My first introduction to Pokemon was when I was 8 and my older brother showed me the Aerodactyl episode. There I witnessed Charmeleon evolve into Charizard,

and from that point on I was a fan, and Charizard has to this day been my favorite Pokemon/starter in the franchise.

Now I am fully aware that there are people who say that Charizard's popularity is overrated, he gets way more attention then other Pokemon including the other Kanto starters; I'm also aware of how ill fit he's become in competitive battles. (Stealth Rock and all that) But personally it doesn't change my overall feelings towards him, nor do I question why I still enjoy playing him in newer games. (unlike Pikachu who I personally believe is overrated)

In the end, he will always be awesome in my eyes!
