i have an old wip of aizawa secretly bringing in someone with an illusion quirk and putting 1-A in groups of two and running a training course with them and making them think something’s gone wrong and they have to watch it kill him so he can prepare them for not only seeing someone die in the field but it also being their fault

Every now and then, a young woman will bring her equally young boyfriend to a Pilates class, and he will inevitably start by treating it as a big joke like the fact that He a Man has come to Pilates, a Woman’s Class (despite there being men who attend all my regular classes). He will grab the largest set of hand weights from the store room, joke with the instructor about “going easy on him”, take a spot at the front of the class, and realise about five minutes in that Pilates is Hard Actually, and usually by about twenty minutes in will clearly have started feeling emasculated, throw a tantrum and either lie on the mat and refuse to do the rest of the class, or loudly and disruptively leave.

you know, I think neji would enjoy playing dnd. getting to write stories and play characters with no limitations, and having to improv with the other players because he would never have full control of where the story was headed? it would be a dream come true, and also therapeutic. neji would of course be the dm who would "yes and" anything his players want to do. the story would be something everyone has input on and would help shape. an adventure that neji himself couldn't predict or write on his own. also, just imagine him describing his setting and doing all his character voices, he'd love that so much
I think it would be a good exercise for quartz too, because they'd have to make their own characters and backstories and roleplay in character without a script to direct them. especially to kisa "transparent vessel" tachibana, who can act out any character but is afraid of letting herself be seen through them. similarly, kai as well, since he'd be in charge of his own character instead of propping someone else up
on the flip side, fumi would get to enjoy playing a character but not having the pressure to be the lead/spotlight of a story. he's there to play, not perform
sou would also LOVE dnd. I think he'd be really into the character creation and lore, and is probably the next person I can think of who can try being the dm when neji is sick/tired/wants to be a player. he's the player who takes down notes and remembers one small detail neji mentioned four sessions ago that becomes relevant to the current session. neji loves him because sou is the one who appreciates his world building the most
suzu and fumi would instigate so much in the adventure, which neji would love. suzu makes a character everyone loves (like hachipochi) and always brings snacks to the table
fumi has read all of the player handbook, and mitsuki has read maybe a quarter of it (only the relevant parts to his character and how some dice rolls and combat work). mitsuki is also the one who doesn't put much effort into his character's backstory but unexpectedly gets big character development during the adventure, surprising everyone in the table including both the dm and himself
otori is very good at both roleplaying and combat, has created a compelling character, and tries to go on solo adventures but eventually gets roped into the party because he can't adventure alone in neji's setting

I don't think that this post about our society lacking "exercise as play" is wrong per se so I'm making my own, but if you have a public park nearby there is a very strong chance that you can go to one on a weekend afternoon and find a lot of people playing sports for fun and exercise, so I encourage you to look for that kind of opportunity if this resonates with you!
My city has free adult recreation leagues for soccer, cricket, kickball, ultimate frisbee, tag football... etc, and low-cost (like 15$ for a season) leagues for teams that need developed spaces like basketball and tennis.
And that's just the officially organized leagues, not counting people who just do it on their own.
Of course availability and level of formality will vary based on your location, and on how much you enjoy the particular sports on offer, but for some people "exercise as play" is already the norm, it's worth looking into!

The songwriter, Max Martin, has written or contributed to the lyrics for a huge number of pop hits since the 90s. Max Martin is Swedish, and English is not his first language, a fact which feels incredibly obvious once you know it.
It's not my intention to mock him for this--his English is miles ahead of my Swedish!--but this sincere vagueness and novel interpretation of English grammar are a noticeable quirks of his songs, especially his earlier work, so much so that trying to tease apart the individual words and phrases of them is a task designed for a Greek tragedy. His songs are the aural embodiment of "no thoughts just vibes."

They don't bring it up in that article, but Martin is also responsible for Britney Spears's "...One More Time," and I'm sorry to anyone in whom something was awakened with those lyrics, but our good friend Max thought "hit me" was contemporary American slang for "call me."
I feel like this adds a thin, waxy coating of surrealism in a genre whose worst examples can lean hard toward bland vapidity, and I love that Backstreet Boys lyrics are still making people question their sanity 25 years on. But mostly I can't get over the thought of all of these singers--many of them already really big before they worked with Martin--puzzling their way through these lyrics enough to figure out how to sell the shit out of them.

I don't know if this is related to the topic, but one of the reasons I hated sports as a child is because PE is Hell for neurodivergent kids, fat kids or kids with coordination issues (i was those three), and it is because they insist on grading you for that. Teach your kids to enjoy movement, let them play, and let them advance at their own rythm, instead of giving a kid an F because they can run as fast as other kids, or because they don't get picked up for soccer. I think that putting PE in the same level as other classes where you fail or succeed is a quick way to make kids and adults lose interest in exercise.
more people would exercise if this culture didn't make it absolute hell

I go to the gym and lift weights but its DEFINITELY better to do martial arts instead. I used to go to kickboxing/taekwondo classes but I don't have money nor the resources to sign up for the classes anymore. So I just pay for the gym to lift and hit the sandbag sometimes.
Its just way more fun to have application of the muscles you're developing AND its way more exhilarating bc martial arts puts you in the zone. Its almost like a dance when you really get into it, anyway yeah that was my ramble abt exercise
