anyway, at the risk of creating a domino chain of vitriolic discourse somewhere else in the fandom due to an untagged post: given the theme of questioning Laudna's honesty in that conversation with Imogen, as well as the fact that there are things she's actively keeping from Imogen (such as what happened to Edmuda, and lies she's maybe trying to tell herself are true i.e. "I'm not feeding [Delilah], she's feeding me--it's symbiotic"), and the long pause before replying to Imogen's "I will not let go", I get the sense that her reply might not be entirely truthful either. And I don't mean that in a bad way--she loves Imogen and truly wants the best for her, that I believe entirely. She just also believes "the best" is not her. Imogen says she won't let go, and Laudna replies in turn, after a long pause, but her response is weightier somehow. It sounds like she's saying, "I will not let go. Unless, perhaps, I decide you really can fly higher without me, and you must."

YEA THO he's definitely comfortable in the kitchen at least! and if he's good for anything it's following directions so he usually ends up doing the cooking anyway, he just like. never cooks normal food for himself because he's depressed so i didn't give him a very good score for it lmao. if he's not taking care of someone else it's either stressbaking banana bread or he just eats a sleeve of saltines and goes to bed

Okay, but Pancake's design back then is kinda funny compared to her design now. Back in 2020 I was still figuring out her design, so that's why she had the odd outfits and mowhawk. Idk when the antennae came in, probably around 2021? Yeah 2021. Before then they were actually horns!

And then there's MSA!Pancake now, all decked out in scene and scenecore aesthetics. Also Arthur looks SO MUCH BETTER XD

hi! i saw your tags on the post with hitsugaya and rangiku with the pancakes, and i was wondering the same thing: do they have pancakes? well, i recently was flipping through my copy of color bleach and remembered this panel:

i wonder if it’s seen as a new novelty dish from the world of the living? it might be something that the old nobles wouldn’t know about or see at below them, but younger shinigami would find interesting or fashionable? perhaps even the recently deceased remembered some recipes and somewhere in rukongai there’s a specialty pancake and coffee house?

Hi! Sorry for the late response. Our inbox has... Happened again and we are trying to fix this. XDD My co-blogger wrote those tags, but yes!! I love this scene so much! This is the scene she was referencing! I know for sure because we have talked at length about this pancake business (and the perennial 'wait... why is Yoruichi even here' business lol).

Honestly I love the idea that Yoruichi is just like, 'Oh hey, 13th is in charge of patrolling Karakura. Maybe on one of their deployments one of THEM learned how to make this very specific thing I am craving!'

I can't think about pancakes without thinking about Kiki's Delivery Service, so now I'm extremely charmed by the idea that there are, indeed, 13th Division shinigami that chose to save as much of their salary as possible and learned how to make pancakes on a camp stove down by the river. You can live pretty well off of inexpensive combini meals, but a box of pancake mix is still cheaper if you're gonna be out in Karakura for a whole month...! And if unseated officers are earning ~$20k USD that's grad student stipend money. I believe in their pancake economics. (Granted I'm still unclear on what it is, exactly, shinigami spend all this money on besides Goggles, but--)
