Interesting. I went back to the Box Office Mojo website this morning to see if I am Still has finally shown up. The answer is no, and the reason, according to Google AI, is because the film distributor can decide whether or not to share gross ticket sales amounts. Mystery solved. We won't be able to see JK's ticket sales here in the US because the company has decided to keep that information private. Shoot! I really wanted to know how it would do here.

I'm not surprised they made the decision to keep sales figures private. This way they can hype the film and make any claims they want without any way to corroborate the data. I saw a post this morning bragging about the number of screens the film is showing on in major US cities and how it's in such high demand that they're adding extra screenings.

Locally, the closest theater to me is showing the film just once today (Saturday). It starts four hours from now. There are 136 seats in the the theater, of which 12 have been reserved. That's 8.8% occupancy. The same theater has only one seat reserved for the Sunday matinee. A more popular theater also close to me has one showing today at 7:30 p.m. The theater has 84 seats, 18 have been reserved, or 21% occupancy.

Obviously this is all anecdotal and I'm sure demand fluctuates depending upon the popularity of K-pop by location, but this doesn't seem like a smash hit to me. How is HYBE even breaking even on this?

OMG! I just realized that the film is now only showing in those two theaters in my metro area today, down from 11 on Wednesday. After tomorrow it will only be showing in one theater. I checked the occupancy at theaters in smaller cities and suburbs across the entire central US, and it's not good. Some have zero tickets reserved.

So out of all the songs that BTS and it's members have released that were eligible for RIAA certification, the last song that wasn't a JK-led project to receive certification was "My Universe", which had an eligibility date of 9/27/22. Of the 15 songs on this list that became eligible this year, only one has actually been certified - "Seven". That means that not only was "Like Crazy" not certified Platinum, but even BTS songs like "Fire","Save Me", and "Life Goes On" (which all became eligible this year for Platinum certification) weren't certified. I checked on the RIAA website and "Life Goes On" was previously certified Gold but the list is surprisingly short compared to what has been eligible. Even "Spring Day" hasn't been certified, and it became eligible in 2022.

I'm not sure exactly why this happened (anyone who has some knowledge in this area please feel free to jump in and comment) or why it has now become a priority to certify "Seven" if this is seemingly unimportant to Hybe.

It doesn't make me feel any better to see that other songs have also been neglected by the label, but it does seem to confirm that the bullshit that PJMs and other Jimin supporters have been calling attention to isn't limited to just him.

I am a firm believer that a fair and even playing field is the only way that achievements can truly be judged against each other, and there is nothing that has happened this year that leads me to believe that is what we are working with.

obviously, they’ll experience some career delays as a result of all this. “i’m catching up” keeps sticking out from Stray Kids’s “FNF”, so they could fall behind their peers compared to how it is now where a lot of 4th/5th gen girl groups seem to be at an even fight. whatever former views the general public now has of newjeans could be very different in the future; i know some people say newjeans comes off as school-girlish or not knowing a lot but people could see them as very mature and “well-tempered” or “well-behaved” after this. people could feel a little weird about them though? or the industry? like they “can’t look at things the same”. maybe the public or companies start being a little cold towards them or they can’t reach them like they once could. newjeans and their team themselves could feel a little “shaken” about everything, and this could cause their creativity to falter some. this creative block will only be temporary though! so, things could be looking bad for one comeback or single release or so. 

maybe once newjeans is a little more transparent about the effects of everything people will be more receptive? then, the public could feel sympathetic and the girls will feel unburdened because they won’t be holding back and things will “click” so to speak. then, they may feel like a more unified group and the public will start accepting them again, or they’ll start being “the newjeans [we] used to know”. but overall, newjeans will be very burnt out and exhausted after all of this; “that perseverance can only last so long”; it’ll take them a while to regain their balance, but it’s possible. they will feel bitter about everything though; “we could’ve gone so much farther” or “we could’ve gone an easier route” could be their point of view. 

the way everything (this whole drama) ends could feel fast paced and “out of the blue” possibly. with judgment, whatever doesn’t become uncovered will come to light in the end. some may feel people won’t/don’t care enough about what all will/is coming out, but in the moment it will be shocking and cause headlines. overall, newjeans will probably stay together, but their careers will definitely be stunted by this. it will take them a minute to get back on track and make up for lost traction compared to their peers. they won’t gain as much success and fame as they would’ve without this whole situation happening, and their fame could be capped to how famous they are right now (they could come back to this level of fame, but i don’t see them going above it like people originally expected).

Summary: The nation of Qepriotan was a doormat nation because of the overruled space pirates and bandits. When he requested Yoongi to steal the saber, he was met with something he wasn’t expecting from touching it. A beautiful girl with dark orange eyes stared at him with a blank face.

What he doesn’t expect is losing to the new student and her nonchalant attitude makes it worse. The F student beating the top student, now that's a story.

Summary: Almost everyone L/N Y/N knew believed in the Gods of the Magic Shop. The story that would put kids to sleep or give hope to adults was something Y/N thought was a waste of time. In the past few months, she's noticed that things weren’t the same for her.  Somebody is watching her but she doesn’t want to know who. When arriving home, she opens her door to see two mysterious men on her bed playing with magic in front of her. Why is the God Of Time in her room drinking her apple juice?

When a citizen asks the two for a task, Jungkook throws a fit but his leader tells him to go anyway. Along this trip, he learns so much about her and he starts to regret ever questioning her skills. He doesn’t just see her as a mage anymore but as someone, he wants to be with.

I'm tellin' y'all, it's a sabotage

I have been trying to figure out how to talk about the ongoing mistreatment/sabotage/fuckery that has been happening to Jimin this year and there is so much to cover that kept hitting a wall when I tried to write how I feel about it all.

This is one of the main reasons that I decided to create this blog, beyond just wanting to scream into the void about how amazing I think he is. I have been lurking on Twitter and Tumblr for long enough to see how few people have chosen to continually speak out about how Jimin has been treated. This is especially true of "OT7" accounts (and honestly who is even surprised at this point about that), but I've also seen it happen in accounts where I thought they would have cared more about Jimin (this mostly applies to shipping accounts where Jimin is supposed to be half of the duo they are supporting).

All of this has lead me to the point where I can't in good conscience support anyone who doesn't continue to bring these issues up or recognize the blatant unfairness that continues to happen.

In what is just the latest example, Jimin's "Like Crazy" reached the milestone of selling over 1,000,000 units in the U.S. back in August. He was the first K-Soloist to achieve this in 2023 and the fastest to do so.

This means that he would have met the requirements to go platinum, a great achievement for any artist. Unfortunately, getting certified involves the record label and clearly they haven't made it a priority to certify Jimin's achievement.

This alone is a problem, but the fact that Jungkook has now been certified platinum for "Seven (feat. Latto)" shows that the label clearly knows that this is something important and understands how to make this happen for their artists.

How anyone can not see how this is a problem is beyond me, but then I remember that ARMY/"OT7" never want to acknowledge any real issues that are happening with BTS or within the fandom, especially when it comes to Jimin.

I'm not naive enough to think that anything I say on this blog is going to change anyone's opinion who doesn't already agree with me or magically make Hybe (or whoever it is that has a vendetta against Jimin) stop their bullshit. But I do think it's important to call it out when we see mistreatment happening, regardless of how many people want to ignore it.

I know that Jimin Karma will come back to bite them all in the end, because while I don't have faith in much, I do have faith in him.

It’s impossible to not love jikook.

Their chemistry is so natural, so effortless, so comfortable. Whatever brain cell Jungkook has you know Jimin shares it. They complement each other in their physical athleticism, in their easygoing / mischievous / crackhead personalities, in their competitiveness, in even how they relate to the other five members.

I’m yet to watch the full RUN episode, I’ve only seen some clips some friends have sent me while I run to a work lunch, but now I’ve got this silly smile on my face because two men I love, Jimin and Jungkook, exist on the same planet I do.

In other news, HYBE is giving a masterclass in class compared to the dumpster fire that is SM right now, though at this point with how deplorable SM’s management have behaved recently, that’s not even saying much. The latest HYBE financials confirm what I’ve said in my last few posts on HYBE’s corporate news i.e. HYBE not neglecting BTS and how BTS continues to be the primary revenue driver even on ‘hiatus’ (I think I recall @guacamoli-avocadorado sending an ask on this. HYBE’s latest filings are available on their website so you can confirm, but I’m sure there are also screengrabs all over Twitter at this point. Just FYI 💜.) It’s also confirmed Jimin will release PJM1 in March.

For the other anon who just sent in an ask on the downside of this SM deal for HYBE - HYBE has already gotten their pound of flesh in terms of LSM’s stake (consensus view is the injunction is in his favour), a validation of the business mode HYBE developed years ago that SM now wants to replicate in their SM 3.0 plan, and SM’s management has single-handedly done most of the damage to their brand already. But then again, they’d damaged their brand years ago when several of their own artists filed lawsuits detailing extreme physical abuse, when the company was fined for fraud several times, when the ceo wound up on Interpol’s most wanted list, when SM bought Woolim Entertainment to shelf Infinite and every other talent under that agency, etc. It didn’t stop the wider k-pop fandom/industry from developing selective blindness and amnesia to all this though, neither did it stop SM from continuing verifiably corrupt dealings. So despite this latest embarrassment only being more so because of international eyes on this mess, expect the status quo from the wider k-pop space to remain by year-end. HYBE will maintain a notable equity interest they can monetize later, and likely some influence on management decisions.

Back to jikook, I’m so excited for what they both will get up to this year. Jungkook said he isn’t working on anything right now, but that guy has been writing finished songs since 2016 at least, already has a vision for his solo debut (multiple MVs, possibly for each song on the album, choreography, possibly including drumming performances in videos or live, likely a new slew of collaborators, etc), plus it’s only February. As 2023 has shown us so far, a lot can change in very little time, so I’m not worried about JK at all. He’s taking a breather, something very necessary for creatives (much less introverted creatives), and he’s been working full time for 10 years.

Jimin will bring sauce and heat and tears in his new album. I have zero doubts. Prepare your bank accounts and stay hydrated. 💜

The lemonade she had made tastes nasty, so as her face. Choi Aerin's face immediately turned sour, not alone the lemonade, but after hearing what her friend and work mate, Hyeon Jiah, had said.

"Enhypen? Are you kidding me?" Aerin's eyebrow quickly raised.

"I'm serious. And if not with this stupid fever I won't ask you to do it in behalf of me. Hybe wouldn't allow people that are unwell to be near of the members, much more interviewing them."

Aerin, stubborn as she is, shook her head in disagreement. "No. I'd better finish this one hell of a lemonade than talking to them. Thanks but no thanks."

"Not all. Only one member is allowed to be interviewed. He's the male rising star for the month of September. He's undeniably famous but still needs to steal the spotlight, so you also need to do the best write up."

Aerin sighed and throwed herself in the couch. Jiah is persuasive and she knows she can't say no. But still she's not feeling it.

She's on probation and needs to step up her game. She's a staff writer along with Jiah, but on her part is a different story. She had bunch of rejected works, and a big scoop is what she needed at the moment. 

But Aerin finds it hard to hit that needed break because she writes the opposite of what the netizens want. She hates K-pop and everything that comes with it.

"This might be the needed break you've been waiting for. I told you long time ago, join my team. You're life will become easy, like, seriously."

"I know I can do it. Sports writing is something I find interesting. It's just that people are so lazy to read about sports and other stuff."

"Because that's old news, Aerin. We live in Korea, home of K-pop and K-dramas. Those things are ruling the world right now. That's a fact. And if you will continue being stubborn about it then you will definitely lose your job."

Aerin stood silent. It's not everyday that Jiah hit her hard emotionally. Losing her job is the one thing that scares her. She'll end up coming back to her abusive mother with her drunkard new man. That wouldn't happen anymore.

"Which member?" she finally gave up.

Jiah's face lights up. She frowned even more.

"Please tell me it's Kim Sunoo. He's the only one that I think I can be comfortable with. Among the seven members I think he's the most geniune. Don't give me Lee Heeseung. Please. Don't even think about it."

Jiah bites her lip upon hearing it. "Well, Aerin-- The thing is, we writers don't have the right to pick whoever we like to interview. Our editior in chief chooses him not us--"

"So, it's Lee Heeseung?!"

Jiah nods slow. "Yes. Unfortunately?"

Aerin slaps her face in disgust. "God! Why?"

"What do you mean why? And why do you hate him so much? He seems nice. And he's handsome. No debate on that."

"Eeww. Are you turning yourself to be one of Lee Heeseung's delulu fans now?"

"I cannot understand where the hate is coming from, Aerin. You don't know him personally so stop slandering him with your twisted tongue."

Even Aerin couldn't point out where the hatred is coming from. Maybe it's because Lee Heeseung is the coolest man she had ever seen. She hates cool guys. It's like they are born to be heartbreakers and are no remorse about it. She knows idols act like they are the nicest person in the whole world but in reality, they are masked puppets corrupting girl's minds leading them to delusion.

"Don't let me answer that. I don't want to go to jail because of cyberbullying."

"Is it because Lee Heeseung is a cool guy like Kang Minho? Geez, Aerin. Not all guys are like your stupid ex boyfriend--"

"Jiah, stop." she cuts her fast.

A moment of silence covered them both. It was so awkward and Aerin was guilty by her sudden bitterness. She don't mean to get frigid so easily.

"When is it?" she finally asked.

Jiah bites her lip not to let go of that scream. She knows Aerin hates being giddy, or any idea of it, not after what happened a couple of months ago. 

"Tomorrow. Hybe Building, Room 204. 11 AM sharp. Please wear something nice."

"Nice? What kind of nice? We are wearing corporate attire like everytime. Are you trying to tell me to dress up like those phantasmagorical fans wearing skimpy skirts and spotting on wigs and the heaviest makeup just to face an idol? No freakin' way!"

"I don't mean to say it like that. You need to be a little more exciting you know. Like you need to let go of that oomph, if you know what I mean. Do you want me to curl your hair, Aerin?"

"Stop! Like seriously. You're disgusting, Jiah!"

Jiah laughs hard and it freaks her out even more. It was a long time ago when she got a chance to interview an idol and it doesn't go well as planned. 

She was an intern, a normal girl with big dreams, and a silent kpop stan. Aerin put her best foot forward and was ready for the scheduled meeting but was cancelled without a warning because the singer wants another presenter, a male to be specific. Aerin overhead her making statements about interns and female writers, that they are brainless and the most biased journalist she had ever encountered.

On that day, she promised herself not to have any encounter with an idol on her entire writing career. She focused in sports writing and current events and struggled for years. Those categories are male and senior dominant fields and she finds it hard to fit in.

"I need to call Hybe you're doing it instead of me! This is it, Aerin! Who knows this is the needed break you always been dreaming of!" Jiah exclaimed.

"Entertainment writing? Worshipping idols just to make them more famous? Not the break I'm trying to get. Thank you very much."

She didn't know where the stubbornness is coming from. She was once an optimistic girl with full of dreams but her life turned into something different and far enough from what she imagined it to be, hence the pertinacity appears. It suppressed her. Controlled her for years. It was her healing emotion, a protection from any more ill-treatment, trauma and harm.

Some say, life is wonderful and live it with gratitude. Aerin finds it hard to agree for she cannot see eye to eye the truth in it. It's just an opinion that is overused and betrays everyone. 

Life sucks. And that's reality.

honestly, i only feel "to drop kwangya" once and for all. i can feel it like reinstalling my computer, with the same apps and everything else.

local success: knight of swords rx, the lovers rx, 9 of pentacles, the tower, 6 of cups rx • 3 of wands

however, this.. i hate all of these cards and how they're combinated. it won't be good at all but not for the reason you might expect to read. the whole support itself feels very odd not because of the k-netizens/k-mys but because of the "will you (to min heejin) crush aespa" text from hybe's chairman. the first card feels that everything is out of control and the second pretty much solidifies it. if hybe revealed all of their family-type scandals where it will probably turn into bulgarian type of corruption thing (from sort of political pov), sme's ones might become even messier when they happen to be revelaed. however, i am not saying that the comeback won't be successful because the first, the third and the fourth cards show that the comeback can be so successful that sme cannot control aespa's relevance at all. i really feel that at this point, with the change that happened surrounding sme long time ago, the company's changed managament in one way or another don't want aespa to be successful in the way lee sooman wanted them to be and if feels that's personal to the kwangya's whole idea concept-wise rather than the girls. maybe that explains why a new girl group debuts sooner than expected if i compare red velvet and aespa's debut time difference. i am expecting madness from the korean side for changing the idea aespa had started with.

although more lucky, the international relevance from aespa's first full album feels very pushy instead. sme will try their luck outside of korea, maybe usa, but i am not so sure that's the proper move, especially when aespa have the chance to have their luckiest chance to shine in korea. that feels why also koreans can be mad. like, sure, i-mys will love the promotions but no, koreans are coming back to critizise sme if needed. like .. this time for real.
