Always On VPN RRAS Centralized Monitoring and Reporting
A while back, I wrote about the monitoring and reporting options for Windows Server Routing and Remote Access (RRAS) servers supporting Microsoft Always On VPN. In that article, I outlined how administrators can use the Routing and Remote Access Management console (rrasmgmt.msc) or the Remote Access Management console (ramgmtui.exe) to perform configuration tasks and review current user and…

Quality and Quantity of Life for Seniors, in Senior Housing
Since my first years in senior housing and health care, and my work way back when with Alwyn Powell (AV Powell, AV Powell and Associates), I have been fascinated by the aging journey in care settings – lengths of stay, health care utilization, quality of life and quantity of life. I’ve supported numerous research studies and read dozens more. What was learned across my thirty plus years of work…

Health Status Update (Gut Punch Edition)
Hey all!  It’s been no surprise that it’s been kind of a crummy year so far for me, such as bad insomnia, getting ill and taking a while to recover from it, etc. The good news is that I learned that there’s something that’s causing ALL of it! The really bad news is that its Diabetes Type 2. I put on a lot of weight during the pandemic, and I’ve been seriously slacking at tracking what I eat in MyFitnessPal. So, I’ve seen my doctor and will be seeing a dietitian to get this all under control. The better news is that I’ve been wanting to make serious lifestyle changes anyway; I just wasn’t expecting to do this all so drastically and suddenly. The slightly worse news is that I’ve been sleeping and physically feeling like crap again. The best news is that I’m dealing with this all with a good, positive attitude! I’ve been wanting to lose weight anyway! At a rate of 1.5 pounds a week, I’m hoping to lose at least 60 pounds (27.21 kg / 4.28 stone) by the end of the year! I’d like to get down to 200. Then, since I know I am absolutely terrible at maintaining weight on my own, I’d use https://myfitnesspal.com/ to maintain. Hopefully, with enough weight loss, I can get this reversed. What does this mean for art? Right now it’s been a bit of a struggle to concentrate. I’m focused on my health for now. I’ll give regular updates on how it’s going! What do I need from you all? I am full up on advice; all I ask for is your continued patience, kindness, and support!

One of the best things an elderly parent can have is someone who knows and understands the importance of rest after years of hard work. It is critical to remember that enjoyment should be accompanied by elderly care from qualified professionals, as we all know that it can present physical challenges.

please can we stop describing bigots as delusional. please. im so fucking tired. someone being sucked into a hate group surrounded by others who believe minorities should be oppressed and encouraging them to believe in conspiracy theories that the rest of the group believes, is fundamentally different from someone having a mental illness that causes delusions.
delusions, by definition, cannot be explained by things like cultural background - such as having a belief constantly reinforced by intentional attempts to rationalize it for the sake of maintaining power over minorities. yes, someone can be both delusional and a bigot, and yes conspiracy theories can feed into delusions, but the two are not fucking synonymous.
i did not spend my teen years convinced that i was being stalked by demons just to hear so many of you people equate my disability with incel behavior and genocidal propaganda. stop reinforcing harmful connotations about mental health struggles.

Publishing has always been a fucking nightmare, but now it’s a layer of hell. It’s not enough that writers be good at what they do. Writers have to maintain an active social media presence and cultivate a following. Be available.
They have to be conventionally attractive enough to look good enough to see on a screen, aesthetically pleasing, kind, funny, up-to-date on trends, socially aware but not so controversial that they turn off a brand from California from slapping their discount code on a video promoting a book.
They have to do all of this with no media training, with little help from the companies that are supposed to be doing this for them.
Of course, a lot of this isn't possible for say, the 40-something mother of two who teaches English at a school and writes on the side. She’s boxed out of an already complex industry that already has enough walls.
On some level, I think authors have always marketed themselves a little, but we’ve reached such a crazy point where we’re demanding the author become the influencer. Accessibility in publishing has narrowed from an inch to a sliver. And that inch was hard enough to get in as is.

The Statue Head of Hygieia Found Stuck Between Two Rocks in Turkey
A 2100-year-old statue head of the Hygieia (Health) Goddess was found during the excavations in the ancient city of Laodikeia in Pamukkale, Denizli, southwestern Türkiye.
Laodikeia is situated in a geographical location on the south side of the Lycus River, 6 km north of Denizli. Laodikeia was the most famous and influential city in the 1st century B.C. The remains of the city are dated from this era.
The city was called ”Laodikeia on the edge of the Lycus” in ancient sources. According to other ancient sources, the city was founded by Antiochus II in 263-261 BC and named after Antiochos’ wife. The Romans made the city the center of Kybira’s conventus (Golhisar-Horzum) because of the geographical setting.

It encompasses the largest stadium in Anatolia, two theaters, four baths, five agoras, five fountains (nymphaeums), long colonnaded streets, impressive temples, and a myriad of churches and basilicas.
Earthquakes often plagued the town, and in 494 AD, a massive quake severely crippled the city. A further earthquake between 602-610 and an increasing threat from Arab raids led to the eventual abandonment of the city.
The excavations in the ancient city of Laodikeia are under the supervision of Pamukkale University Archaeology Department lecturer Prof. Dr. Celal Şimşek continues under the presidency.

Hygeia was the ancient Greek goddess of health. She gave her name to the philosophy of hygiene. Hygeia was a young goddess, daughter and chief attendant to Asklepios, the god of medicine. She was in charge of cleanliness and how to live a long life (preventive medicine).
In classical sculpture she was often shown holding or feeding a large snake (the symbol of Asklepion medicine) in her arms. Statues of Hygeia were erected in all the major healing centres sited in the temples of Asklepios. Her primary temples were in Epidaurus, Corinth, Cos and Pergamon.

Sometimes the traditional artist experience is sitting at your desk wobbling a piece of paper like a lunatic because you're impatient for the paint to dry so you can scan and post it for that sweet sweet digital validation of your life choices but then you used a lot of water, and so you gotta sit there for a while, staring at it till you half convince yourself that wobbling face is looking up at you and that hand is reaching for your face.

It's impossible to find a video about fashion history without an airhead who self-identifies as a fashion historian - because she LARPs on week-ends and owns a sewing machine - inserting a 5 minutes tirade in defense of corsets.

It is not like they do not consistently have chocolate week during the hottest times of the summer. The heat has always been an issue during chocolate week. So it’s not like it’s a surprise. You are telling me after over a DECADE, they haven’t modified the tent to make it bearable?!! You have not put in measures for the BAKERS OWN COMFORT?!
It is at this point that it is jeopardizing their health!
Put in fans, put in air conditioning, give the bakers WATER, allow them to REST. Modify the challenges to account for this temperature inside the tent.
PUT THE BAKERS SAFETY FIRST.
I should not be seeing bright red bakers and bakers on the verge of fainting!
Bake Off HAS THE FUNDS!
Take some of the money off of Paul and Prue’s paychecks and MODIFY THE FUCKING TENT.
Because I betchu that in the hottest days of the year, Paul and Prue are not feeling that heat one iota. They are in their trailers or inside a building and cool as a fucking cucumber.
Don’t deprive the bakers of that same accommodation.
To do otherwise after thirteen fucking years is perpetual, intentional negligence.
