下の子の卒業式。式後に最後のホームルームを教室で見学、ひとしきり写真など撮って終わったのが午後1時。お腹が空いたので奥さんと学食へ。ここのおっちゃんとは知り合い。お世話になりましたなどと話しつつ食事をして、腹ごなしに周辺を撮り回り。

僕が通っていた高校には学食がなかったので、学生の頃は食堂のある学校に憧れていたなぁ･･

式の前には降っていた雨も止み、お日様も顔を出して校門の周りに集まっていた卒業生を祝っていました。

Had my graduation ceremony today, and was it fucking hectic.

The traffic was so bad, that I had to get out of the car and run through traffic to get to the stadium. By the time I got there, the ceremony had started and I quickly put my gown and cap on.

Dashing through the hallway, picked up my card and got in line.

Lesson: make sure to leave early.

From our studio we selected these works best suit for gradational gift. We divided our selection into two categories; The Faceted gemstones and the Spherical gemstones.

By faceted stone we meant gemstones that are cut in the classical “diamond shape”. Rounded front and pointy back with angular cut all over, an average faceted stone has 58 side, light will bounce off and reflect in these facets resulting the brilliancy we love. Faceted cut is the predominant style to polish gemstones in the market and easy to understand why.

For the faceted style we have selected these pieces in different price range. First off we introduce ARORA. A dainty and easy to wear necklace inspired by the concept of fate and karma. The meaning behind the necklace makes it an especially meaningful as a reminder of life. With a gemstone set at the center, visually the metal extended as a 3-dimensional interpretation of the infinity sign. A classy and also fun design to wear.

Then we have SCROPIO, a cute minimalist necklace inspired by the stinger of scorpion. Think of this as a protection amulet, because the stinger is the greatest weapon of the Arachnida. Yet the design is cute and classy for all occasions. This size also makes a great choice as layering necklace.

ZIA is good luxury choice. A design inspired by the images of the galaxy, like satellite stars surrounding the planet. An integrated design with the bale transforms into a diamond halo around the center stone, elaborate and yet timeless.

Another luxury offer is the CALLA necklace. Design in the shape of a calla lily: the symbol for rebirth, purity and perseverance. An especially meaningful gift for the graduated as they are ready to start a new life. Symbols aside this is an everyday piece great for all occasions.

Soft and Tender Sheen of Spherical Cut Gemstone

Gemstones are in a more natural state, an advantage for stones with natural patterns. I myself like to see it this way: Faceted stone stun us with its brilliance; and spherical stones are loved for their gentle sheen.

Since the time of inception our SATURN necklace is one of our best sellers. In the form of planet Saturn this cute and dainty design is great for everyday. Showcasing the beauty of gemstone with its minimalist structure.

MAIA is the sister design to SATURN. Also inspired by the galaxy, the spherical cut gemstone represents celestial planet and the stars bathing in the cosmos. Both pieces have the same design language yet very different in style, SATURN necklace is more of a choker look great for layering; while MAIA is more substantial a drop pendant style for a prominent look.

March 26, 2025: Exactly ten years ago today, I had the honor of delivering the commencement speech at the graduation ceremony of my alma mater, Waseda University’s Department of Industrial & Management Systems Engineering. Watching the video of that speech again, I felt a deep sense of nostalgia and realized that my fundamental approach to management has remained unchanged since then. Starting this year, I look forward to contributing to a new company and society in my new role as an independent board director, rather than as an executive officer.

TOKYO, JAPAN – In front of a crowd of graduates, parents and faculty, Tetsuya Sogo, CEO of NTN Americas Region, delivered the commencement address to the 2015 graduating class of Waseda University’s Department of Industrial & Management Systems Engineering on March 26, 2015, in Tokyo, Japan.

“It is an honor to be asked to deliver the commencement address at your alma mater,” said Mr. Sogo, a 1982 graduate of Waseda. “I believe it is important to provide insights to new professionals that can help them see how the education they just received will be the foundation of a successful career.”

Mr. Sogo focused his remarks on his experience in a global marketplace, and how the education he gained from the School of Creative Science & Engineering still helps him today. His main message, though, was that their education does not end with their graduation, they just need to change how they learn.

“Students learn theory in the classroom. Now it is time for them to go out into the world and learn through action,” Sogo said of the speech. “Action will serve them well not only with their practical knowledge of how things work, but also gaining the respect of their peers. The sooner they can learn this, the sooner they can establish themselves as growth minded leaders.”

Sogo has proven his support for this ideal through two initiatives. First, he has been establishing a Learning Organization culture at NTN in the Americas. Training and education reimbursement are available to inspire growth in all employees.
