Jen's Fresh and Spicy Salsa Recipe This dish has so much flavor! Did I mention that it is easy and fresh? This salsa comes the closest to the kind served in restaurants. While the cilantro, lime juice, and green onions add freshness, the jalapenos and hot pepper sauce such as Tabasco add spice to the dish. 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice, 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro, 1 teaspoon ground black pepper, 2 fresh jalapeno peppers seeded, 5 roma tomatoes seeded and chopped, 1 teaspoon garlic powder, 10 green onions, 2 tablespoons hot pepper sauce

Death By Hot Pepper
I am not a food critic or a reviewer, so forgive me if this sounds a bit over the top; true accounts usually do. Some years back, I was tinkering around making a hot sauce or a salsa for my consumption and gastronomic distress. A buddy of mine who served in Vietnam suggested I use one of the peppers he smuggled back to the States in 1970 and has, for decades, grown them in his backyard garden.…

PSA: tomatoes are not spicy. Tomatoes and tomato products should not be spicy. Pizza sauce isn't inherently spicy. Tomato-based pasta sauce is not spicy. Ketchup is NOT spicy.
If tomatoes are spicy, you have an allergy to tomatoes.
This announcement brought to you by my almost 29-year-old husband learning for the first time in his 2.8 decades of putting food products into his mouth that spaghetti and saucy pizza aren't spicy foods

Hot Pasta alla Vodka (Vegetarian)
Tumblr media
This spicy, creamy and warming Hot Pasta alla Vodka makes a deliciously comforting lunch, especially when you've caught a bit of a chill! Happy Tuesday!
Ingredients (serves 2):
2 cups short pasta (like orecchiette)
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 large onion
1/3 red chili pepper
a generous bunch Garden Parsley
3 large Whole Peeled Tomatoes+ 1/3 cup of their juice
1 tablespoon Hot Pepper Sauce
a pinch of fleur de sel or sea salt flakes and freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
5 tablespoons good quality Vodka
½ tablespoon caster sugar
half a dozen large leaves Garden Basil
½ cup double cream
Parmesan Cheese
In a pot of salted boiling water, cook orecchiette according to package’s direction, usually 9 to 11 minutes until al dente.
While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large, deep, nonstick skillet over medium heat.
Finely chop the onion and stir into the skillet. Cook, a couple of minutes until softened.
Thinly slice red chili pepper, and add to the skillet; cook, 1 minute more.
Finely chop Parsley, and stir into the skillet as well.
Roughly chop Whole Peeled Tomatoes, and stir them into the skillet, along with their juice. Increase heat to medium-high, and simmer, 4 minutes, stirring often. Stir in Hot Pepper Sauce. Season with salt and black pepper, to taste. Then, stir in Vodka and caster sugar.
Finely chop Basil, and stir half into the sauce. Simmer, a couple of minutes more, then add double cream.  Allow to reduce and thicken a little, 2 minutes.
Then, drain orecchiette, saving 1/3 cup of its starchy water. Stir both into the skillet, coating the pasta in sauce. Grate in about ¼ cup Parmesan. Give a gentle stir until the sauce beautifully coats the pasta.
Serve Hot Pasta alla Vodka, sprinkled with remaining fresh Basil, topped with freshly grated Parmesan, hot, with a glass of chilled dry white wine, like a light and citrus-y Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc.

I’m jumping in to submit a request! I love it when people draw one of the caballeros cooking. I think they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Personally I feel like Panchito is a dream in the kitchen. Part of me wants to make a joke about Donald burning water but he can probably at least make a good fucking sandwich. Zé…. Man I have no idea. He is a mystery to me.
I ended up rambling about headcanons OTL but! I’d love to see you draw a cab of your choice cooking or something like that!
OK SO,, Zé has been shown cooking in his comics and apparently he's pretty decent at it (his nephews do like his food) but, as everything in those comics, it all depends if it's gonna be relevant to the plot.
José might not be a chef but I'm sure he can make the Brazilian classics like rice and beans, strogonoff (the Brazilian remix), pasta with sausages, farofa de ovo, canja, bake a cake AND OF COURSE he can work a grill for churrasquinho of whatever mystery meat he can put his hands on. He doesn't do much cooking because it's "ARGH... work", but for his nephews and when it comes to showing his friends what Rio's cuisine is like, he will do it. Also, I think if he's feeling truly inspired and has people helping him, he can make a traditional feijoada, just... don't criticize it. like, EVER.
Tumblr media
Traditional Feijoada is supposed to be rich, it's not supposed to be spicy/hot!
