Hawkins, Indiana is experiencing It's coldest winter ever (at least It feels that way), but at least It’s safe.

Everything is back to how it used to be, El is.. well, she's home and doing great.

The cabin Isn't as isolating as it was, It's mostly a hangout spot for the party. And sure, this wasn't an ideal situation, but El was allowed to go to school (finally) and Mike was happy, which let Lucas and Dustin breathe easy and for Will that meant he could go on with his life unbothered. And Max? Never Better.

She and El had clicked the second they had sorted out their differences.

To say that everything would be the same would be unfair and totally obscene, there are things that change you forever and fighting interdimensional monsters and then saving the world is one of them. But in some sense, some weird, twisted way they knew that it wasn't over. None if it was, perhaps it never would be normal again. Maybe... maybe this was simply the beginning of something bigger, something that would make everything they'd done look like the smallest detail.

These were all facts that they all had to face, one way or another. And they all knew that this day would come.

Just not today.

It started out like any normal Friday.

Mike woke up and got ready for school. He waited for Hopper, who dropped El off at his place every morning so they could walk to school. They got to walk together because it was safe and for the first time in years they could both just be together without being afraid.

“Now, look kid,” Hopper turned to El “This is the first day of the semester and I want you to be focused on your grades first, ok?”

She sighed.

“Yes dad” “And remember what we talked about?”

Another sigh - “I am under no circumstance allowed to use telekinesis whatsoever, I-”

“Need to be safe and powers aren’t safe” Hopper cut in, drawing her into an affectionate half hug, El felt all her previous anxiety and nervousness melt away.

“I’ll be safe, dad. Will you let me walk to school now?” she said, starting to grow impatient,

“Sure kid”

She got out of the car and waved her dad goodbye.

“And remember to tell Wheeler to keep his hands to himself!” Hopper yelled teasingly out the window as he drove away.

After her dad drove off she turned to the Wheeler house, only to see a beaming Mike walking towards her. She could never get tired of that smile, or the way his hair fell perfectly into his face, or his freckles or-

“El! “ she heard someone yell behind her, followed by the feeling of being tackled into the snow. That was of course her best friend, partner in crime, number one accomplice, the one and only : Max Mayfield. (Obviously followed by Dustin).

Max and Dustin had developed a close friendship during the three years, after accepting that Max probably wouldn’t ever like him back, Dustin decided to make the best of it and since then they’ve been nearly inseparable, and it turns out, they're really good at being friends. She taught him how to skateboard.

Standing up from the ground and pulling El up with her, Max noticed Mike “heart eyes” Wheeler still walking towards them.

“Might want to reel your tongue back in there Wheeler,” Lucas's voice suddenly filled their ears “you could catch a cold„

“Yeah, I heard of this guy that got an infection that way” Will said, suddenly appearing behind Lucas, a wicked grin on his face.

“That means nothing coming from you, you're totally whipped as well for Mayfield over there!” Mike yelled back with an eat-my-shit smile on his face.

“Yeah, whatever”

“Mr Edward's classes are honestly the worst” El sighed, walking out of her fourth period history class with Will.

“They’re not that bad when you think about it, actually”

“It probably wouldn't be if we actually did something other than taking tests and writing notes, I want t-“ She didn't get to finish the sentence.

“Well, if it isn't my favourite pair of dwarfs! How was your Christmas break, fairy? Fly away to another fairyland to meet all the other queers? ”

“I've broken your hand once and I'll do it again, Troy” El practically growled at him before Will could say anything, she could feel her heart beat faster by the second.

“That was three years ago, you haven't got anything on me princess”

“Wanna bet?”

“No you don't”

Just before El could launch herself on him she was caught by four pairs of hands, those being, of course, Mike, Lucas, Max and Dustin.

“Leave us the fuck alone, dickface” Max spat at him, holding a fuming El by the waist, holding her in place.

“Can’t you just drop it?” Mike growled at Troy, looking like he could just snap at any minute and attack him.

“Why would I, when it's so much fun to see your girlfriend get all riled up” he said, some sort of cocky grin forming on his face, while they walked away from him.

“Don’t answer him, just walk away” Max whispered to her friends, fastening her pace out of the hallway and making sure Troy saw her flip him off, Lucas wrapping a protective hand around hers.

“Thanks for saving us, I guess,” El mumbled quietly to the group once they got to the cafeteria, “Sorry Will„.

“It’s just Troy being a jerk like always” Mike said, planting a chaste kiss on El’s head as they picked out their lunch, “I’m just glad you didn't get hurt”

“You are forgetting that I could take on Troy any day of the week, I'm stronger than all of you combined….” El trailed off quietly shooting Mike a small, knowing smile.

“God, you are such a sap” Dustin chuckled as they sat down underneath the bleachers outside the school, their only one-hundred-percent safe place from other people.

It wasn't that they weren't safe, they just liked being alone, together.

It happened during sixth period. She was talking to Max and Mike about homework or some other miniscule subject.

Suddenly uniform clad men busted into the classroom, “Jane Hopper, you must come with us”

Fuck

Suddenly a state of panic and fear was brought over her, so she ran.

She broke a window and jumped out, ran as far as she could.

Of course she couldn't get away, they had clearly thought for everything.

From inside the classroom she could see Mike and Max in the window, Max crying on Mike's shoulder, screaming at the teacher to do something. You could almost see Mike's heart break and then the tears came, anger knowing he couldn't do anything, she was already gone.

That was the day that El Hopper learned that if she wanted to be saved she'd have to save herself. That day Mike Wheeler broke, Max Mayfield learned what missing someone really felt like, Dustin Henderson learned that loneliness can be felt even amongst people, Lucas Sinclair's biggest fears had come true and Will Byers learned that maybe evil never dies.

Let's assume that It was January. About halfway through the month, maybe the fifteenth or sixteenth. Let's also assume that neither of them thought anything bad would happen. We all make assumptions. look, i just made one for you.

Well, to be fair, nobody thought anything bad could happen at this point. It's been three years since they saw him die. At least they thought they did.

Southern Arkansas saw its ten-game winning streak snapped on Saturday in a 4-3 loss to Henderson State in the second game of the in-state foes' Great American Conference series, but the Muleriders responded in the finale with an 8-0 run-rule victory to win its fifth league series of the season and improve to 23-12 overall with a 16-4 record in conference play. In the series finale, Kiana Pogroszewski earned her tenth win of the season with a complete-game effort that saw her allow just one hit, while striking out five. Taylor Murphy opened up scoring in the victory with a two-run home run; her first of the season, to back Pogroszewski's stellar outing. Gracie King recorded an RBI single in the third to make it 3-0 Muleriders and in the fourth, Southern Arkansas struck for five runs to lead 8-0. Alyssa Miller singled home a run, Alese Casper walked in the fifth run, and a Jaxynn Dyson base hit plated one with an additional run scoring on a throwing error in that sequence. The fruitful frame was capped off by a bases-loaded walk, the second of the inning by HSU, to Tiare Lee. Southern Arkansas' bats were held at bay in the first game of the day as SAU produced just five hits with two coming in the last-chance seventh that nearly resulted in the visitors tying the game at 4. Dyson hit her seventh home run of the season in the top of the seventh that plated Casper who doubled for the seventh time this campaign to lead off the frame. The Muleriders' first run came in the second inning as a Taylor Murphy sacrifice fly scored King and cut into an early 4-0 deficit after the Reddies plated four in the home half of the first off of SAU starter Macie Welch. In two thirds of an inning, HSU built its early lead on four hits before chasing Welch in favor of Baylie Thornhill who tossed 5.1 scoreless innings in relief allowing just three hits with six strikeouts. Mariah Hamilton and Jade Miller each delivered three hits on the day. Casper scored three times. Dyson and Murphy each recorded three RBI. SAU remains in the top spot of the league standings and is two games up on both Harding and Arkansas Tech who each hold a 14-6 GAC record. The Muleriders prepare for a Tuesday doubleheader in Monticello as SAU will close out the split three-game GAC series with the Blossoms in the 2 p.m. opener, while the 4 p.m. affair will serve as a nonconference matchup. With inclement weather in the Oxford area causing Ole Miss softball’s fall ball exhibition with Henderson State to be postponed on Sunday, the matchup has been moved to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Rebels and Reddies will face off in a 10-inning exhibition at the Ole Miss Softball Complex in what will be the final home contest of the fall season for Ole Miss. Admission to the exhibition contest is free of charge, allowing fans the opportunity to get a preview of the Rebel newcomers and familiar faces alike.

Following Tuesday’s game, the Rebels will make the quick trip north to Memphis, Tennessee to close out the fall campaign against the Tigers of Memphis. The game, scheduled for 5 p.m. at the Tigers Softball Complex, is open to the public and admission is free.

The Rebels are undefeated in their previous six fall ball games, outscoring their opponents by an eye-popping 94-7 margin.

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The league-leading (RV) Southern Arkansas University softball team (21-11, 14-3 GAC) will continue with their eight-game road trip as they are set to take on Henderson State University (9-27, 6-11 GAC) in a three-game Great American Conference series in Arkadelphia. The series will get underway on Friday evening with a single game at 5:00 p.m., followed by a double header on Saturday afternoon that is set to start at 2:00 p.m. The Muleriders come into this weekend's series riding a nine-game win streak which includes three straight GAC series sweeps over Ouachita Baptist, East Central University and Southeastern Oklahoma State. Since starting GAC play back on February 27th, the Muleriders have outscored GAC opponents 100-33 and have scored 10 or more runs in five of those 17 games. After a slow start to their season, which includes 11 straight losses to open up the year, the Reddies have shown signs of improvement as they have won six games in GAC play. HSU was able to take a series from Southern Nazarene after picking up two wins top open GAC play, and they were also able to take a series from Southwestern Oklahoma State after taking them down twice at home last weekend. HSU's other two GAC wins came against Northwestern Oklahoma State and Arkansas-Monticello. SAU has four players with 20 or more hits on the season. Jade Miller leads the squad with 45 hits, which ranks 27th in NCAA DII and 3rd overall in the GAC. Alese Casper has collected 30 hits on the year, while Jaxynn Dyson (28) and Madison Miller (20) round SAU's top hitters. Tiare Lee is not far behind as she has 19 hits through 17 games played. J. Miller carries a team leading .388 batting average, while Casper continues to see her average rise as she is batting .309. J. Miller also leads the team in runs (31), homeruns (9), and RBI (22). Casper is second on the squad with 24 runs scored, while Dyson is second on the team with 21 RBI. Dyson and Sarah Evans have both hit six homeruns, while Lee and M. Miller have both hit four. Lee is third on the team in RBI with 19, while Evans has collected 18 followed by M. Miller with 17. Casper and Taylor Murphy lead the team with 12 walks apiece. The Muleriders continue to stay hot in the circle, as the pitching staff of Sydney Ward, Kiana Pogroszewski, Baylie Thornhill, and Macie Welch carry a 1.74 ERA, which ranks 14th best in NCAA DII and 1st in the GAC. Ward leads the team with a 10-3 record through 83.2 innings pitched to go along with a team high 78 strikeouts. She as allowed 27 runs (21 earned) on 65 hits. Pogroszewski leads the team and the GAC with her 1.18 ERA and it also comes in as the 24th best ERA among NCAA DII players. She currently holds an 8-3 record through 71.1 innings in the circle to go along with 71 strikeouts. KP has only allowed 20 runs (12 earned) on 53 hits. Macie Welch leads the Muleriders and is tied for 1st in the GAC with three saves, which is also 9th best in the country. Welch has tossed 37.0 innings in the circle and has two wins to go along with her three saves. She has struck out 38 batters and has allowed 13 runs (10 earned) on 34 hits. Baylie Thornhill carries a 2.21 ERA and has one win in 25.1 innings pitched. Thornhill has struck out 27 batters and has allowed 11 runs (eight earned) on 27 hits allowed. HSU has four players with 25 or more hits. The Reddies are led by Justine Burch (34), Abbie Moore (31), Brooke Johnson (27) and Madison Treutlein (26). Treutlein leads the team with a .356 batting average, while Burch carries a .374. Moore leads HSU with 19 RBI, 17 runs and seven homeruns. The Reddies hold a .260 team batting average and they have been outscored 226-116 on the season. Erika Bittinger leads HSU with a 4-4 record through 64.0 innings pitched. She has allowed 73 hits and 45 runs (38 earned) to go along with 27 strikeouts. Johnson and Savannah Carrigan have both pitched 63.1 innings and they both have two wins.
