Ok so me and one of my friends came up with this silly headcanon…

Alastor gets up at the asscrack of dawn, most of us have pretty much agreed on that, yeah? So he asks his staff to wake him up at 4am every morning, with a sound that will be sure to keep him wide awake the first time around.

The sound he chooses for this, though, is screams. Not anyone’s scream- no, that won’t wake him up properly at all- but fabricated, artificial screams of those he loves. And, also per Alastor’s request, it is loud as hell.

So every morning, the entire hotel is woken up by either Lucifer or Charlie’s voice shrieking “OH GOD NO PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME”

There have been several complaints.

Context:

I originally started using the tag "Vox's One-Sided Psychosexual Obsession With Alastor (Hazbin Hotel)" for my fic series 666: Live On Air! and a lot of people thought it was snazzy enough to use in their own fics, to the point where there are now multiple pages of fics that use that tag! I recently noticed that the tag "Vox's Obsession with Alastor (TM)" got canonized, which was awesome!

However, out of the 71 works in that tag at the time of me noticing, 56 used at least the word "psychosexual" and most included the entire original tag I had started with. So I (honestly mostly figuring it was a long shot) sent AO3 Support an email mentioning that and asking if they could also canonize the original, because I genuinely thought it was both a well-liked and useful tag in full.

AND THEY DID! I AM SO PLEASED.

It would be really interesting if Baxter gets redeemed next (to follow the trend of characters finding redemption when they're not actively looking for it) because it would cause Angel to have a fucking breakdown, like, what is he doing wrong? Why is he still here? Why is nothing working? Is he just doomed to be in Hell forever? I think it would set for some very important scenes of what makes redemption possible and what one wants isn't always what one needs etc, etc. I love pain and suffering btw.

So it's basically established that Alastors staff is the source of a lot of his power, right? Like, as soon as Adam breaks it, Alastors radio voice breaks, his kaiju form disappears, and he can't do anything but run away.

What does it mean, then, that he handed it off to Charlie in cannibal town for a few minutes so she could sing her song? What kind of display of trust is that? He's clearly uncomfortable without it, taking it back the very moment it doesn't look like she needs it anymore. Is it just that he knows that Charlie can't really hurt him? That if it came down to it he could call in his favor to get his staff back? Is it because he's surrounded by no one but Rosie and her cannibals? He feels safe enough to let his guard down in the closest thing he has to a home in hell. It's the second most vulnerable we ever see him, and he does it so casually. What kind of trust is implied in that simple action?
