told without him. Dependable, guiding, and patient, but dark.

The meteorite being a perfect mix of the two of them, a light in the dark, shining gold. Kallus being guided by the light of Lothal's moons. Zeb only really being seen in his entirety by the sun as it directs all its energy to him to make him shine brighter. The sun and the moon, so unlikely to be to in the same place at the same time, are able to meet at dusk, a compromise between the two of them, where the moon is more easily noticed and where the sun doesn't burn quite so harshly.

@rowanhorserider you honestly hit the nail on the head.

When I was reading A New Dawn, it became very clear to me that Hera was hyperfocused on her mission for the Rebellion. I actually remember that, while reading it, I explained to my fellow Rebels fans that Kanan "needed a push" in the right direction, and that Hera "needed her sights realigned".

Because as you said, Hera is her father's daughter.

She's always in it for the cause, for the right reasons, freedom, etc, and that's great. But she gets so wrapped up in the mission that sometimes she ends up just looking for bodies to recruit, which is how she came across in the book. I love that she'd had that fault, and that by the time of the TV show she'd recovered from that, at least until S4 when she had a relapse. And Kanan, even in the book, he was SO expressive. He made his feelings clear with Hera, made his feelings with his coworkers and friends clear, and didn't apologize for it.

Kanan has to emote because he knows if he doesn't, he'll self-destruct. And since he's found genuine meaning with Hera and to a lesser extent the Rebellion, he's not going to self-destruct because now he has a reason to live.

Zeb....he got a disservice in the show, because we needed more info on him than just "traumatized fun big brother who we all adore and who occasionally looses his temper dramatically" (which still worked.) But he literally has nightmares of his people getting disintegrated before his eyes, literally lost all his family save his grandmother, and was a freaking captain in the Honor Guard. We're even told he has a higher education than the rest of the crew, yet we don't even get to see him teaching Ezra reading, writing, history, or even math. Doing something like that would've helped expand on his intelligence and eventually forced him to open up to the people who were becoming his second family. That should have happened because Zeb's story needed to be told more than a handful of times, and would've done a marvelous job of characterizing each of the adults' coping mechanisms, differentiate them, and give us more insight into how each one ticked and operated.

I didn't expect to have this many thoughts about my old favorite show, but thank you for bringing this side of me out.

I think something so interesting about Hera's character is that she very obviously has trouble processing her emotions and choosing between love and duty. I always see fics and art where she's this over affectionate doting mother to the ghost crew and jacen and yes while that's adorable I feel it's just so??? Ooc? Hear me out.

I'm not saying she's not caring. Or doesn't love her crew. Bc god she does. But I think looking at cannon it's a much more interesting interpretation that Hera is the emotionally constipated "has trouble giving out affection especially physical" kind of woman and having *Kanan* be the one who is shoveling out love left and right. Not only would it be a subversion of the "doting mother and stoick dad" archetype but it would grow to explain why Hera waited so long to confess to Kanan. She's duty bound. She's a one track woman with too much to lose. She adores her crew and would die for them but keeps them at a "professional" distance in fear of losing them vs Kanan who is much more in tuned with his emotions and can healthily love his crew without fear of disaster. Hera is a general. Kanan is a lover. And I think that describes them much better than a lot of fannon out them

Tldr; there's nothing wrong with making Hera overly affectionate in ur art or fanfic I just personally have a different view on her.
