Los odres eran una especie de sacos hechos con el cuero de los cerdos utilizados para transportar el pulque, aunque también se utilizaba el de los chivos. El animal era despellejado y era sometido a proceso de curtido, quedando casi entero, con todo y patas a excepción de la cabeza. Al ser llenado con la bebida el chancho se inflaba de tal modo que parecía estar vivo... solo que sin cabeza.
