Whats a g/t trope y'all genuinely hate, but is considered a "hot take"

For me it's borrower stories, specifically those that always follow the same formula and never get creative.

As in, borrower is outside looking for food or smt, somehow gets into a situation where they are trapped, human finds them, borrower is scared and tries to flee, yet gets trapped under a glsss, with the human assuring them that they're kind and won't harm them. Then after a few chapters, the borrower leaves behind all the fear they held for humans and becomes close friends with them (this especially throws me off whenever the borrower has had a friend or a family member be killed by a human). They usually also meet their friends who are also super nice.

I understand that most humans wouldn't be out here tormenting a tiny person they found, but I honestly don't get the hype behind stories where it's only fluff and basically almost always the same plot.

The human characters are usually the most boring to read about, which is a huge let down for me. Especially as, it feels weird that I've yet to see a borrower story where the human genuinely freaks out that a tiny person has been watching them all along.

I mean how disturbing is it to know that you were being watched all this time, that you were never truly alone. Including in moments where you were feeling down.

For more interesting prompts, you could have the human actually be someone insane, that sees the borrower as nothing more than another experiment or something to exploit for money, with the borrower showing them that they are sentient, yet, perhaps, due to sn inability to understand each other, the humans doesn't understand what they're doing.

Or

Have the borrower have a whole web of crime with other borrowers, where they purposefully steal things from humans to make their days just a little more upsetting. Getting back at them for, maybe, having hunted them in the past. Have borrowers actually be evil little gremlins or something.

Heck, maybe even have the two be criminals, with the borrower helping breaking into people's houses and spying on them, to see who has the best stuff to steal from and the human doing the rest.

And if you do give your borrower a sadder backstory, please please please let them deal with their trauma and not completely remove it for fluff. Have them have moments where they feel inferior and break down, rushing back to their holes regardless of if the human is being nice or not. Let the human get frustrated with the borrower for not fully trusting them, not knowing the full story. LET THEM HAVE TENSE MOMENTS WITH EACH OTHER. I WANT TO SEE THEM FIGHT

MAKE THEM HAVE CLASHING PERSONALITIES WHERE THEY OFTEN GET INTO HEATED ARGUMENTS

Idfkanyway hope you liked this silly lil ranty rant I wrote. No hate to anyone who writes borrower stories, considering my own story has borrower elements.

it’s funny to think that IF I had a borrower in my walls, they would be so freaked out by how wired I am to ever even consider showing themselves.

Like, whenever I’m reading a book I randomly will give aloud commentary on certain things or will read out lines. I also tend to talk to myself a lot. to the point where I have full on conversations and even debates with myself on a day-to-day basis.

and let’s not even start on the whole g/t writer/artist. Honestly if I had a borrower in my walls they would be pretty confused.

CW WARNIG FOR MINOR RANT

Welp, that’s 4 ppl that have left cuz of the pet trope now….fml why is this happening.

For context: There’s a lot of discourse going around on the pet trope on tumblr and 4 ppl(that I’m aware of) have either left, are taking indefinite hiatuses, or are taking breaks because of it.

I love this community with all my heart and soul, but god damn it sometimes we can’t get along worth the shit, and it’s making me so sad, because I’ve made so many friends in this community and it’s full of so many fun, talented and nice people, and it pains me to see it so divided at times

But in the grand scheme of things this is necessary for the community to improve so I can’t exactly say much, but I’m still upset that it’s divided atm.

I just hope that all of this won’t be in vein is all, all the ppl leaving, fighting and arguing, all the blood sweat and tears that are being shed in the name of improving the community for the better, I pray that it’s all gonna be worth it in the end, I really do.

having a g/t hyperfixation or special interest is so hard, it’s all i think about but the one thing i don’t talk about like i can’t talk about it to anyone except for random ppl on tumblr, but i mean i CAN talk about it but it’s not rlly normalized soooooo. i don’t even like to watch gt things with other ppl bcz i just feel uncomfortable. gt is often viewed as a fetish and i know wanting to hide it makes it seem even worse but i just feel like i have to for some reason. gt is all that occupies my mind like if u see me spaced out i’m thinking about gt i always am, it just gets tiring not being able to go on rants to ppl irl.

SO, I have been requested many a time to make tutorials. I don’t think I can ever make a “10 Simple Steps For Drawing X” style tutorial, but I can do lil things where I show how I think when I draw. So studies, more or less.

I’m not perfect, I don’t always know what I’m doing, but hey, that’s just art for ya! It’s subjective! Yes I happen to also work in an industry that uses some pretty strict rules because every position in animation from concept art to composition needs to know the tools to do good visual storytelling. While my art on this blog is just for funsies, I do use some tricks of the industry to enhance my doodles. (I say “tricks” but what I really mean is “fundamentals of drawing and visual storytelling”)

My studies are also not just for those who already draw! Never drawn a thing in your life but want to? Do it!! It’s never too late to start learning! Just start somewhere, that’s how to get creative.

a lack in fnaf lore knowledge, IN MY FAVORITE FNAF COMIC ARTIST? it's more likely than you think but for real, the books are honestly pretty low down the iceberg in my experience, only reason i know "fazgoo" is a thing, is qus of gametheory lol

It's so wild. I was talking about this w/ a friend of mine legit earlier today. Fnaf in general has a history of inconsistent lore, which is exacerbated by the books which are supposed to be "noncanon" to the game timeline. And now the Security Breach Era of fnaf (including AR and the Help Wanted games) are just shamelessly using book characters and references in their lore. This isn't a bad thing necessarily - I LOVE the concept of a greater fnaf universe to flesh out concepts like how remnant works and Gregory's whole deal. It's just, unfortunate that we never really get a clear or concise answer to what is Legit Canon and what isn't because they keep retconning shit!!!! Incorporating the books into the game lore would be fantastic if it was consistent!!! I would read them if i was 100% sure it wouldn't waste my time with non-canon stuff. (me when i complain about a children's book series that functions on the same mechanics as the Pixar Theory).

Fr though. I don't watch game theory anymore because sometimes it isn't super accurate (minecraft GT videos my belothed) but it's making me consider tolerating it just so i know what the hell is going on.

Anyway, I would really love if I met someone who was already into gt b4 I met them and then we just kind of discover that we both have this wired obsession with size difference. time to talk more about the sizeshifter!sapnap au!! spoiler alert, the thing i’m writing for it doesn’t really go into worldbuilding, it’s just fluff, so I wanted to say something about where the au is headed with some doodles to accompany my explination :)

Where we last left off, Sapnap had rescued his fiancés from a shop goer who has taken them. After they get home, the three of them decide that the store may not be as safe as they first thought. They don’t want to move, but they’re scared something like that will happen again and don’t want to risk it. Downside is they’ve never lived in a human house before and are unwilling to live in the wild because of reasons that you can either guess or i’ll explain later >:)

They eventually come up with an idea: now that they know Sapnap can be human sized, Sapnap will get somewhere safe to live. They’ll finally have a house where they don’t have to worry about hiding or stealing, and to all of them it seems like the best option. Problem is: how do humans get houses again?

Sapnap had gone out into the store human sized to grab supplies for the base when a strange man stops him. He said that he’s seen Sapnap around a lot recently, which terrifies Sapnap because who is this human man and why has he taken notice of him? He tells Sapnap that he noticed that the only clothes he ever wears are carried in the store and he’s been in the store every day grabbing food, but none of the security cameras see him pay or even leave with it, and none of the employees have either. In fact, none of them have ever seen him leave in general. Or come in. Sapnap is ready to just punch the guy and run but he’s surprised when the man says that if he ever needs anything, he doesn’t have to hesitate to go to him for help, given that the store is his and he wants to help in any way he can. He also throws around the word “homeless” a few times, but Sapnap isn’t entirely sure what it means, given that he does have a house and it’s absolutely none of the human’s business.

Sapnap quickly shuts down the conversation and leaves, telling his fiancés what happened as soon as he got home. Sapnap is convinced they have to leave, but Karl and Quackity have a better idea: get the human to help them find a new place to live. And as much as Sapnap hates the idea, he admits that it’s probably best to ask the human about human things.

So the next day, he begrudgingly goes to ask the human about a house, asking how to get one. The human seems confused and started to go into complicated things that Sapnap had never heard of, but one thing stuck out: money. Apparently he needed a lot of that for a house. So, he asked the human how to get money.

Fast forward a few days, and Sapnap, now named “Nick” to his human co-workers, is steadily saving up for a house for him and his tiny boyfriends. The three of them had made up a cover story for “Nick,” too; he was indeed homeless, he was estranged from his family, and had been living out of the store for about 2 and a half weeks (about the amount of time it’d been since Sapnap had revealed himself as a shifter and started going into the store more). Sure, it wasn’t all too detailed, but it this way it could always be reworked at a different time. Speaking of the strange store owner human, apparently named Dream, though he said this was a nickname, he had been letting Sapnap take food free from the store for meals and letting him take whatever clothes he needed as well. He also directed Sapnap to a place where homeless humans apparently go for shelter, and Sapnap told Dream that he had started living there, even if in actuality he had just started to leave the store and re-enter through a tiny rope that Karl and Quackity hung from an outdoor vent.

So now he has a steady income, and is a good step closer to getting a safe home for the people he loves. Problem? Oh, just that he’s working for a human, in a place meant for humans, and all of his human co-workers keep trying to converse with him. He doesn’t trust a single one of them, they’re humans after all, and he’s just trying to keep his head down long enough to get out of there, no matter how suspicious he seems. Meanwhile, Dream is telling everyone on staff to be as nice as possible to the new guy, and they all can tell something isn’t adding up with him. It’s not their business to pry, but why is he always on edge? What isn’t he telling them?

Fun fact: borrowers don’t do engagement rings. They make funky braids with their family colors and wear those to signify who you’re close to (romantic, familial, and platonic relationships are all treated similarly by onlookers in their society, and nobody really cares of their braid means for a lover or a friend, it just means someone important). Sapnap, however, after learning about the human tradition of an engagement ring, starts to wear it on his ring finger in human form.

Also, I have a lot more doodles with Sapnap and his co-workers so here’s a game: if you can guess who he works with, i’ll post the doodle and some drabble about them :D

Nice to finally have a trailer for this game; I know a lot of people like it, but everyone I've asked about it always just goes "it's soooo gooood, but I can't tell you anything because it'd be spoilers! Just play it!" which like. doesn't work for me, especially when it comes to something that's not super easy to access. (I don't know how to run an emulator) If you want me to consume your favorite media, I need to be sold on it, not just told "it's good, trust me :)" I'm stubborn. Are people afraid to tell me that the protagonist is dead from the start? I know that. It's kind of in the name. I watched Yu Yu Hakusho too. Now that someone has actually showed me anything about the game, it looks really cool!

Anybody seen the movie A Monster Calls? Cuz wow, I was promised gt and yeah I did get that too but mostly I got a lot of complex emotions and crying. It is truly end genuinely a good film about loss.
