Something I noticed with Grievous
Clone Wars runs more on George Lucas' idea for Grievous, that being a cackling over the top villain who talks big but runs away at every threat to his life, and to that end we often see Grievous fighting weaker opponents while being backed up by droid squads, often turning tail and running whenever the fight goes against him or his opponent's backup arrives
But there is an exception to this
Obi-Wan Kenobi
When he's around, Grievous does significantly better, matching Obi-Wan in fights, going without backup, and being less prone to running
See, my thought is that Grievous isn't actually a weak fighter or anything, thanks to his augmentations he is very much a match for most Jedi, but no amount of body modification can fix his fundamental personality flaw: Grievous is a bully, he picks on people because he can do so safely and folds when he is not safe
But Obi-Wan is the exception, Grievous hates Obi-Wan so much that his typical instincts of cowardly self preservation lose out to bloodlust and hatred, Grievous is so consumed by it that he at times fights when he should just run, until it proves fatal for him
