watched the first season of star wars rebels a while ago and the tales of the empire trailer reminded me of it again so ive been rewatching :) heres some mildly unserious modern/human au doodles (hera, kanan, chopper, ezra, sabine, zeb, the grand inquisitor)
never watched anything beyond s1 so thats the setting this takes place in
if anyone is interested, I drew this height chart for some of the characters. The heights are directly from Wookiepedia.
These heights are from earliest character appearance (Season 1-ish) in Rebels specifically.
This chart also assumes everyone is standing directly next to eachother and also assumes Zeb is stretched up to his full height/not slouching/crouching like he normally does.
my highly specific star wars take? if the bad batch was released/written/a concept before rebels then omega would've been a recurring character if not a member of the ghost crew. sabine thinks she's the coolest person ever and ezra and zeb are both a little (a lot) afraid of her. she's best friends with hera. omega and kanan hated each other a little at first but now they'd probably die for each other but will never admit it. there's one episode where omega just says "my brothers are coming to help" and then clone force 99 plus phee and emerie all just appear and ezra and zeb are like "how are there MORE OF YOU?!". omega is simultaneously the best and worst influence on everyone around her. she probably teaches sabine how to use a sniper rifle and teaches ezra fancy knife tricks he always fails at. she and rex act like annoying siblings all the time. she's constantly saying "i know a guy" and then some high profile criminal shows up.
Now OBVIOUSLY I'm not the only one but I need to know how many others who see this and agree that Kanan and Ezra are father and son 😁 I just can't stop gushing over it 😁😁 I can talk about them forever 😁😁😁
I know someone mentioned earlier how the bad batch is a pyramid scheme of adoption. They adopted Omega so Omega had to adopt 4 more kids. They failed to adopt Kanan, but he went on to adopt 2 kids. Hera also adopted 2 kids. Really any kid they get near and are nice to ends up adopting kids of their own. Basically within 50 years everyone will be adopted in the galaxy. Omega needs to reach her quotas.
Have I ever mentioned how much I love the found family trope cause I do. And I think it’s why I prefer The bad batch to TCW and Rebels is close behind. I know the found family dynamic between Anakin and Ahsoka exists, but I do think it’s so heavily underutilized in canon.
The bad batch adds a fun twist to it because they actually are related but it’s still a found family regardless. Which I think doubles down on the whole thicker than blood thing. The bonds you make are thicker than blood even if those bonds are with your blood. And I think that’s great.
