Got a bit into Stormblood. I got a bit excited early on because I’ve decided my character is from Ala Mhigo (exhibit A: he is brown) and we’re here to liberate it! Got a new outfit for the occasion and equipped the ‘Liberator’ title. Only uhh. Well. The writing isn’t... doing them any favors.
They’ve built up a lot of goodwill from Heavensward so I’m gonna... I’m just gonna keep on rolling along despite the writing taking a marked downturn for the most part. The villain’s introduction was hammy and a bit camp and he clearly subscribes to Warhammer 40k rules of ‘bigger character, bigger pauldrons, Obvious Leader Material for his fascist empire’. He’s kinda fun and I get what they’re doing by making him an insurmountable threat in Act 1. He is rather silly though in several ways that I’m not sure really fit, tonally, for what they’re going for. I know a lot of people here like him a lot so I won’t say anything too critical of him but uhhh... giving him a golf bag full of swords was. A choice.
But let’s be positive. Things I like so far: Lyse and character development thereof, the main character canonically having the chance to refer to Alphinaud as ‘Alphy’ (even though I didn’t take that dialogue option for other reasons), the music and voice acting remains good.
Anyhow this was mostly an excuse to show off my fun new oufit that leans into the early dieselpunk look a bit for my whole magitek gunbreaker thing i got goin’ on. Kept the cowboy boots, though. :V

Saw some Malevolent on my dash, so I thought I'd talk about the mixed feelings I have about it now.
Like... that first season was really fuggin good, you know? I loved the acting and editing, I loved the mystery, I loved the "choose your own adventure" schtick. It had tons of little threads in it to latch onto and spin theories about, as I am wont to do.
The thing is, all those little threads ended up being references to old games the creator ran-- which is cool and fine, except that meant the clues I'd been reading into were really just easter eggs. Season 2 came, the mystery element evaporated (a p big letdown after the strong season 1 finale), and the main characters wandered around in a new environment with almost no links back to the mysteries I'd gotten excited about in season 1. That's when the bigger problems got harder for me to ignore. Character interactions started to feel repetitive: Arthur and John were getting along, then they had a fight, then they cooperated to get through a crisis and just like that the conflict from before was ignored. Disconnected encounters I'd handwaved as a product of the poll-driven story fell into the same pattern without anything solid besides "we need to get out of the Dreamlands" driving them forward.
Then I found out what the big thing Arthur felt bad about concerning his daughter was and well... idk. I got the sense that the creator wanted me to feel bad for Arthur because his neglect killed his kid (no idea how that works btw, since there's a part in Season 3 where he's remembering teaching her how to play piano. How the fuck does an able-bodied old-enough-to-play-piano kid drown in a bathtub?). The reveal just fell flat for me, but hey at least Arthur didn't want sympathy for what he'd done in-universe.
I'd hoped that when they got out of the Dreamlands we'd see a return to form and we could experience more mystery-solving stuff, but instead we got a completely new place, none of the characters we'd met before, and a confused understanding of what amnesia is. Idc what Arthur thinks, John and Yellow are the same fucking person, and the mental gymnastics he does to hate one and love the other don't make any sense for a person with any amount of empathy-- ahem. Anyways.
I stopped listening maybe halfway through season 3 when I got tired of Arthur and John fighting and realized their ouroboros of a character arc wasn't going to change anytime soon. There are other things I could talk about with fridging female characters, villains with mental illness, etc etc, but I don't want to get into it too hard. The real frustrations I've had have been with character consistency and how little Malevolent seemed like a whole-ass story by the time I'd dropped off. Stories aren't necklaces: you can't just string a lot of pretty disconnected scenes together and call it a day.

Previously...
Then y'all had another round of hot steamy sex. And the others at the base had a hard time sleeping that night.
«••••••••••••••»
Your eyes twitch at the unpleasant light hitting it directly. 'It's morning already?' you moved around only to feel wet sheets. 'What happened last night?'
Then you felt a body move and a muscular arm grab you, pulling you closer. You could feel the warmth, and muscular chest pushed against your back.
'Oh! That's right!' now you remembered why you were all sticky and sleeping against Chris. 'I had sex with my superior! But he felt the same.'
Then you felt Chris move around and waking up. "Hey, baby boy," Chris said with a raspy and deep voice. "Morning." you pressed your lips against his.
"If you continue, we may have to repeat what we did last night, baby," Chris growled as pulled back, gripping your waist. You smirked before getting up.
"Come one, we have to get ready. We have important business," you said. "Ugh, can't we just sleep in and have some... Fun?" Chris complained.
"I know you haven't had sex in 5 years but we need to go get those people. We'll have fun at the end of the day," you said stressing your muscles and popping your back.
The bed creaked meaning he finally got off his ass to get ready. "We need to go get those survivors. And scavenge for more supplies," you said putting your armor on and fixing it up.
After you both got your gear and weapons, you both walked into the main area with all the others.
Everybody looked at you both and immediately looked at way. There was awkwardness in the room. 'They must have heard me last night!' Hell! maybe the whole city heard it is quiet
"Uh,- sir... We have a situation." one of the soldiers said. "shot." Chris said. "Well... it turns out there weren't that many supplies found on the campus. We need more supplies if weren't gonna go get those survivors." the soldier said
You heard listening but your mind began to wonder. You still couldn't let go of the past, you remembered one of your siblings was accepted into MIT. This was 3 months after the Raccoon City Incident.
You would see on the news- Raccoon City survivors being discriminated against by the American people. "Hey, what do I keep saying?" Chris said next to you. His conversation was done.
"Stop thinking about the past, it's long gone," you replied, mimicking his voice. Chris laughed, "Okay, baby. But we need to go get those people."
You nodded but kind of chuckled at the fact that he didn't want to do anything today but now wants to do business.
"Come on, M/n! We have to get going. EVERYONE, protect the base at all cost." Chris commanded. "YES SIR!" they all said at the same time.
You, Chris, and a few others left the confines of the base. Even though it was morning, the sky still had a grey color to it. You open the door to the back seat and closed it.
"We should be there in 20 minutes or less." the driver said starting the engine up. "Alright, let's go." the armored car pulled out before driving down the messy road.
It wasn't long before you reached the waterfront. You could see the skyline perfectly, most buildings were on the verge of collapsing. Others were burnt to where the wall showed the skeleton.
Up ahead, you saw a bridge leading into Cambridge was destroyed. 'Longfellow Bridge.' You have been to Boston before and got to explore everything before the world went hell.
The ride continued for a while. There was nothing or anyone in sight. You could see the freeway ahead but like all other ways leading into Cambridge was destroyed.
"We're closing in on Bunker Hill. They said they are taking refuge by the monument." one of them said.
And wouldn't you know it? In the distance, you could see the tall granite obelisk peaking out. It kind of looked like the one down in D.C. but this one is still standing.
What you meant by "This one is still standing" is because the capital was hit by a nuclear warhead, along with other cities across the US.
The President and other government officials were evacuated and the countries important documents were evacuated as well. So, the legacy of the US would still live.
That means the President is still alive and is in some remote area devoid of zombie life.
"I see some people! They appear to be walking around." one of the soldiers said. And the people seem to notice us because they were waving at us.
"Stop the car," Chris said, the car stopped. He and others got out. Two of the survivors looked familiar? Like you have seen them before. They both were tall and had beards.
They walked up to y'all. "Please, are you here to rescue us?" one of them pleaded. "Yes, we're here to take you to our temporary base," Chris said.
They all smiled and some hugged each other. Chris ordered the soldiers to help some things and you approached the two survivors. "Why do you two look familiar?"
One of them laughed and smiled. "Well...- are you fan of Captain America and Thor?"
Your jaw dropped and your eyes widen. "No. Way. You're Chris Evans and Hemsworth!" you were lost at speech. "I thought y'all was dead! I- how-"
"Well, we survived! I'm not too sure about the others though..." Chris H said with that thick Australian accent. You both were just talking, unknown to Chris R was glaring holes into your head.
After y'all returned to MIT Dorms, you still talked with Chris E and H. You didn't even acknowledge Chris R's glares.
He was getting more and more jealous. 'I hate those two!' Chris yelled in his mind. They were taking your attention from him.
"We have to go M/n! We need to find supplies." Chris yelled at you. 'What's wrong with him?' you thought to yourself. "Bye guys!" You waved at the two Chris.
"He was fun to talk to." Chris H said and Chris E agreed.
«••••••••••••••»
TIMESKIP (To Supermarket)
«••••••••••••••»
You and Chris arrived at the market. There were some abandoned cars in the parking lot. "Come on." You both walked to the doors and opened them.
The place was absolutely trashed. Lights flickering, aisles tipped over, some cans on the floor - also money, which was useless-, and the roof caved in on the left side.
"Look for non-perishables. Canned food would be good and find any water- if there is any that is." you nodded your head before going down one of the aisles.
There were some canned foods but no water. The smell of a rotting corpse filled the air, you could hear flies buzzing. "Ugh." you covered your nose and looked at the rotting corpse. "Poor bastard..."
Meanwhile, Chris was looking for the same stuff, but he was still bitter about you talking to those guys. And completely ignoring him. He could already imagine your punishment.
He could imagine you begging for more, feeling the tightness of your ass wrapped around his cock. 'Shit.' Chris was getting hard. His cock was feeling restricted by the tight pants.
"Hurry up, M/n!" Chris yelled from the other side of the store. "Okay!" you finished gathering anything you could find. 'Why are we leaving early? We have few more places to loot/raid.'
You left the aisles and made your way to the front doors. "Come on, we have to go." you both we made went to the vehicle and drove back to base.
You had found some supplies. 15 canned foods, and some water as well. It wasn't much, but it's something.
«••••••••••••••»
TIMESKIP (Arrival at the base.)
«••••••••••••••»
You and Chris arrived at MIT. You were gonna go talk with Chris E and H, but Chris R wasn't having it.
"Hey-" Chris grabbed your hand and began to rush to the room. Everyone knew what was gonna happen. 'Ah, shit- there gonna go at it again.'
At the room, Chris pinned you against the wall and latched his lips onto yours. The kiss rough, his much larger body pushed against yours shows the difference in size.
His tongue pushed against your teeth telling you to open them. You slowly pushed your mouth, Chris immediately pushed his tongue and invaded your mouth.
"Mmm-" you moaned into the kiss as Chris began to grip your ass. "Up." He growled into your ear. You wrapped your legs around his waist and continued to make out.
He lifted you and carried you to the bed. He slammed you onto your back before pulling away and attacking your neck. "A-ah!" Chris found your sweet spot.
"You belong to me, M/n! I claimed you that night we had sex last night!" Chris growled. "Strip." he quickly removed his clothes, leaving him in his boxers.
You could see the outline thick meaty cock. "You got hard from just kissing me?" you laughed. "You don't talk me like that! You're the slut here." Chris growled as he gripped and slapped your thighs.
You whimpered under the touch. "Look at you, whimpering under me. And your pathetic cock got hard from me hitting you. But let's see what this ass has to say." Chris said as he put your legs on his shoulders
You then felt his thick slicked fingers at your entrance. One finger slips in, your muscles immediately clenched at the invader. "M-mm." you gripped the sheets as his finger pushed deeper.
Then a second finger went in. You clench even more as it did a scissor motion. "Aagh!" you felt his fingers touch the bundle of pleasure. "You're ready."
Chris pulled his fingers out to see your hole doing a grabbing motion. 'Fuck... that's hot.' Chris threw his head back while jerking his cock. "Can't wait to pound this slutty boipussy."
You felt his fat tip push past your tight ring. "Mmm... C-Chris!-"
Smack
"YOU DON'T CALL ME THAT! You didn't learn from last time? You. Call. Me. Sir. You got that?" Chris growled/yelled. "Y-yes, Sir... It's just that... You're so big..." You whimpered.
Then with one Thrust, Chris pushed his entire cock inside. "See? You're taking all 12 inches of me! Fuck, so tight..." Chris groaned. His cock was touching your prostate.
His thick meaty cock filled your insides perfectly. Like you were made for each other. "Y-you're... splitting m-me... in two!" you moaned as you felt it throb and twitch.
"P-please... fuck me... make me your slut." you begged. Chris smirked before snapping his hips.
He began pounding into you. His big cum-filled balls smacked against your ass as he thrusts harder. "S-sir! Y-you feel... s-so good!" You moaned as you threw your head back and gripped the sheets tighter.
"You think those guys can fuck you like I do?! Only I can give you this pleasure, only me!" Chris growled as he thrust harder, hitting your prostate repeatedly.
You used the last of your strength to get up and wrapped your arms around Chris's neck. You clawed his back as he thrust more, you were sure those were gonna leave marks.
"Maybe those guys can give me more pleasure," you smirked at your fake statement. You heard a deep growl as Chris dropped you on the bed and flipped you onto your stomach.
"You fucking slut! Only I can give you this much pleasure! Those guys don't deserve you. Bet their cocks aren't as big as mines." Chris growled as he gripped your hips.
Sounds of skin-slapping and balls slapping against your ass filled the room and the others in the building had to hear it. The walls weren't soundproof.
Your cock was twitching, ready to release a load. "You're about to cum without me touching you! Well, I'm -FUCK- about to cum too." Chris groaned as you tighten around him.
"P-please... give me... y-your load!" You moaned as you arched your back to give Chris more access. "Want me to fill this slutty ass with my cum? Gonna... cum... soon!"
After 5 more thrusts, Chris reached his breaking point, and so did you.
"FUCK! I'M CUMMING! CUM WITH ME!" Chris groaned, he wrapped his hand around cock stroking it before you released it all over his hand. That was enough for him.
"FUCK!" you felt his cock twitch before pumping his hot load inside, filling you up to the brim.
*Breathing intensifies*
Chris collapses onto the bed right next to you with his cock still inside. You felt him pull out with his cum leaking out. "I'll never leave you for those two. My heart only beats for you," you said sincerely turning over to face him.
"I'll never leave you too. We'll be together until our time runs out." Chris said pulling you into a kiss filled with passion and love.
'There is still Love in a Hopeless World.'
THE END.

Can I get Wilbur, Philza, Technoblade, and Awesamdude (separately) dealing with a giggly, happily drunk reader, who is very nice to everyone but immediately goes into “I love youuuu, let me stay with you foreverrrrrrrr” cuddly lovesick puppy mode and proceeds to latch onto them for the rest of the night.
I hope you enjoy this! ♥
In Game and Female Reader
Warnings: Implied underage drinking(?)
A/N: I wanted to do like ten different things with these that would have been tooo long and strayed too far off path and then when I did have something I hated it. So, long story short, I had trouble writing it. Sorry it took so long! I’ve also never watched Sam I’m only just getting to the livestreams he was in with Tommy, I hope his character is good.
        Wilbur
It had been a celebration of the freedom of L’Manberg.
Naturally, the men and their lady of the hour wanted to go all out and finally have fun after all the war and bloodshed. There were some things they wanted to forget as well, such as the betrayal of one of their own. For once, Wilbur didn’t join in with the drinking that had started, simply just wanting to rest till what felt like the end of time after everything.
Luckily, he hadn’t as now as he chuckled at (Y/N) rambling on about how adorable sheep were as they sat on the ground.
“I mean, we can make them different colors, and they just don’t give a fuck. And their little faces.” She put her hands close together. “I want a pet sheep Wilbur.”
He laughed as he stood up. “I think it’s time we got you to bed love.”
“What? No, the party is so much fun.” She motioned with a smile at the men away from them, doubled over in laughter.
He took her hand, pulling her up carefully. “But I believe you’ve had too much to drink. Your face is red, so let’s get you home.”
She was quiet before grabbing his hand again, smiling. “Ok.”
“Good. Make sure you get some sleep tonight boys, we got work to do.”
He got a few responses between their laughter, shaking his head before he led (Y/N) away through the cool night. Her house had resided outside the L’Manberg walls but Dream and his friends took care of that. So, instead, Wilbur led her to the van, deciding to let her stay there for the night.
“Alright love. You’re going to stay here tonight?”
“I like it when you say, love.” She giggled. “It makes me feel all fuzzy.”
He blushed slightly as he chuckled. “I’m sure it’s just all the drinks you had. Now, you get comfortable and I’ll…”
He let go of her hand, only to jump as she latched onto his arm.
        “No.” She whined. “Stay here.”
“What are you doing (Y/N)?” He asked confused.
“I don’t want you to go. I love you. And you’re so warm.” She huffed, putting her forehead against his arm as she held out a few of her words.
Wilbur was red as he watched the woman beside him.
“(Y/N), you shouldn’t say those things. Come on, let’s get your uniform off.” He told her gently as he took his arm back from her only for her to hug him around the middle instead, making him laugh in surprise. “(Y/N)!”
“Don’t go.” She spoke muffled into his chest. “Stay forever.”
He softened as he took her hat off, putting it down on a chest as he ran a hand through her hair. “I’m not going anywhere darling. I’m just trying to make you comfortable. So, can we please get your uniform off?”
She pouted but let go, letting him help her take her jacket and accessories off. Plopping on the bed, she struggled but managed to get her shoes off as Wilbur laid down her uniform next to her hat.
“Alright, you need to get some rest ok? I’m going to go sleep in the front.” He explained to her, going for the door but she took his sleeve.
“Stay with me. You’re so warm and you give the best hugs and I love you.” She rambled.
Wilbur went red again as he looked at the door. He didn’t want to just stay here with her while she was drunk, probably unable to remember any of this in the morning, but she was stubborn even drunk. There was a voice in the back of his head telling him she would most certainly just follow him. So, with a sigh, he sat on the bed next to her.
“Alright, but you have to sleep.”
She grinned as Wilbur leaned back against the headboard. Coming over, she hugged him as she put her head on her chest, half on him as she hummed.
“Good night Mr. President.” She giggled as Wilbur put a hand on her back.
“Good night darling.” He muttered, running his other hand through her hair.
It took a few minutes but she fell asleep on him and he was red as he watched her. It did feel warm like this and felt so right and comfortable. Maybe in the morning, after he explained the situation that they were in, he’d finally tell her how he felt to celebrate their victory further. He wasn’t getting any sleep tonight.
          Philza
Phil had been with (Y/N) for a long time, dating what felt like even longer. They had been on many travels together and seen the same amount of shit in their lifetime. Naturally, that called for a drink or two.
In the end, it was always Phil that could his liquor better than his girlfriend and he would usually just have a good laugh at her antics. She was very giggly and thought almost everything was hilarious and this time was no different.
“And, and he just fell. And I felt so bad for laughing but I did.” She giggled as she leaned on the table, Phil giving an amused chuckle.
She went to take another drink, but Phil took it from her. “I think that’s all for you tonight sweetheart.”
“You’re so good for me Phil.” She hummed, resting her arm on the table before putting her head in her hand. “Always making sure I’m ok.”
“Well, you help take care of me too.” He reminded her as he got up, starting to clean.
“Yeah, but you’re so much better at it. You’re so good at fighting and stuff. You also look good fighting.”
He laughed at that as he came back over to her. “Do I now?”
“Mhm. And-And your hair is so soft and your eyes are really pretty.”
“Yeah, I think it’s time for you to go to bed. Come on.” He helped her up.
As he did, she latched onto him and he knew what phase she was in her drunkenness, the clingy phase.
“You’re going to come with me, right?” She pouted up at him as she nuzzled into him.
“Of course.” He chuckled, putting a hand on top of her head.
“Good, because I love you. Just don’t tell Techno, he thinks it's gross.”
He put a hand over his mouth to muffle his laughter, nearly doubling over. “I won’t…God, I won’t. Holy shit.”
“Phil, you’re supposed to say it back.” She whispered as he led her to their bedroom once he could breathe right.
“I’m sorry sweetheart, I love you too.” He kissed her forehead, making the woman giggle in joy.
“Philza Craft loves me.” She squealed as she hugged onto him tightly.
“Yes, yes.” He nodded, chuckling quietly as he managed to unlatch her from him to get her into bed.
He made sure she dressed comfortably before they started drinking, knowing that this is where it would lead. Before she could protest, he got in beside her and pulled her in, hugging her close as he let his wings unfurl and laid one on top of them. She grinned, nuzzling into his chest, acting as if they didn’t do this all the time.
        “You’re-You’re the best.” She muttered.
        “Thank you, now sleep, angel.”
“You’re the only angel here. Good night.” She hummed.
        “Good night.”
With that, the two were able to sleep easily into the night.
          Technoblade
Just a couple glasses of wine, it will be fine, they said.
Now Techno didn’t know how the hell to deal with his best friend.
(Y/N) and a few of the others in Pogtopia had decided to have a few rounds of drinks, Techno deciding to opt-out of it as they made it into a party and he just wasn’t that into parties. Yet, now, here he stood as his best friend was giggling like an idiot at Wilbur’s stupid joke. He didn’t know how easy his friend got drunk but here was the proof.
Techno was trying to think of a way to get her away from the group without her putting up a fight when Tommy came over to her.
“Hey (Y/N), you know those diamonds you got the other day,” Tommy asked her, making Techno squint as he listened.
“Oh yeah!” She nodded with a wide smile.
“Want to know what would be cool? If I could have them.”
        There was no way…
        “Sure!”
        That’s it.
“Tommy, are you really trying to scam your ally while she’s drunk?” Techno came over, arms crossed.
Tommy paled as he quickly waved his hands. “No! No! Why would you think that! I’m just going…I hear Tubbo calling for me!”
The younger boy scampered off as Techno looked at (Y/N), seeing her pout at him.
        “That was mean Techno.”
“He was trying to steal from you (Y/N), you’ll understand in the morning.” Techno rolled his eyes.
“Tommy wouldn’t do that. I’m going to apologize to him for you.” She huffed, but Techno grabbed her arm.
“Nuh-uh.” He shook his head as he pulled her back in front of him. “You’re not going anywhere; you’re staying here with me so I can make sure you don’t do something you’ll regret in the morning.”
Then the girl smiled, giggling again. “You always look out for me Techno.”
He was sent through a loop by her sudden change in emotions but merely shook his head. “Because I have to. You’d be dead without me.”
That wasn’t true. While his friend was one of the nicest people he met, you mess with her and she became a whole new person that could hold her own with ease.
“E-Exactly.” She hummed, hugging onto his arm, making him stiffen. “You’re so great Techno.”
“Yeah, I know.” He tried to brush the emotions he felt off as he decided to make use of her holding onto him to lead her away.
“I hope you never leave Techno.”
“I can’t ever leave you.” He muttered truthfully.
“You’re really good at keeping secrets, right?” She asked as he brought her into her room in the cavern.
“I’d say so, yeah.” He nodded.
“I’m going to tell you a big secret. You can’t tell Technoblade.” She said and he opened his mouth to say he was in fact that same person but she spoke first. “I love Technoblade. He’s just so cool and nice and I love him.”
        Techno.exe has stopped working.
Techno tried to remember where he was and what he was doing. It took a few tries but he finally got his mind working.
“Heh?!” He looked at her in shock.
“Shh, he can’t know Techno.” She giggled.
“…I don’t what the hell I’m going to do with you.” He mumbled, taking off his mask to run a hand down his face.
“You’re going to keep it a secret right?” She pouted at him.
“Yeah, now you need to go to bed. Like, right now.” He decided, taking his arm from her and turning for the door only for two arms to wrap around him from behind.
“No! You promised you wouldn’t leave.”
“I’m not leaving you idiot; I’m going to my room and letting you sleep yours.”
“Please don’t go Techno. I always sleep better when I know you’re close by.”
He didn’t know what to do. What were you supposed to do when your best friend you liked told you while they were drunk that they liked you back thinking you weren’t the same person?! His mind was fried and he didn’t have any ideas of how to get her to relent, so instead, he did.
Sighing, he took his arms off him so he could turn around. “Alright, come on. Get comfortable.”
She grinned before going over to her bed. After only taking a jacket and her shoes off, she got comfortable and he gave a long sigh before sitting beside her. As soon as he did, she put her head in his lap, humming with that dorky smile.
“Go to sleep. I’ll be here.” He promised as he ran a hand through her hair.
“Thank you. Good night Techno.” She muttered.
He didn’t say anything as she fell asleep. Yeah, he didn’t know what the hell he was going to deal with this in the morning, but he supposed he should just enjoy this moment.

“Fuck!” (Y/N) shouted across the room where the Badlanders were spending the night.
        “Language!” Bad shouted at her.
She giggled with Ant, Sam chuckling as he watched the two. It was just a simple party, nothing to celebrate just a moment between friends with a few drinks sent around. Sam had participated in some of the events but had stayed out of most of it, deciding instead to watch his friend as she had a generous number of drinks.
“I’m sorry Bad! I didn’t mean it!” (Y/N) called to him.
“You should do it again though.” Ant tried to convince her.
“No, I don’t want to be mean to Bad.” She laughed, going to have another drink.
“I think that’s enough for now.” Sam intervened, taking the drink carefully from her hand.
“Aww.” She pouted. “Ok. Thank you, Sam.”
He nodded as he put it down. “Good. You can still have fun, just nothing more to drink.”
“Alright. I can do that Sam. Have some fun with us?”
        “Sure.” He agreed.
He didn’t do much with the group, however, mostly just sticking by the young woman’s side, though he didn’t have much choice in the matter. He had already planned on keeping an eye on her as he did know how easily tricked, she was into doing what others wanted, such as shouting fuck across the room, as they had been friends for a while; but this time was different. Usually, it was a fight to get her to stay by his side but this time, she refuses to leave his side.
The creeper-hybrid was genuinely surprised as she followed him where ever he went.
“Normally you want to be with everyone else, what’s new today?” He raised an eyebrow.
“I just want to stay with you forever!” She grinned as she took his hand. “That would be nice wouldn’t it?”
He looked at her surprised as he nodded slowly. “Yeah, that would be. But, why do you want to?”
“Because I love you silly.” She said as it was the simplest thing.
“I uh…” His smile grew as he processed her words. “Really?”
        “Duh.”
He didn’t mean it to go to his head as his friend was drunk but it did.
“What about me do you, love?”
“You’re super smart and you’re really good at fighting.” She started to list and he laughed.
“Alright, alright. No need for all that. Maybe we should get you home. I think you had more drinks than I realized.” He scratched the back of his head.
“Aw, ok.” She gave a pout before he led her away and to her home.
He took out her hidden spare key she had told him about and unlocked the door as he went inside.
“Ok, home safe and sound. You get some sleep alright? I’ll see you in…”
“No.” She whined as she grabbed his arm. “You said it’d be nice to stay forever so please Sam. Stay.”
“No, I think it’s smarter if I leave so you’re not confused in the morning.”
“I don’t care. Please, Sam. Stay.” She pouted at him and he felt his heart race slightly before humming.
“Yeah, ok. Just to make sure you’re alright.” He nodded. “I’ll stay in the living room.”
“No, come with me. It’s cold and you’re warm.” She said, making him blush.
“I uh…Hey, slow down.” Sam protested as she dragged him along by his hand. “(Y/N).”
She pulled him into her room and sat on her bed, giving him a puppy dog eyed face. His heart melted as he tried to stay strong but sighed.
“Ok, but if you kill me in the morning, I’m haunting your ass.”
She grinned, throwing up her arms. “Yeah.”
“Ok, ok, come on. Let’s get comfortable.”
The two of them shed the unnecessary layers and laid in bed. (Y/N) cuddled into Sam’s side and he put his arm around her back, gently running a hand along her side. Before another word was breathed, (Y/N) was asleep and Sam chuckled lightly.
“Good night, I hope you say the same thing tomorrow.” He muttered before sleeping himself for the night.

i love comics but getting into a series/character and trying to actully read stuff about them is kind of stressful and anxiety inducing for me cause theres so much content and i just dont know where to start or what to avoid. how do you deal with this??? can you even? or do all comic fans just go fullspeed no seatbelts on and just hope for the best 😭
See personally I don’t really do the ‘avoid’ thing, I’m definitely a ‘I will eventually read it all, both the good and the bad, because I want to understand all of what’s happened’ type of person with characters I like. I only really know how to go all in with stuff, it’s how I’ve always been with my various interests in my life.
Like truthfully my uhhh… comics journey has definitely been a ‘just roll with it and hope for the best’ situation, it went something like:
in 2013/2014ish my friend told me to watch the YJ cartoon -> I watched the cartoon and really liked it (especially Bart) so I decided to try reading superhero comics a little (previously i’d only read like… jthm + lenore the cute little dead girl comics) -> I read Bart’s comic and meanwhile when I had mentioned to some irl friends I wanted to read more DC stuff, two of them started just kinda handing me random stuff to read (the first ones were the Our Worlds at War omnibus from my friend Rory, and then N52 era Batfam stuff like Death of the Family [bc that was… pretty recent at the time] from my friend Jacob) -> I learned about Jason and latched onto him a lot, I also learned there was a female Robin named Steph and read more about her life and story and latched the FUCK on because this was right around the time lots of stuff in my personal life was happening that made her really resonate with me -> I just kinda obtained more comics and read them with little context, just rolling with it (A decent chunk of Teen Titans Vol. 5 actually bc that was current around this point) -> continued doing that among my other interests for a few years, then especially when Rebirth first hit getting a decent amount of stuff (I have physical copies of quite a few of the initial Rebirth things) -> start college and be too busy to pay attention to comics much anymore -> like 3 or 4 years go by -> pandemic happens, get randomly reminded how much I loved comics and just fucking deep dive into them more intensely than ever before this time around developing a newfound focus on Tim -> and that’s how we got Here, Now.
so not terribly organized, very disjointed and all over the place djdjdjhs

thoughts on reputation by lex croucher
first my non-spoilery thoughts (mostly non-spoilery. light spoilers for tone and general content): this book was so good and also SO STRESSFUL. haha. if you’re going into it expecting a light read, this isn’t it, but it’s incredibly funny (like seriously so so funny, there was probably at least one phrase or sentence on every page that gave me a little chuckle inside) and has a lot of really important things to say. and the stress does pay off for a very cathartic ending. you’re gonna suffer, but you’re gonna be happy about it etc.
honestly the two things I care the most about in books these days are if they’re funny and if they have characters that I care about. this supremely delivered on both counts. I really loved every single one of the characters (I mean, except the ones you’re supposed to hate, obviously. it does a very good job making you hate them). the third thing I care about is friendship narratives and hoo boy was there a lot of that too.
it gets compared to bridgerton a lot and I haven’t seen bridgerton, so I can’t speak to that, but I don’t think I would like bridgerton based on what I’ve heard of it and I really liked this. make of that what you will, I guess. it also gets compared to mean girls a lot and I think that’s very accurate, if mean girls as a narrative was kinder to its characters (including the plastics) and actually let characters be gay in a nuanced way. and if mean girls did a better job developing the love interest so we care about him and the romance part of the plot. similar to mean girls, if you’re going to be really bothered by secondhand embarrassment, this might not be the book for you. it’s not quite as pronounced but it is there, and I did squirm through a few scenes. this didn’t subtract from my enjoyment but it might for some people. The other content warnings are here for anyone who wants to know what I mean by heavy material: https://www.lexcroucher.co.uk/reputation-cw
Now time for my spoiler-filled thoughts under the cut!!
So I knew going into this that it would be too much drugs and alcohol content for me, a known prude, but that being said I thought it was handled really well and I liked that the narrative had things to say about doing things in excess / requiring that stuff to be able to have fun. and thomas’s whole thing was really thoughtfully handled.
Georgiana cracked me up the whole time with her naivety. I do think part of the embarrassment of this book for me was how much she reminded me of my younger clueless self, being inexperienced in everything and scandalized by everything. I also reeeeally related to the whole “this person is friend-shaped, be my friend be my friend be my friend”-ness of her. And I’m always a sucker for a “female character is very flawed and honestly kinda shitty to her friends but learns to be a better person over the course of the narrative” story.
I LOVE BETTY. I call being #1 betty walters fan. I get crazy when I latch onto a character, all I do is wait for them to make a next appearance and scream about it when they do. But anyway I just want to say that I loved betty from her first scene and I’m so glad george finally caught on. I was initially scared that it was going to go more the route of like, george is mean to betty in the climax and then realizes she has to apologize because she feels bad for her, but the fact that they became actual genuine close friends on top of that made me very very happy. No matter what else I say please know betty was my absoluuute favorite character, I’m obsessed with her, I would die for her, etc.
This book honestly just kept subverting what I thought was going to happen. I did not see the end coming at all, particularly with the way the jeremiah plot went. It reminded me a lot of Oklahoma (the musical) and a lot of… real life lol. but yeah it was v good and I’m proud of george.
I really did not expect to get very attached to thomas. Usually when a book is a friendship book with romance also in there, I get very very wrapped up in the friendship parts and then only sort of care about the romantic lead. And it did start that way when george was initially obsessing over him, I kept just kind of being like “ok he’s here, sure”. But lex gave us a kindhearted emotions boy, which is honestly the best kind of boy, and he plays piano and his dad is nice and he keeps george in check about being a kind friend? Heck yeah. The LETTERS?? YES. listen my favorite book is ella enchanted and ever since then, any romance that involves witty written correspondence is automatically in my good books. also he has the benedick energy of like, unquestionably supporting women over his sketchy friends and that’s Always good.
I loved each of the friends in different ways, and I am a little sad that we didn’t get much closure on Cecily and Jonathan in particular, but I do understand why it ended the way that it did and I appreciate Georgiana realizing that these were never really going to be her People. That’s a really cool thing that I don’t see a lot in stories. Usually either they make friends for life, or it turns out that the group were Bad People and that’s why they go their separate ways. So the fact that it was like “no, I think they are good people and I care for them deeply, but our ways of life are just never going to be compatible in the long run so I’m just going to appreciate them in my periphery from now on” was a really nuanced take and something that I think is truer to reality.
Let’s Talk About Frances. Frances intrigued the hell out of me because I never knew what the heck she was going to do next. I do always love a bitchy woman with secret emotions and after the first vulnerable sleepover scene, in my mind I already felt like I knew where frances’s arc might be going. But lord I did NOT! It’s really really interesting to have a book that follows so many tropes of other stories but at the same time goes in completely different directions. I would’ve read a whole bunch more about frances and her emotions and her parents and her trauma, and I really hope jane is helping her heal from all that and also be less of a jerk to everyone, and if anyone is writing the “jane and frances heal from trauma and become better people together” fic I am soooo there. I’m glad we at least got the confirmation that she believes george, that she got the satisfaction of telling off jeremiah, that she’s living with jane, and that her parents have separated at least for the time being. But yeah I think in a lesser book, frances would’ve been reduced to like “the regina george” and not necessarily given all the nuances that she had, and I really appreciated how much she felt like a rounded-out person with a lot of her own shit going on. I am sad that she and george had to end the way they did, but again, it makes sense for the narrative and I’m glad they’re at least on good enough terms that she’s going to go to the wedding.
I do think there were some things that were left loose (george bringing up donating to the poor was never addressed again, frances’s parents are barely addressed again which surprised me after the mrs. walters bit, etc) but now that I’m finished with it and not waiting for certain loose ends to be tied, I think that’s kind of the point. that sometimes things just end without closure. sometimes you just move on from people and you don’t get to change them in the way you wanted to.
I probably have a bunch more to say but the main thing is that every single character in this book felt extremely three dimensional to me, and that is a Really hard thing to pull off and it has made me even more excited to read all of lex’s future books. Came for the humor, stayed for the insanely well-developed characters.

Note
could you do a scenario where gom+himuro go to the mall etc with their s/o and somehow they get separated for a while without the s/o noticing. suddenly s/he hears an announcement being made “attentionto ___, please pick up your child at the counter” and sees their bf being all pouty that s/he left him behind. I saw a tweet and was inspired! thank you so much :))
Pfft I laughed out loud at this request…I can totally see some of the GOM members just doing it to be petty! Hope you enjoy, anon!
Also some of these are a bit crack-ish…I feel like I’ve been writing some serious things lately so just needed to let go of some mischievous energy~
Reader being paged overhead to pick up GOM at the lost child station
Akashi
You loved going out shopping with Akashi, but your lover could be too much sometimes.
Akashi seemed to have difficulty understanding the concept of “window shopping”; if you even looked at someone for longer than a glance, he’d be ready to call the nearest store associate over to purchase said item.
That led to an awkward discussion in which you insisted that you really didn’t have any burning desire to purchase the item, and it was often hard to convince Akashi that no, you were not lying, and yes, you were being completely honest with him.
It still didn’t stop the fact that sometimes things would just “coincidentally” end up on your desk at school, little gifts that you knew were from a certain redhead.
Wanting to repay the favor, you watched him intensely during the current shopping trip, finally managing to escape away with an excuse about needing to use the restroom.
It was a bit harder to dodge the bodyguards, but a quick dart into the lingerie section took care of that, the sight of lace and negligee even a bit too much for the most stoic bodyguards to be brave enough to step through
You were picking out a lovely silk tie accompanied by a silver tie pin, just having retrieved it from the clerk after you purchased it when you heard it.
“Attention _____, please come pick up your child at the nearest security booth. Attention _____…”
You stomped over to the nearest security booth, apologies already prepared for the frazzled women that was glancing nervously between you and Akashi
Not even a hint of embarrassment betrayed Akashi’s face as he looked calmly over at you, his arms crossed in front of him.
“Seijuro, did you really need to do that?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, _____.” Akashi stated, raising one perfect eyebrow at you. “You left me behind, and thus I employed an available resource to have us reunited.”
You wondered how much trouble you’d get in if you strangled Akashi instead with the new tie you had just bought.
Midorima
You’d left Midorima to his own devices at the bookstore, having picked out the necessary textbooks for the upcoming semester at school
You were browsing in the manga section, satiating your inner fujioshi as you ducked behind the displays, eagerly flipping through the new volumes available from your favorite manga artist
You’d never admit it, but one of the characters looked so much like your boyfriend, and was even a tsundere too!
It was hard to keep back your fan girlish squeals as you tucked the new releases into your shopping cart, knowing that it’d take Midorima a bit longer to finish browsing the study guides section
Your inner thirst momentarily sated, you walked up to your favorite clerk as you passed over the goodies, her face mirroring your smile as the two of you gushed over your findings
It was nice to find someone who understood, especially since you couldn’t ever imagine asking Midorima to discuss such books of such indecent nature with you
You could picture your carrot-kun in your mind saying that, but part of you wondered how adorable it’d be to see him blushing if you forced him to read the manga along with you…something you’d definitely have to consider in the future, of course
“Attention _____, your lost child is waiting for you at the security booth outside the bookstore. Attention _____…”
You quickly finish checking out, racing over with your books in hand as you come across one (1) blushing carrot and one (1) smirking, hawk-eyed basketball player
“Yo, _____-chan!” Takao waved. “I found Shin-chan for you!”
“Aww, Shin-tan, did you get lost?” You peer into Midorima’s eyes, laughing at the disgusted look on his face. “Don’t worry, I’m here now~”
“W-What nonsense, Takao simply dragged me here for no good reason!!” Midorima stuttered
You decided that it would be best to lead your green-haired boyfriend away, lest he be arrested for assault in the middle of the mall.
Aomine
“I wonder if they’ll pop if I stab them hard enough…” You muttered under your breath, sick and tired of the female staff that was hanging off of Aomine’s arm, her breasts pushed up directly against his arm in the middle of the store. There were no way that those things were real, with how perfectly round they looked…
You’d underestimated just how devoted Aomine was to lingerie, of all things. When you mentioned going shopping for some unmentionables during the weekend, he’d invited himself along. To give you an objective perspective, of course.
So why was it that he was surrounded by a gaggle of females, instead of being his usual perverted self and coming up to you with all sorts of scandalous suggestions??
Clearing your throat loudly, you stepped up to your boyfriend, gently (or at least you tried to bed) prying off the hands of the girl that was clinging to him like a barnacle.
“Excuse me, but I think we’ve got enough assistance here.” You used the most sugar sweet voice you could manage, taking Aomine’s hand and not even hiding the fact that you rested his palm against the swell of your breast. “Babe, help me find something in my size?” You asked innocently, peering up at Aomine through your lashes as you pushed your chest against his hand.
Your display of possession finally chased away the mean old biddies as you began pushing Aomine out the door, ignoring his protests. “Babe, cmon…”
“Jeez Daiki, you can at least pretend to not notice.” You pout, sitting him down outside the store. “Wait here while I go finish buying this stuff!”
You hadn’t even had a few moments to yourself when the announcement paged overhead, hearing your name being called out to pick up your….child…from the security booth.
Aomine had a shit-eating grin on his face when you marched up to him, huffing and puffing. “Sorry _____, I just couldn’t wait. Besides…”
You yelped as he grabbed you by your butt, pulling you in as he not-so-subtly grinded himself against your hip. “I have to pay you back for making you mad, hm? This is all for you, babe.”
Kise
You weren’t sure what you had been thinking when you thought that for once, the two of you could enjoy a nice, private, shopping trip to the mall.
It seemed like all of his fans were coming out of the woodwork, in droves as they lunged for your boyfriend, stopping him every moment for autographs and pictures.
You liked that Kise was kind to his fans, but sometimes, enough was enough.
You finally gave up after you were pushed to the side of the crowd, deciding to take a break to go through the newest magazines that had hit the shelves.
Grabbing the nearest one, you discovered an article on said boyfriend as you read it with interest, blushing a bit at the embarrassing pose he had on in the picture.
It was an article about love and relationships, and you read his answers to the interview questions eagerly. You couldn’t help but smile fondly at the way he answered-your relationship couldn’t go public just yet, but it was obvious at least to your eyes that he was talking about you.
There was no need for you to feel insecure about your relationship with him, you thought. You were just about to put the magazine back on the rack when you heard your name being called overhead, asking you to pick up your child from the security office.
One quick checkout later, you were running to the stop when you came across a very familiar figure-even covered in hats, sunglasses, and wrapped up in scarfs like a mummy, you’d be able to recognize Kise anywhere.
“_____-cchi!!” Kise whined, tackling you right as you came into his sight. “Where were you?!?!”
“What are you wearing, Ryouta?!” You asked, quickly unwrapping the scarves that covered his face. “Aren’t you hot underneath all of that?!”
“But we finally had some time together, and I had to figure out something!” Kise replied, tears coming to his eyes as he latched onto you. “Sorry for making you jealous, _____-cchi!!!”
“I wasn’t jealous-“
“Wait, what is that?!” Kise grabbed the magazine out of your hand before you could react, before he turned to you with a pout. “_____-cchi! Do you like my picture more than me?!?! I’m the real thing!!!”
You couldn’t even blame the staff for calling Kise your child, with his crocodile tears and the way he was stubbornly clinging to you while you tried to calm the blonde-haired model down, assuring him that no, you were not going to leave him for a picture of him at a photoshoot.
Murasakibara
Big pouty baby here, 1000000%. When I first got the request, the first person that popped into my mind was our dear Murasakibara
You were visiting him in Akita for the weekend, but the rest of the Yosen basketball team had all demanded to meet up with you too on the outing
Murasakibara was first able to be tamed with snacks as he watched you handing Okamura tissues, listening to him cry his heart out to you about his recent relationship troubles. Then you were scolding Fukui for being mean to Okamura. Liu had somehow started a conversation with you too, and you were busy trying to decipher his speech, while updating Himuro on Kagami’s latest news and how he was starting (just barely) to tolerate Nigou at practice.
Even his coach had gotten involved, and Murasakibara had pouted when you agreed to meet with her for sushi, the two of you forming a bond over how to deal with Murasakibara whenever he got too spoiled or was acting up.
Finally having enough, Murasakibara walked away, crunching the bag of potato chips in his hands. I’m going to crush them all…how dare they take all of _____-chin’s time…
You had just managed to get Okamura to stop crying when you heard your name being called overhead, your brow furrowing in confusion at the odd announcement.
It wasn’t until you were looking around and hearing Himuro commenting about how Murasakibara had wandered off that you’d run over to the security booth, meeting with one very pouty, very upset purple-haired titan.
“I definitely don’t recall giving birth to someone so large, Atsushi.” You commented, tilting your head as you tried to coax Murasakbara into bending down so you could pat his head. “What’s wrong?”
Murasakibara only huffed, crossing his arms in front of his chest as his purple locks hid his face. “Not fair…Not fair, _____-chin. I thought I was important to you.”
“You are, Atsushi!”
“But you’re not paying attention to me.” You couldn’t help but giggle at Murasakibara’s childish whine, his cheeks puffing up as he full on pouted. “_____-chin is mine, and I’ll crush anyone else.”
“Atsu-channnn.” You hugged Murasakibara around his waist, peering up at him as you rubbed your face against his arms. “You’re so cute, and I love you~ I promise to make all your favorites tonight, okay?”
Himuro
Definitely just gets lost because pretty boy has absolutely no sense of direction at all
One moment he was following along with you, just happy to listen to you chattering on as you led him through the mall
But he’d gotten distracted for a moment, catching sight of a pretty necklace in the window of a jewelry store
It’d look nice against your skin, Himuro thought, but when he turned around to catch your attention, he blinked when he realized you were gone.
Himuro walked a bit more, but realized that all it was doing was making him more confused as he circled around the same area twice, looking absolutely lost.
He’d been standing in the same area for several moments, pretending that he knew what he was doing, staring at the map of the mall posted on a kiosk in the center of the hall when a passing security guard finally stopped to ask if he needed help
Himuro felt embarrassed as he admitted the situation that he’d found himself in, and he covered half his face with the palm of his hand as the announcement played overhead, asking for you to pick up your child in front of the security booth.
“Tatsuya, you had me so worried!!”
Himuro apologized profusely to you as he saw the beads of sweat on your forehead. “_____, why are you so sweaty…?”
“Because I was looking for you, silly!” You stuck your tongue out at your boyfriend as you flicked him in the forehead, ignoring his soft “ow” that left his lips. “You have a phone, don’t you?”
Himuro had indeed totally forgotten that he did have a cell phone on him.
“Cellular mobile devices are helpful for contacting someone when you can’t find them, in case you didn’t know.” You lectured him, and even though he was being scolded, Himuro couldn’t help but think you were so adorable, the way your cheeks were puffed up like a squirrel.
“Sorry, sorry.” Pulling you close, he kissed you on the forehead, ignoring your protests that you were super sweaty and gross. “Thanks for finding me, _____. I’ll make sure to hold onto your hand tight the next time so I don’t get lost, okay?”

Anime i’ve Watched
That begin with a K (Part 2)!
Yep this is how i’m going to bring over all the anime and manga i’ve watched and posted about on the old blog. It’s not so detailed but it will have to do. Anything new I watch or read from this point on will have their own posts.
Karneval
Genres: action, fantasy, josei, mystery, sci-fi
Tumblr media
Synopsis:  While in search of his precious friend, a young boy named Nai falls captive to a beautiful woman, whose looks are matched only by her taste for human flesh. Meanwhile Gareki, a clever thief, is in the midst of robbing her luxurious home. After causing a distraction, Gareki agrees to help Nai escape, but they are discovered upon the woman's return. As she transforms into a ghoulish monster, the boys flee. On the run, Nai and Gareki are found by "Circus," a government defense agency that deals with criminal activity too difficult for the police to handle and protects civilians from "varuga"—terrible monsters that devour humans for sustenance. In the hope that it will lead Nai to his missing friend, he and Gareki decide to join Circus. On their perilous journey, they face dangerous varuga and begin to uncover the secrets behind a shadowy organization known as Kafka. [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Tumblr media
My Rating: 7/10
Finished airing in 2013 with a total of 13 episodes.
My Thoughts: Love the character design and I was interested in the story but the series is far too short. I’d suggest you go read the manga (which is farther along) but it’s rarely updated so I can’t confidently say it’s worth the read. Your choice is read/ watch this and suffer alongside me with the lack of updates or erase its existence from your mind. Your call!
Kaze ga Tsuyoku Fuiteiru (Run with the Wind)
Genres: comedy, sports, drama

Worse still, none of the inhabitants are even remotely interested in being involved with Haiji's ridiculous plan! With only months before the deadline, will the fourth-year student be able to convince them otherwise and realize his elusive dream of running in the Hakone Ekiden? [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Tumblr media
My Rating: 10/10
Finished airing in 2019 with a total of 23 episodes.
My Thoughts: This was a masterpiece in my opinion, an anime I won’t soon forget and one of the best of its season without a doubt! Good stuff right here and not in a high school setting which is a change of pace for a sports anime! A very satisfying anime that I highly recommend.
Kaze Tachinu (The Wind Rises)
Genres: drama, historical, romance, film
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Although Jirou Horikoshi's nearsightedness prevents him from ever becoming a pilot, he leaves his hometown to study aeronautical engineering at Tokyo Imperial University for one simple purpose: to design and build planes just like his hero, Italian aircraft pioneer Giovanni Battista Caproni. His arrival in the capital coincides with the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1923, during which he saves a maid serving the family of a young girl named Naoko Satomi; this disastrous event marks the beginning of over two decades of social unrest and malaise leading up to Japan's eventual surrender in World War II. For Jirou, the years leading up to the production of his infamous Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter aircraft will test every fiber of his being. From witnessing firsthand the growing antisemitism in Germany to fatefully reuniting with Naoko at a summer resort, his many travels and life experiences only urge him onward—even as he realizes both the role of his creations in the war and the reality of the waning health of his beloved. As time marches on, he must confront an impossible question: at what cost does he chase his beautiful dream? [Written by MAL Rewrite]
Tumblr media
My Rating: 8/10
A film released in 2013
My Thoughts: Beautiful and dreamy but not one of my favourite anime films unfortunately. Still very good though!
Kekkai Sensen
Genres: action, comedy, superpower, supernatural, vampire, fantasy, shounen

My Thoughts: I recall this terribly sad episode that was an absolute masterpiece but to be honest the rest of the series didn’t leave much of an impression on me. I didn’t even bother watching the second season when it came out. Do what you will with that information.

My Thoughts: Reverse harem style, tv short with a tomboy female lead. Not really long enough to leave much of an impression but fun enough if you have some time to waste. Surprisingly great art/ animation.
Keppeki Danshi! Aoyama-kun
Genres: comedy, seinen, sports
Tumblr media

Aoyama is idolized and respected by everyone, but they can only admire him from afar due to his mysophobia. Despite that, he plays soccer—a rather dirty sport! As the playmaker for Fujimi High School's soccer club, Aoyama avoids physical contact at all cost and cleanly dribbles toward victory. However, the path to Nationals will not be easy for Fujimi's underdog team. But alongside striker Kaoru Zaizen, Aoyama will show everyone that even as a clean freak, there are things he's willing to get dirty for. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

My Thoughts: comical with what I recall to be very little focus on the actual playing of sports which is a bummer if that’s what you’re looking for. It was alright but there are definitely better comedy (and for sure sports) anime's out there!
Kill la Kill
Genres: action, comedy, superpower, school
Tumblr media

Following her only lead—the missing half of his invention, the Scissor Blade—she arrives at the prestigious Honnouji Academy, a high school unlike any other. In the school's brutally competitive hierarchy, Satsuki bestows upon those at the top special clothes called "Goku Uniforms," which grant the wearer unique superhuman abilities. Thoroughly beaten in a fight against one of the students in uniform, Ryuuko retreats to her razed home where she stumbles across Senketsu, a rare and sentient "Kamui," or God Clothes. After coming into contact with Ryuuko's blood, Senketsu awakens, latching onto her and providing her with immense power. Now, armed with Senketsu and the Scissor Blade, Ryuuko makes a stand against the Elite Four, hoping to reach Satsuki and uncover the culprit behind her father's murder once and for all. My Thoughts: One of my top three favourite anime's of all time despite my not giving it a perfect score and the sole reason i’m such a Trigger fangirl despite the way they continue to disappoint me with each and every new release... Highly recommend! Fair warning there’s plenty of skimpy outfits and fan service which may turn some off but if you can get past it this really is an anime worth checking out. Great story, characters, music and style! A chaotic feast for the eyes and ears! I really should rewatch it...

YONA GREENSPAN is a 21 year old FEMALE WEREWOLF, who looks a lot like SARA WAISGLASS. YONA spends time at Traceless because HER PACK IS THERE AND SHE LOVES OPEN MIC NIGHTS AT THE CAFE. SHE is known for BEING AN EXCITABLE WEREWOLF AND BANGING OUT THE TUNES.
Hometown: Nyack, New York Current Residence: Traceless Special Abilities: Yona is a werewolf, and fairly standard as it comes to abilities. Even when not shifted, she is faster and stronger than she looks, and has particularly good stamina. She has relatively good control over her shifts, and only starts to wolf out when she is really excited.
It does not seem like she has any other special abilities due to being a werewolf. However, she is moderately convinced that if she keeps trying to test out various powers, she will find another one out. She has a list of options that she has eliminated.
Apart from the supernatural stuff, Yona enjoys and has an ear for music. Her aunt and uncle put her into piano lessons when she was little, and she spent a lot of time practicing. She can pick up a guitar and get some chords down, but she doesn’t really like it as much as keys and singing. It can be difficult to get her to stop singing, and she isn’t very quiet about it.
Character Background:
tw: death, death of a mother, neglect of child
Arielle Greenspan had a one night stand after a night out with a friend of an acquaintance, and promptly put it out of mind until she realized that she was pregnant two months later. Arielle decided having a baby would be a great idea, and proceeded to get fully into baby fever. Playing it by ear, Arielle had her little girl, and shifted most of her work to home. Arielle’s younger brother Joey, completely bewildered by the concept of children, asked bluntly if the dad was in the picture. The answer was no, and Joey did not get much more information out of his sister than that.
As for the child, she had a pleasant early childhood. While Yona would color within the lines, she had an odd way of doing it. Yona wasn’t stupid, but she never had the finest grasp on common sense. She was an affectionate, exuberant little girl who she loved following her mom around, leading her Uncle Joey to call her a duckling. Joey enjoyed being the fun uncle, but he had never imagined that he would need to be anything more than that. ‘Godfather’ was supposed to just be a formality- a title to say that you wanted to be there in the kid’s life, right? He never seriously considered that he would have to lose his older sister so soon.
Joey had literally just gotten married three months ago, and had been looking forward to child-free adventures with his wife Genevieve for the foreseeable future. And now he had to worry about a kid who couldn’t be trusted not to put a fork in the electrical outlet? He seriously considered what would happen if he put up his six year old niece for adoption, but after Arielle’s funeral, Yona pouted and wouldn’t let go of his hand for two hours, so he had to keep her. Surely he could still get to go on his adventures as long as he found a good babysitter.
Yona’s childhood and adolescence were a little odd. She was always left under the care of somebody when Joey and Gen got the traveling itch, but those were often eccentric friends that were clueless about what to do with a kid. Sometimes her aunt and uncle brought her along on their adventures, and she was left to roam around European cities untethered. Joey and Gen read exactly zero parenting resources, and they were proud of it. Most nine year olds don’t receive a vibrator for their birthday without explanation, for example.
As sex-positive an environment as the Greenspan home was, Yona was left to the mercy of the American sex education program for any actual guidance. Twelve year old Yona, brimming with questions, asked the teacher if it was normal for girls going through puberty to “grow hair in weird places, feel really emotional all of a sudden, and have your body start to change?” After vehement reassurance that of course this was normal along with some arcane-looking diagrams of the human body, it took Yona three months to realize that it was in fact not normal to change into an entire wolf once a month. Her uncle and aunt agreed that this was very weird, but Gen had always been really into learning about the paranormal and mythology in general. After taking Yona to several obviously fake psychics and to meet up with some guy on Craigslist that sincerely believed that he was a werewolf but definitely wasn’t, Gen had almost given up hope.
On a trip when she was thirteen, Yona started talking randomly to a lady in a pie shop (she loved chatting with strangers and her aunt and uncle rarely stopped her).. and the woman happened to be another werewolf. Since werewolves had a good sense of smell in identifying their own kind and other supernatural species, the stranger lady asked Yona some tentative questions. Latching immediately onto this random woman she had just met (she said her name was HJ), she had a very informational and oddly calming conversation. Only after sharing more information than you should probably share with an adult stranger and promises from HJ for help finding a pack in New York agreed to join her very first pack did she grab her Aunt Gen. Unfortunately, HJ didn’t live in New York, so Yona had to join a pack with a whole bunch of strangers instead of her chill new adult friend. And the new pack was pretty nice. Yona thought that being part of a pack was way better than having to deal with the painful shifts on her own in the backyard.
Getting to join her own secret grown-up pack prompted Yona to start acting out more. She stayed out late, threw parties at the house when her aunt and uncle weren’t home, and pulled some truly epic pranks. The weirdest part was that Joey and Gen didn’t seem to notice or care. She would skip school sometimes and nobody at home would even mention it. All she wanted was to be noticed. She played up how much alcohol and drugs she was doing (basically nothing), and her aunt and uncle completely ignored it. She tried sleeping with some okay boy at her school when she was sixteen, but felt gross afterward and decided for once maybe she didn’t want every speck of attention she could get. She had been planning on telling her aunt matter-of-factly about that, but decided to keep at least that much to herself. It took Yona a full year to figure out that oh, she was interested in girls instead. Something about telling a pretty girl that she painfully turned into a big gray wolf every month made her feel insecure. It didn’t help that Yona found herself absolutely infatuated with just about every woman she met. Some crushes were deeper than others, but her feelings always felt real, exciting, and devastatingly painful. From her perspective, love was both brutal and amazing, and she wanted nothing more than to find it- even if it hurt. Still, it took Yona another year to admit out loud that she was gay (so gay), and desperate. What really pissed her off was when she came out to her uncle and aunt, only for Joey to reply with a casual, “Yeah, we’ve known since you were twelve.” Well it would have helped if someone had given her a hint!
Yona moved out of her aunt and uncle’s as soon as she had her high school diploma under her belt, and tried to figure out what she wanted to do with herself. Apparently, her mom had been on track to be some sort of superstar consultant. Most of the estate was funneled into a trust set up for Yona. Uncle Joey had told her he couldn’t figure out how any of that money stuff worked, and had done what the financial advisor guy who was in charge of the trust told him to do with the money. Yona didn’t feel like a trust fund baby or anything, but it was nice to know that even if she messed up, her mom had wanted to make sure she was okay. A lot of the time, Yona wondered if her mom would have been proud of her.
After moving out, Yona left her New York pack on good terms, and bought a motorcycle. Her aunt had shown her how to ride (it had only led to two near-wrecks), and this seemed more cinematic than buying a junker car that stood a chance of breaking down to drive across the country. She had been accepted at a couple of colleges (she’d kept her grades up well enough in spite of everything), but did not feel strongly about going to school when she felt weirdly stuck. Her aunt and uncle had never felt like parents, and she fantasized about discovering herself out west. Riding across the country (and getting hella lost in South Dakota… how was she supposed to keep the two Dakotas straight?) was a formative experience. It was a good thing that she had werewolf strength and instincts because Yona did not get any less naïve through this experience.
Eventually, she wound up in Seattle, which Yona thought was a bit like New York through a puddle. She didn’t really know if she even liked Seattle (mostly she just didn’t get it), but she did learn that there was a super cool-seeming café that catered to people like her. Or, well, werewolves plus a whole bunch of other species that Yona had not given a thought further than “they exist” to. For some reason, the café people wouldn’t let her bring her motorcycle into the shop so that she could have it on the other side of… well, wherever she wanted to take it. Anyway, Yona decided that she liked Traceless pretty well, and also really liked the idea of getting in on those open mic nights. Traceless was a lot better than trying to get lost somewhere even more frustrating than the Dakotas, so she stuck around. She enrolled in college, and half by-accident joined a new pack. It was great! She got to see HJ again and actually be in a pack with her. A lot of the Bonfire Pack lived in a cluster of houses in Traceless, and Yona enthusiastically moved in one with HJ. To anyone that asked, HJ was her aunt, but they were also not related in any way. Her new pack was a lot more dysfunctional and much less organized than her first pack, but Yona liked it better that way. After about four years in Traceless, she was one term away from graduating in the fall term, and not sure what she planned to do with herself apart from pitching in around the pack’s camp.

Quidditch: Chaser, team captain from fifth year on
Extra Curriculars:
- Dueling Club
- Assistant for Kettleburn
- Weekly Legilimency lessons from Snape
Favorite Professors:
- Professor Kettleburn: Tessa adores his wacko personality and enthusiasm for creatures. He's encouraged her whenever she feels hopeless and is a surprisingly good listener
- Professor Flitwick: The number of times Tessa has nearly cried in his class is insane. She used to be worried about being too unskilled at magic and her nerves made her fail a spell at first, but Flitwick was gentle and talked her through it until she was one of the best in the class. Her bad nerves left in third year, but he's still more gentle with her
Least Favorite Professors:
- Professor Trelawney: Tessa is good at Divination. She enjoys Divination. What she does not enjoy is Trelawney acting like a freak and driving people out of the class. Tessa learns much more from her textbook than from the professor
- Professor Snape: Yes, he's her head of house, but he's an asshole. He's insulting to her and many others and makes her feel more worthless than she already does. If she didn't have Gracie and Penny to help her learn outside of class, she would have failed his O.W.L. Her Legilimency lessons are the worst part of her week
Relationships
Twin Sister: Gracie Tessa Chiva
- Gracie is only eight and a half minutes older than her, but Tessa sometimes feels like Gracie is years older
- She regrets quitting the vaults because she feels like she and Gracie are different people now
- Tessa still blames herself for Gracie's curse. She can't remember the incident, but her wand was two inches from her hand when she woke up and she had no injuries besides the concussion that she thinks is just from falling, so she believes she failed her sister
- Tessa desperately wants her sister's approval and doesn't realize just how much her sister loves her
- She wishes she could do something to protect Gracie for a change
- They were super close as kids and grew apart in the later school years
- All Tessa wants to do most of the time is latch onto Gracie and never let her go into danger again
Older Brother: Vance Riley Chiva
- This bastard
- Vance always favored Gracie
- Tessa still loved him, but she would sometimes feel excluded
- Vance did in fact leave her a few memories, but they were locked in the same box with Gracie's and when Tessa saw how many more Gracie got, she refused to watch hers
- When Vance is freed in fifth year but leaves again without seeing her first, Tessa shatters the picture of him, her and Gracie. It's repaired the next morning, and stays fixed until the end of sixth year when Gracie shatters it too
- Tessa hates Vance
- When he dies in place of her, she realizes she never hated him. She loved him and just wanted him to love her
Younger Cousin: Aiden Carter Darkling
- Aiden is the son of Rachel Chiva, Jason's sister. Rachel and Aiden's father divorced while he was still young, but it was relatively amicable and he comes around for holidays
- Tessa never payed the kid much attention when they were younger, but after he started Hogwarts she took him under her wing a lot
- Aiden comes to her for advice when he has his first crush, when he's nervous about a test, or simply needs a hug. Tessa gets to be a big sister and she loves it
- She's way closer to Aiden than Gracie is, and Aiden isn't hesitant to tell Tessa that he likes her far better. It makes her feel good
Mother: Clarissa Vanessa Black
- Tessa loves her mother, but she doesn't agree with her on a lot of things
- She tries her hardest to make her mother proud, because she knows she's the only "decent" child Clarissa has left
- She actually suggested a contract marriage in hopes of making her mother happy. She was really confused when Clarissa forcefully shut the idea down, not realizing all that her mother went through in her own past
- When Tessa is in her coma in seventh year, she hears her mother go insane (it's what wakes her up) and realizes just how much Clarissa loves her
- Tessa takes much longer to figure out Clarissa and Margaret than Gracie does
- She keeps better in contact with her mother throughout her adulthood than Gracie
- Family dinners are awkward but hey, they're still family
Father: Jason Harvey Chiva
- Tessa, like Gracie, admired Jason a lot as a child
- She only visited his Auror office a few times, because while she thought it was cool she wasn't interested in it as a career
- Tessa didn't see him murder their family friend and didn't believe it when Jason's partner Thomas came to tell her and Clarissa
- She still can't quite believe it, and she misses him a lot, which is why she carries his watch with her *cough cough daddy issues cough*
- The day Gracie has to kill Jason, Tessa destroys the watch
- He tries to kill Margaret in front of Tessa's young daughter Octavia, and that's when Tessa fully believes that Jason lost his mind
Ex Boyfriend: Barnaby Lee
- They met in first year (obviously, they're in the same house), but Tessa never paid him any attention
- It was only in second year when she and Liz were allowed to start getting early lessons from Kettleburn that she started noticing him
- Barnaby was a character during these early lessons
- He hadn't actually signed up for them, but he heard Liz talk about them and just assumed they were open to anyone
- Kettleburn didn't care obviously, he's a bit unstable anyway
- Barnaby would always carry the heavy stuff and Tessa's raging puberty hormones took one look at the muscles and said "heyyyyyyyyy"
- Then of course she actually started talking to him, and dear fucking god was he dumb. But then she talked to him more and he actually wasn't? He was kinda smart in a weird way? And really really nice?
- She never told him she liked him, and by the end of the year he was starting to slip under Merula's control
- Tessa was the one to try and get him to think for himself in year three. She's also the one who dueled him, and she lost miserably, but she stood back up whenever he knocked her down and he admired that. A few weeks later, he asked her out to Hogsmeade
- Gracie was pissed but Tessa didn't care that much
- They were a super cute couple and all of Slytherin (besides her dorm mates) shipped them so hard
- They ended up growing apart in fourth year and deciding they're better off as friends
Love Interest: River Mund
- As of sixth year, they are not together, though it's pretty obvious they both fancy each other
- River is an exchange student from Ilvermorny who arrives the same day as Alanza. Tessa is made to be their tour guide, and while showing them around she can't help but notice that this (very handsome) new boy seems really stressed out. She assumes it's from being so far from home and tries to be encouraging, but he doesn't say a single word the entire time
- River ends up staying in the Slytherin dorms, and Tessa watches him all the time (just out of curiosity of course). He almost never talks to anyone, and is very jumpy when someone gets too close
- After about a month of this, Tessa decides to sit down at the same table as him while doing homework. He seems almost scared of her, but after a week it becomes normal, and she hears his voice for the first time when he asks her for help on his CoMC essay. Another week, and when River packs up his things to go to the dorms, he leaves her a folded up piece of parchment containing a poem he wrote about her
- Tessa starts noticing how often River sneaks into the Forbidden Forest, and gets curious enough to follow him. This is how she discovers he's a vampire - a rarer subspecies theorized to be stemmed from partial vampire breeding together
- River is horrified and thinks she'll hate him since he hates himself. He wasn't born a vampire. His family illegally paid a vampire to break into the hospital and change him to save him from cancer without any input from him. It's why he wanted to come to Hogwarts, to get away from them
- Tessa is scared, obviously, but she tries her best not to show it because he had just started to open up and she didn't want to lose the progress they had been making. When she tells him she's not scared of him River doesn't look like he believes her, but he's so relieved she's trying that he hugs her
- They very quickly become much closer after that, and Tessa realizes that she might be in too deep when she shoves her wrist in his face for him to drink from when he weakly confesses he hasn't had any blood in two weeks without a second thought
- He buys her the ring during January. He claims it's for being such a good friend, but Tessa hopes it's because he likes her (they're both so oblivious)
- They'll get together in seventh year over Christmas break. They both stay behind at the school, and end up confessing while sitting in front of the fire in the Slytheirn common room
Best Friend: Liz Tuttle
- Tessa and Liz met in first year, the first night in the dorms
- Liz, being her awkward self, asked slightly too loudly if anyone wanted to discuss the Fwooper
- Tessa did indeed want to discuss the Fwooper
- Boom, best friends
- Tessa tries being vegan like Liz but can't take it, and reverts to being vegetarian. She's not exactly good at that either, but she never eats meat in front of Liz (at home is fair game)
- She and Liz spend a lot of their free time outside, sneaking into the forest even
- On an assignment from Kettleburn, they accidentally discover the Room of Requirement and now spend free time during bad weather in there
- Liz constantly reassures her that she's not a bad sister for stepping back from the vaults
Rival: Skye Parkin
- They may have been teammates, but Tessa and Skye HATED each other. It really threw off the team dynamics for a while
- Tessa almost quit because Skye made practices miserable for her, and this is when she and Erika ended up friends. Erika convinced her to stay on the team and make Quidditch miserable for Skye instead, and even helped train her
- Orion picking Tessa as his successor and not Skye (who was a year older and more experienced) made Skye so mad she broke her broom and quit. Tessa couldn't help being happy about that. Skye brings out her inner pettiness
Enemy: Vance Riley Chiva
- Tessa is just so sure he's lost all humanity
- She's mad at him for getting them into this mess in the first place
- She swears the next time she sees him, she's going to smack him
- She doesn't get the chance, nor does she get to say anything at all
Dormmates:
- Gracie Chiva
- Liz Tuttle
- Rowan Khanna: they're friends, but very casually, as Rowan is Gracie's best friend
- Merula Snyde: they're not friends, nor will they ever be, but they try very hard not to argue for Gracie's sake
- Ismelda Murk: they too are not friends, but they study History of Magic together because they have similar studying styles and both find the subject interesting
- Colette Belrose: see below
Pets:
- Ruby, the family Crup
- Clara, Vance's toad (she's more Gracie's pet)
- Elaura, a shared owl
- Lemmy, a moke
- various creatures in the reserve that Tessa and Liz coparent
Closest Canon Friends
- Chiara Lobosca: the werewolf quest? Tessa did that. She adores Chiara's kindness and resilience, and frequently uses her Animagus to accompany her on full moons
- Diego Caplan: he helps train Tessa's magical strength. He was totally into her at first, but he calmed down and now they hang out a lot in and out of the Dueling Club
- Erika Rath: Training buddies with a healthy Quidditch rivalry. Tessa has even gotten Erika to come over to her house so they could hang out over the summer
Closest Noncanon Friends
- Gracie Chiva (Jacob's sibling canonically has no other siblings)
- Rosalie Sonnenschein: A German model one year older than her who attends Durmstrang. A first generation part Veela with a very strong natural allure that has men (and women) swooning
- Kyle Orchan: the Squib son of one of the shopkeepers at the clothing store Tessa frequents. He's the best listener Tessa has ever met and loves hearing about her magical adventures. He does sometimes get very sad hearing about this world he'll never be a part of, but he's too nice to ever mention it
- Colette Belrose (@gcldensnitch): Tessa met Colette their first night in the Slytherin dorms. Granted, Tessa spent most of that night talking to Liz, but she went to bed relatively early so Tessa struck up a conversation with Colette. They're super similar and plan to go on a tour of Europe one day. Colette helps Tessa step back and remember to breathe, and she loves her for it
(Storyline has to be in a different post because of tumblr's dumb text limit)
Future
Marriage and Children: Tessa and River get married at the age of twenty one, and almost immediately Tessa gets pregnant with her oldest daughter, Octavia. Her body reacts very negatively and she almost dies while giving birth, so she and River agree to not have any more children. Six years later, Tessa accidentally gets pregnant with twins, Meredith and Alexander. It's a terrifying experience, but all three of them live and the twins are healthy
Career: At the age of twenty two, Tessa is recruited for the Montrose Magpies after one of their scouts watches her casual group's practice. She takes a short break years later to have the twins, and they welcome her back when she joins back up. Her replacement was shit. Tessa gets better at International Apparation so that she and River can spend time in America, England, and Germany without interrupting their work schedules. After she eventually resigns from the team, she uses her "fame" to bring more attention to the petitions for creature rights
The Second Wizarding War:
- Tessa isn't in the country for the most part when the war starts up, though she stops bringing the kids when visiting her mother after it starts getting bad
- After Bill's attack she and River temporarily stay in England for their friends, having her kids stay with Merula and her and Gracie's kids
- She doesn't fight in the Battle of Hogwarts. She's too scared for both herself and Gracie, as if Tessa went to fight Gracie would follow

Writer’s Block.
Shirley director Josephine Decker talks to Ella Kemp about novelist Shirley Jackson’s aspirational qualities, Elisabeth Moss’s voice, and the Pixar film that changed everything for her.
Actor, director, writer and editor Josephine Decker has done for American cinema what Alice did for Wonderland. She burst onto the landscape and turned everything inside out, tunneling further into new worlds and disrupting the rules of everyone living there.
With four features to her name so far, Decker has fast become a leading voice in independent American cinema. There was the psychological thriller Butter on the Latch (2013), the erotic fever dream Thou Wast Mild And Lovely (2014), and the hurricane of a coming-of-ager, Madeline’s Madeline (2018). Now with Shirley, Decker turns to the biopic—but this is no paint-by-numbers adaptation of someone’s Wikipedia page. The script, written by Sarah Gubbins (I Love Dick) is adapted from the novel by Susan Scarf Merrell. Some of Shirley is true, some not.
Shirley casts Elisabeth Moss as the eponymous horror author, Shirley Jackson, whose famously disturbing 1948 short story The Lottery caused a sensation when it was first published in the New Yorker. Michael Stuhlbarg appears alongside Moss as Jackson’s professor husband Stanley Edgar Hyman, with Odessa Young and Logan Lerman as Rose and Fred Nemser, academic newlyweds who come to stay in Shirley and Stanley’s gothic home for a spell, while Shirley is wrestling with how to write her (very real) second novel, Hangsaman.
These actors matter, as the first couple—the Hollywood household names—welcome the second pair—fresh-faced rising stars—into their dangerous orbit of wordy brilliance and ruthless scrutiny. The results, knotty, seductive and disorienting, are electric.
Produced by Christine Vachon and Martin Scorsese, Shirley carries hints of Decker’s background in performance art, particularly in Moss’s highly physical performance. Film nuts are still getting to grips with Decker’s singular style, but once you’re in, there’s no way of climbing back out. “Decker finds a way to embody the strange, insoluble, unnerving energy of Jackson’s prose in a film that fittingly always seems to be building to a catastrophic rupture,” writes Jake Cole.
“I am ready to declare her one of the best modern filmmakers,” writes Letterboxd member Brian Formo, while Vshefali praises how “Josephine Decker is able to paint a picture of the inside of a woman’s brain so beautifully”. It’s true: Decker is concerned with what makes us tick, but also how the mechanics of that ticking work when nobody’s looking, when everything else has moved on and all that you’re left with are your own loud thoughts.

Elisabeth Moss as Shirley Jackson in ‘Shirley’.
In the adaptation from the novel, what key elements did you and Sarah Gubbins want to remain true in terms of Shirley Jackson’s story? Josephine Decker: We were just really interested in making sure these characters felt like full, rounded individuals. For Shirley and Rose, it was about how they met and entwined. We wanted to really feel their separateness and their togetherness. We spent the most time on how to allow you to really feel each of them deeply, because it’s a hard thing to have a dual-protagonist movie.
What was it about Shirley Jackson that attracted you to her? I came on after it was already scripted. The character is just so witty, and kind of cruel, and complicated and messy. I had loved Sarah’s work on I Love Dick, I thought that Kathryn Hahn’s performance was one of the great female performances of the last twenty years. She just writes such great characters, so it was exciting to be able to dive into the Shirley that she had created. Also, the real Shirley Jackson is such a complicated and fascinating person—I was and am obsessed with her writing. She does in writing a thing that I’m trying to do in cinema, so it was exciting to get to know her work that well.
What things in her work would you like to emulate? You fall from a real place into an imaginary place without really realising it. She’s very good at sliding you into the character’s mind. It’s a witchy thing that makes her writing feel really exciting, that I haven’t seen that much on screen. I feel like in American cinema there’s this clear line between reality and what’s in your mind, but I think with Shirley that line is very unclear. That’s something I love, that I really pursue in my work and get excited by.
I definitely felt that with Madeline’s Madeline as well, it all feels very slippery. Totally.
Shirley is the first feature you’ve directed from another person’s script. How was that experience? It took me a minute to get inside of the world. I’m generally pretty process-oriented, but this film was different. There’s usually a thing that happens as you’re writing, I find I’m writing as an excuse to get the words that are in my head out. So to come from words and try to see the images was a very different experience, but also really exciting. With Sarah’s writing, it was interesting how the space was so important, this house was such a major character in the film. Because it’s such a dialogue-driven script, I worked a lot with the actors in rehearsals. I guess maybe some directors would tell you what to do, and you would start, and you would do that, but I didn’t even realise that would have been an option, so I was like, “Well, we have to make the blocking together” because I was also really adamant that I didn’t want the dialogue to be static.
It was important to me to sculpt some of the dialogue scenes into movement scenes. It was fun to find the dance of the film and allow the actors to choose their own way through the dialogue. They’re all such geniuses. When we would do rehearsals with Lizzie and Michael, it was so fast, they’re so good at working things out themselves. It was just exciting to let them find their own space and then obviously weigh in when I felt like an outside eye was helpful. I feel like a lot of what I’m realising as a director is if you choose the right collaborators, it’s just about getting out of the way!
How would you describe the relationship between Shirley and Rose? It feels thorny—it reminded me of Phantom Thread in terms of the toxicity. Generally, Shirley’s own work is about these two female characters who are really different—one is a dark, misanthropic genius, but angry, and the other one is a very light-hearted open spirit who is generous and good at baking and making men happy. I think in her biography there was this idea that these two kinds of women were different aspects of Shirley’s own mind, that she was like both of them. So it was about how different Shirley and Rose are at the beginning, and then that their coming together is such a collision, but then they discover they have a lot to learn from each other and they’re more similar than they realized.
It was about making sure we could understand their motivations. Especially Rose—she could have been a lighter, less-complex character, but I think I felt really committed, and Odessa did an incredible job, to make her a really full human with her own aspirations. And in the novel too, she has her own world going on. So it’s about making sure her goals are still clear, and then that by the end of the film maybe she has new goals, or maybe she realizes that everything she’d been tidying up her life to get in order—get a husband, have a baby—are maybe a little bit at odds with the deeper thing she’s searching for. But they are really slippery characters.

Josephine Decker on the set used for the Jackson-Hyman house in ‘Shirley’.
You mentioned the importance of the house. I spoke to Kitty Green recently about The Assistant and you share the same composer, Tamar-kali, and sound designer, Leslie Shatz, on your films. Both scores are amazing; on Shirley I’m thinking of the cellos and the violins but then also the creaky floorboards in the sound design. How do you think music and sound help build this world? They’re huge tools. I always think sound design can really bring a new element, especially to a film like this where there’s a slide into a surreal realm, into the mind sometimes. So finding a sound that hints that the things you’re witnessing are a little unreal is exciting. Leslie did a lot of playing. He jokes that when we first met I told him to go to town, and then he just went to town and was like, “I hope I went to the right town!” We had a lot of fun. We tried to really use sounds that weren’t too electronic, stuff that felt like it could have been made with the sound effects that would have been available then. Sound is a huge storyteller, I think it’s more impactful than film. I also think Lizzie’s voice is a train that pushes you through the film, in that you understand where she is with the writing by how confident or how confused that voice is.
What was the first film that made you want to be a filmmaker? Monsters Inc., that one’s easy. I had a real revelation in college while watching it. I’d seen it before, it was my second time, but I just laughed like a little baby. I just have so much fun in these Pixar movies, my best friend in college was watching with me and I was giggling and sitting four feet from the television, and she was just like, “You really like this and I think you should do this and this would be a combination of everything you’ve been doing.” It was helpful to have a friend there to tell me that. I haven’t started making movies like that yet, but maybe someday. My next movie [The Sky Is Everywhere] is a YA film, so if I just keep going younger and younger…

my thoughts about tlou2 under a read more bc they are mostly negative lol
ok i really need to vent somewhere and here is the place lmao
ironicaly, i’m going to start with abby bc i think it is, somehow, the easiest part to talk about. i’m going to keep this story and narrative-wise but i have to say that playing as her became fun. the way she contrasts with ellie’s gameplay is awesome and kudos to the character designers bc she is damn intimidating in a way female antagonists NEVER get to be. now, to the narrative. i actually grew to like her story bc, surprise, hers is the only narrative in the damn game that gets to have character development. she is the only one ‘seeking the light’. i felt kind of bad that i liked her parts more than ellie’s until i realized this, because how can i not latch onto the only bit of hope this game has to offer? abby and lev’s rship is that. (though i do think it is a bit of a mess how they could not be sure who they were trying to paralel abby off of? like we get it she is like joel bc hate and disillusionment consumed her until she found small child to take care of but wait she is also like ellie bc she has two close friends one of whom she loves who are having a child!! oops!!! pregnant ladies squared!!! also i only get pedantic about medical stuff if i’m really bitter but hey, i am so, wtf was up with dina’s pregnancy lmao that is not how pregnancy works ANYWAY)
meanwhile, ellie’s arc is absolutely bleak. every moment of happiness and warmth we get from the flashbacks is tainted with the cruelty we know is coming. i have been thinking that my problems with the game were bc i loved joel and couldn’t really get over his death but i love ellie too. even if i cared nothing for joel, ellie gets no real development? she is traumatized in a brutal way and there is no... real closure there? if i’m being benevolent i would say the most she gets is finally accepting what joel did for her, and learning to embrace the life he has given her but SHE WAS ALREADY PREPARED TO TAKE THAT ROAD. which is why that last scene with joel is awful, and not only in an utterly heartbreaking way, but in how meaningless everything that happened was.
like how is this the best way to tell this story!! unles ofc all we want is character death as shock value and another trite story about the circle of violence bc we clearly need another videogame to tell us that instead of a follow up to the story that told us that “you keep finding reasons to survive” and “all we’ve been through, it can’t be for nothing”. why would you take that story from the first game and warp it into this??? it could have been so much more. why did we need so much misery to tell us what we knew all along? that ellie has a gentle heart and the violence of this world they live in will do its best to break her but she won’t? (this is something that rlly bothers me a lot bc i saw someone say that tlou1 had no real message about violence and ??? what was that scene with david lmao. but sure. sure.)
but no. joel was butchered and the only reason was that the writers couldn’t find an interesting way to keep the story going and as much as they keep saying “the story was about ellie all along” they mistreated her so badly and caused her to suffer for this new narrative of hopelessness and loss that she ALREADY KNEW. she already suffered a lot of losses in her life. all those gifsets with joel’s quote from the first game about how she did not know what loss was, like she only knows now???!!! she already knew what loss was. she had overcome it. she was in the process of overcoming survivor’s guilt and the game took all the progress she had made, not only during tlou but during the years between games, and put it back to square one and completely ignored the doubts that plagued here now about what joel had done, how her life should have mattered. i’ve read some people say that a lot of criticism of this game is bc we just wanted a repeat of the first one but at least what i wanted was the events of the ending of the game to MATTER. to REFLECT on ellie’s character in a way that she could grow from.
(and don’t get me started on tommy OH MY GOD. he was all for returning to jackson and then you’re telling me he would change his mind so radically as to pressure ellie into RISKING HER LIFE, letting revenge consume him to the point where he breaks it off with maria???? TOMMY. TOMMY WHO NEVER EVEN WANTED REVENGE FOR JOEL IN THE FIRST PLACE BC IT WOULD RISK TOO MUCH, WHO NEVER THOUGHT VIOLENCE WAS THE ANSWER OH MY GOD
i was ready for this game to make me cry, to touch something deep within that the first one had. i got that feeling during the prologue where joel sings the song and plays the guitar. the rest were only the tears lol. i expect it will win a lot of awards but this is not good storytelling. making a climax that will stay with the players is NOT hard if all you do is pile tragedy upon tragedy and pain upon pain, and that is all that that final confrontation is, with abby’s story akwardly placed in the middle like hey! are we ready for some conflicting point of views?!! you’d better!!!. but there’s no resolution. no closure. ellie gets to keep the ptsd and the nightmares and whatever but ofc that’s not something that we want to dwell on right.

why people do women wrong? it's always the man that gets good. I mean: Pansy Parkinson-no development. Still evil bully Claudia-turn bad, no redemption Azula-from bad to worse, no redemption. Only regina and kuvira have a redemption (kuvira does not deserve it) The others stay bad, insignificant. // From bad to good, redemption. Draco Zuko Soren What i learned is that women are worse than men. Do you know what I mean...
This one is a little tricky for me to answer because I’m not sure if I agree or disagree. I’ve seen a lot of media where the female characters are treated awesome (I’m thinking of the heavy girl power shows; Winx, W.i.t.c.h., Totally Spies, KP, etc.) But then there are some where the treatment isn’t so great. I can see why you’d say so but I think I kind of lean more towards saying that it isn’t a gender issue so much as I have a habit of latching onto and getting attached to characters that aren’t particularly well liked by the creators and/or fandom.
The reason I don’t think that this is a gender issues is because we do have characters like Regina and Kuvira (personally I do think that she deserved it, I’m a rather staunch Kuvira supporter lol) are proof of that. We also have Shego  from KP (who in the very final episode, if I remember right) ended up having a hand in saving the world. She and Drakken ended up getting an award for it (again it’s been a while since I’ve watched that tho so I could be wrong). Regardless she was pretty consistently humanized throughout, and sometimes shown in a more positive light. More recently, Icy from Winx finally got a backstory that painted her in a more sympathetic light. Pretty sure she also helped the good guys in the finale (it was kinda unclear because I watched the Italian version and I don’t speak Italian). This was particularly astounding to me because up until then the writer seemed to really not like her lol. And of course we have Regina who has, what I think, is one of the most amazing redemption arcs out there. Her sister got a redemption too and so did Ursula and Maleficent. Anastasia got one. In season 7, Cinderella’s step mom got one. Even Cora got a little redemption arc and she was one of the meanest bitches int show lol. Say what you will about Once, but a good lot of their female villains turned good (and if they didn’t they were humanized). And then there’s Kuvira who also got a redemption, even if the execution was somewhat rushed.  Acxa is also a good example. Again, say what you will about Voltron, but Acxa, Zethrid, and Ezor all got receptions and ended up fighting for the good side. There were even scrapped plans to make her the pilot of the yellow lion. Hell, Haggar got some humanization at the very end. She was eventually portrayed as a woman who just wanted to be reunited with her son.
So I think that there are many examples of shows where the females (and female villains) are treated well. Enough of them, at least for me, to safely say that I don’t think it’s a gender thing.
At the same time characters like Azula and Isabella are the reason why I can see why you’d say female characters are done dirty. Azula especially seems to get poor treatment even from the authors when her situation is very similar to Zuko’s and literally every other character gets sympathy by the gallon. But tbh I think that it’s more of the fandoms than the creators. I’ve noticed that with Isabella, for example, her brother, Guy, gets a lot of love and sympathy and everyone seems to love him. No hate on Guy, because I like him too. But Isabella is an abuse and an (implied) rape survivor. And she went from good to evil to good again and then back to evil where she stayed and died. It has been a while since I’ve interacted with that fandom, but I know that back when it first came out, everyone hated her and there was like no sympathy for her even when she was good. I think that it’s because they saw her as a replacement for Marian and so they did that ship war thing where they hated her for getting in the way or whatever. I’ve actually stumbled upon an outright hate fic or two about her.
Regina also got so much hate from the fandom. I’ve noticed that a lot of people liked to praise Hook and excuse a lot of what he did, but they’d constantly demonize Regina for similar stuff. Like before her redemption the fandom (at least the portion I talked to) hate this hate boner for her and would constantly shit talk her at every opportunity. Back when I fought everyone who disagreed with me I remember constantly getting into it with a handful of Rumple fans who would hate on Regina for being a killer while simultaneously dismissing and justifying the murders Rumple committed????
Azula, I feel, has become the fandom’s punching back. She and Zuko both have the same father and were exposed to abuse from him. Different kinds, but still abuse. They were both kids. But for some reason Zuko’s negative actions (as a result of his abuse) tend to get swept under the rug while Azula’s are always discussed. I think that it has a lot to do with that Zuko did get his redemption. But at the same time I’ve noticed quite a few people justifying some of the bad things he did in the past while knocking Azula for doing bad things.
I also think that it might have  to do with Azula being realistic. I know a lot of people who say that they see people they don’t like in Azula and for that they can’t like her. Which is fair enough. I have a few characters that I don’t like because they remind me of people I don’t like.
As for Claudia and Soren; I’m not caught up with DP. But I feel like Claudia is going to be redeemed. I think that Aaron might be treating her as Azula but with a redemption. But I’m also kind of skeptical because there’s speculation that he was lying about the whole ‘plans for an Azula redemption’ thing, which is a whole other matter that I’m not even going to get into right now. I think that with DP we’re just gonna have to wait and see how Claudia is handled.
Bottom line I feel like fandoms tend to be harder on female villains than male villains. I don’t think that its necessarily the writers. And even then I’m not quite convinced that it is simply because they are female, because I have seen quite a few female villains get lots of love from the fandoms. And despite it all, Azula does get sympathy from the fandom and I’ve seen several people who don’t particularly like her, say that they at least feel bad for her. I think that it’s just kind of easier to pay attention to the hate than it is the the love sometimes. Because one unkind comment tends to just really stick out among positive ones. Hateful comments also tend to have more of an impact than kinder ones.
TL;DR While I can see why you’d say that female character are done wrong, I think that I lean more towards it not being a gender issue. I think that there are many factors as to why certain female characters get less sympathy while others get more. I hope all of the above made sense.

well i figured out there's a tag limit so i'm gonna  repost that entire mess as it's own thing if anyone wants to read it. it's in response to the post i just reblogged. if anyone wants the 2 gil of a female OC
Saying this stuff is usually not gonna change anything, but speaking as a female OC on this site since 2012... it's nice to see when other people get it. I've been here for 8 years, you wanna know how many followers I have? About 53. I've never even gotten in the ballpark of 100. And only about the first page of those followers are active anymore. I can't even fathom people who have like 300 or more people following them. Cause I no longer believe more than a handful of people would ever be interested in me. And it's something I've learned to just settle with.
I'm gonna be passed over all the time. Back burnered. Especially if the other person’s blog is popular with hundreds of followers and always getting asks. That's just how it is. IDK if anyone's noticed but if you look at my blog for the past few months, it's mostly me talking to myself. Because if I don't keep myself entertained on here despite being mostly ignored, Leanna would have gone inactive back in 2013 and I wouldn't have touched her blog since.
And it makes me super grateful to the people who do notice my blog, and actively interact with it. Like dang I'm being noticed, this is so nice. Even if it's just a like on some post I made, I'm just 'wow someone saw me on their dash and went 'yes, I like what this nerd is doing.'
Which feels great because I constantly feel like I’m doing something wrong and that’s why no one bothers with me.
This character is 15 years of development (I wrote her for FF7: AC when it came out) and it feels amazing when other people notice it.
And I don't wanna be ungrateful but I do wish I could get more people interested. Like a constant group of people who are always there and actively interacting with my blog. Because I know I have so much to offer writing and OOC wise.. but it feels like no one else sees it.
But again.. I'm used to it. I have to be, otherwise I wouldn't be here.
And sometimes I can't even follow like.. other female OCs, especially if they get an abundance of attention cause I get SO salty. It's not their fault but I sit here being latched onto by the envy monster like 'what cheat code did u use to get people interested.' And I just feel like I'm stuck on the other side of this big playground by myself because no one's interested in what I have to offer
I reblog my plotting call about 3 times a day, and those memes I reblog were actually from me sitting down weeks prior to when it posted and having it queued up to that specific day at that specific time. That usually takes a few hours to set up and schedule. And I do it because I hope someone will find something interesting in one of them and send it in. Because that one small action just makes my ENTIRE day. You might just be throwing a headcanon meme at me but on my end I'm reading it as someone who's interested or at least allowing me to talk about some aspect of Leanna I haven't gotten a chance to.
Like be more attentive to female OC blogs. Don’t just say or reblog posts talking about stanning them if you don’t actually live up to it. If you find a blog and go down their dash for a little bit and see they’re just talking to themselves and all their posts have 0 notes and they’re reblogging memes constantly just......... actually interact with it. Pick a symbol and throw it at them cause it’ll make them so happy... Or maybe I’m just speaking from my own experience IDK. I get sad going down my blog and seeing all my posts I make that don’t get any recognition and my memes that never get sent in... it hurts and it’s really exhausting.
And even if I should have learned my lesson, every time someone follows me I like zero in on that number and go ‘Yay! A person who’s interested in writing with me!!’ and then they just turn into a silent follower like ‘hhhhhhhhhhhh ok i guess. i hope you at least enjoy my aesthetic posts or something.’
Some people have even messaged me telling me like 'oh I get what you're feeling but you should really try to reach out to people then and put yourself out there.' Like I’ve actually gotten anon people telling me this if I ever have the gall to complain about how my blog is treated.
Ok, How, Susan? Please give me a step by step guide on ‘How To Put Yourself Out There’ cause I must be doing something wrong. And I'm just 'that sounds great but what do I do if I try say 50 times and get back burnered/pushed aside 46 of those times and the other 4 go inactive shortly after contacting. Do I just do that all over again? And if it repeats itself, am I expected to just keep trying over and over? Am I always expected to be the one busting my ass for a shred of interaction from people who aren’t giving me the time of day of their own accord? Is putting myself out there meaning I send in memes and like starter calls and plotting calls and never get anything returned? That I give and give and give so much and only hope for even an ounce in return? Every single time I come back from a break? Which I take like 15 times a year because no one is interacting with my blog (there’s a horrible cycle there innit) ..What if I'm...tired. And getting more tired every time the cycle starts over.'
Like.. I get tired. I get really... tired of trying so hard and getting next to nothing in return. But I log on every day and ignore all that so I can have a good time. At least for today. And then I go to bed and wake up tomorrow. And do it all over again.

⧼   alisha wainwright, cis female, she/her /   lost in translation - frankie + sweat so prevalent you can see it glimmering in the sun, running in the rain with a mouth half-consciously open, letting the cold water roll off the tongue, curling up in a huge jumper with a cup of something hot in front of a garden of flowers, that moment the patience snaps and fists start flying.   ⧽   ━━   hey, isn’t that ALICIA SPINNET? i read a daily prophet article on them, once ; the TWENTY-SIX year old [ muggle born ] WITCH is a [ GRYFFINDOR alumnus who has gone on to be a PERSONAL TRAINER FOR PROFESSIONAL QUIDDITCH PLAYERS. ]. i’ve heard they can be quite EXUBERANT & FIERCLY LOYAL, but i don’t know… they came off very RECKLESS & STUBBORN in that interview. it really is hard to know what to believe these days though, isn’t it?
Tumblr media
heya!!! i’m vicky, twenty-two, and live in the gmt timezone!! i am EXCITED!!!!!!!
so, alicia’s wiki is sparse ( as can be expected ). here’s what it does tell us:
she’s two school years older than the golden trio ( so she would’ve left hogwarts after the fifth book )
she was only a reserve chaser until her third year, when she made the main team
was a member of dumbledore’s army, even letting the meetings cut into her quidditch training time
returned to hogwarts for the battle of hogwarts
was friendly!
her blood status is unconfirmed, so i went with muggle born based off her reaction to draco calling hermione a mudblood in the second book:
Alicia shrieked, "How dare you!"
--
chronologically:
alicia was born in scotland to two muggle parents ( so sounds like a weaker version of this, not as strong because of spending time at hogwarts & in london post-school ). grew up, went to primary school, made lots of friends. was devastated she didn’t get to go to the same secondary school as her friends, but this was quickly overshadowed by how cool the wizarding world was.
she played football ( the soccer kind ) in primary school and was immediately entranced by the idea of a magical sport, dedicating most of her first year free time to figuring out the ins and outs of the rules & practicing whenever she could ( possibly by making friends with some of the slightly older students and hm... persuading them to take her out with them and teach her )... almost failing some of her classes ! getting on the reserve team only made her work harder at this, and it took a mini intervention from head of house mcgonagall for her to realise her grades were taking a hit too.
time jump !
alicia had left hogwarts obviously by the time the battle came around, but she still carried her dumbledore’s army coin around with her wherever she went. jobs were few and far between in the wizarding world, so for those two years she ended up moving back home and taking on a muggle apprenticeship in personal training.
when things really began to heat up, her parents could sense that things were not right. she helped out with lee jordan’s radio getting the news to the resistance, and shielded some fellow muggleborns a couple of times in her family home, giving them a bed to sleep in for a couple of nights and some warm meals to build up their strength – beyond thankful that her parents could see the hunted look in her friend’s eyes and understood what it meant to them.
when the coin called, she went to hogwarts – sneaking away without saying goodbye to her parents and regretting it almost immediately, with no way to take it back. in the quiet moments inbetween fighting she had horrible daydreams of her parents’ faces if someone had to go back and tell them. hogwarts had been a place she’d been able to call home, and now it was ransacked. she fought alongside her friends, and felt the back-breaking, bone-twisting agony as some of them were lost. used some muggle tactics when fighting a couple of death eaters, and enjoyed the surprise on their faces. it felt perverse to say, but she never felt more at home than in those desperate, awful times – being able to face down the threat with direct action and side-by-side with her friends once more, with that intense feeling of community encasing them all.
it was hard to go back to the mundanity and obliviousness of muggle life after that. she moved down to london, popped her parents onto the floo network finally so she could visit more conviniently. attended as many funerals as she physically could – surprised to find that tears were hard to come by. the adrenaline wouldn’t wear off enough to let that happen.
that’s how she got back into the personal training, as she started working out more and more to try and out-run the constant vigilance her brain had latched onto. she enrolled on a muggle personal training course nearby, accidentally spending almost every lesson mentally rearranging the exercises so they’d work for quidditch players, which sparked the idea. ( i reckon she probably pitched the idea to one of her friends who’d been scouted in the leagues, did it for fun & then was encouraged to make a living from it – bolstering business through word-of-mouth ).
but her way of coping is distraction, keeping her mind so occupied she can’t possibly think of how much was lost, which is no way of healing at all.
-
plot-wise !
the dark mark sends her into a spiral of panic. alicia hasn’t processed the first tragedies, and her mind goes to dark places imagining what could happen now to the little amount of peace she’d managed to gather in the aftermath.
the prophecy worries her, she believes in it. she’s never had much cause to question things in the wizarding world ( she never would have imagined magic existed as a child, so why not prophecies and wrack-nosed snouts and all that stuff ? ) but she has never been very good at riddles and puzzles so regarding that she buries her head in the sand and hopes that the people with the smarts to figure it all out are on it.
despite this, her teeth are on edge and she can feel the fear transforming into something more like resolve. if she can do anything to stop things progressing into what it became before, she’ll do it. always more of a follower than a leader, though, she’s looking for the answers to fall into her lap and so her day-to-day is spent pretending and gathering strength – her dada books have been dusted off, and her pull-up numbers are increasing steadily.
-
here’s a wanted connections part !
LOTS. OF. FRIENDS. that straight up. dm me if you want to go over details, but you can 100% assume that your character(s) and alicia are friends from a get-go. personal training clients would also be sick! i’m rubbish at doing this formally but YEAH plot with me babie!
more formally:
ALICIA SPINNET ( alisha wainwright ) is looking for their ANGELINA JOHNSON who resembles UTP (must be black) and should be 26/27. applicants do not have to contact VICKY to talk over the details before applying.   ( alicia and angelina were certainly close friends but the details of this can be utp: whether they’re close but not super close, were best friends etc. alicia had a bit of a hero worship teenage crush on angelina, but it’s also utp whether this was unrequited or they’re dating or exes or anything !  )

Goodnight
Mob!Tom x female!reader story
Warnings: mentions of alcohol, a little bit of angst, violence, and not giving him his money. This idea is mine.
Characters: tom, reader, and some harry
Summary: Y/N arrived at a bar, waiting for a friend, and meets a new man. When there's a turn of events, Tom finds himself doing something very out of character.
__
The foul smell of the bar had Y/N gagging, twisting hopelessly in her bar stool. It hadn't even been three minutes since she had walked in, and she was already checking the time, sick to the stomach.
She looked around her. Why had her friend picked this of all places? The old looking bar, strangely isolated from the rest of the World. It was a damp area, the constant wind making it strangely eerie, and yet her she'd been told to dress like it was her last night. So, she'd shoved herself into a crimson number, an old clubbing dress paired with simple heels, and knew that charm would have to make men swoon tonight, chances there were any.
The sight of a group of men in the corner made her want to twitch. Although she wasn't sat close to them, she could feel their eyes on her, puffing away at their cigars. The room was tense, so hot that the wet mud on her legs seemed to tighten. She'd had to charge up the street, and by the time she got in the pub, She wanted to wring her friends boyfriend for suggesting this place. How he could influence her in the blink of an eye made her sick.
And she'd went through all that mud just to third-wheel.
"Are you waiting for a friend, or should I get you a drink? " Called the bartender. They seemed to always talk, she supposed it was their job to.
The bar seemed to grow quiet with a chair scrapping in the distance. She asked for a pint of beer.
Rooting around in her purse for a while, she wondered how long it would take her friend. Perhaps her mind had wondered too far to hear his voice, but she snapped out of her daydream when a man's hand slammed a bundle of change on the countertop.
"£2.50." He answered grimly.
Her nose was immediately met with a passionate scent of whiskey, the man's ginger bound of curls brushed back and a pink scar on his lip. His clothes were loose yet pulled tight in some areas. His fashion sense was old, a dark blazer contrasting with his good chain, the attire pulled together with pants and squeaky clean shoes. By his whole outlook, she seemed to sense he wasn't as prefect as he seemed to be.
"Harry." He grinned. It curled, his smirk, folding into a bittersweet Cheshire cat smile.
 "I'm Y/N."
"And?" He laughed darkly. She raised her brows in question. "Y/n what?"
"Y/N Y/L/N, why do you want to know?" She turned from him, swirling her drink, deciding to let how the bartender hurried from them after giving her the drink pass.
A beat went by. The men in the corner seemed to quiet down a touch.
"You know a Kendra Hunt right?" Harry asked. His voice was cool now. Collected.
"I- yes I do." Kendra had invited her here, tonight. Maybe he was someone she'd set her up with?
The pads of Harry's fingers reached for her wrist under the countertop. Like little butterfly touches, yet each one was so warm that her stomach seemed to turn.
"She tell you why?" He looked behind him at the men in the corner of the room. His fingers latched onto her wrist, and her throat choked up. She nodded a yes. She knew that this wasn't a meet up at all, but the idea still seemed so sweet.
Another beat went by, "Where is it?"
Y/N went completely still.
Where is what?
"Tell me, now. Where about, take me there." His words seemed to shoot out, the rush of adrenaline wafting off of him.
His calm demeanour wearing away. She could practically taste his impatience.
 "What? I don't understand -"
"The money -" He noticed her cold sweat, "Y/N, love, tell me, now."
Money? She was going to drop dead. Had her friend planted her in a mess she wasn't responsible for? She'd left her here, purposely, as a bait.
Harry took to silence her just in case a plea of scream would come out of her slack mouth, and pulled her closer to him by the hold on her wrist.
"Be quiet." He snapped, "She must've sent you here as a bargaining chip, or bait. Are you that stupid to think that she could afford all that stuff with what she earns normally?"
"Please." Y/ N cried. It was supposed to be a normal night.
Harry stroked her cheek with a sinister smile, "You know, my brother Sam thought it'd be funny for me to go get the pretty girl Tom's been eyeing. Poor girl, poor manipulated baby. The real bad people always act innocent."
She shook her head like a wild animal, "Kendra and I haven't seen each other in months. It was a night out tonight. Harry, whoever you are, I can't even pay my rent, I don't have time for shady stuff. I didn't even touch it, I had no idea she even owed you money. Please, please don't hurt me. "
"Your friend took money off Tom." Harry stated. He seemed to shake with pent up energy. Would he let it out on her? "She probably spent it on booze and drugs. She hasn't given it back, and her time's up. She said you would be coming to give it to me tonight, but she probably sent you here to distract us while she gets away. Do you know where she is?"
"No, please let me go."
"Its not that easy love. If we don't get that money I'll hurt you. Give me your phone."
He took her phone with his spare hand, calling over a friend, "Harrison! I've got her phone. Try and track her. "
"Are you going to kill her? Are you the boss-"
She felt heavy breath at the back of her head. Harrison maybe? He couldn't get there that quick.
"No, he's not the boss."
Harry seemed to perk up suddenly, "Tom."
Y/N turned. This was Tom. In his all drunken and god-like glory, suit tight and golden chain sparkling like the sun, his scent warm and strangely comforting. His sweetly shaped eyes that seemed as dark as coal, and the only thing except his current state that was unkempt was his brown curls.
"The Hunt girl sent her to us as bait. Tom, I thought you were celebrating tonight? It's another successful transaction between businesses. "
"This one isn't successful," Tom couldn't seem to look from her, the two of them entranced, "I don't like people not telling me about business. You told me Hunt had paid up."
" Tom -"
"Don't 'Tom' me, idiot."
"Oi, both of you. You make a scene and our reputation goes up in pretty little flames. And If either of you want the girl to live, I suggest setting a good example so no more witnesses have to die, again." It was certainly Harrison now, a fresh head of Sandy blonde hair and blue puppy dog eyes.
Tom turned to him, "You knew too didn't you? " and pulled Y/N up by the hand, pulling her after him in a tantrum.
Harry and Harrison called after Tom from behind, receiving drunken mumbles of 'lady's bathroom '.
"What are you doing?" She cried, as he dragged her into the women's.
He propped himself up on a sink, pulling a lighter and a fresh cigar from his pocket, "Silence. Sweet silence. You can pee now without your little best friend, I'll just be minding my own business. "
Y/N could run, but the threats had nearly scared her enough to make her pee on the spot. So, she cautiously entered the toilet, and began to pee.
A beat went by, "If you're wondering, my father gave me this as a present as a kid. That's why we 're here. We haven't been in years. Just back to keep our reputation fresh."
"My brother threatened you." He folded his arms and she furrowed a brow, "He talked to me about you after you left. I know you're not responsible for this. Forgive Harry, he's violent. Don't call the police on him either, they don't come here, they know better." The dark in his eyes intrigued her.
"I'm sorry. I had no idea, at all. She wrote my name down -"
" - and put you right in the middle to stall us, and then ran. Harry tried calling her. She left. Probably ditched the phone." His outfit was the same as Harry's, except darker and sharper. Clean cut. It suited him, really well.
He snatched toilet paper from a stall at the sight of her watering eyes, and handed it to her. Tom then leaned into the sink behind him.
"I'm not good with sappy, emotional stuff, forgive me. And I'm not even supposed to go into the women's toilets but I wanted to check on you. After all, I have been staring at you all night. "
A chuckle came from Y/n. He was cunning. Yet she felt drawn to the accent, the skin, the eyes and the hair. The death-threats hovered to the back of her mind for a second. The cold breeze, cold feeling, that came with him felt luring.
A predator with prey. Oh lord, she didn't want to die. Even when the silence stretched out over them, she wanted to plead for her life.
And while she stressed over pleading, his thoughts were too twisted in the feels pulling painfully at his gut. A bad feeling washed over him. He had to make decision -and quick- and hope to not feel guilty about it.
He began again, "I want you to leave, right now with no but's, and don't ever come here again. " He rushed out, "No one's gonna come after you, as long as you don't interfere with us again, understand? I'll tell Harry that you ran, and make sure he won't go after you. I'm his boss. And if you tell anybody that I let a client go without giving me my money, I'll send him. Go before I change my mind."
Her eyes caught with his brown ones. He smelt like strawberries and bourbon, and she could breathe him in all day. Perhaps on a rainy afternoon on the couch.
"Do I have to repeat myself?"
She looked at his curls. They were soft, so soft.
"What, do you want my number or something? I'll get your phone back to you in a day or so, and who knows, you might just get that number." He joked with a wave of his hand. The longing silence coming from her was his only answer.
She pressed her hands against the door and smiled at him, "Thank you. Goodnight, Tom." And set off, like the wind had swiped her off her feet.
He spun on his heal a beat after her exit. They lived around the same area, they would see each other again, right?
She hadn't given him a goodbye.  She'd given him a Goodnight.
This is my first so I apologise if i have made any mistakes!
